NO SECOND VISIT

Checked in Premier room with bath tub and a small kitchen.
Very old hotel and old interior design in room, no maintenance. Floor in room has many stains and dirt.
Very limited TV channels .
Very strong Aroma / scent when stepped in the room which was unpleasant for us.
There are stains on shower towels and called for replacement but need to wait at least 20mins. When passed the dirty towels to the hotel staff (indian), he got no response even an apologise after showing him the stains. Unaccepted that one ot the replacement towel has stain also and i immediately request for a new one again!
Ok fine it was only one night stay, that’s more than enough

TERRIBLE. NO SECOND VISIT

Very strong Aroma / scent when stepped in the room which was unpleasant for us.

For a 1 bedroom unit, with living room and kitchenette, price was relatively cheap. Bathtub was ok too. But the bed and pillows were not great. Place a bit old. Aircon in the living room was not working. Good enough to just stay for the night.

Not valued for money , read before you stay

Went to the hotel for our anniversary stay and check with the hotel management if there was any hotel upgrade available after checking they say that we will need to pay extra $30sgd just for the upgrade.

During check in, we shown them that we already paid for the room via Hotel.com app. However they insist for more than 3 times that we did not paid for the room and even though we show them the app and receipt, their system show none until one of them check 'properly' and say payment is done. No apologies was given by them and they just continue as per normal.

The room TV was spoilt and they change the whole wall TV for us and yet the new TV couldn't change any channel so end up not using the TV.

The bathroom was a little dirty and murky in color, there was no air circulation vent in the toilet so the air smells stale.

Parking was free and there was a guard sitting near the entry/exit so parking near the guard is quite safe.

Location is near to various amenities like family mart and 7-11.

Breakfast was okay but not much selection. Overall, not that value for my money.

The room toilet was dirty, the shower head wasn’t working,the drainage system wasn’t very good as the water during shower flow down the drain very slow. Sprayer at the toilet also spoilt. As is was just a night stay, so i cant be bother to complain or ask them to change.

Eerie Walkway, Terrible Room Facilities

A very rundown hotel I can said. I checked out, after 15 mins I have checked in. Only the lobby is decorated with quite classy design. While the rest, the nightmare started when we reached our hotel's room level. The whole walkway is freaking dark with only one light I guess. So eerie like you are in those haunted movie scene. When we entered the hotel room, our jaws near dropped on the floor. Dusty floor with black stain everywhere, same goes to the toilet. I just wonder did housekeeping really clean the room properly. Poor TV reception showed only a white snow dots with few channels available. Jesus christ. Please at least make over your hotel rooms to make it more approchable and matched with the price offered. BTW, its just my 2 cents of opinion.

On arrival at 3.20pm the room wasn't ready. It was suggested we take another room {inferior to my booking} which I refused. So we got into our room around 3.45pm. The safe wasn't working and was not repaired whilst we were there. One lift was out of order. I suppose that was unfortunate.That left only 2 operating which caused long waits at times, especially Breakfast when everyone is trying to go to the same floor.

Family trip for 2-deluxe room. One of the toilet was having unpleasant urine smell that make us decide to change and upgrade to Family Suite. There is only 2-lift serving the entire hotel room and it takes longer waiting time for the lift. Overall the stay is acceptable.

No worth the moneyand not as per advertised.

Check in was slow, water pressure was very low and no hot water, so couldn't shower, only 2 lifts for a 23 storey building...very very slow service. Roof top bistro and swimming pool... no guests there in the evening, looks deserted. Breakfast buffet was just passable for taste and varieties. We checked into a 2 room family suite..luckily for a night and early the next day we checked out to another hotel instead of adding another night. We didnt get a partial sea view room as per our booking, even though we paid in advance. We will never stay in this hotel again or recommend to our friends. The staff were friendly but what can they do if the facilities provided are insufficient. For the price we paid, we would be better off to get 2 separate rooms at a 4 star hotel or pay a little more for 5 star hotel, all this just because we wanted a family suite... what ripped off!!!

