Mixed review for this one. Starting on a positive note, this place is central. Close to the kasbah, petit/grand socco, shopping alleys. Parking too is 2 mts away. On the flip side, the room is old, moldy and the stench from the bathroom was unbearable if the drain was open.

Worth a stay

What a lovely place to stay for a few days. Although the room was small it wasn’t too bad. The staff were friendly and very helpful. My tv was stuck on mute so I reported it to reception. Before I knew it my tv was being replaced. The only drawback that I have to mention was the breakfast. I’m glad I did pay for B&B because I would have been very disappointed in the choice and selection on offer. That being said the surroundings in which the breakfast was served was amazing as it was on the roof terrace and offered fantastic sights and sounds. Would definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay here in this Riad. We experienced a very warm welcome.

The place was immaculately clean and exceptionally well presented. Super comfy room with en-suite facilities.

The location was great, a few minutes walk uphill from the large public car park and the Riad itself was located just inside the Medina, perfect for exploring the Medina itself & surrounding areas.

There is a rooftop area where you enjoy great views of the port.

Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The location is great. The rooftop patio & dining area offer a wonderful view of the Port & Bay of Tangier.
I've can see Tarifa, Spain and Gibralter across the Straight.
The rooms are spacious, well furnished & confortable.
The Mosque is just accross the alley, so you will hear the call to prayers early in the morning.
The Petit Socco is just up the street and the Grand Socco is a short stroll. The streets and alleys are steep and can be slippery when wet.
The staff of Dar Yasmin is very nice & helpful.
We are returning for another night, to stay before departing across the Straight of Gibralter.

The bathroom smelled of raw sewage. There is clearly a major issue with the plumbing.

The odour began shortly after we checked in, but we closed the door and hoped it would go away. When we opened the door in the morning, it was unusable. We both nearly gagged. Truly vile.

The front desk agent was also visibly revolted by the smell when he came to put some chemicals in the shower and toilet that somewhat masked the scent for 5-10 minutes.

Staff did not offer to let us use another room’s washroom to shower that morning when we asked directly, nor did they respond to requests for some type of refund (even partial) during check out. Despite a clear acknowledgment of how disgusting this smell was by the first front desk agent we spoke to, it was like pulling teeth to get a quick “sorry.”

The hotel is well-located and rooms would be very simple and nice (with some noise issues) were it not for this enormous problem. The fact that we received no offer to make it right was perhaps worse.

My room smelled like sewage. It was so bad I had to close the bathroom door the whole time, but it still smelled like walking over a bad sewage drain in the street. When people from other rooms flushed I could hear the water going through the shower drain pipes as if they were all connected and open...
Otherwise the room was extremely clean. The AC worked, but I couldn't control it and it was freezing all night long (I used the blankets).
The location is very nice - you are right in the middle of the medina market where all the travelers are walking. You can easily get to many restaurants, espresso, café's. You can walk down to the marina/beach, or catch a taxi or your tour vehicle in front of the Hotel Continental, which is a 5-10 minute walk. Google Maps works well for this hotel's location. Your taxi might had a hard time dropping you off and you might have to walk rolling your luggage through the streets 5 minutes or so. You could get dropped off on Rue Portugal on the hairpin turn at Bab Dar Dbagh.

Great place to stay in the Medina

We stayed 2 nights here. It was excellent, in a great location, quietly tucked away behind the main alley through the Medina. We knew that being close to the mosque we would be hearing the call to prayer in the middle of the night, but that was OK as we were expecting it. The rooftop terrace was a pleasant place to sit and for breakfast. The staff were all lovely.

Great single room with breakfast in the heart of the medina in Tangier. Clean, safe and super helpful staff. Be aware that the Riad is across the streen to the mosque. The call to prayer each morning is very loud. The host will remind you of this upon arrival. The host is also able to offer guide services. Please do not hestitate to ask them for anything.

This place is located exactly where I needed in the old Madinah. Friendly staff and clean place. Beautiful interior design. However, there is a barbershop that was close to my window, which makes some noise at night (10pm). That has nothing to do with the hotel honestly I still enjoyed my stay, but had trouble with the street noise.

I was very impressed with this quaint little Dar inside the medina.

My room was simple, and had everything I needed. I like simple a lot.

The medina was right out my door and I had a path to the coast and up the souks for everything I wanted to see.

Great location, although closeness to the early morning call to prayer might be tough for a long stay. Breakfast on top of roof was great with good service. Check in dicey as for shortchanged on “city tax”. Not worth arguing over but doesn’t leave a trusting taste.

