C’était bien pour un 4 étoiles, la porte de la douche avait l’air sale mais je crois que l’eau est dure.. Le personnel était vraiment sympathique ce qui a amélioré notre expérience. Le petit déjeuner inclus avec notre séjour varier et généreux mais pas le meilleur que nous avons eu!

The hotel is very conveniently placed right by the sandy beach. The room was very clean and generally the hotel areas are clean. The staff are very friendly and service was excellent.
Could do with outside toilets and changing rooms, so guests wouldn't have to go back to their room after a swim.

Property is a bit old style. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast and in general, food is good

Location and s good and got its private beach and sunbeds etc.

But its mainly for certain age group, mostly above 60 or so.

Location is a good to go to Platanias as well as Chania, short cab or bus drive to both those places for bars, restaurants and night life.

My husband and I chanced upon this property as we looked for a beach hotel.
Our first impression was met with a very warm welcome. During our stay we were so impressed we requested to extend our stay. Katerina was a wonderful host and this request was painless. Nothing is too much for her to make sure you are happy and comfortable and walks in and out of reception to the pool checking her guests needs are met. Excellent customer Service. The pool is clean and sparkling. Breakfast service impeccable. We are so impressed with this small private but comfortable hotel. Gold stars!

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and it was a last minute decision to book there. The position of the hotel is excellent - straight on the beach, with private beach of the hotel, and that’s exactly what we’ve booked this hotel for, together with the wish of having some fresh breeze and sound of the waves entering our room. For this we’ve originally booked a beachfront double, but managed to change for a suite, which had a large terrace overlooking the sea and the beach. As fantastic as it sounded, we could hardly keep the door to our terrace open, as our suite turned out to be just above/next to a kitchen, so instead of fresh air we’ve had smell of kitchen and some grill all the time. The hotel overall seemed to be something of an assembly line, in which there were so many guests, that, either because were not enough hands or time to clean the rooms thoroughly, the room didn’t give us an idea of freshness. The breakfast in the hotel is probably ticking all the boxes in terms of items to choose from in the breakfast buffet, but was very basic and didn’t impress us with the great quality. Then there was some language barrier, too, as a chef at the egg station didn’t manage to understand what “fried eggs” was. That said, the reception staff was friendly and the beach bar was fairly good. To sum up, great location, but only OK hotel.

Great location and amazing private beach. Hotel staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

The hotel per se however is outdated. The pool area is not appealing and breakfast could have been better. The bedroom was old, but decent size. Balcony of our room was dirty and with a broken chair, and the bathroom was a little dirty.

The hotel is nice and staff very careful. Unfortunately the first room we had was directly on the very noisy street in front of the hotel and we couldn't sleep at all because of the noise. We asked if we could have an other room and the one we were given had its air conditionning broken...and it was 40 degrees outside. The room didn t get cooler then 30... when we informed the reception they said the technician came and said the air conditionning was working properly and the room was cool but not at all. So at the end, we didn t sleep for 3 days and all we got was a fan! I was so disapointed and it occulted all the friendly staff's effort to make our stay enjoyable.

The hotel was closed, but they didn't inform us

We made a reservation and received a confirmation from Hotels.com few weeks in advance, and our credit card was charged. Called the hotel the day before arrival just to ask a few informative questions. Someone answered the phone and told me that the hotel is closed for the season. Few hours after that, I received an email from the hotel that they are indeed closed and proposed to move me to an affiliated hotel (which did not meet our needs). So few hours before the flight, we had to find another place to stay and change our trip plans and itinerary.
COULDN'T YOU TELL US THAT WHEN YOU RECEIVED THE RESERVATION?
Called Hotels.com - they were not aware of the fact that the hotel is closed - in their view we had to pay the entire amount because they thought we checked in. Eventually, this was resolved, but that's certainly not the type of service you would expect

We truly enjoyed our 5 night stay here. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay exceeded our expectations. The breakfast buffet was the best we've ever had with ample choices and variety. The grounds were beautiful and the views breathtaking. Literally steps from a beautiful, private beach. The rooms were cozy - we stayed in room 115 which is basement level. We were pleasantly surprised that even the basement rooms have a private terrace. The beds were very firm, but overall comfortable room. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax, this is the place. Very pleased with our stay. Thank you!!!

