Staff were great but the property really needs some TLC. We stayed in room 19 and 20. They really were very much in need of some investment. The bathrooms were awful to the point that 4 of us left with out showering as they had so much built up grime and scale none of us fancied using them.

My room had a feeling of neglect about it. I don’t mind a bit of peeling wallpaper but it had a smell, as if it hadn’t been opened for a long time. Breakfast of cheap ingredients. Poor hotel, it has a really nice breakfast room and garden, but desperately needs some investment and customer care to bring it back to a standard. I hope this happens. For the equivalent price I paid I’ve stayed in so many decent places, and my price at the Antrobus was supposedly ‘discounted’.

Stayed here for one night with my partner. Got upgraded to the “Beatles” suite. Struggled to get the key to work in the door and had to get the hotel receptionist to open it. The room was incredibly dusty and there were hair and crumbs on the bedside tables. There was even dust all over the black walls. The bathroom was disgusting- mouldy and damp with no ventilation. The bathroom also looked on to the front street however there window beside the toilet was not private, with only 2 small panes of private glass. There was a blind in the bathroom but it was so grotty neither of us wanted to touch it to attempt to shut it. The bed was large however half of the mattress springs had gone on one side and so half of the bed was sloping.

Really disappointed with the stay here, had we not arrived so late we would have left and found a different hotel.

The receptionist who checked us in was lovely, but we didn’t see anyone else that night/ morning when we left.

Needs a massive investment, and could do with a good clean , I stayed in the luxury suite , there was nothing luxurious about it , there were holes in the walls , very dusty, walls marked , smelt of damp.

GOOD VALUE HOTEL.

The hotel is easy to find and a 24hr car park opposite. We arrived at 9pm on a saturday. There was a loud party taking place, however we were quickly greeted and checked in. Luckily our room was located at the far end of the hotel, so we couldnt hear the noise. The room was a good size, however there was a few problems with room that would improve the experience. The bathroom light is on a movement sensor and constantly turns off while your using the bathroom, the shower had mould above it on the ceiling and there were a few cobwebs located near the windows. Apart from this the hotel is very good value. But feel a few changes would make a big difference.

A cheap but comfortable night's stay.

The hotel looks pretty run down (in comparison to The George). The man on Sunday breakfast duty was almost unintelligable (when asking for my cooked order) and was unkempt with little 'bedside manner'.

The lady on reception during Saturday evening took ages to appear to book me in however apologised profusely as she was running the bar too. She swiftly came out later and gave me the spare room key when I reported to he that I'd carelessly locked myself out!

Breakfast provided both coninental and full English - both of which I availed myself of as had a long day ahead. The cooked breakfast came in a very timely manner but without any presentation skills. The poached egg had hardly any white attached so was probably the small egg available. Tasty enough though.

The bed (in Room 15) was very comfy and I enjoyed a restful sleep. However, the room was directly above a function room where the very loud bass and club dance music ponded out until about 2330.

The tea/coffee cups were the wrong size for the saucer so it wobbled spilling some.

Wonderful hospitality

The hosts were wonderful. really made me feel welcome and safe and provided a total sanctuary away from the dusty festival I was performing at. lovely view from the window onto the fountain which created a tranquil vibe. the breakfast was absolutely delicious but most of all it was the staff and managers who really went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and I cannot fault their hospitality. Loved my stay.. would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Too noisy for families

Booked 2 family rooms, didn’t know the music would be thumping until 1am otherwise we wouldn’t have booked. Mattresses are not great - feel every spring! The bathroom has mould on the ceiling and dirt and mould in other places. The bathroom light is on a sensor - no idea where the sensor is it just comes on randomly and goes off if you don’t move for about 20 seconds - useless when going for a wee! The toilet isn’t overly secure and tips when sat on. My partner has issues in the other room too, with the shower knobs not working well when he went to turn it off it wouldn’t engage! The noise from the road and local pubs etc went on until 1am, if we had known we wouldn’t have booked as a family. No spoons to stir the coffee with either - annoying at 6am on 4 hours sleep. The doors in the hall really bang closed (fire doors) so when people are coming back it can be very loud. Big beautiful old building, and fine if you are going out partying and just want a place to crash but as a family it really wasn’t for us!

Overall the place and location are fabulous. Really close to Stonehenge and a lovely, walkable town. The room is spacious with a lovely seating area. The bed had two visible indentations on each side. The bathroom had sone black mold that with a little care could be remedied. The bathroom overhead light went on and off the entire time we were there whether you were in the bathroom or not. They had nowhere to move us so we dealt with it. The woman at the desk tried to tell us it shouldn't do that. Agreed. And it did!

This hotel is very close to Stonehenge so quite convenient for tourists going there. The property is quite dated and the beds not very comfortable, but passable. Bathroom is teeny. The proprietor was very nice, but we didn't see much of her. The front desk is mostly unmanned, with a bell to ring for service.

