Great experience at The Public. Great staff, comfortable space the breakfast in the morning at many different options. The hotel is centrally located in Taksim so it was easy to get around the city. Great restaurants and shopping very close by an easy walk or taxi to various sites. I highly recommend it. I had a great stay.

Great location, very friendly staff. The hotel was very clean and had a great breakfast selection although those expecting a full English will be disappointed but they cater to the international traveller. Extremely good value for money. The location is also excellent upon arrival our concerns where it may be noises however the room was extremely quiet and great air con too. Would definitely return.

The hotel was clean, and we were given a complimentary room upgrade. Breakfast was good. The area around the hotel is full of attractions and busy streets with a lively, energetic vibe, especially for young people. The hotel design is nice, although it used to be better in the past. Parking is very difficult to find, and even taxis can only wait a few seconds for you because the area is so crowded. The staff were helpful, but their service could have been more professional.

Arrived slightly early so accepted the wait for a room. Returning some 2 hours later and into the check-in hours, room still not ready. A further 15 minutes wait. When allocated room was informed we’d been upgraded. Nice surprise. Getting into the room - can’t understand what the upgrade was. Nice size room, but dusty and slight smell of drain. Strange set-up to the bathroom where you need to pass through the shower to get to the loo. Comfortable bed. One TV channel in English which played the same news report on a loop for the couple of days we were there, really ridiculous. The key card indicated 24/7 room service which led us to believe we could order a meal at round midnight when we came to the room. Well- surprise- there’s 4 DRINKS on room service and NO food. Complained- and response was- order from outside. What the heck! Really unacceptable/ then state you’ve got no room service! Staff at front desk were friendly, which was a saving grace. Restaurant for breakfast was cozy and nice selection on offer including great omelettes. Very busy side street on which the entrance is daily had rubbish piled high- awful to have to trudge past it to get to the door. Surely this garbage can be moved away from the area, poor reflection on Hotel The Public. So - in summary- this can ge a great little place if little changes can be made. Location is just a minute from Istiklal Street, which is awesome.

I really enjoyed my stay!
The location was perfect — very central and easily accessible to all the main attractions in Istanbul, whether on foot or by public transport. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed.

A special shoutout to Emin, Mert, and Nihat — they truly went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness and professionalism made a big difference.

The price was also very reasonable for the quality of service and location, which made the experience even better.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Istanbul, and I’d happily stay here again!

Rooms although a good design are very tired and need a face lift. Shower head in my room needs a proper clean and descale. Breakfast is very average at best. Staff helpful at reception. The nearby nightclub is very noisy with thumping music making sleep difficult!

-Hotel is nicely decorated, they gave us a beverage upon check-in and communication was great between us and the hotel
-Rooftop room was spacious and we surprisingly never hit our heads on any beams
-Great location for shopping

CONS
-Bed was supposed to be a king, but it was not. It was bigger than a queen but it was an odd size.
-Bathroom/shower area was VERY small. Could barely turn around inside the bathroom. Water leaked out from the shower into the toilet area. Detachable shower head was broken and had a leak between the handle and where the hose connected so it never worked. Smallest bathroom I've ever seen
-Hotel did arrange our airport transfers but never let us know that it would need to be cash only when departing for our outbound flight the next morning. They did work with us but it would have been great to know this in advance since our transportation leaving for the airport was at 5 AM.
-NOISE! Noise from the street below continued well into the night and this was on a weekday. It was mostly music from somewhere on the street (we were on the 5th floor) and it did keep me up throughout the night.
-Rooftop terrace doesn't have too great of a view, but I expected that. The tiles could be cleaner out there.

I didn’t receive an upgrade because I don’t believe I was told about it in advance. So when I had the chance to check in early in a standard rate room I took it. Not know I was upgraded. Same with the wine. It was in the room but I wasn’t told it was for me. I thought I had to pay for it if I wanted it. It’s nice but you should let people know.

The day before arriving they switch our rooms to a building down the street with no lobby. They said the rooms we had booked had no windows, so while the new rooms had a window with a decent view, we were no longer in the hotel and had no lobby or facilities.

