Great hotel!

Amazing hotel with extremely friendly staff. My only criticism is the size of the sofa beds, I am 188cm tall and could not stretch out. Other than that, perfect.

Folia hotel apartments was very well kept, clean, newly renovated and everything was in good working order. They had a very nice breakfast buffet everyday for 10 euros. The pool area was clean and beautiful. We paid 3 euros/day to park our car. The driveway up was steep and the parking spot a bit tight, but everything worked out great. We even had a little patio area out back for eating and viewing the sea. The owners and staff were very nice and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel.

Nice family owned hotel. The two brothers working at the front desk were so kind and friendly. They helped us arrange our COVID-19 tests prior to our departure. The breakfast was excellent and the grounds were beautiful and well kept.

It's a somewhat older property, but very well maintained, and the management is helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast can be purchased at the hotel for 6 euro per person per day if taken for the whole of your stay, or 8 euro per person per day if used occasionally. The buffet is modest but reasonable for the cost. On-site parking must be reserved by contacting the Folia management directly after you make your booking on Expedia. The pathway to the parking spaces is quite tight, and requires expertise in maneuvering. About four additional spaces (usually occupied) are available on the small street directly outside the hotel. Parking is easy and abundant on the cross street 50 meters below the hotel (Ioannis Kapodistrias). It's a 200m walk to the main street of Agia Marina where frequent buses run to central Chania, and also to the Alexandra supermarket. The beach is another 150m beyond that. Overall, it's a great value and we had an excellent stay -- buffet breakfast, quick swim at the hotel, drive all over western Crete in a rented car, with seafood dinner in some small town, and back for a quick swim in the evening.

The stay with folia apartments was superb ,cleaned everyday , lots of space, bed very comfortable and bathroom came with an excellent shower. The whole hotel was surrounded by a well cared for garden and the staff and managent made you feel at home they was so friendly and made sure you had a wonderful time. Food also delicious .Thanks for everything .

I liked the breakfast that was available, very varied choice and selection. Also the staff and management greeted the guests throughout the day. The overall decor and the picturesque apperance. Very well maintained, with beautifull plants and trees. A very well architected building.

Our family stayed in Folia for a week, and enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was spotless clean, the stuff was helpful ( the a/c unit that wasn't working was replaced within hours), and the food in the restaurant was great. The hotel is situated close enough to the beach, but uphill, and it took us a couple of days to get used to it. Overall, our stay was very pleasant.

The hotel was amazing. Extremely comfortable beds, very clean (sheets and towels changed at least every 2 days). Modern bathroom, constant supply of hot water and the free air conditioning was effective and quiet. Fantastic pool and sun-bed area, good food and a Bar that serves the best cocktails! Most of all the people who run it are lovely and do everything they can to make your holiday the best. Can’t fault it. Highly recommended!! We will definitely go back.

Fantastic accommodation with wonderful hosts. The family run apartments had everything you needed and the family were always on hand to help you with anything you required. I asked for a twin room for my father and I and was given a very large room with a king size bed and a single bed in different sides of the room. Just perfect!

Nice hotel with friendly staff, near to the beach h although it's quite a steep hill, lots of restaurants nearby but not many bars or clubs as such, a few little shops near by aswell. Room was kept very nice and clean and was decorated nicely, plenty of space and nice bathroom only issue really was the cooking facilities aren't great for self catering the hob takes a very long time to heat up and that all you have to cook with and the utensils and pots are very limited but it is typical of accommodation in Greece. The pool is well kept and clean with nice views and next to the bar and restaurant so access to food and drinks while down there as you may not consume your own by the pool except water. Always helpful staff we were able to park there free of charge and there is free WiFi and air conditioning.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, very good food.

We stayed for a week for our summer holiday and it has been amazing, the hotel is only a short walk from the beach, but far enough away to not be at a main road. Its only a max 15min drive to Chania, which is great for sight seeing shopping etc. The people were super nice an helpful booking excursions for us like visiting Samarian Gorge. Oveall an amazing holiday!

