I’ll start with the positives. The hotel is very centrally located in Engelberg and offers a direct bus shuttle to the cable car station, which is convenient for skiers and snowboarders. The view from my room, facing the mountains, was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was also good, with a wide range of options. The spa staff were consistently kind, friendly, and eager to help.

That said, the overall experience was disappointing. The rooms were far too hot with no way to adjust the temperature. The bathroom did not meet four-star standards, and the pool was smaller than expected. The spa itself is tiny, with two saunas labeled 60°C and 90°C, but neither felt properly heated.

The room size was acceptable and included a balcony, but many basic amenities were missing: no iron, ironing board, kettle, or complimentary tea and coffee. The hotel markets itself as four-star due to the pool and spa, yet the room felt closer to a two-star property. Ours was extremely worn, with deteriorating finishes on the wardrobe and bathroom doors. Be cautious if you are not booking a renovated room.

The dinner restaurant was fully booked three days in advance, so we were unable to dine there at all. There were also unsupervised children running and screaming throughout the hotel, including in the spa, which made it difficult to relax.

Overall, not worth the price. You can find better value elsewhere.

Second time in Engelberg, and a flying visit as wanted to go up the mountain, unfortunately the Titlis was a disgusting unsafe building site and we were there not even 5 mins, bad timing! The holiday safe bar two that were excellent were very poor … won’t safe here again

If all you care about is having a clean place to stay, this is fine. However, if you want the restaurant and bar to be open when it’s supposed to be open, have your room cleaned and not have hotel staff force their way into your room yelling while you are naked do NOT stay here. To add more color, I was using the shower, the steam from the shower set off the fire alarm, we opened doors and windows it stopped within a minute. A few minutes later there was loud banging at the door, my partner opened it as I was naked. A member of the hotel staff was there yelling “What are you burning in the room?” My partner said it was steam from the shower, the staff yelled let me in and my partner said it’s the shower, she is naked. Ignoring this, the staff member forced his way in and I yelled “it was the shower” holding a hand towel in front of my naked body. He then abruptly left, said nothing, no apology. Then, within a minute another person started banging on our door (recall the alarm is no longer going off and had not been for several minutes). This person tried to force their way into our room as well but when told it was shower steam just yelled “you cannot shower with the door open” at us and left. I have never experienced such terrible treatment from hotel staff in my life, I will never return. The lack of an apology is unacceptable and if fire detectors are that sensitive a warning needs to be given. A stranger forcing their way into my room while I’m naked is what I’ll remember

We stayed here 3 nights in december for a ski trip with the family. The room was very clean and spacious, we had the family room. The amenities we also nice with a pool and sauna, as well as a ski room for the gear. There is a bus stop right across the hotel which was very convenient to get to the slopes.

We have stayed at the H Hotel several times over the past few years.
The standard of service and offerings seems to have cheapened whilst prices have increased.
Apparently, only in-room tea & coffee is only available on the 8th floor. Not standard as in most other hotels.
Do not expect anything else in the room apart from the most basic of things. No bottle openers, no wine glases, no cutlery.
In the bathroom, just soap (attached to the wall)

Breakfast - again is just basic.
Staff should consider a daily shower if being around customers and the breakfast area.

Amazing location! Only couple of minutes walk from Engelberg station. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel that will take you to Furenalp, Bruni and Mount Titlis cable car station. Sein childrens park and wasserfall. So one location and so many places to visit just within few minutes bus ride. I would strongly recommend Hotel H which have restaurants downstairs and many more within couple of minutes walk. Also big supermarket right next door. Had amazing experience ! Thank you Expedia

The hotel is right in front of the free bus stop to the ski gondola. Although a bit dated the room was nice and warm. A balcony was a great touch. Noise from the corridor came in easily so a door replacement will make it great. Wellness I think sauna was renovated to be great. Half board Friday dinner was awesome but Saturday dinner burger was not satisfactory.