We stayed at the Antrobus as it was cheap and convenient for visiting Amesbury. Positives: Low cost, friendly and helpful staff, clean bedding and some basic facilities (tea/coffee biscuits and shampoo). Negatives: Dated rooms and surroundings, our room was also directly above a wedding disco (that ended promptly at midnight), no air conditioning. I would add that Amesbury felt like a safe and friendly town.

A lovely friendly traditional hotel. A lovely historic coaching inn on what was once the highway through Amesbury. A short drive to Stonehenge and walks close by along the very beautiful River Avon. The room was spacious and the shower good. Very quiet. Good value.

Great location shame about the hotel.

To be honest I think the best thing to do would be to completely gut the building and modernise it. I stayed in room 11 Lumpy mattress. Dirty room. Linen was clean. Bathroom sink dripped all the time. Gutters leaked. Bathroom room light kept coming on and off on its own(movement sensor).
Thai restaurant on the premises was top class. Breakfast was scrumptious cooked to order so hot. Excellent choice of beer in the bar. You can park outside the hotel from 18:00-08:30 so don’t pay £6.20 like I did. 10 mins from Stonehenge.

The shower really needed replacing, repaired with a curtain on cable ties, water leaked out everywhere and the wall attachment was broken as well making it even harder to keep the water in the cubicle.

A disappointing experience, sadly.

I am now a regular visitor to Amesbury and decided to try a less expensive option (compared to my standard choice) for a quick 1 night solo visit.
Whilst the room was a good size it was a disappointing experience. The room was quite dark and the temperature in the room was rather cold. The radiator in the room would not turn on and the “duvet” on the bed was rather thin, providing minimal overnight warmth. My room was at the back of the hotel which turned out to be a little noisy due to a pub or club nearby. All in all a disappointing experience. Just glad the wife wasn’t with me because I think she would have insisted on leaving.

Very disappointing

We were disappointed from the start, we arrived to find that our 2 family rooms that we booked where not available, we were given a family room and a double room, which for 5 of us may not seem a problem but when the 2 that are sharing the double room are a mother and her 15 year old son, it wasn’t really appropriate. They had nothing available to change this. As for the family room, th3 additional bed added to make it a family room was literally a camp bed with a folded up duvet under the sheet to make it slightly softer. It was aweful!
The cleanliness was also an issue as well as the general maintenance of the whole place. It is very deceiving as the entrance hall/reception is quite lovely. It is such a shame, there is so much potential, it’s a beautiful building but it is sadly falling into disrepair.
The breakfast was fine and the staff were nice enough but unfortunately we will not be staying there again

Basic 3 star hotel with an excellent Thai restaurant, highly rated, within the hotel.
Rooms vary in size tending to be smaller towards the front of the hotel, very basic but the bed was comfortable and we slept well.
There are numerous pubs and restaurants in the very near vicinity including those catering for breakfast, brunch etc.
It is very convenient for Stonehenge and Salisbury cathedral amongst other attractions and it is reasonably priced.
Our only concern was the cleanliness of the bathroom with hairs found in the shower and a lack of space to use for your toiletry bag(s).

My parents room had no toilet paper, our room had less than half a roll. My room had now remote for the TV and I was told by the lady up front (just tell your kids to use iPads. First off we didn’t bring iPads, she said it without a care in the world. She said there was not one for my room and she knew it when she gave use the keys. We kids of depend on a little TV for our 6 & 10 year old to unwind after a long day of travel and sight seeing. Parents room had mold in the shower. Glad we were moving on after just 1 night

Disappointing with promise

Looks like this is a hotel that’s recently been taken over. Downstairs public areas all very good. Room was disappointing. Blind was broken and on the floor. Bed was lovely and big but mattress so soft it was uncomfortable. Bathroom floor tiles uneven and cracked. Bathroom light on sensor which stayed on for 20 minutes! Not good for sleeping or for electricity consumption. Bottle of water provided but no glasses. No bath mat Lack of wall plugs. Horrible mess in the yard below room Staff polite and helpful. Hopefully this is an ongoing project that will soon be completed

The room was filthy unfortunately :( filthy bathroom floor and brown inside toilet, dirty walls and wallpaper hanging off, so many cobwebs and months worth of dust. The tea and coffee cups were stained and really off putting. The service at the bar was not great, often empty behind the bar and difficult to find staff to serve us. The noise coming from the bar was not relaxing! Overall, the most disappointing room we have ever stayed in…

Staff were very helpful and friendly and the meal in the restaurant was delicious. Beautiful old hotel but needs a little bit of attention to detail. The lawn at the back needed a hood cut and in general the gardens needed tidying. They could be stunning. In our room there were a few cobwebs on the ceiling and a few bits of black mould on the sealant around the shower. All easily fixed. Main concern was there was a mouse running across the ceiling most of the night.