Excellent family-run hotel.
All of the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to welcome us and make our stay enjoyable.
Good restaurant on site, with helpful waiters giving advice. Several others within a few minutes walk (but beware that there are some steep, albeit short, hills if mobility is an issue).
TV had only a couple of English stations (surprisingly from Russia and France), but who cares on holiday when there is good internet as an alternative?
Kitchen area has fridge, two-burner stove, kettle and coffee maker. Microwave would have been nice, plus a tea towel and some washing-up kit too!
Would gladly visit gain for longer.

Brilliant stay- would recommend highly!

This is a brilliant place to stay! Rooms all lovely, spacious enough with fridges and hair dryers and anything else you could need for your stay. The rooms were cleaned daily, close to the beach, local restaurants of which there are many and most importantly, very friendly owners and staff. Always greeting you and waving you goodbye as you left for the day. Nothing was too much trouble- even on the last day when we had checked out and I became ill, they kindly gave me a room to lie down in until I felt better enough to leave for the airport. This was a god send! Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Overalk nice, but not what we expected

Overall nice hotel, but pictures of the building and pool did tho represent the reality. It was much smaller then it looked like and no toilet next to the pool. With kids made it difficult as we had to keep going back to the room.

The balcony only fits 2 people, with family you cannot enjoy a meal in the room. Also it was in 2 levels, which makes it again difficult with kids, as they won't sleep as far from the parents in a strange place and during the night it's hard to get them down the stairs to toilet.

It's a nice place for adults, as pool bar service is good, and staff is nice, but we were disappointed in the facilities and we won't go back with kids.

Fab hotel with great views and superb facilities.

We had Room 28 which had a balcony with great views. The hotel noted our request for 3 rooms next to each other so as a family (gran, couple with child and Aunty) we could breakfast together on the balconies! The rooms were large and clean with kitchen facilities which suited us as a family.Lovely blue pool was a good size and plenty of sun beds with the outside bar made it very accessible. The staff could not do enough for us and were also charming and friendly. We ate in the hotel a few times and all food was freshly made and wholesome and delicious. On check out we were given the facility to store bags and use showers before departure in the evening. We would certainly recommend this lovely hotel.

5-Minute Walk to Beach

In some reviews, people complain about walking up hill from the beach. Yes, there is a hill, but it is NOT bad. There a beautiful views from the hotel, the staff is incredible and price is great. I would highly recommend this place if you are the the type of person to explore on vacation. If you are the type who wants to hangout by the pool or beach and do nothing, Folia could get a little boring, since it is 5 minutes from town. Since I am in the former group, I would 100% stay at Folia again.

We had a wonderful holiday at Folia apartments, the owners were brilliant, the food was delicious, the apartments were clean, the view from our balcony was beautiful, the pool was lovely and the apartments were in a quiet area, but still just 5 minutes from the beach and the main street with loads of shops including a large supermarket.
My only 'even better if', would be for the kitchenette to be a bit better equipped, as there was only 1 saucepan and 1 frying pan, no colander, and no toaster. Small things, but if you like toast for breakfast, quite important!

Perfect Hotel to discover Crete

We thoroughly enjoyed our 14 night stay at the Folia Hotel. We were welcomed on our arrival by the owners and assisted with our luggage to our room.
First impressions were of how clean and well maintained the hotel was, our room a Studio sea view was spacious and all the appliances were new and worked.
The bed was comfortable and large and from our balcony we saw olive trees , mountains and the sea.
The hotel is up a slight hill , but this allows it to be just off the main stream of traffic ,which then makes it so peaceful and relaxing.
All staff were friendly and helpful, and it was no trouble to them organising a trip to Samaria Gorge.
We ate 4 times in the restaurant and every time the food was excellent, this would have been more ,but for the fact of many excellent restaurants near by.
I cannot fault this hotel or Agia Marina which had everything for a perfect holiday.
We will definitely be back.

Quietly located on the edge of most restaurants and bars etc so a little walk to reach them - however there are a couple within easy reach. Of course the hotel has its own excellent restaurant & bar as well. Could not fault our room except for us the bed mattresses were a bit too hard. Also the pillows. The furnishings in the kitchenette are a bit dated but perfectly serviceable. No toaster so you have to go down to breakfast at the hotel for that. The maid was so discreet we never saw her but she kept our room immaculate.
Altogether a great holiday as Folia is near the beach & you can walk right along it forever.