This property was very recently renovated and it shows. Everything was new however the furnishings in the breakfast area were the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat on. The main lobby was not at all inviting and for a Riyadh that is very strange. That should be the welcoming area and a place that you would want to sit and relax. Not so. I asked for a wake up call on my last day as I was having a problem with my phone and that never came. Fortunately the loudspeakers from the mosque or no more than 50 ft away so I was up at 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30. Also only one person spoke English and she was not available most of the time. And last why would you put a 65-year-old woman on the very top floor in the very last room. Not a great idea

We stayed at this place for three nights as part of our honeymoon trip and we didn’t really enjoy our stay for the reasons below:
- There’s a mosque next to the dar. You can not relax due to the prayer call 5 times a day. It is extremely loud.
- We we’re told to be quite by the staff at 8am because we were laughing in the room as all honeymooners do. Very rude and unprofessional.
- Staff barely speak English, it gets exhausting at some point to try to ask questions.
- The rooms are clean but there are stains all over the floor which looks disgusting.
- The wifi is slow.
- Therea no soap dispenser. You have to leave the soap on the sink.
-There’s no shower gel or conditioner. Only shampoo.
-The room
Doesn’t have many amenities. You have to leave your stuff on the floor. There no closet, nowhere to sit or anything enough for tow people.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to couples or honeymooners. It’s like a prison.

A lovely hotel but services are a little on the stingy side. Housekeeping had to be reminded to add toiletries and even toilet paper when they serviced the room. The manager became a little snarky when I asked to pay the city taxes with a credit card insisting on cash and reminding me that she \"allowed\" me to enjoy breakfast even though I wasn't actually entitled to it with my booking. The hotel is well located in the center of the Petit Socco, but getting there with heavy luggage is a challenge. A taxi cannot take you to the door. The mosque across the way did not bother me but yes, it could be disturbing to others.
The lady manager may want my advice on this. Do not treat your patrons abruptly until they have left their review. It's always better that way.

Beautiful, cozy, and super clean rooms. Very comfortable beds. Abdul and Hannah were very helpful and attended to all our needs. Beautiful view from terrace. Wish we had more time there. Also loved the tiny, little alley we had to walk down to get to Dar Yasmine. Very beautiful interior treatments and very peacefull. The calls to prayer were beautiful.

My overall experience was very good. From the moment I walked in, The woman that was in charge and showed me around the room and if I had any questions, I was able to ask away. Breakfast was decent but wasn't bad either. You're able to step outside on the balcony and enjoy the view.The hotel also had their own excursions (I was able to do Hercules Cave but unfortunately by the time I got to the cave it was closed, so the taxi driver instead gave me another tour for no additional charges) The one thing I have to say...CALL OF PRAYERS!! I already knew booking at this location what I was getting myself into but they are LOUD. They do about 5 per day and the earliest is around 5:30am and the last one for the day is around 8:00pm. Please be mindful of this because it will wake you up. But other than that...Great place and would stay here again.

The staff and hotel are great and very very helpful. Our only complaint was that this hotel is a few feet from a loudspeaker on the main mosque for Tangier. We were woken up at 11pm and 4am by very loud prayers projected through a megaphone, daily. This is common for Islamic countries but this location made it especially loud.

The place is located right across the street from the oldest mosque in the city. So you hear the call to prayer at 0500 and then all the praying starting in 0600. There also was no shower door so you had to pull the cover off the drain to help facilitate the draining of the shower water.

This place is great for the value! Here are the bullet points:

- Host and staff are very accommodating and kind
- Room and bed are very clean, came with a safe
- Bathroom was super clean and quite nice, came with toiletries
- Air conditioner works during the day but was shut off at night - if it were summer it would have been super uncomfortable (we stayed in October)
- You will definitely hear the call to prayer in the morning - wear ear plugs if you don't want your sleep disturbed
- Terrace is super cute with a view of the sea
- Breakfast on the terrace was great and came with a hard boiled egg (most Riads we stayed in didn't provide much protein at breakfast). Also included the usual Moroccan breakfast items - varying breads, jams, butter, yoghurt, coffee, orange juice (deliciously pulpy!)
- We felt very safe - the door to the lobby is locked and monitored via video surveillance by the host
- You may want to haggle for a taxi to the Riad if you're coming from the airport. We paid 170 dirham but probably could have paid much less
- The entrance is down a very narrow alleyway. At the beginning of the alleyway is a small white sign with the name \"Dar Yasmine\". The sign isn't at eye level - look up

Dar Jasmine was a lovely place to get to know Tanger. It was right in the heart of the Medina, next to the Grand Mosque--so there is no way to not be able to find your way back. Everything you need is right in walking distance, even the port, if you want to travel by ferry.

