Underrated Hotel

5/6 nights.

Unlike other countries (e.g. Mexico) that I felt obliged tipping staff members, in here staff members are somewhat shy receiving tips which makes me wanting to give more. Almost all staff members we dealth with are polite, respectful and nice.

They clean the pool each day in the morning.

We enjoyed watching the monkeys randomly visiting the balcony, they visited us once.

I will surely recommend this place to friends and officemates for holiday.

The infinity pool is my favorite.

I had second thought booking this hotel due to 'construction site noise', but I am glad I didnt cancel the booking.. it's not noisy at all considering that the construction site is just parallel to our room balcony.

We decided to keep our booking for the next 4 nights.

A lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It is up a hill out of town, but there is a free shuttle which runs all day till midnight. The fabulous infinity pool overlooks a panoramic view of the island down to the sea. Breakfast is mainly Filipino and Chinese, but there are some waffles and nice cakes. You can request eggs and bacon also.

This Hotel is a disaster

So far the worst Hotel ever. Problems everywhere you go, they will overcharge you, they don’t care about anything just how to get more money out of you. There reception is a pure disaster, staff confused, they reply on everything “yes siir”. They have hide all prices, if you find some price on the menu, the price is wrong. If you complain, you have wrong prices, they will tell you “yes sir”. They wil treat you like a robber during check out process, checking you multiple times if you had paid by security inspection. Every day some negative surprise. This hotel needs to change management, it’s one big disappointment

Good green views from the room, the pool was nice and warm, since the sun is shining on it most of the day. Menu had plenty of different dishes and drinks, with buffet breakfast. Prices were ok. Transport forth and back for closest beach and multiple places every hour, the staff will inform it well. Welcoming and peaceful hotel to stay in. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Only negative was wifi, it was working pretty badly for us. Recommend for all kind of visit!

Alta Vista is a tad run down and the room was not as advertised. We did not have a microwave, though we had specifically booked a room for this purpose. Wine glasses were not present and when items were questioned we were told it would be rectified but it never was. Our AC was not working on check in and had to be fixed. The in room safe failed and my husband was blamed for this by the staff. However the staff in the restaurant and the shuttle bus drivers were fantastic, going out of their way to assist us.

Best hotel experience I’ve had (Wedding too).

we booked a 17 person wedding party at the Alta Vista. The time we spent there was excellent.
It excellent service started from the moment we arrived. We were able to get all 5 rooms early check-in for no extra cost. I have never seen that in any other hotel.
The rooms were great, spacious and clean with high ceilings.
The pool was amazing with a great hill-side view overlooking a valley leading to the ocean.
Our wedding was great as well. My bride has some difficulties and we ended up starting 45 minutes late, but the wedding coordination team could not have been nicer.
I will finish up by telling you what my wife said to me the night of our wedding. when we were at the dinner table eating: “Everything has been so much nicer than I thought it would be”.
I agree. I have to go back again, just to say thank you for the excellent personal service we received. By far the best hotel experience I have ever had.

Recommended Hotel for refreshments and relaxation

The hotel has an extremely nice viewing as the hotel located on the hill , but far far away from attractions and fun! The hotel provided a free shuttle to the city Mall every 30 minutes and you have to get another transfer to the station 2 by your own , it hassles. A very safety hotel for the kids, lots of gaurds. The hotel also have a free shuttle to the best white Beach in boracay , be prepared for it with food and drinks coz not available on site.

Overpriced. No late hours facilities, no food after 10pm, no drinks after 10pm. One facility area is used for everything ,restaurant, bar, coffeeshop.
Transport from hotel is expensive, and hotel promise full assitance for guests to the airport.which is not true. Transport for guests to the airport was used as employees pickup also on the way to the airport. Breakfast buffet is very filipino.no western choices,only 3 items on the buffet. No juices,no drinks only ice tea. One kind of bread. Space is over crowded. Staff seems helpless mosy of the time. Hotel assigned wrong pickup times. Shuttle service to the clisest mall only.they stopped providing transport to any farther facilities.road from hoyel to down town is ruins,constant work in progress. Constantly jammed with traffic. Hotel is overpriced for the services and services it privides. Bad experience ,last time to go there. Never again.