Overall this is was an excellent stay with customer service really key to the charm of Folia Apartment with the family run ethos really showing. I would recommend this hotel again and would be happy to stay there in the future. Only gripe was the room had a shower with a shower curtain which was not ideal.

No attention to detail

The stay at this hotel was less than satisfactory. I booked and paid more for a sea view room. I was not given a sea view room. When I alerted the staff, he was friendly and gave me a free drink. There was no mention of a refund of the difference. On the day of checkout, I had an early flight and needed to check out at 7. There was no one around to help! The one staff member looked at me like I was crazy and very rudely said the front desk opens at 8. Most of the staff was very friendly and the property is in a wonderful location, but it is run down.

Fab, friendly hotel

About a 5/10 min walk downhill to the main strip and beach. Lots of lovely restaurants nearby.

From the moment we arrived at this friendly, family run hotel we felt welcome. The rooms aren't massive but were very clean, well kept and had all the facilities we needed for the stay. The hotel is located up the hill from the main resort area and beach which means it's a quieter location and the views from the room were great. For the price we paid, I could not fault our stay!

Perfect from start to finish!

The staff are a credit to this hotel. Brothers Giannis and Nikos who run the hote Were brilliant. Extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Their hospitality and humour was much appreciated! They even booked us 2 excursions which were great (and reasonably priced) as well as assisting with transfers. The cleaning staff through to the bar/resuturant staff were also amazing, especially Akis the barman who made great cocktails and made all of the guests feel very welcome with his hilarious jokes. We had a Seaview studio which was spotlessly clean and well equipped...the view from the balcony topped it off though...spectacular sunset and sunrises! The food in the resturant was great and amazingly priced, we also had a continental breakfast included in the price of our room which had a good variety of food and was good value for money. All in all Folia is a brilliant family run hotel with a true essence of Cretan culture radiating through their hospitality...we will definately be returning and recommending to our friends!

the place to stay for a real Cretan atmosphere

enjoyed our stay with this lovely family run business, the two brothers are very friendly and make sure every guest has a great holiday. They are very helpful and they mingle with the guests, making it easy for residents to get to know each other, the pool and bar areas are small, therefore, you get a very friendly atmosphere that you wouldn't get in a large hotel.

Good value for quiet clean hotel

Staff friendly and welcoming. Room clean with nice balcony view of sea and some olive trees below. Higher up on hill away from main road, so quiet. Could hear roosters crowing at sunrise. Bathtub and shower. TV very small and only Greek stations. Breakfast buffet plentiful and pleasant eat poolside. Only complaint is that our backs were not used to the rock hard Greek beds. We wound up buying a couple of air mattresses (8€ each) at the market nearby to sleep on. Also housekeeping staff were loud in the hallways each day, loudly talking and laughing. Beautiful landscape on the grounds.

A great place for a relaxing holiday

The apartments are located within easy walking distance of the bus stop and close to shops and restaurants. The hotel also has a restaurant but I did not eat there so can't comment on it. The hotel is well run and has a great swimming pool. The rooms have balconies and have nice views. The rooms are quiet at night. You can hear the music from the resort hotels in the distance. Makes one very happy not to be staying there and rather be staying at a great apartment hotel.

Friendly resort, superbly run.

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Folia apartments and I can only say what a pleasant experience it was. The staff are very professional and caring. The apartment was spotless and was cleaned regularly: they even did the washing up for us when we forgot to do it. It is your choice whether to eat in or out but the view from the balcony of the seaview rooms is spectacular and well worth enjoying in the morning for a leisurely breakfast.
The two brothers that run the establishment are very helpful and allowed us to store our baggage and have a shower before we left for our evening flight. Altogether a great experience. I would recommend you visit.

Stayed here for 5 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. Hotel staff were very polite and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, I was surprised at the amazingly high quality of the room for such low prices. Some of the most amazing hospitality I've experienced. We ate in the hotel restaurant twice, very good prices and excellent food. We were made to feel like royalty. And it's only a 3 minute walk to the shops. Would recommend this place to anyone.

\"Folia Apartments\" is pleasant hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are spotless, excellent Wi-Fi everywhere. Restaurant has good choice of local meals, well prepared. It sits few hundred meters uphill above the main street, which makes a walking to it in the noon heat little \"sweaty\", but you get, for the same reason, much better ocean view and quiet.

