Rooms are really nice and you can tell that it probably used to be a great place, but time has taken its toll. Restaurant now only serves breakfast, pool bar is closed indefinitely.

Nice stay. Staff are friendly, we arrived in the morning hours before check in time and they gave us our room. Room was spacious and clean. Beach towels provided. Nice pool and loungers. Breakfast is available for additional cost (didn't opt for). Good location slightly away from noise on the main road. About 15 minutes walk to the beach but loads of bars, restaurants and shops on the main road.

I absolutely loved staying at Marina! The hotel is in the main walking strip of Ao Nang, with heaps if food and shopping options around.
The staff was absolutely lovely, they helped me with some private matters and I am so grateful for it!
The room was spacious and had a little balcony which was nice.
Overall the hotel was very quiet and everyone was very respectful. Nice pool too even though I didn't use it.
I would come back!!

Hotel did not meet expectations unfortunately. I can not recommend this place in good conscience. Staff were completely uninterested and unenthusiastic in doing anything. Not sure if this is due to run down conditions. On the surface, room and hotel are tidy, but overall it is in poor condition. Requires some strong efforts to get in shape. Drywall repair, painting and air quality repairs. Place smells mouldy. Hygiene by staff is non existent. The girl serving the breakfast was continuously coughing into her hands and immediately handling food and plates. I heard a lot of people with colds and coughing. I will not be back.

I recently stayed at Mariner Express Ao Nang Krabi hotel, and my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the cleaning standards were severely lacking, with noticeable issues throughout the premises. Secondly, the hotel seemed understaffed, resulting in poor service quality. The room I was provided with was not only moldy but also emitted a persistent unpleasant odor. Overall, I am disappointed with the lack of service quality and the apparent negligence of management responsibilities. Additionally, the absence of facilities and an unappealing swimming pool further diminished the overall experience. Given these issues, I have no intention of returning, and I would caution against choosing this hotel for a long stay. It appears to cater more to short-term backpackers than those seeking a comfortable and enjoyable extended stay.

Great stay at Marina Express

We stayed 7 nights in a one bedroom villa. The setting was great. Each villa is set in its own ground and there is a sense of privacy coupled with amazing grounds. The room was cleaned promptly (often when were at breakfast). The breakfast is good - a nice setting with great choice. The swimming pool is one of the best we’ve experienced. You could lounge in it all day. It is at the top of the hill about 1km from the beach but a nice walk there and back and there is a twice daily shuttle service to the beach. It is near the mosque which is magnificent when lit at night time. Lots of restaurants and juice bars nearby.

Excellent Value:

Villa was very clean and large. All fittings good quality, could be 5 star. Two tvs and 2 fridges. 1 Safe.

Steep climb to some villas, 80m with 3 sets of steps.

About 8 or 9 villas in total, set in gardens. Also gym in gardens. Hotel grounds surrounded by fence so feels very safe.

Reception staff very helpful and spoke good English. Restaurant staff very basic English.

Staff carried bags for us. On leaving one member of staff ran up hill to help with bags.

Couldn't hear morning call to prayer from mosque in room. Room very quite, no road or noise from other guests.

In evening on our large terrace could hear call to prayer- very atmospheric.

King sized beds, very comfy.

Beach towels (and bath towels) changed daily. Fridges stocked daily with 4 bottles water, 2 cokes, 2 orange juices and 2 peanuts.

Large terrace, view of gardens, cliffs and next door hotel.

10m square quite shallow pool - lovely, had it to ourselves lot of the time in August.

Restaurant slightly basic (not as good quality as villa). Extensive breakfast, with fresh cooked omelettes, eggs. Also Thai dishes, fruit and numerous pastries (no bacon).

Tuk tuk to beach was £2.50. Actually tuk tuk to anywhere in Ao nang was 2.50.

No uber in Thailand, used GRAB instead.

cleanliness was very poor. our bin were not cleared out and towels were not replaced. breakfast spread wast great as it was limited. before my stay i have email them for special requests (airport transfer arrangement, as stated they are able to coordinate for us) but my emails werent answered. when i arrive they simple said “ our email isnt working, we do not have the password” their hotel room was alright but do not have basic needs like toothbrush/cotton buds etc

The property is very clean and the room is very spacious with the price they charge. I love how minimalistic it is. The breakfast is great too! However, they do not provide simple toiletries like cotton bud , facial tissues and toothbrush - for this simple necessities, I'm pretty disappointed. Overall, it is okay.

