Beautiful location up in the hill but not far from Malia or Stalis. Comfortable beds, great staff, very covid safe, rooms lovely decorated and modern. Beautiful clean pool with plenty of sun beds, definitely recommended will stay again

Stayed before and in these Covid times wanted somewhere familiar to call home for the week. As lovely and welcoming as we remembered it. Spotlessly clean rooms and outside areas. Stunning settings, just below the mountains, and a view down to the town and sea.
Staff can't do enough for you, let us check out late, no fuss.
15 mins walk to old Malia and its great choice of restaurants. All the restaurants know of Mare Monte, so well established.
Lying by the pool, trying to pick out the goats on the hillsides when you hear their bells clanging, idyllic.

Walking distance of old town with lovely restaurants or Malia central with associated bars, clubs and eateries.Staff were really helpful. Need a car/bike/quad to explore island which is bigger than people think. The rooms have a television BUT no English channels - disappointing given the number of Brits and English speaking tourists in Crete. Overall it was a great holiday.

Good, quiet hotel with excellent surroundings
The hotel is located in the hills back from Malia and Stalis which makes it very quiet. It does mean however that the access is up hill, so I would suggest hiring a car or quad bike/taking taxis. However walking to Malia old town is perfectly easy, and is a ten minute gentle downhill walk.
The hotel is small and so easy to get sunbeds, and isn't busy by the pool area. The pool bar is also reasonably priced, and cocktails in the evening are excellent for €6-7, using all branded spirits.
The room we had overlooked the sea and malia which was fantastic. Room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The only negative of the entire hotel was that the bathroom was small, particularly the shower, as the curtain wrapped right around as the shower was in a corner, and would therefore stick to you when washing.
I would therefore highly recommend the hotel, as the bathroom was still clean and perfectly functional, and the rest of the hotel was superb.

Scenic view, friendly staff, clean rooms
A lovely hotel, in a scenic location with a view of the mountains. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and approachable, very nice people who know their guests on first name basis. It is a nice retreat and is within 10 minute walking distance to the nice beach. This hotel is away from the toy town of Malia, which is full 16-19 year old party goers on quad bikes. The one thing that let this hotel down was again these exceptionally loud young ones, who were resident and took to shouting every night between 3am-5am.

From the moment we stepped off the aircraft in Crete we were greeted by a friendly drive sent from the hotel and on our 30 minute drive to the apartments he was an awesome tour guide, pointing out landmarks and things to do in the area. Upon arrival the driver took our bags and found the owner of the apartments and made sure we were all checked in and settled. The owner, Koula, showed us to our room and around the complex, gave us complimentary drinks while our room was prepared, we were 3 hours early, and we played mini golf before heading to our room less than 20 minutes later. The food at the apartments was delicious all home grown and made, couldn't get enough of the olives, feta cheese and the tomatoes, ok the greek salads the made fresh were the best we had ever had! All the staff at the apartments were wonderful, we were made to feel like family from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, with the staff coming out to say good bye. Our apartment was clean and had everything we needed, the views from our patio were amazing too. The pool area was welcoming and there was more than ample space to relax on a sun lounger and to play in the pool. My family and I are looking forward to visiting again and we strongly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation.

It was a great please. We had a morning walk in the mountains before breakfast.And the breakfast was just awesome with grapefruits directly from the three.Lovely people working there - and they all had a lot of informations about the things we wanted to do. The rooms was nice - lovely seaview from the balkony.Walking distence to Mali old town with lovely resturants and shoops - and also walking distence to the beach.Greate place - would love to go back

Koola was an absolute gem and just made you feel like home. She is such a sweet heart, has the most amazing dream in the homes she created there and the intellectual conversations we had, as I sipped on some Ouzo, just gave the perfect Greek experience. The owners were so nice. We stayed over Easter and they very kindly invited us to eat with them. They hotel was clean, beautiful, and close to town. The only problem was the heat wasn't the best but we had lots of blankets. I really had no complaints. They even gave us fresh fruit from their garden.

Wunderschöne Anlage, schöner Pool, alles sehr sauber und gepflegt. Meine Unterkunft war sehr gut eingerichtet, alles da, was man braucht. Die Betten sind traumhaft, die können mit jedem Luxushotel mithalten. Vom Balkon hat man einen wunderbaren Blick zum Meer. Das ganze Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, selbst bei einem Notfall mitten in der Nacht. Ich kann die Villa Mare Monte vorbehaltlos weiterempfehlen.