Recently stayed here on business and had a greta stay. The owners deliver a great family welcome and Adriana at the bar is a great hostess. Good food made it easy for business stay as I did not have to venture out to find quality food. I would recommend this venue especially as very low budget but delivers hospitality and local feel in abundanceoften lost in more expensive bigger hotels. Try it an enjoy yourself :-)

Good position and not far from the sea (5 minutes by foot) over a street, very friendly hotel, and nice for relaxing.

The hotel with apartments is calm and is close to the town. We got a nice apartment with mountain view and from our balcony we can see also the sea and Chania harbor. Rooms are nice, very clan, not big but enough for a couple (also possible for three) with a nice bathroom. The staff Giannis and Nikos are really very helpful and considered all our wishes . They recomended us nice trips by car to the west and south part of Creta – for us it is the best part of the island although we saw in several times the whole island. The position of this hotel is good location for exploring the west part of the island.

The food in the hotel's restaurant was great and staff in restaurant is very kind.

We would definitely come back to this hotel, it's really good value for money.

The owners gave a warm welcome on arrival and could not do enough for us. The hotel restaurant provides good quality Cretan cuisine and the local Charmer beer which was very moorish! The location was a good base to explore western Crete with a reliable bus service to Chania. There is plenty to see and do from this location especially if you hire a car, or alternatively local beaches and the lovely hotel pool if you want to sit back and relax.

Close to the beach

Very poor equipment in the room. Room does not have even a shampoo /conditioner. Not enough space in the parking garage, we have a problem with parking every day. Friendly staff, very good pool area. Good hotel for people with low budget.

Wonderful stay!

Great service, with helpful and extremely friendly (and funny) staff! The room was cleaned everyday, there was ample parking, and main bus stop/ strip just minutes away. The rest of the accommodation was well kept, with a cosy pool area and great traditional food at very reasonable rates in the restaurant. Would reccommend for anyone wishing to stay in this part of Crete. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect holiday apartments!

The hotel is super cute! The staff are really nice, the food in the restaurant is so so good! It is a five minute walk to the beach (not the most scenic walk in the world, but its very quick!) there are shops right beside it! We shared a studio between three of us, which was plenty and spent lots of time sitting on the balcony. My only complaint would be that the pool is smaller than it looks in the pictures, BUT totally big enough for pool fun!

It is definitely the nicest of any of the apartments that we saw while I was there, and for the price its incredible!!! I had such a great time on this holiday, the staff made it so easy and enjoyable, very relaxing!!!

If i was going to go back to Chania (which i would love to) I would definitely stay at Folia again!!!! The best apartments in Agia Marina!!!!

Fantastic Service - I recommend!!

This is a fantastic hotel for the money. It's placed in nice quiet sorroundings with a great view over the bay of Chania. 5 minutes to the beach, which is very long and a lot of beach bars. Nice clean water. The hotel staff are very kind people, and the service is tip top. Cleaning is good, and there are possibilities for breakfast and dinner to preorder. Good plane food at small money. This is not a hotel for \"the party people\", but families with children and people who wants a relaxed holliday. I clearly recommend this holtel.

Hotelli oli siisti ja mukava kaikin puolin. Aamupala oli hyvä ja riittävä. Hotellin henkilökunta oli erittäin palvelualtista ja auttoivat esimerkiksi suunnittelemaan päiväretkiä eri nähtävyyksille. Palvelusta antaisin enemmän kuin 5 tähteä jos olisi mahdollista.

Suosittelen hotellia lämmöllä ja palaan varmasti itsekin uudelleen. :)

Fantastisk familievenligt hotel i rolige omgivelse

Hotellet ligger tilbagetrukket i smukke omgivelser med udsigt til bjergene og vandet/bugtene, og olivenlund.
Vi havde en dejlig balkon med udsigt til bjergene og vandet.
Hotellet har en hyggelig og familiær atmosfære og der er stor hjælpsomhed af brødrene der driver hotellet.
Personalets venlighed er også i top og rengøringen ligeså.
Morgenmaden er glimrende og alsidig.