The staff was not friendly and approachable. Despite our villa being at the top, there were no one to help us with our luggage and we have to drag ourselves as we walked up the “hill”. When we entered, aircon in one of the room was leaking and it took them very long to come fix it. We waited for too long and decided to leave the villa. We were very sure that the door which leads to the balcony was closed when we left but when we returned to the villa at night it was wide open. Good thing was that nothing was lost. The toilet door was faulty as well.

On the second day, before returning to the villa after a long day, we approached the staff to ask some questions and their reply sounded annoyed. When we reached back to the villa, the air con was not working so we called them to check and they mentioned that “the electricity is down, so the aircon not working” but the lights and fridge were working fine fyi. The thing is when we approached, they did not have the courtesy to inform us that the aircon is down until we call them. Service is zero. Will not choose this again.

Good value for.your money. Excellent breakfast selection....located 500 meters from the beach. Downside.....located next to a Muslim temple....prayers throughout day really annoying as they are sent through loud speaker that woke me up several times at 4 AM. Front desk staff constantly on their personal cell phones ignoring clients of the hotel. My room had a chronic air conditioner leak (from ceiling stains and falling apart) Pool area .is quite basic.
Good for a budget stay.

Hotel was placed on a hill and off the main road which was ideal, however not ideal if you have any issues with steps. Upon arrival to our room the internet was not working, our TV was not tuned and we had no hot water or pressure when we went for a shower. First morning using the small gym, the air conditioner was not working. The setting is lovely, although has an air of ‘it will do’ as opposed to having attention to detail, under the bed was filthy as an example. We would suggest that you dont have laundry done at the hotel, we paid around 500 baht for one load, the paperwork indicated that we would have it back before 10am the next day, at 2pm the next day we asked where it was and the external company was blamed. The manager seemed to have little empathy and it was the younger staff who were apologetic and organised to find our laundry within the hour. On another day, the water was turned off for a few hours in the middle of the day. The setting is quite beautiful although if you are looking for a relaxing stay, you may not find it here.

boutique hotel - fisherman theme as the name says it.safe location. Stepping out are the shops and eateries. Yaya stall down at the slope of this hotel was cheap and good. Thb 50 for fried noodles ... omelette at thb 50. Stayed in villa one. Villa was clean and spacious. Was not super luxurious but the space and cleanliness made up for it. Prayer calls from mosque next to it. Reception upon check in was not the most friendly. Pool was nice . Taxi transfer from the hotel thb 600. This seemed to be the fixed price. Wifi in room did not work but using the wifi password from the lobby was fine. My room was near enough to be able to tap into the lobby’s wifi.

Had a pleasant stay. Room made up and cleaned daily.
Good food easily available nearby. Lots of halal food for Muslim visitors.
The beach is not too far away. You can take a stroll down to the beach and have a look around at the same time.
Hotel has no lift, so older travellers or those with difficulty climbing, do take note you need to climb the slope and the stairs up to your rooms each time you're headed back from your excursions.

We arrived early and staff were able to get our 2 rooms ready for us by 11 am. My kids enjoyed the room service and pricing was equivalent to what we would pay outside. Food came very quickly after we ordered and quality was clean and good.
Coffee, coke, water, juice and peanuts were replenished daily and FOC for each room, and this was a pleasant and welcome surprise.
The hotel is located on a slight slope and you need to climb stairs to get to your rooms, so this is not very friendly if you are travelling with old folks or very young children.
Standard of English spoken by staff is halting so patience needed.
The hotel is located about 1km from the beach so be prepared to walk or take a taxi.

Overall I enjoyed my stay. I would give it 4 stars because of the friendly staff who speak great English and are very helpful as well as the nice location with restaurants and bars near and the beach 1km away or .7 of a mile. However, this is a 3-3.5 star hotel. Nothing fancy, but good value for the money and a nice place to stay if you’re looking to enjoy the beach and activites and no spend time and the hotel and pool all day. I recommend the tour agent across the stree for a Phi Phi Island tour and many others. If you walk 1km to Ao Nang beach you can also buy a ticket to Railay beach for only 100 baht which I also highly recommend. This hotel is up a big hill/driveway so if you are handicapped, very old or have trouble walking just be aware you will absolutely need a tax every time to get you up to the front desk and rooms. Other than that it’s a nice experience and hard to beat the value of what you get for the price you pay for a room here.

Marina Express is a lovely properties near the Ao Nang Beach. It took around 10-15 minutes to walking from hotel to the beach, not so far away. Beside hotel there were a lot of restaurants and convenience store, also tourism information where we can buy package for day tour or airport shuttle.
The condition of the room was okay, only the air con is a little troubled but it solved with the help of hotel engineering team.