Vi hade en utmärkt vistelse på detta hotell. Det var lugnt och lite avsides från de mer livliga delarna av Malia. Vårt rum hade fantastisk utsikt över Malia och medelhavet. Vi var fem personer och alla hade ordentliga sängplatser (ej bäddsoffa eller liknande). Enkelt kök med kyl och frys och möjlighet till enklare matlagning. Pool med servering och vi hade alltid tillgång till solsängar.

Wat een heerlijke plek om te verblijven. De gastvrijheid en beleefdheid van het personeel helemaal top. Kleinschalig en rustig gelegen tussen de bergen maar wel op loopafstand van de zee en het centrum. Elke dag werd onze studio schoongemaakt. Voor de airco hoefde wij hier niet te betalen wat meestal anders is bij andere hotels. Wat ons betreft een 4 sterren waardig hotel. Wij hebben al vele studio's en appartementen gehad in Malia maar deze is by far the best! Het ontbijt en eten waren ook heerlijk. Via expedia geboekt middels een hele mooie aanbieding, echt blij met ons verblijf hier! Mochten wij terug komen naar Malia dan wordt dit onze eerste keuze. Petit hôtel familial au calme à deux kilomètres des plages. Service et personnels aux petits soins pour satisfaire nos besoins spécifiques. Le seul bémol est la salle de bain de l’appartement 12 qui mérite d’être rénovée car:
- elle est vétuste et étroite
- le WC et la douche sont dans la même pièce (heureusement nous étions en couple et pas avec deux enfants comme le prévoit la capacité de l’appartement)
- la douche est ouverte et toute la salle de bain est inondée à chaque douche
- il n’y a quasi aucune possibilité d’entreposer ses affaires de toilettes
La direction nous a informé que la rénovation de cette pièce était programmée pour 2024.
Malgré de désagrément, notre séjour était fantastique et nous reviendrions sans hésiter.

Fantastisk opphold.
Vi var kjempefornøyd med oppholdet på villa mare monte. De ansatte var super hyggelige og hjelpsomme med alt vi trengte eller lurte på. Rommet var rent og fint. Beliggenheten passet oss perfekt da hotellet lå i et stille og rolig område men med kun en liten spasertur ned til sentrum av Malia hvor vi hadde både butikker, Strand og tavernaer.

We hebben een hele leuke tijd gehad in deze accommodatie. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en altijd bereid te helpen. De kamers zijn mooi en schoon met mogelijkheid tot het langskomen van de schoonmakers op je eigen verzoek. Heel mooi uitzicht en een mooi rustige omgeving. Het duurde even voordat we doorhadden hoe de airco werkte en de gangen zijn wat gehorig, maar dat was eigenlijk het enige. Mogelijkheid tot elke dag ontbijt en diner (voor, hoofd en na) voor een goede prijs, zelfs als je niet inclusief hebt geboekt. Als je activiteiten via de accommodatie boekt wordt je of opgehaald of weggebracht wat heel fijn is aangezien de bussen niet altijd regelmatig rijden.
Het zwembad is heerlijk en er zit vrij weinig chloor in. Je kan zowel direct om het zwembad heen liggen als op twee verhogingen met genoeg schaduw. Overal (zowel op de kamer, als rond het zwembad en in de bar) is uitstekende wifi.
De accommodatie ligt wel wat verder lopen van het centrum (zowel oud als nieuw), de supermarkt en het strand af. Toch raak je snel gewend aan heen en weer lopen en het voordeel is dat de omgeving van de accommodatie zelf heel rustig en vreedzaam is. Zowel het drukke nieuwe deel van de stad met alle clubs en barretjes als het oude gedeelte met romantische restaurantjes en rustigere, lokale straten liggen op ongeveer dezelfde afstand waardoor je heel wat te ontdekken hebt. Saubere und vorallem ruhige kleine Unterkunft (Apartements/Studios) etwas außerhalb von Malia. Zimmer mit Meerblick über die Bucht von Malia. Sehr schön! Mietwagen nicht unbedingt notwendig aber empfehlenswert. Die Inhaberin sowie das Personal sind sehr sehr herzlich und man fühlt sich willkommen. Das angebotene Frühstück ist reichhaltig. Abendessen haben wird nicht in Anspruch genommen. Wir waren schon mal dort und werden auch wieder dorthin fahren.
