Wow! Perfect place to stay- close to central Market … very clean and comfortable - staff was friendly and helpful, nice breakfast, tea/coffee etc. ..and loved KiKi the baby Alpaca in the courtyard! … fyi no music or drink in Feb, as it was low season- but would recommend this hotel 100%!

Many of the rooms have limited windows. They lack AC or heat so there’s minimal fresh air exchange unless a window is open. But then the street noise and exhaust fumes can be a serious issue. Very limited western outlets, no mini fridge, no coffee maker. Beds are hard but we slept well.

Location is good, staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast staff are also excellent. However,, buffet food is not properly heated and kept warm.

This is an FANTASTIC hotel! The staff is excellent, the rooms are spacious and spotless, and the location can't be beat. The ambiance created with the open courtyard and the wandering alpaca make it a truly unique experience. And the breakfast is delicious. I highly recommend Union Hotel.

I loved my stay the only complaint i had is my room was near the stairway and i think bigfoot and his family were staying there because they were loud going up and down the stairs at night. So my obly advice dont get a room near stairwell. Other than that stay was wonderful

The free lesson from Kiki’s mom.

I had an unexpectedly wonderful and educational experience at the Union Hotel in Cusco, where I met Veronica—who affectionately calls herself “Kiki’s mom.” Kiki is a smart 10-month-old Huacaya alpaca (one of the two alpaca types) living in the hotel courtyard. Veronica comes every day to care for her, and what began as a casual encounter turned into an incredibly informative, hands-on cultural lesson.

Veronica is from Quiquijana, in the province of Quispicanchi. She brought with her a rich collection of materials, including all four types of highland fibers from the Cusco and Machu Picchu regions. Her explanations were immediately practical—especially for travelers hoping to buy authentic souvenirs. She taught us how to distinguish real fibers from fake ones simply by touching and smelling them, which is invaluable in local markets.

She also demonstrated the use of a traditional tool called the pushka, used since pre-Inca times to spin animal fibers into yarn, and explained how these threads are then turned into blankets, clothing, hats, and more. One particularly moving moment was when she proudly showed a textile made by her grandmother—an “alive” piece of heritage filled with symbols, each carrying its own meaning.

What impressed me most was her demonstration of natural dyeing. Using only water, a white translucent alum stone, and cochineal, she showed how dozens of vibrant colors can be created.

On our last day the hotel was completely empty it was only me and my mom. The new management arrived at 6am EXTREMELY LOUD people were walking up and down the stairs on non stop smoking sage all over the hotel we couldn’t breathe, it was awful. I asked them if they could respect us and let us sleep but it was like talking to the wall. The new people that are running the hotel are extremely rude, they didn’t respect me and my mom. They were walking like elephants up and down. Didn’t let us rest at all. It’s being an awful experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY. If you want to ruin your trip book this hotel.
I told the receptionist that 6am is not ok to wake people up on vacation. Not even my earplugs helped me to fall back asleep because they won’t respect you they won’t stop and they won’t respect you as a guest.

Only two complaints was there was a large gap under the door so I was cold. And the lack of heat not helping my coldness. The shower is phenomenal hot water forever and amazing water pressure. A baby alpaca live at the hotel and she is my new best friend. Every employee there went above and beyond to help us. I would let any of them use me as a reference on their resume. Normally I would want to gate-keep a place this good.

The hotel manager knew that I am in the ICU for acute respiratory failure. from Nov. 25-Dec-1, yet they did not cancel my reservation and charged me fully while was in ICU. They bought my belongings to the ICU but charged me for the stay anyway. They are cruel, inhuman, and a blot on humanity

I found a hair in the bed (not my color) and the bottom of the tub was not very clean. There was a hairdryer which was a plus. The courtyard was a nice area to sit in while we waited.

The Union Cuzco hotel is a hidden gem close to the market(s) and the historical districts. Easy walking and I felt very safe. This hotel also has Ki Ki - a baby alpaca who is adorable & greets you throughout your visit. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Staff at check in was rude and there were no towels in the room when we arrived, they didn’t make up the room everyday, WiFi is terrible no connection most of the time, breakfast buffet was diverse but ran out of food quickly so every time we go there’s no food and took them forever to bring a small plate of something for the buffet which runs out quickly so it was almost like people fighting over food, electric plugs are loose in the rooms and u have to hold it to use anything that needs electricity, very loud and people were sitting outside our door smoking and talking loud until late, the night staff at the desk was annoyed every time we asked her about something, but day staff were very nice and helpful and location is a short walk from historic city center. Resident llama Kiki is very cute. Nice courtyard where they have music in evenings. Overall a run-down hotel, with a lot of inconveniences (although not cheap in general), seems not very well managed and the staff are left to deal with all the issues on their own so they’re frustrated and not very friendly at first

The clearest thing I can say about the staff at this hotel is that they have it down. I arrived early, they handled the paperwork, grabbed my bags and sent me on my way with a promise to notify me if my room was available early. I returned to find my baggage in my room and a well thought out welcome gift waiting for me. Not just your usual candy but useful items we often forget, nail clippers, a comb, eye shades, toothbrush.
The room is spacious and well laid out, the separate sitting area provides a nice change from fighting with my husband over who gets the single chair! There were even a couple of books available to make things homey
I went into the courtyard to find an adorable little alpaca named Kiki who was roaming about looking for pets. Pretty awesome!
I found out they had actually cooking and bartending class available. I learned to
Make cerveche from the talented and forgiving chef, Frank, who only winced a little at my knive work. Juan translated for all of us and kept things flowing as the host . Shakira gave us a lesson in bartending by having us make a piso sour. She added a perfect touch with real flowers to decorate the drinks. Did I mention that there was no charge for these activities? On my final day, while chatting with the staff during breakfast that this trip was to celebrate our 40th anniversary they offered us mimosas. Later they brought up a nicely decorated \"happy aniversary plate to our room.