Overall the stay was pretty good. The first day, we were unable to check into our Villa because they said they were unable to make clean it due to earlier heavy rains. It seemed liked they may have just overbooked the Villas and didn't want to admit it. They were able to put us in a less appealing room in the main building for the night however. The next day we were able to move into the Villa. The hike up to the room is not easy at all so just like previous reviews have stated, if you're older and\order in bad shape, you might struggle. But it IS a beautiful little place, and I wouldn't mind staying there again even with the negatives. Breakfast was good, staff was very helpful and kind, and the overall vibe was great.

Pretty good, nice room, clean, amazing view from the room I had. The area was pretty good too, felt slightly less touristy and good access to food around the area.

The downside to the nice view is I was facing the street which is very noisy from motor bikes all night. I did have to sleep with ear plugs.

Also the shower wasn’t warm, not cold but definitely not warm. Can hardly complain about that as this is thailand but I have stayed plenty of places that did have hot water.

Staff was nice, I overall enjoyed my stay and didn’t care about those issues enough to raise an issue with the staff. Just bringing them up as you may care about that.

A nice affordable hotel right off a main tourist street. Lots to do and close to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, air-conditioned, and quite a decent breakfast buffet. Pool is better suited to dipping than swimming laps but it's nice and it includes a jacuzzi area.

It's a cheated trip

Don't know where to start!! Not enough space to write our unpleasant experience. Both Expedia and Resort are not in collaboration therefore as customer we suffer their coordination problems. We were in the middle listebing to their cover ups and lies. It's supposed to be our break from our daily working life but turned out to be miserable. The resort is run down and no proper maintenance. Expedia should visit their counterpart. We did not get anything as purchased.. even problem with insurance.. Expedia should be in control. A very bad experience that caused my relationship a lot more problems. That's all I want to share!!!!

Helpful staff and Enjoyable Stay

My son had a fall and had to be taken to the clinic. Miss Ying was very helpful and arranged a car to send us to the clinic. She even took the trouble to come with us and waited for us till everything is settled. She helped us to arrange for the local agent to pick us up at a later time and volunteered to send my son back to the hotel. Miss Ying took the trouble to buy food for my son and I was so over whelmed that she was very concerned about my son and she really looks after my son very well. She is an extra ordinary person and i wish her success in her career and may god bless her and her family. Thank you once again Ying and we will definitely come back to Marina Express.

Nice hotel, 15 mins walk from the beach

I had asked the receptionist about the bus pickup point (to Airport)as it was raining and we had to wait at the correct side of the road. She didn't pay much attention as she was busy getting a guest check-in. These things leave a mark in your memory. There was a splint under my foot and had asked for a first aid box and the male receptionist just told me to go to a pharmacy! They should at least have a first aid box in case of such small emergencies. Otherwise, the rooms are nice and clean and the decoration attunes to the beach theme. They have a Jacuzzi in the swimming pool which is also a nice touch.

is a very nice hotel close to the street, basically, you step out of the hotel you able to find food, massage, convenience store and tuk-tuk.
their staff are also helpful and kind

ive noticed that the bed sheets wasnt change through out my 5 day stay as there was a small stain on the same stop on the bedsheet.. the aircon takes awhile to get cooled down. the mosque next door wanst really a ideal stop for a hotel as their morning prayers woke me up. other than that the room is pretty nice

Next to a mosque so you might need ear plugs during the early hours. Otherwise the location is excellent, close to many food and shopping places. Rooms are clean, nice pool, friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay.

Clean, modern and value for money

Great little hotel, modern and bright with a Pier 39 feel to it with coastal decor. It's a 10mins walk to the beach but shops, bars etc are on the door step. My only critique is the breakfast was cold (I don't think the heat plates were on and was uncovered, told staff but no resolve) and although not overly loud, the mosque 50yards away will awaken most light sleepers

Great Location, nice & clean rooms

We stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days. Overall experience was pleasing, almost as much satisfied to give 5 star rating; However, the receptionist / room service disappointed us. Hence, a star less.

Pros :
1. Absolutely clean and well kept rooms.
2. Very comfortable bed - not too hard, not too soft. Just perfect.
3. Perfect ambience to match the hotel name. Fishes, boats, everywhere.
4. Great location. Everything is nearby. Way many restaurants serving Thai, Indian, Malay, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern are at stone's throw. A McDonald's is also at 5 minute's walk. Many massage parlours, pharmacies, 7-eleven shops are nearby.
5. One can book a shuttle bus from airport for mere THB150 per person and tell the bus driver to drop at Marina Express. He'll drop you without missing it.
6. Clean swimming pool, scenic surrounding for great photography in anf around the hotel.
7. Cliff view rooms are recommended to experience that perfectly scenic morning.

