I wanted to like this place because I visit the Alex theater often and its close, but we had a horrble first impression and visit. I arrived at 11:30 am and asked for early check in (I had been driving all morning and needed to use the restroom) the staff member told me if I waited till 12 there was no early check in fee and I could use the lobby bathroom while I waited. I did and we sat in the car for the 30 min. Went back in, a new staff members shift started told her what the lady with the black hair told me she said no its no fee at 1pm. They called the manager who seemed to know which staff member I was referring to and told me I had to pay it or wait till 1. (Very rude with an attitude by the way) I told her I wasted my time and could have just checked in when I arrived if it was the same fee. Seemed more like the first staff member just didn't want to check me in and had me wait till their shift ended or something. Whatever, I paid the fee. We got to the room and it was outdated, had tons of water damage, and the vents were filled with thick black dust and lint (proably a fire hazard which is scary because the sprikler system looked rusted and damaged). On top of that, someone on the floor was smoking pot which filled our room with the smell for 2 days. No judgement, to each their own, but it is not a smell I want to be surrounded with while on vacation. I brought it up to a staff member who pretty much told me oh well there is nothing we can do. True, I guess.

Room was clean, spacious and fine. Hotel does not provide any breakfast, just coffee and small snack, and there are no restaurants on the street. So for me, with no car, I had to walk across the freeway to a get to a Starbucks.

The location is best to reach most of the tourist destinations. Plenty of parking available and room was clean. Kitchenette was lacking basic utensils and cutleries.

If you just need a relatively place to stay, this hotel is fine. The parking is a bit tight. The rooms are large, but my toilet barely flushed, and the shower was either scalding hot or freezing, with terrible water pressure. Called the front desk from my room several times with no response. The freeway is really close, but that means constant traffic noise.
It’s a close drive to the major business area, but I didn’t feel comfortable walking around the area.
Look, here’s my take. It’s close to the main office for my company, so it was convenient. Would I stay there again? Maybe. Just don’t expect any luxury.

The room we were in this trip was a little weird and run down. There were large appliance plugs, like washer dryer on the walls with high regular plugs around the room and the ceiling tiles were kind of moved and/or broken a little (we checked for cameras, lol). It was like it didn't used to be an actual guest room but maybe a laundry room?. I asked at the front desk if we could upgrade (pay more) for something else and they said that the hotel was sold out, so we stayed in the same room 412. The beds were comfortable. This was the first time we had a double bed room, which might be the issue. There are a few things that didn't work such as the machine that venda medicine and toiletries in the lobby (you have to contact the vendor for a refund when morning comes out). There's no breakfast coffee little sealed fruit cups and granola bars.

However, we like the hotel location, price & staff is helpful and friendly so we give a lot of grace on the room issues. If you're not staying in you room much and enjoying LA, it is perfect. Parking is free which is pretty rare in LA. 4 starts overall for experience.

The pool and hot tub were great! The room was clean. Just didn’t have any outlets near the night stands. Difficult to charge devices. Not many options. Would have been good to have a gym. Staff was friendly.

The site makes this place look decent. I was looking for Best Western vibes. And got motel 6 quality but worse. Everything was dirty. The shower had stains. The Kleenex holder was so dirty I was afraid to grab a tissue from there. The bathroom floors were stained with dirt. I actually contracted a skin fungal infection that my doctor said most likely came from pillows and or bedding. The moment I checked in I regretted the booking. The skin infection has spread all over my face and had to get it treated. This is the worse hotel I’ve ever experienced and do not recommend it to anyone. Please go somewhere else. This hotel is crusty musty. Also I smiled at one of the house keepers and she looked at me up and down. Like really?

*the rooms do not look like the pictures* There is nothing to update the room. You will be staying in a room that was last updated in the 90s. Maybe. The quality of the linens were low. Hard and a little scratchy. Hospital quality. No cute kettle or throws. Pool was very dirty due to a “rain.” Bar NEVER OPEN. Free coffee was like what you get in a hospital waiting room. Lobby is the nicest part of the hotel.

