It is sad to see a hotel decline as this Novotel has. I have been staying here each year for about the past 4 or 5 years and steadily see services and quality go down but the prices increase! Where do I start:
Reception - some (read very few)staff were good - others just rude and very inattentive. For example, I called four times as the remote for the TV did not work properly. They answered the first two times then the following two times just hung up. I could not get the TV to turn off so I ended up having to sleep the first night with the TV on and sound muted ... not ideal. The following day I went to reception to explain and finally they swapped out the remote.
Air conditioning just didn't work and I had to resort to having the window open 24 x 7. Lots of street noise !!
I was on the executive floor which used to have a complimentary bar which was topped up each day. Now you get a (very) cut down version when on check in and that's it. No top up.
The \"business centre\" in the lobby - printer didn't work, and I ended up having to get my one page on to a USB stick and reception printed it.
If you have dined there over the last few years, the menu really has not changed,
My room wasn't cleaned the first day and I had to request it to be done. Also there is a large water stain on the wall. The room looked like it really needed to be updated or at least dep cleaned.
Will I stay there again next year? I don't really know. I know there are far better places at better prices

Amazing stay

It was truly amazing, the breakfast was a 10/10 from both me and my partner. There was a waffle matching and a pancake maker and the buffet was amazing, the beds and rooms are comfy and spacious, the whole hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location so close to town.

Location was ok. Beside a busy few roads and a bit of a walk from the old town. Was very handy to an old brewery shopping mall though. The room was spotless and decent size. eat at the hotel but the coffees in the hotel were expensive compared to local cafes. Staff never told us of the Poznan card which would have saved money on the trams and events. But apart from that very happy with the hotel these are very minor complaints.

Provide a key for the toilet

Overall I am very pleased. Nice modern hotel in a cool high rise. Price is good and the breakfast whilst not as good as the one in Novotel Warsaw completely acceptable(even if the coffee was not that great).

However, I can suggest 2 improvements.

1. The Shampoo bottle in the bath was almost depleted. It looks just shabby to have a 1/4 full shampoo bottle.
2. Why is there no key to your bathroom. We were 4 people sharing a room(2 adults + 2 kids) - it is uncomfortable you can't lock the door and anybody an accidently walk in on you any moment.

Some elevators were out of service. After 10 minutes I could not get down to leave the hotel. I tried to walk but there is no way. This is a fire hazard, an extreme inconvenience. I’m am fine to walk down stairs when the elevators are out of service but in this hotel it was not possible to do this and honestly felt dangerous trying to find an alternative way down to exit.

All good for this booking.

You will find two reviews by me for this hotel that looks like the same booking. This one covers Friday to Monday for the family in a separate room.
As the issues with room locations did not effect the family it is fair to say everything was very good. They had an enjoyable stay and the children aged 3 and 1 loved the small play area that kept them and many other children busy.
Would we all stay again? Its a definite yes.

The good, the not so good.

We stayed for one week. Our room was prep't for just one person. Its two hotels with one reception and very busy at peak times. The Novotel rooms (called superior) were very good, big TV, good bathroom, clean, well maintained and comfortable. Breakfast offers a decent selection and quality. Within a 15 minute walk you can be in all the important places in the city centre and the station.
What spoiled our stay. I also booked a second room for Friday to Monday so our Polish family could drive to us. When booking both rooms I asked if they could be close (they have 2 very small children). This request was confirmed by the hotel in an email. On our arrival reception confirmed it was in our room notes. Going to collect the keys on Friday afternoon the second room was on floor 13, ours floor 16. Reception said sorry we cannot change it. Later after a conversation in Polish with the manager it was agreed we (without any assistance offered) we would relocate to floor 13. This meant two large cases plus all the shopping and Christmas presents we had been out and bought for the family plus the issues of packing - unpacking all over again.
Rooms are identical just furniture moved to open a put-you-up third bed. To add to my annoyance about one hour later and mid move a family arrived on floor 16 having just booked in. I had a word and saw it was identical to my second room. They had not checked in, so had management bothered to look, a simple computer change could have sorted it.

Novotel was very nice and comfortable. Close to the old town and there is a shopping center a block away. Excellent restaurants are only a few blocks away -- I recommend the bread/pita store on Stary Rynek. Helpful and friendly staff.