Cons :
1. Unreasonable rules of the hotel -
e.g. Only 1 litre water will be provided per day (which is fine), but no water will be provided on the day of check out ! ! !
Water bottles will be provided only at the time when house keeping does its job.
2. Somewhat rude, non-customer-friendly receptionist. They say 'No' to almost every request you make.
3. No vegetarian food available in the attached restaurant. But that's not a deal breaker as many other restaurants are available nearby.

A pleasant stay

Lots of happening shops around the hotel. Remember to try Ao Nang Boat Noodle opposite the hotel.

They entice the guest by replenishing the mini fridge everyday and everything in the mini fridge is free (packet orange juice, a can of coke, a small pack of peanut, and two small bottles of mineral water). The room is nicely decorated and clean. The staff on the other hand are not the friendliest though. I have observed that the treatment they give to asians and non-asians are different. They are somehow friendlier and more enthusiastic in serving the non-asians. Anyway, not much contacts with the staffs after check-ins and after few enquiries.

Overall the hotel (except the staffs) deserves a good rating.

Hotel with a nice cliff view

I was totally dissapointed with my stay here. Room was not fantastic (no toothbrushes n all provided) and no lift service, so literally climbing up and down all the time. Hotel staffs are not helpful at all when queries were raised about other facilities in the hotel. Not too near the beach too. I will strongly not reccomend and will not take this hotel again!

Not bad not excellent but Okay

Our room was left open or something when we checked in because I had a cicada fly into my face. I know they are harmless but it was still very scary as I am terrified of insects. The hotel itself was fine and very close to lots of places to eat at. There is a muslim mosque very close to us so you will hear their prayers often during your stay.. 5am was probably the one that sucked because its so loud it wakes you up.. there's a couple evening prayers too so you have been warned. Otherwise a little hike to get down to the beach.. it is walkable but not like right next door neither. My friend and I don't mind walking so we walked. Plenty of 7-elevens to get things you need and a convenient pharmacy right out front in case you need something. Overall the hotel was fine.. I don't know if I would stay there again though~

Hotel in a lovely setting

Marina Express - Fisherman is set back from the main street of Ao Nang and surrounded by lush green palm trees. The view from the pool is lovely and very peaceful. Yes, there is sometimes the interruption of the Mosque, but after a few days you hardly noticed, and in some respects, was very soothing ! With regard to the rooms, we were originally in Villa 5. Word of warning, this up at the top of quite a steep hill, and not something you want to do a couple of times a day in 35oC heat ! However, we did get moved to Villa 10, which was further down the hill. This room was lovely, although it could have done with a lick of paint here and there. There also could have done with some outside furniture to make the most of the patio area and the beautiful scenery. The hotel reception was also at the top of a hill from the main road. We didn't eat at the hotel, other than snacks around the pool, but what food we did have was delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We asked to borrow an iron/iron board, which was brought to the room within 5 mins. However, they must only have 1 iron, as another guest wanted to use the iron and we had to call reception when we had finished with it. Umbrellas and Flip Flops were available in the room. As we stayed in one of the Villas, we had a complimentary mini-bar, which was stocked daily with water, orange juice, nuts and coke - which was a nice touch. Overall I would recommend this hotel

Quite good in general for the price we paid, but a pity for the receptionists not helpful and basically laughing at us when we said that breakfast was included while they wanted to charge extra and in spite of us showing the reservation that clearly stated \"free breakfast\"

lovely villas

we stayed in one of the villas which was a good choice the villa was very spacious comfy and clean our villa had a view of the pool from the patio
breakfast was good a good variety of choice
there are many restaurants right out side the hotel grounds all the way down to the beach
we visited krabi straight from phucket so this was an ideal place to catch up on sleep as the hotel is in a quiet location

Very nice hotel on main road

Nice hotel nestled within palm trees facing Cliff along main road of city. 15 minute walk to the beach. Main road has many restaurants, bars, massage, souvenir shops.
The hotel itself is very clean and staff very friendly people. My only criticism is the water pressure can sometimes decrease at times, but is not much of an issue.

Nice clean hotel

Room is clean and comfortable, however did not manage to clean our room why we were back round 1500 on day 2. Was also asked to return the laundry bag we used to put our soiled clothes. Just to highlight there is no lift...have to take note when traveling with older folks.

Great staff. Great Private Villa. Love the cute room, but the walk to the room is like climbing a mountain. Hotel management buy a golf cart to bring guest to there room. It will pay off in the long run. Great hotel except for the hike to the room. Will return, only if in the lower villas.
