My double bed room was medium size and clean. It had a mini fridge, TV. Breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, cooked meat, cold cut sliced meats, sliced cheese, cereal, milk, juice, rolls, fruit, toast, pound cake, coffee and tea.

The hotel was located in the central tourist district which was walkable to Avenida del Sol, San Pedro Public Market, Plaza de Armas, etc. There was daily breakfast with options for fresh omelettes and pancakes. The staff spoke English well and were quite helpful. The only downside is the room assigned to us was quite small for 2 medium sized adults who arrived with hand carried luggage only. We had to arrange the luggages in a way to make more space to move about.

We were very happy with our stay here. We stayed 2 separate nights here. There was an initial confusion with the booking. It was hotels.com or Expedia fault. They didn’t send them that we would be 3 people even though we had specified it in our reservation. Hotels.com customer service was horrible and useless but Tierra Viva staff was very nice about it and didn’t charge us anything extra. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. We were on the upper floors on both occasions. The staff helped carry our luggage to the rooms and also bring them down at checkout. We left 2 pieces of luggage during our first stay. When we returned they had put the luggage in our room already. Location of the hotel is very central and close to the main square. Area was lively and felt very safe. Breakfast had good selection and the staff helped us get some hot milk for our son. Overall apply with our stay and would be glad to come back.

But we could hear the kitchen staff early morning preparing for breakfast as well as loud club music late into the evening even with windows closed. Basically in city center. If you have a room along the streets it’s super loud. The WiFi wasn’t working my first night and they couldn’t change rooms the first night, so it was a huge waste for me as I could not do my work. The hotel front desk rep even had to come to the room to check for himself which I felt was a major distrust and it made me feel very uncomfortable. Secondly, on check in day my friend and I were so thirsty and we grabbed water to purchase, we gave soles and got change back. When receiving the change back I felt like something was wrong and I questioned the lady and she said it’s change for the 50 soles I gave. Well she apparently gave us too much back. A few hours later the same guy says a mistake was done and more money was given. This was correct, however I questioned the initial lady who said nothing was wrong, so I went back and gave money back to the front desk. The whole situation felt icky to me. Also the free breakfast, the service was horrible. I had to order something 3 times before I received a basic omelette with cheese. The second day my friend wasn’t even acknowledged and she’s a paying customer of the hotel, had to take utensils from another table. The rooms are fine, just noisy if you have the street view. The hotel did move me into another room due the wifi not working, but I’m still upset I lost a whole night of work, so I will be filing a claim. Overall I would not recommend this hotel, I would not stay here again. Stay somewhere else.

I arrived in the evening and left in the morning at 3:30 going to Machu Picchu. The hotel has no elevator but the staff took my 24inch suitcase up and down. They baged breakfast bag when I left in the early morning. The room is relatively small with a queen bed, very comfortable mattress and quiet. It has a bathtub, very clean. Overall it's probably one of the mid-range hotels in Cusco.

I stayed a total of 4 nights at the Tierra Viva in Cusco. The staff especially Angel was so helpful with recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. They made arrangements for Taxi to pick me up at the airport and bring me back (taxi was $20 usd. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The location was great for walking to San Pedro Market and to plazas. For $69 a night you cannot beat it. Highly recommend a stay at Tierra Viva.