Great location, very central to everything. Nice rooms, we also had a balcony which got the lovely afternoon sun. Bathroom was nice, although the main problem is the shower where the taps are on the side of the wall rather than at the end under the shower head, so you end up continuously knocking your elbows when trying to wash your body or hair. The spa area is nice, although its not sound proof or sound protected at all so while youre trying to relax all you can hear is the kids yelling in the pool. Same with the hallways, when you're in your room, you can hear when people are talking or walking around in the hallways. The restaurant for dinner is outstanding, and the breakfast is great, too.

Failed me in every possible way

I stayed for a long weekend and I will never go back. My room was hot like a sauna and the staff told me to sleep with the balcony door open. The pillows were uncomfortable and the room felt like it had been renovated in the 90s. The SPA was unisex, used band aids floated around in the pool, and swimwear was not allowed. The hotel restaurant also said they don’t have any space for people staying at the hotel and recommended that I go to the train station for Indian food, because apparently everything else is fully booked during a weekend. No room service and no food at the bar. An absolute nightmare in every way. Never visit this hotel.

Hotel is conveniently located in the center of town and has access to two great restaurants connected to the hotel.

Hotel staff were amazing! Very helpful and polite. Delphine was the young woman who checked us into the room and checked us out, and she was very polite and courteous.

The bartender was very funny and energetic.

The breakfast buffet was amazing and had a wide variety of “American” and European style variety.

Urchig restaurant connected to the hotel also had very presentable and tasty dishes worth ordering.

Location is the best! There is a bus stop opposite to the hotel and a ski equipment rental shop is a side, also round the corner you can find a supermarket!
I’ve ordered a half board service, breakfast was amazing with various food choice. However the set dinner was a little disappointed.
The view from rooms was amazing too, spacious room more than enough for me with family. But the amenities in room were just fair, and a bit depreciated.

Time for a refurb!

Rooms are very outdated and central heating turned our room into a sauna - had to sleep with the balcony door open (in January!). Ski room is horrendous for a Swiss ski resort hotel, basically a repurposed bunker/deposit with basic racking. Breakfast was the biggest positive of the stay - lots of savoury and sweet options, and very good quality. Didn't use the SPA. Location is good - bus to ski lift stops in front of the hotel. Overall, well below expectations given the 8.8 hotels.com rating (which is far too generous).

It is a nice overall hotel with good breakfast, centrally located, big balconies with nice view.
But I would mention 2 minor things which ruined our long weekend there:
1. Before arrival I've received an email with opportunity to pre-book everything (dinners, early checkin and late check out, parking spot, lunch to go etc). Which was nice, I spent my time and pre-booked everything.
But when we arrived - nothing was taken into consideration! Each evening we ate at different place - once we had dinner at buffet (which we didn't want! But the waiter insisted that pre-booked dinners are there only), next time we were in the restaurant where the waiters didn't know if we pre-booked anything and we had to wait a while before we could order and eat anything.
By the end we received a double bill for dinners (for both buffet and restaurant for each night) which the receptionist adjusted after the discussion but the mood was already ruined.
Also late checkout (with extra payment) was not considered - cleaning lady came at 7:30am, 10am, 12pm and 12:35pm...

2) I had to spend a lot of time to negotiate at which hour we can visit spa (they allow only 1h per spa and per pool per day per person). When we arrived - both pool and spa were packed at our time because no once controlled it! People were coming when it was comfortable for them, stayed half a day, gathered in sauna (of course everyone without masks). So the good idea with Corona-protection but very bad execution!

Everything about the hotel is great for a summer trip; room and bathroom were both good size and fresh . Close to transport and cable cars; staff are friendly and helpful. The spa is surprisingly pleasant - lovely pool, with sauna and steam room. Breakfast is basic with small but good selection of cereals and fresh food. Would recommend.