Staff was friendly and helpful. But the room was in generally bad shape. my room's walls were defaced by some kid and his artwork could still be visible after he has long checked out. The algorithm for the lifts need to be improved. crowds will be stuck at lvl 3 where the restaurant is after breakfast. If you want a basic hote which you only return to to sleepl this suits the bill. but if you want a great experience then this may not be the one for you.

Location is great.. Walking distance to Dataran Pahlawan and Jonker area.. Premier Suite Room was spacious and comfortable.. Do test the taps in the kitchenette and toilet as the first room we got the rain shower was not working.. Lifts are slow and small.. Not good when you have a 23 floor Hotel Tower with high occupancy.. Breakfast was basic and normal.. Rooftop pool was nice and had great views..

First room given on the 16th floor upon checkin had a bad musky and urine smell. Was changed to another room.
The in-safe in the second room on the 10th floor was faulty, someone tried to get it to work but it it did not work again after a while. Asked for it to be checked while we were out, I guess no one did so it was unusable the rest of the stay in that room. Had to bring our valuables with us every time we went out. This room was the cleanest and most well maintained.
Asked to extend one additional day, this required another change of room this time to the 12th floor. Room less well maintenance but at least the in-room safe was working.
Fox movie channel in the 2 rooms we stayed was unwatchable picture was very fuzzy. Was eventually told it’s “Server Fault” nothing done. Oddly, rest of the channels were clear.
Overall a pleasant hotel to stay, better than average for its rating. Staff were all approachable, helpful and friendly.

Short and Sweet.

Adequate hotel to stay in for a short weekend trip. Would not say it’s the best but it’s certainly a good stay. A point on cleanliness of the toilet has to be made. You can see that it was cleaned with very minimal effort. If you’re observant, it will definitely gross you out. Also a note for the hotel: what’s the point of having a re-use/replace towels program if you’re not going to stick to it? All my towels were replaced even though they were hanged, not complaining just curious.

Overall a short and sweet stay.

Poor Management. We were waiting at lobby more than half an hour for their staff do the room cleaning. ( we were reached hotel ard 530pm). The end the staff change another room for us but same floor. We saw the 3 cleaner play phone at the corridor. And the lift damn slow. :(

The lifts were slow and run down, the aisle along the rooms was badly lighted and had no air conditioning. Room toilet was not very well lighted as well, the first room we stayed had poor ac at night and we waited bout an hour for the technician, which never came and we were offered to change room instead. The pool however, was clean and sufficient.

Good Choice for Malacca Trip

It's one of my favourite hotels when I travel to Malacca because of it's location.
The room is spacious and comfortable.
The staff are friendly and responsive to requests made.
Cleanliness can be improved as especially in toilet and balcony areas.
Enjoy relaxing moment in the swimming and good shopping and food nearby the hotel.
I will highly recommend The Straits Hotel & Suits.

I booked a normal room but the reception upgraded me to a suite with fantastic view. Was staying in room 2017 but sadly the room in the Aircon was blowing room temperature air instead of Aircon. So I open up the bedroom door and use the living room Aircon instead. Overall location is great, lots of local foods around. Going back in Dec and have booked them again. Hopefully get a upgrade of room for my 1st anniversary <3

However, housekeeping can improve. Run out toilet rolls and request additional blanket and pillows never appear till next day, request to front desk.

Hotel room maintainence need upgrade. Espcially the noisy aircon.

Front desk staffs and pool side cafe staffs are efficient and polite.

Booked the premier suite with bathtub, amazingly it was spacious and clean. Nice and friendly receptionist ready to serve you! 10minutes on foot to to its main tourist attractions. Around its vicinity, there are a couple of local coffeeshops such as EE Ji Ban - for chicken rice balls and yummilicious Asam Pedas and other Indian coffeeshop for late night chilaxing - roti canal, tea tarik etc There's also Starbucks, 7-eleven located around the corner, where you can find other nice air-conditioned eateries! Worth to mention is the SGT Food for your egg tarts fix!