Very good indeed but 2 quibbles. The hotel Car park was full as the machine and receptionist said on intercom. We found a place but help and directions would have been nice.
We ate late and ordered ice cream as dessert for my 7yr old when we ordered our min course but when tte time came we were told the kitchen was closed. He was upset

Back again, delightful as last time

I’ve stayed here before, and I would definitely return again. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the breakfast buffet was fantastic and had many options available. As a non-Polish speaker, I was not worried about communicating with the staff, they had superior English language skills.

floors 1 - 5 are Ibis 3 star. Floors 6 - 16 are Novotel 4 star. We booked Novotel but on arrival allocated Ibis - no tea or coffee, very basic. Staff insisted we booked standard room, which were Ibis. Eventually moved to Novotel room. Understand in January 2019 Floors 1 - 5 will be launched and marketed as 3 star Ibis.

One star hotel. Only location is good.

I picked this hotel for its location. A short walk to the Old Town. Other than that everything else was a disaster. The hotel was under construction, all you could feel was a dust. I guess Novotel management conveniently forgot to mention that on their website. Breakfast which was not included in the price of the room ( 4 star hotel!) was 60 zloty ( about $20 ) per person. 4 star hotel in NYC, Rome or Barcelona charges $10 to $15 for breakfast. Poznan is a very nice city but it's not a NYC or Rome and never will be. For parking garage Novotel charges you 75 zloty ( $25 ) per day! Outrageous! Rooms were not updated since the 80's. Quality of a picture on TV was so poor I was not able to watch it. There is no coffee machine and no iron board and iron in the room. Beds are so narrow and mattresses so hard it's almost impossible to sleep. No extra pillows and blankets. A/C blows only warm air. I have absolutely no idea how this hotel got 4 stars. I would rate it 1 star for it's location. Stay away from this place. I will never be back.

I did like the room itself, except there was no kettle in my room, which is always a pain for me. Hair dryer was useless as it probably will take hours until my hair would be dry if I used it. But the bed is the most comfortable bed I ever slept in. And bathroom looked like it was absolutely new.

Nice Hotel Between Train Station and Old Town

This is a large modern hotel a quick walk from the train station. The old town square is also a short walk away. The room was large, modern, and comfortable. I only stayed one night, so didn’t use any other facilities of the hotel.

The hotel has been updated to very modern. Only my wife who grew up and lived in Poznan knew the hotel was 20 years old. I thought it was very New because of the updated appearance. The WiFi was sporadic but I allotted it to our room being at a far corner. When I wanted to order room service, they asked me what I'd like. When I told them, I was told they didn't have any more hamburgers. I asked for a salad since it was marked available 24 hrs. I was told they sold the last one and all they had left were soups. While I decided which soup, they told me that ONLY. Tomato soup was left. I chose to go without. The menu looked nice and good prices, but probably not available except during regular dinner hours, but there are MANY fine and reasonable places to eat within two blocks.

Chose the Novotel based on location at quality at a reasonable price. Nearly 20 mins walk from the main railway station and 15-20 mins to the old town square and close to a tram stop.

Rooms were comfortable but seemed old style. Hotel seems to have started making changes and looks like merging with Ibis for 2018.

clean hotel with good size rooms for single traveller but lacks some basic amenities. The \"lounge bar\" used for breakfast is more like a cafe and crowded with bus tours. The paper cups and powdered creamer for tea and coffee in the rooms could be better too.

Typical Novotel. Modern refurbished tower block. Hotel entirely fit for purpose, clean, comfortable etc etc. We spent 3 nights here for a Lake Malta rowing event. Location is 10 minute walk to the Old City, and a 45 minute walk to Lake Malta. Plenty of public transport alternatives, particularly trams, if you don't fancy the walk. If you need to travel in the City at rush hour, the area is often gridlocked, so use the trams or walk.

One Night in Poznan

We made a family rail tour (circuit) of Poland and stopped in Poznan for 1 night. The hotel was within sight of the train station (5- 10 minute walk). It was also about a 20 minute walk from Old Town. Staff allowed us to check in early, and were very helpful. Room decour was a little dated, but good and clean. I would stay there again. Room was quiet, and neighborhood seemed safe for walking day or night.