My recent stay at a purported 4-star hotel was nothing short of disappointing. I had booked a room measuring 22 sq. meters with a king-size bed, only to be assigned a significantly smaller room with a troublesome column obstructing the space. To make matters worse, the king-size bed advertised turned out to be a queen-sized one, and the hotel's explanation that this was a "mistake". Despite acknowledging their "mistake" the hotel agreed only to change the room, maintaining the queen-sized bed.
Both rooms I occupied were dimly lit and fell short on cleanliness, with noticeable cobwebs in various corners. The second room presented additional issues, as it suffered from inadequate drainage in the shower, causing water to pool and making access to the toilet a soggy ordeal. The ill-fitting glass door separating the shower from the toilet exacerbated the problem, resulting in more water spilling into the toilet area. Towels provided were showing signs of wear, and bathroom storage space was lacking.
Breakfast was another letdown, missing pastries and charging extra for fresh juice.
In summary, this hotel failed to live up to its 4-star billing. I strongly advise considering alternative accommodations if possible. The experience was marred by false advertising, cramped and poorly maintained rooms, substandard cleanliness, and a lackluster breakfast. It was a far cry from the expected comforts of a 4-star hotel.

This Hotel is in the heart ❤️ of Istanbul. Walking distance to the most popular sites. Staff was amazing, courteous from Mevlut to Delara. The breakfast was absolutely devine, a variety of everything to eat. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends. Great Boutique Hotel!!

It’s a great boutique hotel located next to Istiklal Street, accessible to everything. The interior design is eclectic and very cool. Very friendly and helpful personnel. The room we stayed at the rooftop have low ceilings and the bathroom was small, but might not be the case with the guest rooms on the other floors. In general, it was great staying there!!

I was pleasantly surprised to see how amazingly charming this hotel was. Of all my stays in throughout Turkey, I enjoyed their breakfast the most. Hotel receptionist, Berat, really went above and beyond to help me with my accommodations and getting a taxi for my next hotel. He was so very kind upon my check-in as well and gave useful advice for staying in Istanbul. Room was very cool, hotel itself was eclectic and tastefully designed, and the cappuccino in the breakfast room was one of the best I've had ever. I wanted to extend my stay, but they were fully booked unfortunately. I think the price was very reasonable and hope to stay here in future trips to Istanbul.

This is a lovely boutique hotel in the heart of things ! The breakfast was fantastic, we stayed in a superior room it was really nice -yes a little noisy but no problem fir our 3 night stay . Beirut and Osman were super helpful as were all staff
To management I would like to point out that the lighting in rooms could be improved- not good for night readers . Also the shower /toilet configuration is the wrong way around! The water sits on shower floor then if u need to use the toilet you have to pass on the wet floor this is not good at all

Amazing Boutique Hotel

What a wonderful hotel and staff! This hotel is located at the heart of İstiklal Street. It is at the centre of everything and all the sights. You can walk to Galata Tower, Karakőy, Eminőnů, Dolmabahce and so on. Rooms were very clean and staff was absolutely amazing. İsmail went beyind his duties and helped us to get a vehicle in front of the hotel even though the road was closed for traffic. We stayed here for our wedding and our guests also loved the hotel. I cannot find anything wrong about it.

Right off the Istiklal street, good for anyone looking for shopping during the day and cafes and bars at night. Taxis dont like to go there after 4pm due to high pedestrian volume so will try drop you off a block away to save time for themselves but no issues getting taxis earlier in the day. Staff attentive but overcharge at every opportunity presented to them. Overall an okay experience

The location of the hotel is unparalleled, right at the heart of Istiklal street in the middle of all the action. The hotel is very stylish and good-looking too. Great breakfast platter. Comfortable bed and beddings.

Now the cons. There was no soap in the bathroom. The bathroom can’t be locked, and has frosted glass door. So not suitable for friends sharing the room.

Also I booked a “superior suite”. Hotels.com website said the room would have 1 Queen and 1 single bed. But apparently the superior suites at the hotel only have 1 queen bed, not 2 beds as stated. Wish this was clearly mentioned at hotels site.

The room design is really special with the drawing and the glass bathroom. The amenities within the room from fridge to phone to coffee machine are really nice and rarely available in most hotels. The staff are very friendly. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is the fact that our taxi driver dropped us at a different point since the side roads from Taksim are hard to get to but this rule stands for everything within Taksim.

A nice place off a small street near Taksim, this hotel was well located and had a neat design. Elevators are small, but plenty large enough as I found no competition for their use. Plenty of great restaurants and sightseeing nearby. Room and bed were comfortable. Bathrooms were oddly configured, but clean and feature many combinations of soft lighting. I would stay again.