We would have rated this hotel as excellent if we did not have an issue with disrespecting our privacy and property. Check in went smooth, I asked to reconfirm the check out time the next day. It was 12 noon. There was enough time to go to Brunni and come back to change our hiking clothes, use the bathroom and check out. What a surprise was to not find our private property in the room! It was BEFORE the check out time, I have not checked out at the reception with returning the keys and saying Thank you, the way an etiquette and good manners require. It took a long time someone to bring back our property. We can understand mistakes happen, and apologies are due, but what offended us the most was the attitude of the person bringing our property back. She was not apologetic, she was rude and even sarcastically imitated the way my daughter spoke about her missing clothes. This is disappointing and unacceptable!
The explanation to remove our property BEFORE the check out time was not clearly stated, but generally it was put as 2 reasons: 1.Cleaning lady assumed we forgot things. 2.Whatever we left is garbage because it was in plastic bags. My answer: 1.How can anyone forget 80% of their luggage? I was never contacted (email or phone call) that I forgot things! 2.How a hiker should sort their used clothes to put in a backpack if not in plastic bags?! How do you dare to touch the personal possessions of your guests and go into their rooms without permission BEFORE checkout time?!?!

There is on site parking but the parking down the road is cheaper and the front desk staff let us know which was awesome. I ordered a bottle of Prosecco to be in our room when we checked in, it was a nice way to end our day of travels but it would have been nice had they waited till our arrival to put it in there. The property was packed due to New Year’s Eve but breakfast was still well staffed. It was a shame that room service wasn’t available on New Years Eve day either but overall the property was comfortable, has the spa on site, recommend the VenusBath experience if you’re on a romantic getaway! And a restaurant and bar are on site as well in case you don’t want to endure the cold of Switzerland.

Great hotel in a beautiful area. The hotel was rather full and there was quite some construction work around but even with the windows open there was no problem at all with noise. The pool and spa area was also very nice and well-equipped. Breakfast was very nice. Furthermore a lot of compliments to the staff which literally came running to assist us with whatever we needed. All-in-all it made for a very comfortable and relaxing weekend.

We stayed for a short family summer break and got two rooms side by side, as they don't have interconnecting rooms. Friendly staff, clean and comfy rooms, great choice for breakfast (cold and hot food). We had the pool to ourselves on both days, which was nice.

A lot of construction ongoing in the town at the moment, with cranes spoiling the beautiful view somewhat and building work start early in the morning. It will all benefit the town in the long term

nice comfortable room, good food, relaxing spa

I booked this hotel after a day of skiing and read good reviews. Overall it was a nice stay. Dinner in the adjoining restaurant was good, but expensive as all Switzerland is. I was told I had a free upgrade which was welcoming news, but when I got to the room, the key card didn’t work. They said there was something wrong with the system, so I didn’t get that upgrade after all. Oh well.
The room is nothing over the top. It’s a nice, clean, simple Alpine-type hotel. The view was nice when the clouds moved out for a minute. Breakfast was free and quite good, so that’s always a plus! €15 for parking under the hotel is not the worst price I saw. Overall, I enjoyed my stay with a decent bed, good food, friendly staff, a nice spa and a view. The only real negative I had was that the hot tub in the spa had no water. I don’t now know if it was broken or not, but that was a big reason I booked this hotel...to sit and relax my legs after a long day of skiing. The sauna, steam room were favorites and the pool was ok too, though I could see hairs in the bright spotlights in the pool.

Absolutely fantastic hotel in an excellent locatio

We stayed for three nights at this hotel which was a great experience. The rooms are large and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. The pool
Area is a great place to relax after a day of skiing. The hotel is in a central location to all the slopes in Engelberg. Great place for skiing, especially for families and beginners. Thank you, we will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely hotel right in the middle of Engelberg

Enjoyed the hotel and its central location in a beautiful clean small town surrounded by mountain views, did lots of walking and love the cable cars. Had a Swiss rail card so trains, most cable cars and even boats are half price. Buying gifts expensive in Switzerland but some shops do have good sale items and do wrap for free!

Nice Hotel Close to Mount Titlis

In general good experience - nice facilities, good breakfast included, WIFI strong, staff in general were attentive and friendly, nice view of mountain from balcony, close to everything ...... One negative - advertised on Expedia as having air conditioning - it doesn't. It would be fine to leave the windows open and get fresh air - except Church Bells start ringing at 5am and were ringing every 15 minutes or so..... raised the issue with front desk staff and they had no answer except to say we dont have AC. AC or fans in room would be an improvement.