NEVER AGAIN IN THIS HOTEL

We booked the room and didn't notice that in the paragraph it said basement. Nowhere else was written this. The day we were flying there we noticed that it said basement and contacted the hotel for an upgrade and to pay the difference. The hotel said that they were fully booked and all the other hotels in the group had no available room. They refused to refund us and we checked in the UNDERGROUND room. It was like being in a HOLE, you COULD'NT RELAX OR SLEEP because all the hotel's engines and fans were at the room next to us. One day we informed the hotel that if they do not change us room or refund us we would call the police due to the TERRIBLE NOISE next to our room. Magically a room was available at another group hotel and we moved there. Very unfriendly staff, terrible staying. Only one man at the reception was very friendly. NEVER AGAIN IN THIS HOTEL. STAY AWAY.

Great hotel made by friendliest staff ever

Great location as a base for the whole area and really nice hotel with staff who couldn't be more friendly or helpful especislly the reception and breakfast crew. Hotel almost had a boutique feel about it as it felt that personal.
Great restaurants nearby the staff recommended and would definitely go there again.
Only minor things I would improve would be more fresh fruit at breakfast but that may be a Greek thing and a bed that could handle a passionate night!

We really enjoyed our stay. On arrival we were a bit disappointed with our sea view. We were on the ground floor and had to sit outside to see the sea and was not the view we expected from the photos. However the room itself and the hotel more than made up for this. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent with so much choice of food. I had an accident and dislocated my shoulder. The staff were fantastic at sorting out my trip to hospital and made the remainder of my stay as comfortable as it could be. It was my partners first stay in an adults only hotel and he found this side of the hotel very enjoyable. The hotels location so close to the beach was so good. We would certainly return to this hotel.

Relaxing second honeymoon

We had a wonderful experience in this nice hotel. The staff was friendly and spoke English. They gave recommendations along with a map on how to get to other areas outside of Chania. The breakfast was delicious and had so many choices! The view from our balcony was gorgeous. I loved being able to just walk a few steps on to the beach. There was plenty of choices in the evening including a romantic dinner on the beach or walking/close driving distance to many delicious restaurants. The only minuses was parking could be difficult, and the restaurant forgot our salad that was supposed to come with our lunch. But those minuses were minor and barely worth mentioning. I highl recommend this jewel, especially as an adult getaway for relaxation and romance.

GREAT LOCATION

This is a great hotel to use as a base for travelling around the west side of Crete. It is right on the beach and close to restaurants. We rented a car a few of the days that we were there to go to Elafonisa, and the Irini Gorge. The front desk staff were able to arrange anything we needed. We also took a bus and taxis from this hotel as well, so it is easy to get around. The breakfast is quite extensive, but the restaurant staff were not very friendly. The front desk staff on the other hand were extremely helpful and professional.

Check-in: Having a prepaid confirmed booking is no guarantee that you will get a room once you get there. This hotel routinely overbooks and sends you to another hotel. This can be highly inconvenient when you have to spend part of your vacation shuttling from one hotel to another, and packing and unpacking. There is no guarantee that the other hotel may have the type of rooms that you paid for.
Rooms: Rooms in this hotel are about the same standard as an average motel in the U.S. Furniture and fittings are old and look tired. This hotel has two types of rooms – sea-facing and sea-view. If you got the lower level sea-view room, only thing that you can see from your room is the swimming pool. You can spend your romantic evenings on the deck looking at the swimming pool and empty chairs.
Facilities: Facilities in this hotel needs upgrade. While we were there power will go on and off in the evening. This can damage your sensitive electronic equipment if it is plugged-in. Air conditioners, when they are working, make more noise that cold air.
Beach: This hotel has a narrow beachfront. They provide the usual beach chairs and umbrellas. The water quality is passable, if you don’t mind the occasional bits of plastic floating around. Unlike more classy hotels, this one doesn’t provide beach towels in the room. You have to go to the small beach restaurant to rent a towel against a cash deposit of 7 euros - highly inconvenient.
Breakfast: Moderate spread. Not much variation.