Stayed two nights. When we arrived, there was no running water in the room, but shortly thereafter the problem was fixed. But on the morning of checking out, just as we were heading out to do the challenging inca trail, the hotel had no water. Not just hot water - NO WATER at all. Couldn't shower, brush teeth, wash hands, or even use the bathroom before leaving the hotel. Staff pretended to try to identify the problem, but an hour later, as we were leaving, there still was no water at all. Also, the staff came in the evening to prepare the room for the night, and left the door wide open - when we arrived, the door was just open to anyone who could have chosen to come into the room and take our stuff. Luckily, nothing was stolen. And throughout the stay, the wi-fi was poor at best, and mostly unavailable. Would NEVER return to this hotel.

This hotel was very nice very updated. It had heated floors in the room. The bed was heated and had a nice heated floor in the bathroom, which I thought was very nice. The bed was comfortable the food and the staff were very nice. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is because I was guaranteed a late checkout and when I went to go confirm that they told me I couldn’t stay late. They also had a very nice turn down service, which was a nice touch.

The Union Hotel was great! The hotel is one block away from San Pedro Market and San Pedro station as well as a 10 mins walk from the Plaza de Armas. Its a great place to be to in Cusco of you prefer to be a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the City. They also have a cute patio with events most days of the week. A plus is that you can order a car from the airport and back.

The rooms are cute and spacious. The beds pretty standard but not over the top. I didn't know I needed a rainfall shower but that was a nice surprise. Anyway stay here! The staff, including Juan, Abelina, and Daniella, are nice and very accommodating whether English or Spanish speaking 💜

We had an excellent stay at Union Hotel! From the moment we arrived, Jennifer at the front desk was so welcoming and helpful, making check-in smooth and pleasant. At the restaurant, Katherine and Annabelle went above and beyond with their friendly service and attention to detail, which made breakfast each morning a real highlight. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better—close to everything—and we really appreciated how they take care of the little details that make a stay comfortable and stress-free. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices to start the day right. Overall, Union Hotel has a fantastic team and atmosphere, and we’d happily stay here again! The hotel itself is cute and charming, with nice décor and thoughtful amenities, but unfortunately, my overall experience wasn’t great.

A few days before my check-in, I requested an airport pickup and provided my full flight details well in advance. However, the reception insisted that my flight was going elsewhere and not to Cusco, so they didn’t arrange the pickup. We ended up having to find our own transportation upon arrival.

Additionally, the water shut off in the middle of my shower, which was quite frustrating. While the room setup and amenities were nice, the lack of helpfulness from the reception and the service issues made the stay less enjoyable.

I personally wouldn’t stay here again and would choose another hotel next time I visit Cusco.

The space was clean and airy. It was nice to share a king sized bed after a few weeks of travelling. There were nice touches like complimentary chocolaty treats. There were a lot of included items like personal bug spray, toiletries, etc. though thoughtful, I worry about potential waste overall with these features (for example we did not need any of these). The breakfast was really wonderful. There were a lot of programs offered during the day that we did not take advantage of because of our short stay. Overall, a few min walk off the main strip but that was ok by us. Union provided everything we needed!

Union Hotel Cusco truly felt like a home away from home. The property has a cozy, homey vibe and is perfectly located—just steps from San Pedro Market and within easy reach of shops and restaurants in the area.

The staff were amazing—warm, welcoming, and helpful in every way. We were celebrating both our birthday and honeymoon, and the thoughtful welcome surprise of amenities in our room made the occasion feel extra special. Thank you for acknowledging and celebrating with us!

It’s like a secluded getaway that just appears behind a min descript door. Local shopping and entertainment is nearby, but you have to walk a few blocks of empty to get to it. But once you’re in the Union there isn’t a lot of reason to leave. Friendly staff, open design, and onsite restaurant and bar. Rooms are really clean. The food at the restaurant was really awesome and the service excellent.

A nice hotel, great location, good restaurant, friendly and helpful staff. Kiki the alpaca was a real treat! Only downside is the noise - could hear everything going on outside and in adjacent rooms. Hotel could benefit by posting “quiet hours” at least to contain the noise from those staying at the hotel

Great location attractive property, good wi-fi, excellent breakfast, good service from housekeepers - too much smoking in the courtyard, smelled in our room, didn't pick us up at airport but did reimburse us for taxi, horrible TV options, shower door leaked - all in all good stay but needs some work.
