Giving 3 stars mainly because amenities definitely need an upgrade - especially the shower. Rooms were just ok - no elevators. our room was in second floor and when we checked out, no staff was available at reception so we struggled to carry 5 suitcases from 2nd floor to lobby. For the price I paid, expected an upscaled room.

Pros - convenient location to elcalafate city for restaurants/cafe and convenient for tour pick up

The hotel’s exterior and communal areas are lovely, the same can’t be said about our room which is a shame. Style over substance. The room was a good size however it is the hardest mattress I have ever slept on! There was not a lot of light in the room either and the bathroom was very haphazard in construction.

Rooms were a little hot at night as the weather in Calafate was much warmer than usual, no a/c but rooms were clean and comfortable. A little noisy at times with people walking past the balconies. Great location with the Main Street a few minutes walk away and a nice park across the road.
Augustin on the front desk was fantastic and helped us book a couple of excursions, get some laundry done and gave us some good recommendations for places to eat and for drinks. Great guy!

Good breakfast - continental style, scrabbled eggs, toast, pancakes.
Friendly staff - they run their own local tour agency, which we used for our three trips, all picking up from the hotel.
Hotel well situated for centre of town, a few 100m away.

The hotel is centrally located, close to downtown and the front desk staff are outgoing and helpful. There is a shortcut to the bus station which works well if you just have a backpack. For larger luggage, you will need a taxi. There are lots of dining options in the downtown area, and the street is lined with many shops, which was surprising for this small town. The breakfast is adequate and they will serve you a portion of scrambled eggs on request. The rooms are a bit tight, and not sound proof, and the shower setup wasn’t in the best shape. If you have a room on the first floor and have a lot of luggage, you’ll have to haul it up the stairs. Given the location, convenience, and included breakfast, this is an ok place for a couple of nights.

I liked the room however the walls need to be cleaned.
Watch out for the kitchen lady. She will not allow you to pack your own breakfast to go. Everything must be eaten in front of her in the dining room. Many tours start early so it would be nice of them to allow breakfast to go. Other places will pack it for you.

As a solo female hiker, I spent 3 nights at Hotel del Glaciar Libertador and felt like I got value for money as far as convenience and location. When I first got there, it was peak summer season and I was very worried at check in when the printout of hotel guests with reservations did not include my name.I had just flown over 40 hours from Malaysia and didn't have backup plans! Luckily the receptionist sorted me out, citing a system error between Expedia and the local hotel booking system (I hope they have resolved this!) and luckily there was a room available for me. I still give them 5 stars because they sorted it out quickly and I had all the convenience I needed. The buffet breakfast was a delivious toast and fruits every morning, simple but hearty. All my tour companies (Hielo y Aventura and Solo Patagonia) had no problem picking me up in the mornings because it's a very recognizable hotel in a central location. My room was very spacious and clean, and well equipped with the amenities I needed to relax after strenous hikes everyday. It's also walking distance (about 5-10 minutes) of the city center where all the shops and dining is. There is a convenient grocery store next door for simple snacks. Although this hotel has many backpackers (I think) I got a lot of privacy in my room and it was very safe and quiet for me.

I think this is a great place to stay if you plan to be exploring most of the day. It’s clean and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are simple - no frills but sufficient for a good stay. Note - the bed is slightly on the hard side. The breakfast selection is rather sparse. It’s a pleasant location and makes for a good walk to the downtown strip. An excellent value.

This hotel was in a good location, a short walk to the main part of town in El Calafate. The staff were helpful and kind. We were three people in a room. The space felt a bit tight, but we were only in town for two nights. We took advantage of their excursion offering and were so happy with the service. Breakfast was great in a nice cabin like hotel space.

Front desk reception was extremely unhelpful. My trip took 12 hours longer than expected. I arrived at 9:28am after missing the night in the hotel. Breakfast normally ended at 9:30am. Even though I was 2 minutes before the deadline, I was told I could not get breakfast, even after my delayed travel experience.

The lady in the kitchen was going to make me eggs, but the receptionist went out of her way to cancel the order.

Generally, the receptionist seemed to enjoy exercising 'petty' power.

Nice hotel within walking distance of the main street in El Calafate with restaurants and bars. Reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was fairly basic, but did offer cooked eggs on request. The room was nice - ours was on a heated corridor and also had under-floor heating - which was very useful for drying clothes and boots after a rainy day.

We booked our room months in advance. We asked for a queen size bed. When we arrived in the hotel, there was only one person to check us in. I understand that she, Andre, was doing her best. She was pleasant and welcoming but it took about 40 minutes to check in due to having to answer many, many questions from guests who were checking in before us. To wait that long to check in is quite unacceptable in any hotel. Not good. The hotel should have another person to assist with check in.