A pleasant short stay. Wasn't expecting that it will be an excellent choice of accommodation.
Downfall is, i left my handphone charger at the room upon check out and only realised it halfway home. Called the hotel to have it delivered to me, but their courier charges (+ service) is ridiculously expensive! I thought they will only charge me the standard charges but RM35 to courier from Melaka to Shah Alam is hefty!

AVOID THIS HOTEL. everything is falsely advertised or they will lie to your face.
1. Receptionist Rika lied about free breakfast. Although i didnt book the room with breakfast, i was happy to know that there was breakfast provided during check in and i cancelled my breakfast plans. The counter lady casually slipped in that breakfast will be charges to your room.
2. i was at the pool to swim with my kids. BTW, this hotel has no kids pool. i ordered a bucket of beer at RM66 happy hour price. i asked the waiter if i could drink one bottle at the pool and the rest delivered to my room. They brought it up after 20mins and presented me a bill at room service price. i ask them why isnt it happy hour price and why not mention price to me when i instructed to deliver to my room. The waiter came my room 3 times with 3bills. first with a bucket of beer at room service price, second is a single bottle of beer at room service price and finally a bill for a single bottle of beer at happy hour price. i returned the balance 4 bottles of beer.
3. i booked a 2 bedroom family room. instead i got 2 adjoining rooms. both rooms have kitchen area. but i was suprice there isnt any utensils at all. not even a single spoon. why have a kitchen area?
4. shower area in the bath room floods as its not design to flow to the water outlet. so u'll be stepping ontu a puddle of water evertime u shower. lights in the room are so dim.
5. lifts under maintainace during school holiday season. imagine waiting

Hotel not up to expectations. Breakfast was lousy with little choice. Service in breakfast was super slow. Ordered half boiled egg waited for more than 20 minutes still not served finally have to give up. Air-conditioned in room was horrible. Adjusted to 17deg but only warm air came out hardly any air conditioning. Worst of all the hallway from lift to room was not air-conditioned. It was so hot n stuffy when u walk out of the lift to get to your room.

It was a last minute booking for our wedding anniversary. They gave us high floor with ocean view. Unfortunately the housekeeper didnt do a good job in cleaning the room. Plus there was ciggerate smells all over the room. When we complaint to the frontdesk, the chinese girl was giving us her "mengeluh" sound. Luckly they'd upgraded our room. Overall, the experience couldnt have been better. I know this much because im a regular there.

The housekeeping staff could not understand English. Instead of an extra set of toiletries, we were 3 persons, we were given 4 bottles of the same shampoo. We had to remind them of our needs for shower gel 4 times and 2 hours later before the gel arrived at midnight.
The breakfast cooking staff was not present at their respective stations during breakfast time.
All in all, it was a disappointment compared to our 3 previous stays at the same. Will return to Hatten or Malacca Heritage hotels for my next visit.

Air-conditioning need to be maintennance.

The air-conditioning from the lift lobby to room is non-existence through out my stay.
And the room air-condition is not cold even though it was set to 17 deg and at full fan.

A comfortable enough stay

This is not my first time stay at Straits Hotel & Suites. Room is comfortable but over the years I guess things get worn out. The staff, especially those servicing the rooms should bring up to management's attention to get things fixed. I had a room with a door that is so stiff that I had to give hard push to open as I believe door hinge may have dropped. There is only one bathroom light, and it is too dim, difficult for me to put on my make-up. The towel I had acts as a good back scrub not soft to dry one's body and also had frayed edges. Such towels should be discarded and not put into guests rooms. Since I am only back to room to sleep and out the whole day I didn't bother to bring these small issues up at the reception. Hope management look into rectifying these faults as I will return for my next stay and hope to have the full comfort I had during my previous stays.