The hotel is very far from the beaches and though guests are ferried to Puka Beach, the first trip is at 8am and the last trip at 5pm. I’d like to swim at 5:30am or 4pm so this hotel is not for me. As for the service, I appreciate that the hotel staff were consistent in their customer service (not favoring tne foreigners). Breakfast buffet could be better.

Very nice property. Pretty. Great pool. Beautiful view of Boracay. Puka Beach nearby. Restaurant was nice. Could use a few more western choices. Breakfast was good. Room was nice. Two story. Air conditioning unit in upper level was a little loud. Staff was courteous and helpful.
Van provides transportation to the city mall area. Then local transportation to other spots.

The staff is extremely friendly and were patient with many guests... But I had to ask several times for bath towels, both when we checked in and after cleaning. The location is remote to d mall, but they have shuttle to Pucca Beach which is allot more chill than any of the three stations where we done every night. All in all good stay and would recommend.

Atmosphere was great. The hotel was very clean and the landscaping was beautiful. Only problem we encountered was the menu at the restaurant was limited due to the stock and the bed and pillows were a little hard. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay!! Staff was very helpful and having a private beach was nice as well.

Terrible stay! Reception staff are very unhelpful and don't want to help you. Restaurant only has 1 high chair for over 400 rooms. They had a 2 page menu but only a few things available from the list, waiters just laugh it off (appalling service). Breakfast is chaotic and not a huge variety. They do not offer any foods for babies/small children. They do not have a kiddie room but haven't take this off the website or signs around the hotel. They also do not have any facilities on the beach whatever the pictures show you, just a guy handing you a towel. WiFi only works in the lobby and is very slow even then.

The pool and view is nice. They also offer shuttles to main shopping centre which is helpful and the rooms are large. Only found out on our last day that you can ask for bacon and pancakes at breakfast but no signage for this at all.

Whatever the price do not stay here! We had the worst 2 weeks over Christmas & New Years.

Overall, the stay was ok. The highlights of this place is that it offers free hourly rides to the city mall and free pick up between 8am to 10/11pm. It also has free breakfast that changes daily during our stay. There is a small spa that offers facials and massages. Their massages can be done in your room as well. It’s local weather is pretty humid already- despite having the air conditioner on- I still woke up every morning sweaty. I felt that the towels could have been more plush. Also the shower head was dirty (black spots) and some of the shower head were plugged up. It didn’t have the correct water pressure you would expect in a resort. The fridge was left off when we walked in so upon opening it- it had a musky smell. It got better once it was running again.
It appears they are somewhat organized and I might have just been the luck of the draw- but they had a difficult time locating my hotel stay despite providing all my printed documentations. Also when leaving, they had difficulty finding my cash deposit and tried to charge me for additional services that I did not use. Luckily, they waived these additional fees as I paid for all their services I used. (Example, you have to pay for a ride to AND from Shangri-la).

Tips- ask for receipt for any services you pay for in advance. Also you need a “clearance” slip to get off the resort upon checkout. This means someone looks at your room when you return the key. But no one told us that when we handed over the key.

Check in was a nightmare. Took over two hours, and lots of back and forth for them to learn how to read the hotels.com booking confirmation. Staff doesn’t really speak English unless you know exactly what you are asking for, If you ask for a shuttle to the port ‘no sir’ then you ask for the south west shuttle and ‘oh ya’... it was a frustrating experience.