She believed we had booked a room with two twin beds but we had requested a queen size bed. When she finally took us to our room, it looked nothing like the photos we had seen on Expedia. The room was extremely small, not clean, old and unkept (rust, furniture in bad shape) no TV, a window with a view to a small piece of dirt and walls, no safe for our passports, only two bath towels and two hand towels. We were shocked and disappointed. Again, that looked nothing like the photos shown on Expedia.

We left the hotel immediately. We never had such a frustrating experience at a hotel. We felt deceived because we would never have booked and paid in advance for a room like the one they gave us.

Pictures don’t quite make justice to the place. Good size room and so was the bathroom, bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful, they even helped us book some tours to the glaciar park and other activities. Location was great, walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops in town. El Calafante is mostly a Base for your daily excursions. This lodging is well-suited and more than adequate for this purpose. Upscale lodgings are available in this City - but are unnecessary- unless you've \"got to have it\"

Fantastic location, really central for town and pickups which you can't fault, relaxed vibe and really helpful reception staff. The breakfast was okay but had an early start which was handy. Our room was showing signs of wear and tear but were made up daily. You could hear a lot of noise from the walkways which started early given folk were off and away on excursions - take earplugs.

One off the main reason to choose this hotel was the payment will do in the hotel.
Despite this condition the hotel charge mi credit card in US$ before arrival and did not permit me to pay in the hotel either at arrival check in or leaving.
This is important because exist with argentina a serius matter regards the exhchange rate between ARS$ and US$. (currency arbitrage)
And the pay in US$ is almost the double. The owner of hotel did not made anything to correct this situation
This is a not completion of its obligations as what as agreed.

We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean and comfortable. We loved the open spaces and there plenty of places to relax. The only negative thing we found was the wifi, it wasn’t password protected so each time you wanted to use it you had to reconnect and accept the terms and conditions. It would log out each time you locked your phone. But this was only a small inconvenience, it was a fabulous hostel otherwise.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hostel and Suites del Glaciar Libertador. Our rooms were clean and tidy as was the rest of the hostel. The breakfast was great, kitchen was fairly clean and there was plenty of space to relax in.
The only thing we found frustrating was the wifi. There is no passcode but each time you wanted to access it you had to reconnect to it. So if we were using our phones and locked them they would no longer have wifi connected and we’d have to unlock them and follow the sign in process again manually.

We stayed in Glaciar Libertador for 4 nights and we were really comfortable. The libertador av it’s one of the most important in the area so everything we needed was nearby... supermarkets, bars, restaurants, tours and souvenir shops.
The front desk guys are really nice and they offer tours as well. We used the laundry service and they delivered the clothes the same day, which is nice and convenient.
Breakfast was delicious, they give toasts and crepes, fruits and juices but you can also order scrambled eggs.
We stayed in a private room and even if it was really cold outside, our room was really warm and cozy and we never felt cold at all... we think the floors had temperature control as they were always warm but not quite sure if that’s the case...
Also something super important for us it’s the shower, and here both the water pressure and temperature was amazing! Warm showers are important after walking on a glacier!

This is a great hostal f o r those looking to be based centrally, 10 min easy walk from bus terminal and 5 mins easy walk to main street, supermarkets, restaurants etc. The breakfast is great and includes eggs and pancakes! The staff are very helpful. The rooms ( 4 person dorm) are spacious with own bathroom. The shared kitchen is great and hardly used.

While the service was great, I unfortunately had to leave before I stayed here. There were signs of bed bugs in two different rooms, and I could not risk traveling with this problem. It's clear that they have had problems with them as the beds are stripped when you arrive. Mattresses look very old. I know it is a low price, but I was able to get so much more value at Calfate Hostel and a clean room. Front desk person was very nice, and it us in a good part of the town. Hopefully thet will make some upgrades and work on this, using matress protectors.

Amazing price for private room and bath in hostel. Nice shower, separate toilet room, large sink area. Heated tile floors. Bed was a bit hard, but tolerable. Breakfast was good, ask for eggs, there is a sign that not everyone notices. The desk service was excellent. They made phone calls for me when I had trouble with the language. The wifi was good on our first stay, but second stay we were in farthest room from lobby and could not get it. The location is excellent, we could walk to bus station, and also easy walk to town center, Overall, spent 4 nights in three different stays and was happy to return each time.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the bus terminal and the town centre. It’s a nice building and our double room was great. Definitely the nicest room we’ve had after over 6 weeks travelling on a budget. Unfortunately the WiFi signal didn’t stretch to our room though.
Staff were helpful and organised a glacier tour and airport taxi for us. Laundry wasn’t too expensive.
Breakfast was fairly good, if you can find the person who’s meant to cook your eggs for you!!