Great hotel for a week in the sun!

Santa Marina Plaza is a very well run and laid out hotel. The small amount of rooms plus adults only criteria made it perfect for a relaxing week in the sun, with a real mix of ages and nationalities.
The hotel does a great breakfast buffet, the poolside lunch menu is great and with the option of eating in the restaurant, on the beach, or at one of the many surrounding places then you are spoilt for choice for food.
The location of being beachside means you can choose between the private beach area or the pool to spend your days which is a real bonus.
The rooms are spacious with great air conditioning and the staff definitely go out of their way to make the stay as easy as possible.
Would definitely recommend to others looking for a relaxing break!

On arrival our room was not available until the next day, the receptionist told us the whole of the hotel group had experienced a 'computer glitch'. We half expected a problem as T A reports the hotel has a habit of over booking....We where escorted to a room in its sister hotel 100 mts away, when taken to the room it had not cleaned and made ready.Eventually we where given a room in the afternoon. We returned to the 'Plaza' the next day for breakfast. As compensation we where given a free safe a bottle of wine and fruit. We where given a room later that day and from then on the holiday went without fault and would not hesitate to stay at the hotel again.

Superior hotel - clean, modern, comfortable.

The holiday didn't get off to a good start because they were overbooked and I was shipped off to another hotel for the first night. However, after that, I couldn't fault it. Spacious rooms and en suites, extra large and very comfortable beds, good balcony with excellent view over pool and sea. Very good buffet breakfast; good lunch menu poolside; good dinner buffet.

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. The breakfast buffet has a great variety of food, hot and cold, and fresh orange juice and coffee daily. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a sea view room and it was spectacular. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet getaway. The pool area was never crowded and the beach is less than 100 meters from the building.

A nice getaway from it all

Lovely, clean hotel with pleasant staff. Only a 15 min bus journey to the main town, Chania or an 1 hour and a half walk just straight all the way. Only downside is we went from April 15th to April 22nd and there was not much to do around the hotel as many places only open up for high season. Useful supermarket right next door also.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday in a very comfortable hotel. The beach was close at hand but so was the pool and bar. We ate out at the many nearby restaurants, especially recommend Koupes. We did eat in the hotel, the food was of a good standard and value for money. All in all a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to return next year.

Room 114 looking over the beach - a must. The room was literally 10 seconds from the beach and pool. The beach was glorious and weather was very hot. Room itself was good but not spectacular. You are paying for the location really

Excellent time at Santa Marina Beach Hotel

We were moved to the Santa Marina Beach Hotel as we visited very early in the season and they only had sufficient guests to open one of the hotels as they were very close together and similar. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient and friendly. This is exactly as you would expect it to be from the details given on the website. It is on the beach and the terrace is a wonderful place to sit and have a drink over looking beach and sea. The food has reasonable variety with several options at every meal and the meals are different each day. The buffet food is excellent considering that it is mass produced. We also enjoyed swimming in the pool, which was suitably sectioned for children and adults so that the children couldn't move from one to the other without getting out of the pool.
The best bit about this visit was the exceptional staff, whose English was extremely fluent and suggestions were extremely useful.

A very good option!

Whatever they claim, it is not a 5 star hotel. In fact, it is probably not even a 4 star hotel. However, it is a 3 star hotel with superb service and with clean, convenient rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they serve a great breakfast. It is not a prime location but it is excellent if you rent a car. All in all, I strongly recommend it.

The bar tender need too be more human. The breakfast is not a 5 star breakfast.Room is ok at least in 114 beach front. Wifi dont work and sunbed is wet if it rains the day before( and the personel is too lacy too carry the madrases under the roof at night).4 star and that what it is, maximum... the only place thats five star is the restaurang Cosmos in Platanias. Regards the two swedish rooms 112 and 114 week 15.