I have already put one review up for this hotel, but we needed to go back to the hotel a week later as we were passing through Tangier and had some problems. We went back to the hotel hoping we could get out of the rain and sort out our problems. We knocked on the door at 7am in the morning and were greeted with a smile and asked to come in. We were offered coffee/tea, use of their wifi and electricity,. They also made phone calls for us to try and help. In the end they arranged a taxi for us, fixed the rate so we didn't have to haggle and got us going again - all Free of Charge!!. We offered money, but they politely refused. We had great service during our stay and got the same for free a week later. Can't ask for better.

Lost in Le Petite Socco, Tanger

Charming riad right in the bustle of the medina. Was not that easy to locate the entrance if not for a small signpost. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean and WIFI was good. Breakfast could have been more varied, but adequate. It would be good if drinking water was provided daily in the rooms. Other than that we had a comfortable stay and were always happy to return to the sanctuary of the riad after a day of getting lost in the souk! And we would like to give a special shout-out to the receptionist who was a great help and provided all the assistance we needed to get around safely and comfortably. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Fresh Off The Boat

This was our first time in Tangier and it was an eye-opener. Right off the ferry we were approached by a persistent man you said that he was a guide and he would not leave us alone. We continued walking and were approached by a child and another man who wouldn't stop following us. We knew the way to Dar Yasmine but the port of Tangier does not look like the streets on the map and a fourth man managed to convince us that he knew the way. He took us on a long windy detour when we were so close to our destination. Turns out he was notified by the front desk lady at the riad that we were coming as he had a business card and the young boy had a list of arrivals. He insisted on payment for this detour and we gave him 5 euros.

Otherwise the riad was OK. We were the only couple there so breakfast was served to us directly by a lady who did not seem to like her job serving breakfast. The room itself was cramped but it was heated which is an unusual positive in Morocco. The shower was designed to flood all over the bathroom so the floor was always either wet or damp. And the main mosque is right across the street so we woke up at 4:30 AM both days, woo hoo, and the second morning involved a 15-minute song at 5:00 AM. Wifi worked well. The approach is narrow and scary but that's somewhat normal. If you go, call ahead to have someone meet you or street view it so you know the area before you arrive.

Good hotel experience right in the Medina

We were very pleased with our stay at the Dar Yasmine in Tangier - we deliberately selected a hotel in the Medina rather than in the city itself. We found the hotel easily within minutes of entry into the Medina. The rooms faced an interior courtyard, and so were very quiet even though the hotel is located across from the Grand Mosque (yes we heard the 4:30 am call to prayer, but otherwise it was completely quiet.) The lobby and rooms were beautifully decorated, and the bedding was of good quality and comfortable. The bathroom facilities were modern, clean and worked well. Breakfast in the rooftop kitchen was plentiful, with eggs in addition to pastries, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. The rooms are small - my standard room for one was fine. The couple travelling with me found the standard room cramped for two, and would recommend booking a larger room. The staff were friendly and made good recommendations.

My stay at Dar Yasmine was very pleasant-- the staff were kind, flexible and helpful for us planning a trip out of Taniger. Also, the room was comfortable and clean. By far the best part of staying here is the beautiful terrace up top, where they serve a wonderful breakfast in the morning.

I booked the cheapest room, which was a little small for two people and all their luggage. But, it didn't matter much for me because I wasn't there for long, and I wasn't in the room much.

Overall, I would recommend staying here!

A Small Gem in the Old Town

The hotel is practically across the street from the ferry terminal, just tens of meters inside the Medina. It is very convenient for exploring the old part of town, but there are no restaurants nearby. The hotel is beautifully decorated and in excellent condition with a nice top-floor dining room and terrace with a view of the harbor. The breakfast was good but limited. Our room was very small with barely enough space to open a suitcase fully. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Warnings: It's also across the street from the Grand Mosque, so you will hear the call to prayer, and there is no elevator, so you will have to carry your bags upstairs.

Comfortable true Moroccan Feel

If you want a true Moroccan experience, this is the place for you. Comfortable bed, clean linens, plenty of hot water, beautiful decoration, helpful staff and perfect location. You can feel safe here as the main entrance door is always locked and is not on the main street. The breakfast which is part of your stay is wonderful. Plenty of local pancakes, croissants, jams, jellys, honey, pistacho yoghurt and wonderful coffee.