Staff at Reception were excellent. Check in was smooth and staff were helpful throughout our stay. We used the restaurant for breakfast and found it clean and efficient with a good range of well-cooked food. Room facilities were generally good although the ambient temperature was too warm and the air-conditioning did not seem to work. Poor range of tea/coffee making materials which were not restocked.

Lovely hotel in a good location.

We only stayed for a couple of nights but found the hotel clean and easy, along with helpful and friendly staff. We were travelling with two children under the age of two and two children below the age of ten so this could have been stressful but was eased by such a good hotel. The only issue we had was that the travel cots hadn't been put into our rooms. However, after explaining a few times, this was soon rectified.

The area was great, only a ten minute walk from the Old Town Square where there are many restaurants to choose from and beautiful architecture. Maps and guides of Poznan were freely available in the hotel to give you ideas.

The breakfast was also great. We thought that it was expensive at first until we found out that only adults had to pay...the children were free! The selection of breakfast meant that there was something that everyone liked with some examples of Polish food to try.

I have stayed here for the past 3 years on an annual trip to Poland. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location can't be much better. Just a short walk to shops, restaurants, and city center. Truly you can't go wrong staying in this hotel.

It's a pretty standard hotel, and certainly not the best Novotel I've ever stayed at! The fixtures and fittings in the reception area are perfectly good, but the rooms are in need of a bit of TLC. Having said that, the bath was brilliant (deep)!

WiFi was good, location is decent (10 minutes walk from the Old Town) and Poznan Glowny station, and for the price, I have no complaints.

As for Poznan itslef - I was at a conference nearby for 2 days, so I spent one extra day in Poznan to check out the city. It's very small, but charming, friendly, cheap and pretty. You can probably see all there is to see in half a day, though! And spend the rest of the day shopping, perhaps?!

Big disappointment!

The slowest check in and check out I have ever experienced! Had added 4 days of breakfasts for 4 people to my bill, that I thankfully noticed and got deducted, but that was a 45 minute process! Corridors smelt of cigarette smoke. Very slow lifts, or maybe three lifts are not enough for 16 floors!

Conveniently located hotel, rooms a bit odd

My husband and I stayed at the Novotel for a three nights recently. The location of the hotel is great - a quick walk to old town, across from the Old Brewery Center. Staff responded to our questions and requests well.

Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. However, our first room (the most basic offered) had brown colored water from the shower and sink. We asked for an upgrade as we didn't want to take showers in that or make coffee with brown water. The staff kindly upgraded us to a room on the 15th floor, which had clear water (but it still tasted bad) and a proper coffee machine. However, there were hardly any plugs in this room (e.g., for charging phones, laptops, batteries) and no drinking water was provided (as it was with the lower-level room). My suggestions for room improvements would be to ensure that the water system is clean, provide a bottle of water (as the tap water tastes bad) and add more plugs.

It is perfectly located across from a mall that has a grocery store, food court and even nice restaurants. It is a 15 min brisk walk to the train station or Expo or a 5 min taxi ride. They also have a great breakfast buffet in the morning. The staff was extremely helpful. The price was probably equal to many of the hotels in the area once you figured the taxi ride to and from the Expo each day. I loved to walk in the area it is situated. My only complaint was that I could not control the temperature in my room adequately. I like my room really cold and even with an open window it took time to cool down at night. The control is a central control there were no individual air conditioning units for these rooms. I like my room cold even in winter so it probably isn't on most every one's radar.

Brilliant staff......replace old beds!!

Walking through the entrance doors with marble floors and stunning, decorative pots that adorned the route to reception, everything seemed very promising. I was given a twin room - even though I booked a queen-size bed and it said so on the confirmation that I handed the receptionist - I was given a twin room. I asked to be moved after the first night as the bed was sunk in the middle and very uncomfortable. This request was met by one of the lovely reception staff and I was given another room with a queen size bed. During the evening (7pm) I flushed the toilet and it just kept filling with water. When I went to reception to report this, the lady was very apologetic and said no-one was on site to fix this and offered me a different room. So, I was on my third room of a 3 night stay. Unlucky with the loo problem, but the sunken bed on night one needs replacing! All the staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good.

Good hotel

It is a good hotel, great location! Rooms very clean, very nice breakfast in the morning. The only one little bad thing, the shower curtain made the bathroom and the room smell bad.