Very nice hotel, clean rooms and all. Staff for the most part very friendly except the server at the buffet who told me my \"zaros\" water bottle was forbidden (even though we werent using it, just had it with us as we were taking it with us on our day trip).
Also the beach was surpringly nice in front of the hotel and the water was warm and clean.
Only real issue was that on our 2nd night the Air conditioning stopped working and it got pretty hot, so the lack of AC and the generally uncomfortable bed made it not a very restful sleep.

Flott opplevelse for voksne par. Adults only hotell med egen strandlinje. Fra basseng og poolbar er det kun 25 meter ned til egen strandlinje med solsenger og maks 10 meter til sjøen. Fantastisk hotell for voksne par

Er veldig godt fornøyd med dette lille voksenhotell i Agia Marina. Var nå andre gang vi var her og ble oppgradert til juniorsuite ved ankomst uten ekstra kostnad. Hotellet har egen liten strand eksklusivt for hotellets gjester og det er knapt 50 m å gå fra lunsjrestauranten ved poolen ned på stranden. Her ligger man definitivt ikke trangt som andre steder på stranden i Agia Marina. Frokost og lunsj er meget god og middag a la carte nede ved sjøen bør også prøves. Middagsbuffet prøvde vi bare en gang. Helt greit men det er så mange gode restauranter i byen som også bør prøves. Service er upåklagelig og de var ekstra oppmerksomme og fulgte opp da en av oss hadde fødselsdag under oppholdet.

Super Hotel direkt am Meer. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Essen war jeden Tag anders aber Buffet-Standard, aber für das sehr gut. Trinken muss man allerdings extra bezahlen, dass war nicht in der Halbpension die wir gebucht hatten inbegriffenen.
Das Hotel ist schon etwas älter, aber sehr sauber. Uns war es auch sehr wichtig, dass es Parkplätze am Hotel gab, da wir einen Mietwagen hatten. Parkplätze waren immer frei. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder dieses Hotel buchen. Um die Westseite der Insel zu erkunden ist dieses Hotel perfekt, auch um die Samaria Schlucht zu durchwandern.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Santa Marina Plaza sehr genossen. Die strandnahe Anlage ist sehr sauber und gepflegt und das Personal sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Auch das Essen war sehr gut und vielfälltig.

Agréable mais peu mieux faire

Nous avons séjourné pendant 9 jours à l hôtel
Réservé en front de mer nous avons été un peu déçu d avoir nôtre chambre au rez-de-chaussée et non en étage.
Cela était bruyant en raison du passage devant notre porte des autres vacanciers qui se rendaient au bar de la piscine ou à la piscine (le bar jouxtait le mur de la chambre).
Bien que j'ai fait une requête pour changer de chambre, durant tout le séjour il y a eu apparemment aucune possibilité.
Je ne remets pas en cause la chambre et la vue qui était très agréable, je remets en question le désagrément du passage.
Sinon la piscine est agréable. Il y a des transats autour de la piscine et en bordure de mer. Des serviettes sont à disposition moyennant une caution de 10 euros en début de séjour.
Nous n avons pas mangé le soir mais uniquement en petit déjeuner.
Je sais qu il y avait des thèmes organises le soir au buffet. Une affiche était disposée dans les chambres.
Sinon le petit déjeuner à du jus de orange frais cependant nous avons été déçu durant 9 jours de manger toujours la même chose à quelques exceptions près.
La viennoiserie est quasi inexistante ou surgelées alors que a côté de la hôtel le supermarché vendait de la viennoiserie fraîche et croustillante ! C'est franchement dommage.
Il y a aussi un petit point négatif concernant les matelas des plages qui mériteraient un brin de nettoyage quotidien ainsi que les murs de la piscine qui sont vert de gris.
Sinon le personnel est serviable et aimable.

Hôtel très accueillant et bien situé

Nous avons été très bien accueillis dans cet hôtel à taille humaine. L'hôtel est très bien situé pour visiter et profiter d'une belle plage. Les chambres sont spacieuses et fonctionnelles. Le personnel est très sympathique.