Idéal en famille avec ados

Ravis de ce séjour (10j) ds cet appart'hôtel. Chaleureusement reçu par les propriétaires, ns avions une chambre spacieuse pr 4 (balcon vue mer). Climatisation et kitchenette avec frigo. Ménage ts les jours.
Situé à 10 min à pied du petit centre ville animé et des plages, l'hôtel en haut d'une est ptite côte très calme. Pleins de restaurants accessibles à pied le soir. Ne pas hésitez à diner au restaurant de l'hôtel qui est délicieux!
Localisation à 2h de voiture d'Heraklion, 1h de Réthymnon.
Pleins d'activités nautiques en bord de mer.
Mention spéciale à tout le personnel de l'hôtel : souriant, présent et attentionné.
Une vraie bonne expérience dans un hôtel à taille humaine.

The rooms are very clean and tidy with modern bathrooms and double beds are 'real' queen size and not two singles pushed together like so many other resorts in Crete. Generally the hotel too was lovely with beautiful gardens and pool area. Owners and staff were always there to help and greeting with a smile! We loved the place!

Et flott hotell med vennlig stemning. Man føler seg velkommen. Rent og pent i 2 romsleiligheten, og strøkent på alle uteområder på hotellet. Skikkelige dyner og myke senger var deilig!! Fint, rent, lite basseng, men ikke et basseng man kan leke med ballkasting/hoppe fra kanten fra. Mulighet for dusj (etter utsjekk) i fin liten dusj-garderobe. Flott balkong under tak til frokost/middag. Flott utsikt ned mot sjøen og nærområdet. Bra frokost, utvalg i brød og rundstykker, men ønskelig med mulighet for å få bacon hver dag. Litt bratt, men kun 5 minutter fra hovedveien når vi gikk raskeste vei opp fra stranden. Anbefales.

Folia - en flott hotellopplevelse

Hotellet er et fredelig og rolig sted, beliggende litt vekk fra hovedgatens travelhet, men allikevel nært nok til at du kun er noen få minutters gange unna alt du trenger av butikker, tavernaer og ikke minst en flott strand. Flott service fra hyggelige eiere og ansatte! Utmerket daglig renhold av rommene. Rommene utmerker seg med fantastisk gode senger, uten tvil de beste vi har opplevd på våre utallige reiser til Kreta. Det samme gjelder badet, med en dusj som fungerer flott (noe som ikke er dagligdags på greske hotell). Vi hadde i det hele tatt en meget fin hotellopplevelse, og nøler ikke med å reise tilbake!! Om noe negativt skal sies, så er basseng/bassengområde ikke av de største, og egner seg derfor ikke til aktive badeleker for de yngre.

Je suis venu au mois de mai avec mon conjoint j'ai payer dans les 30€ la nuit, la chambre est basic mais grande avec une baignoire, balcon, coiffeuse pour se maquiller.
Le seul point négatif c'était l'odeur dans la chambre qui était permanente comme une odeur d'urine c'était vraiment gênant. Je pense que c'est a cause du sol en pierre les femmes de ménage ne doivent pas passer la serpillère car on avait les pieds sales dès l'arrivée. A par cela je recommande cet hôtel pour le rapport qualité-prix. Attention il y a une monté pour arriver a l'hôtel rien de dur mais pour les personnes âgées c'est compliqué. La plage est a 10 min à pieds, jolie plage mais le mieux est de louer une voiture est de visiter les environs ce que nous avons fait, en quatre jours je recommande d'aller au centre ville de Chania(20min en voiture),la plage de Balos(1h en voiture),la plage de Stalos(5 min en voiture). Cela suffit puis d'aller après du côté d'Elafonisi et prendre un autre hôtels pour visiter cette partie de l'île.

I came in May with my spouse I paid in the 30€ per night, the room is basic but large with a bathtub, balcony, hairdresser to make up. The only negative point was the smell in the room that was permanent like a urine smell it was really embarrassing. I think it’s because of the stone floor that housekeepers don’t have to mop 'cause we had dirty feet the minute we got there. By this I recommend this hotel for value for money. Careful there is a climb to get to the hotel n

Tout est parfait. L'accueil, la convivialité, la disponibilité, la chambre avec vue sur la mer, la localisation qui permet de retrouver du calme en fin de journée tout en étant proche du monde et des plages.
