Not as advertised.

Comfort was NO AC as advertised and bed comforter was wrong size for bed.Asked to have AC turned on or a portable fan and owner said NO to both .We even offered to pay for a portable fan if they got one .Still NO .Dirty under furniture and lots of fluff under big dresser. Good news the desk staff was wonderful.Room large and well furnished.Bathroom had tub mat anti slip.Restaurant next door,owned by same person, was excellent.Breakfast was simple.Had they been willing to work with us, on AC being broken, and had got us a fan, even at our expense, our rating would have been a 4.BUT the unhelpful attitude forces a 3.

The staff were very welcoming, the restaurant on the same property has a great and unique selection of foods that honor the Habsburg tradition and the owner's family, which has had this restaurant for 5 generations.

Beautiful hotel with lots of history. Enjoyed the stay and the room. Service was excellent and the only thing I would recommend is to update the bathrooms. Other than that it was a perfect location out of the busy city.

Great stay in Zagreb

This is a well run pleasant hotel. If you are game it’s an easy 3 km walk downhill into town, and as it’s a bit uphill back there is a tram right behind. Nice rooms. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

This was such a pleasant experience. What a wonderful charming slice of Croatia. The staff was very friendly. The hotel was beautifully decorated. We felt this was our most authentic Croatian stay of our 2.5 week trip.
We ate dinner at the hotels restaurant across the street. It was also very Croatian and decorated beautifully. The food was authentic and the prices were less than we paid at all the other Croatian restaurants along the coast. The food was delicious.
The free breakfast was also very good.
If you want a Croatian experience in Zagreb, stay here.

Amazing place, not only beautiful but full of history, tradition and Croatian hospitality. The room was so beautiful and the entire hotel is like a gallery of Croatian history. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is one of the best in the whole of Europe. I can't recommend this place enough to have a true Croatian experience.

This is probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at. The rooms are nice, the bed is comfortable, the shower is excellent, and the price is fair. I’ve never met a more genuinely friendly staff, which is the true selling point for the hotel. The WiFi works well and the complementary breakfast even included vegetarian options for us (vegans have a few options as well). There is a restaurant next door as well but the vegetarian options were limited so I didn’t try it.

Beautiful and with perfect service.

The service set the hotel apart. The furnishings were as beautiful as we'd hoped (which was why we selected this hotel). The location was far more convenient than I expected from looking at the map, 15 minutes to downtown was about half what I'd planned - very convenient.

The hotel is old and has some antique or near antique furniture. The air conditioner would
not get the room any lower then 75 degrees which is to hot to sleep for me. The breakfast was very good. Fresh scrambled eggs and all the European breakfast offerings. This was not as close to train station as I thought. If you have a car this would be better than a city hotel. Not much within walking distance. I wound not stay again because of the air conditioning. Check out was extremely slow, it over 15 minutes, 2 other people were ahead of me. She finished my check out just as my cab arrived. The restaurant next door was good and gave extremely large portions. Hotel guests get a discount.

Loved the old Croatian style mixed in with modern features. The dinner in the restaurant was amazing. Dishes from 18th century Croatian cookbook. The breakfast was great. Loved the charcuterie and the salad, very nutritional. The staff was smiling and very polite. Would stay again!

large and comfortable room. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good parking in quiet neighborhood. Tram or bus transportation to center city close to hotel.
Safe wasn't fastened to anything-so didn't use. Bathtub with shower didn't have a shower curtain or enclosure.

Excellent stay in a quiet neighborhood!

We stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Puntijar in first week of April. The hotel belongs to the Puntijar restaurant owners, which has been in existence for over 175 years. The opulence shows in the grand decor of the lobby area, the windings stairs, the paintings on the walls and the tasteful antique furniture inside the rooms and the restaurant area. You feel as if you are staying inside a small villa house with focus on tradition. The rooms also have Croatian language books to add to the feel (which, unfortunately, we could not read :).

Overall, the stay was enjoyable and top class. The location is a bit away from the buzzing crowds and the Zagreb city center, in the middle of a pleasant and quiet neighbourhood. The city center is easily reachable through public transport in less than 30 minutes.

There are a few negatives, such as the size of the room that we got was a bit small with lesser walking space in between the 3 beds for our family. Also the storage space inside the room could be a bit bigger. But the antique furnishings and decor makes up for such small inconveniences.

And, last but not least, the customer service was excellent & we were very well taken care of during our stay. The hotel staff even arranged for an early breakfast at 6 am on the day of our checking out since we had an early flight to catch.