TV in room works wonderfully, but do expect to have internet connection. Wifi was iffy but there are plenty of cafes that have perfect wifi, so head out to the streets, have a mint tea or coffee and connect there.

Being right in the Medina was our number one priority so this location was perfect for our stay. The Grand Mosque is just across the way so the sounds of the prayers can be heard. Not so loud however even that close by.

This hotel is for those that want local and different. We loved our stay and would stay again.

wow what a beautiful experience. hotel is located in the heart of medina (old town) in tangier. this hotel is 5 story high with no elevators. although they help you with your laugages just be prepared to walk up the stairs if you are booked on the top floor or you are having breakfast that is served every morning on the top floor. the staff arevery friendly and speak French English and Spanish. the lobby is beautifully decorated with morrocan style furniture. restaurants and shopping are five mins away. and the beaches are 7 mins away

It's an authentic riad in a medina

It's a nice clean and well maintained riad in the centre of the medina it's well located if you want to right in the thick of it.

The riad itself is finished to a high standard with a great bed for each night when you return exhausted from your sightseeing. The hot water was always readily available so no complaints there.

My only issue was with the fact that I don't speak French and usually at some of the bigger hotels you find staff more bilingual. In this instance I would ask my questions but then still go of and Google stuff if they didn't understand what I was asking.

Oh yes they have reliable internet too.

If you plan to stay or visit medinas be prepared to improve your navigation skills or at least have a phone of you with GPS so you have a rough idea of where you are.

Breakfast is simple - some bread, jam and a boiled egg. Orange juice and coffee etc.

The only problem is the distance between the hotel to the mosque, so get ready to wake up at 4:00 am when the make the first praying call.

Great place to launch your Tangier explorations!!

After leaving the ferry (we were the very last through customs) there was no one else around. We were immediately descended upon by locals offering to be our guides. Watch out for the \"tourism officials\" who will flash you a foggy piece of plastic and offer to \"help\" you. When you exit the port, look up towards the hill. Across the street from the beach, you will see the Hotel Continental. Dar Yasmine is down and to the left of here about .25 of a mile. Cross in the crosswalk to the left of the port as you exit and look for the street that heads up and does a quick switchback to the right and then left to continue up towards the souk and petit socco. There is a sign on the right side of the steep street that shows Dar Yasmine. Hang a right down the narrow alley. There is a barber shop at the end. Great little hotel 5 minutes from ferry station

We stayed here after taking the ferry from Tarifa to Tangier. The hotel is a 5 minute taxi ride from the ferry station in the old madina. The staff is very friendly, perticularly Houda who works at the front desk. The wifi works, rooms are nice and clean. The only thing they could improve is the air conditioning in the upper level rooms. I liked our stay here and recommend if to anyone visiting Tangier.

amazing hideout after a busy day

Amazing and highly recommended for a private stay-away. You enter the room, it has pleasant aroma. During check-in, we were served traditional mint tea. It is silent, beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Well worth the money.

Location is also great if you want to explore the medina.

Clean, fresh hotel in the Medina

Dar Yasmine is a comfortable and clean option for people who want to stay just inside the Medina. The rooms have comfortable beds and good bathrooms. As another reviewer said, there are no external windows in the rooms, but there are small windows looking out over the small, interior courtyard.The included breakfast is also nice, though not extensive: local breads, fruit, yogurt, and fresh squeezed orange juice. If taking the ferry, Dar Yasmine is close to the Tanger port. Boats that end at Tanger leave from Tarifa.

Ac did not work, the rooms (we rented two) had a slightly odd smell that they seemed to try and mask with air freshened, the bathrooms were lovely but again had an odd smell. A bit small, but nice location easy to walk to from the ferry and the staff were very very nice. The rooftop, breakfast and service were all great.

Excellent séjour pour la deuxième fois au Dar Yasmina. Etape idéale dans la medina de Tanger à l'arrivée et au départ du Maroc, idéalement situé au-dessus du port pour Tarifa, tellement plus agréable que Tanger med. Parking sécurisé juste en dessous de l'hôte, très raisonnable.

Excellent séjour. Nous étions déjà venus il y a 5 ans et nous sommes ravis de constater que le lieu et le service n’ont pas changé. L’emplacement est parfait. Les chambres sont confortables. La décoration très soignée. Nous reviendrons à nouveau !