Hotel was ok. I stayed 2 days in Sultanahmet area and 2 days at Taksim. The 2 days at Sultanahmet were amazing as I feel welcomed and treated as a guest than a customer. Occidental is not a bad hotel. I just don't like the room layout as the bathroom has no privacy at all and room was super small. I feel you can get a better hotel in the same price. The best thing about this hotel is its location.

the hotel is more of a small three star boutique hotel than a four star. The room was clean and perfectly located on Istiklal street for shopping, a late night walk, clubbing but this make it in the middle of a very noisy district with a club that doesn't shut until early morning so if you have trouble sleeping with noise, this is definitely not a good choice for you. Otherwise the staff are helpful, the hotel is well located and rooms are fairly priced.

First the staff was so friendly! The location is in the heart of Taksim street, so busy but you still can sleep. The big rooms are good but double beds are so tight. The building old and the rooms can get stuffy. Most importantly the breakfast wasn’t good at all. I’ll rate the hotel 3 Star. If you rent a car there are lots of otto park around but the streets can be crazy busy and under constructor.

We were 3 Couples, stayed in best Junior Suite Category Room, for 5 nights in last week of April. Air Conditions were not working in any of the Room. Hotel should inform us before check-in. I have been all around the world but have never seen such a disgusting House Keeping. The Hotel should have been given negative marking in this. The moment we chkin (and we chkin late in evening) we found the Rooms were not clean. There were so much hairs and dirt on the floors. The towels were not clean. The Washbasin/sink was choked and was also leaking. Hotel have to call the plumber at night to stop the water leakage. As A/c were not working we have to open the windows, but nobody can sleep while the window is open as being on the main street/near clubs its very noisy and disturbing until dawn 4:00 am. If you close you will die with suffocation. So terrible nights we spent. The hot water kettle in the room is horrible design. In order to make the room Stylish they have done blunders. The Toilet smells badly in all the rooms, as its like the Toilet Seat opening directly in the Room. If you hang and also get noted it down on the reception to clean the rooms properly, then also House Keeping will not clean the Rooms. The same complaint of cleanliness is seen with other guests shouting at the reception. The only positive point is that Hotel is right on Istiklal Street but thats also turns negative that results in noisy nights. I will never recommend anyone to stay there.

Fabulous Hitel

It was our second time staying in this hotel! Comfy bed, very clean and right in the heart of Istiklal and Taksim square. Reasonably priced for its fantastic location and professional staff! Thanks you Occidental Team Istanbul! See you again next winter!

Beautiful modern interior design

I loved the design! I didnt have any view! But its oki, over all it was good hotel and def will stay there again for my coming trips, the only thing i needed scale to weight my luggage before i go to airport and they didnt have!

Great location, Not as good as last time.

I stayed at this hotel about a year and a half ago with friends when it was under previous ownership. I have since stayed at other hotels in Istanbul but we wanted to stay here again given the good location for nightlife. However, this was not the same experience as before. Our room was not very clean when we checked in and when we put the door tag out our first full day there to have the room cleaned, the only thing done was to remove 2 empty bottles from the room (the bed wasn't made, the bathroom wasn't cleaned, etc.). The following day the room was finally cleaned but the trash was never taken out. The friends we were traveling with had a broken air conditioner and though they repeatedly asked to have it repaired, it never was.

Everyone we encountered who worked there was very friendly and helpful and that is what made the experience better. The design of the hotel is still very nice but the rooms need to be better maintained.

Windowless room!

When we turned up they put us in windowless rooms. This is not explicitly stated with CAPITAL or BOLD letters on their or your website. They also made a fuss about the room not being pre-paid. I emailed ahead (via you) asking for help with parking but heard nothing back from either you or them. Not impressed.
Hotel otherwise is contemporary, with espresso machine in room and L'occitane toiletries. House keeping needs better bathroom maintenance though, and safe is not re-set for use. Some power sockets don't work either. All in all the service was so so.

Disappointed Hotel

I really was disappointed and mainly from the cleanness level for the room and the bath room as well, the housekeeping was miserable.
the room size for the standard double bed was too tight and even the bid is tight for two persons, in other words, we could not move freely on the room.
for two days, they did not equipped the batch room with accessories like Shampoo
I made a complaint on housekeeping but no action were taken.

Our staying in Occidental the Public was amazing. i'm defiantly coming back again.. the only thing that was a bit not so good is the variety of the breakfast items.. i hope you can improve that.

Great Experience

A perfect place and reception staff. Spotless clean and comfortable room. Comfy matttress and pillows. In the middle of istiklal street. Though not many options but quality breakfast. I will always stay there. Keep up the good quality and service.