Time of our lives

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. First time back in 2013. We booked three rooms and brought the entire family to boracay. It is an experience that we will never forget. From the beginning the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. Rooms were large. The buffet breakfast was tasty everyday. The dishes did cater more to the Chinese and Koreans that stayed there. But there were options for Filipinos and Americans. The pool is very nice. We did the karaoke which everyone loved. The shuttle service to Puka beach and the downtown area is great. Get to the shuttle early because there tends to be a line. The only negative was all the Chinese people. They are completely rude. I watch this one old Chinese person sprint out of his walker because they put a fresh plate of fruit down at breakfast. He knocked down several women. It was terrible, but actually hilarious. The staff was nice because we had a big group. Every morning they set three tables together so we could eat as a family. We were thankful for everyone that worked there. Do yourself a favor and show them gratitude. We always said thank you and we always tipped. It doesn't appear that anyone else tipped at all, which is so rude!

Nice Hotel that Could've been Better

Great location for families. There is a great view of Boracay from the pool. The room is spacious and clean but could have been better. Maybe add some indoor slippers or some special touches to it. There is no menu at the room so if you want room service, you have to call them to send you a menu. A lot of time wasted. They have a van service to the DMALL and to the beach. However, do not expect the van to come at the right time. Sometimes, it is early, sometimes it is late especially from the beach. The van also does not have AC.

A LOT of the visitors that are staying there are rude and selfish so keep that in mind when you are staying there. You are greatly outnumbered. The breakfast was ehh

Very disappointing!

First day and night, my fiancé and I decided to go to the pool, we put our belongings on our chairs near the pool Attendants to go for a swim, after only about 5 minutes in the pool other guests had moved our stuff off of our chairs as the staff watched. Do to that we left the pool to go back to our room. Night came and we wanted to watch TV and relax, the remote did not work so we called to fix the problem, only for them to come and flip the batteries in the remote (no brainer) as i already done so. Worked for 2 more seconds then called back, then they took one battery out of AC remote to put in tv remote, it worked but not for long, so we just left it alone to not be bothered an used buttons on side of tv. Soon after my partner went to use the bathroom where she shouted because she saw a pretty big spider in the toilet (frightening). Day two, we left for awhile and then came back and decided to use the pool and Jacuzzi and to our surprise there was kids jumping, splashing in the jacuzzi, and worst we witnessed guests blowing their noses in the water! Gross!! note: there was a kids side of pool, which none were in. So how can we relax in the jacuzzi with kids splashing water in our faces. Day 3
Same thing happened. Went to ask for a manager and was told there was no manager on duty to inform of the issue and will resolve it the next day. Next day, nothing was resolved!
Stayed here for 4 days and our overall experience was very disappointing.

Wrong Room Type Given

I booked a 2-night stay in a Loft room via Hotels.com. When they brought us to our room (Keira 105), I immediately noticed that the room was different from what I booked, so I asked the bellman of Keira 105's room type. He said De Luxe. I called the Front Desk and the staff wasn’t even apologetic. She just said that the Loft room may not be available when we arrived thus they gave me a De Luxe room. I retorted that they could have at least told me; we would have been happy to wait (By the way, we checked in at 2 PM, their standard check-in time.) The staff wasn’t helpful and even refused to connect my call to the supervisor or manager as they were supposedly in a meeting. I kept insisting to talk to either and only then did the staff agreed to move me to a Loft room (HA 301).

Hotel was very nice and the room was great for my family of 5. We spent most our days away from the hotel at one of the beaches and the Hotel staff was great at helping us get where we wanted to go. The free shuttle service was great for us. The hotel was further away from DMall and white beach but the ride was not bad. Sometimes at night, there was a long line to catch the free shuttle back to the hotel but they were pretty good at sending additional shuttles to pick people up. I was not that impressed with the food for breakfast and that would be my only complaint.