\"Mountain view\" is a parking lot. \"Free breakfast\" is coffee and a fruit cup. Bathroom sink was clogged. Mattress was a springy, backbreaking mess. USB and electrical outlets near the bed are 3 feet too high on the wall. Bathtub not nearly deep enough to take a real bath.

At 6:30am I woke up to what sounded like a torrential rain. Turned out there was no visible leak—it was coming from the inside the bathroom wall. Happened every 15 minutes. Given that I’d been planning to sleep until 8, it was pretty annoying.

Stayed at Glendale Express Hotel for a weekend vacation and it was horrible - we will never stay there again. Problems: 1) Room was not ready when we asked to check in about 2:15. That's fine, but when we came back at 3:00 check-in time, still not ready. Offered a non-kitchenette but we said we would wait for the kitchenette (turns out their idea of a \"kitchenette\" is a mini fridge and a microwave. Nothing at all like a real kitchenette. And I'm not even sure that we got an actual kitchenette - I saw pictures online where there was also a sink. So I think we got ripped off). I was told to come back in 30 minutes. When I came back 30 minutes later, the guy said \"Oh, I should have called you because 2 minutes after you left your room was ready.\" So why didn't he call? Insulting and terrible customer service. 2) TV was awful - you would change the channel and the screen would be dark and it would say \"TV will turn off in 10 minutes\" and then you would have to wait a couple of minutes until the channel you wanted to see actually came into view. 3) Musty/nasty-smelling air conditioner.

We thought we would get a vintage experience. I saw pictures of the lobby and thought wow that is unique and has a 60's/70's feel to it. I had even read a review from someone that said that they spent their entire time in the lobby. Well now I know that it's because the rest of the hotel and rooms are still actually from the 60's/70's. Popcorn ceilings, old and peeling wallpaper, rusted fixtures, and the smells were terrible. We actually asked to switch from the third floor because the smell of cigarettes stunk the hallway and our bedroom up. There have been some upgrades here and there but it is so mismatched. For example carpets in the hallways and the signage. The room we were in had a nice table and refrigerator, everything else was old. You could feel the springs of the bed. I was so annoyed but hey you really get what you pay for, low rates and free parking is what sold us. At least we didn't see any bugs or cockroaches in our room (did not read this until I was digging through reviews after check in). The staff was friendly and attentive if you needed extra supplies. The poptarts and coffee were also nice on our early Universal Studios morning. This place has so much potential but it cannot be half done. Sucked it up for a weekend but we will not be staying here again.

Overall stay was good. Hotel/room was clean. Bed/pillows were very comfy, friendly staff. For the price it should've included more than just pop tarts and coffee. Also, rooms were non-smoking but the hallway on my floor wreaked of cigarette smell throughout my stay.

The room was cockroach infested. First thing we saw when we opened the door to our room was a live cockroach. Then throughout the night, more cockroaches kept coming out. We ended up killing more than 10 cockroaches throughout the night. This is unacceptable. Never going to stay here again.

Overall it was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We were one of the first people to check in that day and we got a ground level floor that appeared to be a room that hadn’t been updated in 30 years. The room looked like a dungeon. After we brought it to the front desk attention they accused us of being hostile for stating our displeasure and told us there was nothing wrong with the room and it was one of their newly updated rooms which it clearly was not. The mattresses were the worst mattresses I have ever slept on and didn’t even have a comforter. Also, the toilets barely flushed.

The room had 2 beds, one very hard and the other absolutely intolerable with springs poking up. Had to buy mattress topper just to make it thru 3 days since staff couldn't do anything. No luggage rack, no blankets only sheets (the so-called duvet was just a sheet), no extra TP roll, only 2 towels, pop tart \"breakfast,\" trash overflowing, hot tub jets not effective, cigarette butts on hallway floor. Staff were nice as had to ask for much of the stuff already mentioned but shouldnt have to ask for a luggage rack at a motel. Movie being filmed nearby so parking very limited (maybe Bates Motel Sequel?).