*Not sure if we double paid as we booked via Hotels.com and apparently the room wasn't available so we were moved to another room
*Bathroom is so dated,

*Extremely poor ventilation - bathroom and bedroom smell mixed together in the room.
* I felt I would rather be at home as the humidity and ventilation issues made it very uncomfortable.

Our room (14) was very small and the beds very narrow. No where to put anywhere. Lighting flickered and Wifi mostly didnt work. Very few staff or visitors wore masks. There was a very large dog in the lounge. Breakfast- lots of items not available . I womt be staying here again

Whilst the carpet was new and there was a massive new telly, the walls have been not well decorated. Worst it was not very clean. And in time of covid i would expect a room to be clean and sanitised. A Great Overnight Stay

I stayed at this dog friendly inn en-route to another destination. There isn't on-site parking, but there is a private car park directly opposite. We didn't have to pay for this during our stay. This grand old house has been converted to a hotel. The staff are friendly and attentive, in all aspects of customer service.
We were allocated a spacious family room which contained a king size bed and 2 singles. Ensuite shower. Toiletries, tea, coffee are provided. It was located at the front of the hotel facing the main road. Traffic noise wasn't an issue. A fan was needed as it was warm, which was also provided. A good nights sleep was had.
Free WiFi and Freeview TV.
It has an on-site bar and Thai restaurant which provided a great meal and good value.
Dogs are allowed in the comfy lounge area, where you can eat your meal.
There is a lovely large garden with outdoor seating.
Please note there is a £10 charge for the dog.

Great little find in a quiet and peaceful village.

This was a great little find in the village of Amesbury. Staff were very helpful throughout the stay.
We managed to explore the village a little and even found a park for the little one just 10 minute walk away.
Disappointed that breakfast wasn’t available but appreciate the current climate.
The bathroom was a bit dated and the queen mattress was actually two singles together. The springs have seen better days!
On the plus side, the beer garden was warm and friendly and the resident dog proved a hit with my little one.
There was a selection of places to eat very close by.
All in all, we had a lovely stay :)

Very short notice booking and couldn’t have been more happy with the venue and the staff and the facilities onsite. We had been travelling for 8hrs to get there and we were super happy to find that we could order amazing Thai food and drinks to our room. The hotel has a great pub menu but also has a Thai restaurant within the hotel that you can opt for sit in or takeaway. Food was very reasonably priced and delicious. We had our two toddlers and dog with us so opted for room dining and we were very impressed all round. We went there as it was close to Stonehenge where we were visiting the following day and we were so happy we booked in for a second night. Thanks to the Owner and his team for looking after us! Highly recommend

Clean and comfortable but dated

I stayed at the Antrobus for one night. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the room was comfortable and clean albeit a bit dated and in need of refurbishment which from the signage inside the hotel, is currently being undertaken.

The physical state of the hotel felt old and dirty. Needs a good spring clean and a spot of paint.

My room had creaky floorboards, the toilet kept on refilling long after it was flushed. The beds, curtains, wardrobes and other fittings were very tired and dated.

Good people but needs some TLC

Room was dirty. Floor Tiles broken . Blind broken . Shower unit needs repairing. No milk for tea-coffee. The girls working there were helpful and friendly though, I just think the room we stayed in needs some tlc

Great hotel in small town centre.

Really nice hotel. Great location in the centre of the small town of Amesbury. Great service from Nick behind the bar and Damian and Angela who manage the hotel were very friendly. Hotel is allegedly haunted but we didn’t encounter any spirits - other than in the bar!! Our third stay here and we will definitely be back.

Nice but needs a dust

Great location near Stonehenge. We only stopped one night. Nice little hotel that just needs a lick of paint and a dust to get rid of all the cobwebs. Staff are nice and friendly.

Relaxing stay at Antrobus

Everyone is very friendly and the staff is more than willing to accommodate ones needs. Angela upgraded our room to the room where the Beatles stayed when filming their music video Help! and was so kind to our daughter. The hotel has such a wonderful feeling about it—a community/family feel that I reckon resonates throughout the entire town. I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Comfy, friendly hotel - I would recommend

I decided to stay at The Antrobus because I had my dog with me: The Antrobus is dog friendly. All the staff could not have made us feel more welcome. I was invited to let my dog have a run in the walled garden - in the evening with lights on it was like a winter wonderland, covered in thick snow and icicles from the fountain. My room was clean and very comfortable. In the evening I had a couple of drinks in the bar - the locals are friendly too, with a love of dogs. I shall be in Amesbury in April and hope I shall be able to stay at The Antrobus then.

The website says free parking. There are only 4 spaces. Website promotes the restaurant - we made a reservation but were told it is always closed at this time of year when ee checked in. Loud banging through the night and only space for hanging clothes in a double room was the size of a work locker. Window would not shut and therefore nad security.