Highly recommended for families to stay.

Wonderful service and lovely antique filled hotel. Super comfortable beds and large rooms and bathrooms. They ordered our taxi to arrive at 5:30 am and even packed a breakfast for us as we would miss the one included in the room. Outside city center but easy and cheap team connections. We would love to stay here again. There is a very good restaurant owned by the hotel open for dinner.

Sweetest Most Accomodating Staff-GREAT!

What a wonderful hotel--it's a bit \"quirky\" with all the art throughout-which we loved, and it would not be possible to find more friendly, sweet, accommodating staff that were so welcoming and striving to meet any need. We only stayed one night, but would welcome the opportunity to stay with them again. We got fully packed and ready to leave before heading down to the desk for check-out and found they had left the full breakfast buffet up for us even though it was past the end. We didn't realize our room included the breakfast, so that was a nice surprise and it was so sweet they had held it for us. They also held our bags while we explored Zagreb before heading to the airport. The room was quite, comfortable, very interesting with all the art, and just a joy to stay in. Hope we can visit again!

Characterful hotel, a little out of town

We were concerned about the hotel's location when we arrived by taxi but there was no need to be worried. The tram system is so efficient that we were able to be in the centre of Zagreb within 15 minutes.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and our room was spacious and well equipped.

Happy to have chosen it for our very short stay.

The neighborhood is slightly out of town but the hotel is wonderful. The staff were great and the rooms luxurious. The gym is under going an upgrade and will be great once completed. The literature in the room says breakfast is included but when we asked we were told it was 10 euro each extra which was a coincidence as they special deal we got was a 20 euro discount. The restaurant is lovely but expensive. We had dinner down the road at a local pub for a fraction of the price. Hotel itself is definitely worth a stay.

Hotel pleasant enough but in residential area. Only things close are small shop, local bar and 2 formidable restaurants that have made no effort to entice passing trade in quite the opposite It is easy to get into city on bus and tram.Also we were only people in but our room not made up.

A Charming Hotel Experience

This is by far one of the best hotel experiences in many decades of traveling. The hotel itself is charming, and although pretty recent in construction, it captures a 19th century Croatian flavor with the decor and antique furnishings which come from all over the country. Every where you look, there's something that captures the eye: paintings, photos, vintage books, chairs, chandeliers, furniture. Hardwood floors in rooms were an unexpected bonus--much more sanitary than carpet, I would think. The staff were superb--warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. The hotel is peaceful, quiet and affords the opportunity for deep rest. The affiliated restaurant, which does indeed date from 1838, was right next door. Again, a hunting lodge out of the past in decor. The location, although outside the city center, is beautiful and lush and reminiscent, perhaps, of how you'd imagine a Balkan landscape. Easy access to the heart of the city with both bus and tram stops at the hotel. I give this hotel the very highest, unqualified and enthusiastic recommendation.

The hotel is steeped in history. If you like antiques and art then stay here. It is worth the trip to zagreb just to stay here and go to their restaurant. The staff are great and very helpful. We were even given a late night private tour of the museum and wine cellar with one bottle from 982.

Neo-classic hotel (made to look old, but was constructed only 3 yrs ago). Nice big room. Clean. No views. Excellent resturaunt associated with the hotel 2 mins walk. Grounds/driveway/parking lot a bit rough. 5 km away from sites, but you'll need a car. Breakfest could of been better (was home made, but cooks hours ago and they were bit disorganized when it came to breakfest. Details like: no napkins, hot food that was now cold because tray burner went out

SLEEPING INSIDE A CIGARETTE

The hotel says it's a non smoking place but in fact people smoke in the loby and worse, they smoke inside the rooms.
The room we stayed at smelled so bad because of the cigaretes people smoked there that we had to sleep with the windows opened. The bed's matress was of such a bad quality that when you woke up you were in a hole, as it had receded. (We made a video)
We tried to get somebody from the reception at 3:30 am, because we couldn't sleep from the cigarrete smell, but there was no one there. (We made a video)
We do not recomend this hotel.

Ontbijt, vooral de koffie die door de eigenaar zelf werk gezet, was erg goed.
Hotel bevindt zich op 4,5 kilometer afstand van stadscentrum, echter goede verbinding d.m. Tram en bus.
De eigenaar was zeer vriendelijk.

De koelkast in onze kamer werkte niet
Hygiene was onder maat, onze kamer en de tapijt in onze kamer was erg vies.
Badkamer zeer donker, geen goede verlichting.