The hotel is in a beautiful location in the mountains, room excellent, so are the grounds and pool. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. On the downside it was a 20-25 minutes drive from the hotel to the centre, mainly because of 3 sets of roadworks with stop go boards, volume of traffic & local flooding. The hotel shuttle ran once every hour to the centre & also to Puka beach, where free sun lounges & towels were provided. The hotel and resort is swarming with Chinese & Korean tourists, who in general were rude, selfish & noisy. We went for the complimentary breakfast at 8.15 the first day & couldn't get a seat in the main restaurant & had to locate downstairs. Most of the food was gone, the Chinese seemed like vultures to me, their plates piled high with food. I managed to get cold scrambled eggs but couldn't eat it, so went to a restaurant to buy breakfast. The next day we went for breakfast at 7.15, same story, I complained to the staff and they brought me fresh food, I'm not complaining about the hotel but the other guests, such a shame they spoiled our stay. I wasn't on my own with my opinion, other European guests felt the same way, even the staff recognised the problem, but what can they do? I won't be going back there, that's for sure!

Overall, my stay has been pleasant as a solo traveller. The perks like the shuttle to D Mall and Puka Beach was awesome. The downside will be, they have no control over the tourist coming to their side of the Puka Beach. Some rowdy group of tourist will just claim some space and that. The drivers of the shuttle can drive more gentle, easy on the brakes, we do not have any seatbelts on the shuttle.

The plus for me is the staff. Very accommodating. Kudos to Karen of the front desk, Anabel of the restaurant and Cherry from the Housekeeping. The towels that can be borrowed from the pool and Puka is very helpful.

The food in the restaurant is somehow pricey but the servings are plenty.

The staff at Alta Vista were absolutely lovely. The hotel grounds were immaculate but the rooms need a small upgrade as they were comfortable but dated.
The free shuttle to station 2 and Puka Beach meant you didnt feel like you missed out on anything by not staying on the beach.
Breakfast was interesting, Alta Vista definitely caters to their Asian clientele and being Australian, we struggled to find appealing food. My daughter ate steamed rice every morning and i ate scrambled eggs without toast as they only had these tiny sweet bread rolls.
All in all it was a fabulous hotel that we felt safe and comfortable.

Awesome value-for-money hotel.

This is a wonderful value-for-money hotel. 5 star feels at 3 star prices. It is about a 15-20min ride from the main beach (Station 1) but they offer a convenient shuttle service. What I like about the shuttle service is that they add additional vans if needed. This is the perfect place if you want to unwind and relax. It has a view of the ocean and mountain.!

This hotel has a private area on Puka Beach. Very serene and away from the public beach of Puka.

The hotel’s amenities are top-notch. The infinity pool is marvelous and the water is perfect (not too much chlorine)

The breakfast buffet is decent. Better than what I expected for the price. Simple choices but flavorful.

The BEST part of this hotel is the amazing STAFF. Everyone was extra courteous and helpful. From the front desk to the concierge to the drivers and attendants. Everyone always greeted you with a smile. Check in and check out was a breeze. They allowed for early check in but not for late check out.

Something to note is that 95% of the guests here are either Chinese or Korean but I noticed that the staff always take extra effort when dealing w Filipino guests.

I definitely recommend this place. The main beach of Boracay (Station 1-3) is already overrun with tourists. It is chaotic. This hotel is perfect m.

Nice hotel with an excellent view.

Though its clean and spacious, you can see the sign of aging from the rooms. But the breath taking views compensates all its shortcomings.

No room slippers and bathrobes available in the room. But i think you can request it but i just didn't bother as it should be readily available in the room.

The breakfast buffet is \"acceptable\" on some days, and \"just ok\" on some. But you better be early in the breakfast as the hotel is full of Chinese tourists and they will finish everything up in just a blink of an eye.

The pool was just awesome. I dont mind it being a bit far from Station 1-3 of Boracay as the hotel offers complimentary shuttle to and from D'mall where they have a proper waiting area / lounge. and also a shuttle service to Puka beach where Alta Vista have their own private area for their guests.

A Hotel A Bit Far From the Beach

Although the room was spacious it had bed bugs. The food selection selection during breakfast was so so. Its hard to get a table for breakfast as it had so many guests. Fortunately the staff were always nice enough to help us get a table. Though there was a shuttle provided going to beach the guests particularly the Chinese didn't line up. They would just push their way without regard for other guests. Quite rude for tourists.

though its far from white beach, they have free shuttle, but the traffic is worse, so sometimes it will take 40 mins just to go the main beach.i have few suggestion:
1. sometimes the shuttle waiting area at dmall is crowded, the attendant that was assigned there should manage the queu by say giving queu numbers to people based on order of arrival it wont cost anything.its hot, humid and ur standing, and someone just push their way to queu, why the enployee that was assigned there doesnt notice the situation ?

2. i get it that its secluded and private so no option for dining but to dine there and brave the traffic through there 40 mins shuttle.. but the restaurant have just two page of menu??? really? how manu rooms do you have ? 500? and yet u have a lone restaurant with two page menu both lunch and dinner? one morething, we were told theur bulalo was ordered somewhere.. Why not hire a good chief, stock food items and cook there...no problem wih only 1 resto, but at least diversify your menu. make it truly international including filipino food. remember its a secluded hotel, not everyone will travel almost an hour one way just to eat and then another hour to come
back plus the terrible queing situation at ur pick up place at d mall.

3. the shower curtain has lot of dried nose booger that was left there probably a month ago...the foot towel originally white but its totally brown. its disgusting..

It was overall an enjoyable stay. The main tourist area can be a bit overwhelming being solicited every two minutes on a walk is a bit much, but you get used to it. A beautiful island to see.

Very nice place but not really close to anything.

Very good for a quiet getaway. Staff was great. Be sure you include breakfast, which was good enough. Restaurant for dinner was expensive but they had a shuttle to the mall and to pula beach.

I booked the hotel months before and it was easy because Expedia has so many featured hotels and a lot of discounts. As soon as we arrived to D'Mall weve been told that there's a shuttle service for free for hotel guests. When we came to Alta Vista, we were greeted and treated well by the staffs. The staff helped us with our luggages and showed our loft suite. The hotel is peaceful, bfast buffet is delicious, staffs are very approachable, free access to wifi, as well as Puka beach, free shuttle and the scenery is awesome and breath-taking. We will come back to Alta Vista for sure!

Nice apartments in the hills.

The hotel rooms are apartment blocks seperate from reception, so expect a bit of walking, but nice and roomy, though a bit of a musky smell in the entrance! Nice view from the balcony. Pool is spectacular!
There is a shuttle service to the hotels exclusive beach, about 5 mins away, which is a very nice beach, with lots of excersions. But the main beaches and action,is about 20 mins, by regular shuttle. But worth it.
The main problem is the airport! Its has just increased its runway to take bigger jets, but the new terminal will not be in operation till 2018, and the road to the hotel is through built up areas so expect a long trip to get to and from the hotel!!

Nice relaxing stay in Boracay away from the crowds

Service was great. Location great. Room was great. But why do they have a diesel generator building right next to the pool, restaurant and lounge/lobby? I understand that Boracay has electric power issues and it is nice for them to have extra power for brownouts etc. BUT it is not nice to sit in the restaurant and hear the load generator. And in the pool to smell the diesel fumes. Please move this diesel generator building somewhere else on the property ... they have space.

Enjoyable stay at Alta Vista De Boracay

This is a very nice hotel and seems very well managed. Excellent staff. Everyone we encountered seems very helpful. My only gripe is with the restaurant food as I think it could be better. Some of the dishes seem a little too sweet for my taste due to some of the sauces they use. The location is very quiet away from the crowds of White Beach. The shuttle service is excellent and a great perk when staying at this hotel.

Booked 3 rooms. Check in was very slow for all three (three different times). Resort caters to big (Southeast Asian) tour groups. For the first room, the front desk girl asked what my relationship was to my mother in law & what our nationalities were (I am Filipino, she is Chinese) and basically questioned why we were together. Was very odd. It is too bad their service wasn't better, I probably would not stay here again. There are many other options on the island...try the Hennan Regency instead.

Boracay Off The Beaten Path

I rec=served this hotel because of its location, away from the \"Vegas like strip\" along station 1 and 2. This was more family friendly and peaceful location versus the busy and chaotic side of Boracay.The staff were always courteous. The buffet breakfast was up to par with hotels in the states with an added bonus of Filipino entrées. Yes! Also, even though they did not let us know that the pool was not functional during our stay, they offered for us to go to the near by hotel and use their pool.
The only negative experience we had was that the hotel representative made us believe that the fee of the van we were using for the island tour would be of the same price whether we had them call the van from outside sources vs. if we got the van ourselves from outside the hotel. BEWARE.
The loft unit was really nice for 4 people. It gave the people some privacy versus having a simple open hotel room for 4 people.

Alta vista slightly disappointing

Unfortunately alta Vista didn't live up to our expectations. It was 'the end of the line' for accomodation. Furthest away from everything. The view was disappointing as they are in the process of building another resort next door. The room was comfortable and the staff very friendly but seemed to lack some kind of supervision/direction. the food was cold and tasteless. Hardly anyone ate in the restaurant. It also lacked atmosphere. People were only in the lobby as this was the only place with wifi. They could serve drinks there or have some kind of entertainment to bring the place to life.

Nice resort, it's not close to white beach but they have an hourly service to take you to D*Mall the whole day and they also have a private beach which you can access that isn't crowded (Puka Beach), buffet breakfast was included which was very good and if you like a quiet night it's perfect especially if you want to relax at the infinity pool without the crowd perfect mix of privacy and relaxation as you have options on what you can do rather than being in the crowded white beach. Staff is always helpful and happy to assist you where they can.

Relaxing Stay!

Alta Vista was great. The staff were very friendly, in particular the shuttle drivers and restaurant staff. The highlights were the views, infinity pool and spacious room. It was slightly far away from the main section however, it was not a hassle to get to and from the resort because of the excellent shuttle service Alta Vista provided.
The downside to the resort was the food. It was very average, in particular the breakfast. The wifi was only available in the main lobby area which was not ideal. The wifi connection was also very slow and dropped out on several occasions. Overall it was a nice, relaxing stay.

they never change the bed sheets, and only washed two big towels but not the other towel's plus didn't empty rubbish bin and didn't give me any extra toilet rolls not enough for two people, didn't clean the balcony,breakfast was to ordinary not what expected in a 4 star hotel even for x-mas wasn't enough variate of food.
no wifi in the room need wifi in room didn't say if the wifi was in the lobey and not in the room and wifi was slow as well and getting bad signal.

What a perfect stay!

Even though it rained (really hard) during our stay in Boracay my gf and I really loved the hotel, including free private access to Puka beach, the awesome Christmas time decorations, and the infinity pool at the edge was really enjoyable, though the hot tub was out of order. THe staff were some of the best I have encountered at any hotel. The buffet was alright my gf enjoyed more than I did. Overall though I still rate this place 5/5. If you plan on staying here I highly suggest getting the loft. The room was kept well and I enjoyed the view also

First going into the room impression was amazing, space was great the only down side was the veiw. The restaurant menu was very affordable and offered a variety traditional and standard options, even better the hotel allows you to have friends to enjoy the facilities with even if they are not staying which I thought was great. The shuttle bus to d mall should leave more often as waiting in the heat wasn't very nice. Overall a great place to stay clean and the security I saw at least 30 police officers around the premesis.. The staff are friendly and when I return to Boracay I will stay here again.

The hotel is excellent in every way!! Staff are helpful and polite. Clean and cozy room. The mountain view from our balcony and we could see the beach as well. The breakfast buffet is a hit!! We wake up every morning and excited to see whats for breakfast. Everyday is different! I love the fresh fruits!! The swimming pool is fun and you get to barrow towels right beside the pool! Beach is about 20mins away but there is a shuttle provided by the hotel that runs every hour. We would stay here again and again :)!! Thanks Alta Vista!! till next time :)

Bad breakfast & great beaches

Alta Vista is placed on the top of the hill and one can feel it by the pool when it gets windy.
Hotel is nice, provides a shuttle to the D-Mall from 8am to there until midnight from there.
You cannot expect much from the neighborhood as it very poor around. But you can expect at least a good food breakfast - unfortunately, this was a big fail. The food was not good. I am not picky with food and I can eat almost everything and in diverse quality. So I ended with eating only fruits and having corn flakes with milk (the milk was served with ice :). I would strongly recommend to Alta Vista management to get some good chef or send somebody from the existing kitchen staff to gain more experience elsewhere as elsewhere is still better than that.
Puka beach was great place with shuttle going there every hour. White beach is traditionally crowded which makes it a hot spot for single people.

Good value hotel but isolated and restaurant food

Firstly, Boracay is hard to get to and especially as Philippine domestic flights are frequently delayed. As an island it is considerably more crowded than it was when I last went there 5 years ago. Alta Vista Hotel is a very large hotel spread over quite a large area and 15 minutes van drive from the main resort and beach areas. The hotel runs hourly free van rides to and from the main beach and resort area. My wife and I chose the upstairs/downstairs more expensive room .... but don't choose if you are elderly or sleep walk because the bed is near the stairs the stairs are steep and dangerous. Everything worked OK in the room except Internet, which was advertised as available in the room for payment but only worked in reception where it is free.

Jayson from the guest services desk is the star and the reason why it earned a 3 not a 2 in my opinion. He really went all out to help me out and certainly deserves a nice tip

Eds from front desk is amazing too. She was v helpful and sweet. Definitely it's the people that make alta vista bearable. I stayed for only 1 night and moved to fairways and blue waters (couldn't get 3 nights in fairways so booked 1 night alta 2 nights fairways)

Rooms - a few things were falling apart but I didn't mind it much as they were large loft units and make for great house parties.

Food - only had the breakfast and it was something you should probably pass on

Location - farrrrr.. Each shuttle service took a while to get there and to wait for. They compensated by improving frequency of shuttles which was great though!

People - as it is a large hotel, you get all sorts - partying locals, prcs, Koreans and other south East Asians. Mostly big groups.

The hotel was very flexible with our needs. Thank you alta vista!

I called up the hotel prior to the arrival to verify our bookings. We booked 2 rooms, but only one reflects in their reservation list. So I asked help from expedia to clarify with Alta Vista. Then when we arrived at the hotel, still only one room was recognized under my name. I had to call up expedia to arrange everything.

Check in time was supposedly 2pm, but they were only able to give us our room at past 5pm already!!! Busy season is not an excuse. If they know it's peak season, then they should increase their cleaning staff. And speak of staff, people who work there doesnt seem to have an adequate hospitality training. Cleaning staff are always hanging out by the stairs, just sitting and talking to each other. I witnessed this not just once, twice, but more than few occasions.

Hotel is barely OK to stay in, just do not expect much:
1. awful breakfast buffet
2. not too nice amenities
3. spa was terrible
4. earliest shuttle is 8:40am, what if someone wants to catch an early sunrise beach spot?

Although I was not really expecting much since the rate is very friendly, the service was good. We were given a room far from the lobby but the hotel provided shuttle going to our building and going to DMall everytime we asked since the hotel is far from White beach. There was also shuttle provided going to Puka Beach, where the hotel had special access. They provided beach towels and beach chairs and drinks are also available for guests to purchase. On our first day, we had lunch at the restaurant. Food was ok but we did not consider having another meal in the hotel. Breakfast was also ok but we were hoping for bacon to be served and we were hoping for more variety. They also ran out of fruits and the juice glasses I think were not washed properly since they had a certain smell. When we checked in, toothbrushes were not provided and some of the toiletries were also missing. There wasn't also a mat on the floor of the bathroom and there was a sock left at the couch by another guest which was probably not seen when they cleaned up our room before we got there. Generally ok, service was good but needs to look into the small details. The shuttle is very convenient but I think at night when more guests need to go back to hotel, they should add more trips.
