We loved the privacy of our bungalow. It really felt like we were alone. The staff went out of their way to make sure that those with children were grouped together. So that everyone could have a good time. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The property was beautiful and the snorkeling was exceptional.

We went with our 6 and 9 year old kids for a week and it was the perfect vacation. The water around the resort is so calm and beautiful. It makes snorkeling and other water activities very easy to do with kids. The excursions are well priced and the food was very good. My kids loved taking the fish we got on our hand line fishing trip to the chef to prepare for lunch. My kids also enjoyed the kids center as they met new friends and had great activities. All of the staff members were so friendly and kind. Being from the US, I expected it to be like Hawaii but I’d say the water was more calm, it was more private, and less commercialized. The only thing I would say it’s lacking is We would definitely come here again.

This was our 5th trip to Fiji and first to Castaway. And found our experience at Castaway very disappointing. Upon arrival we spoke to reception & the restaurant regarding Breakfast options for 2 adults and 2 children. We were advised the non refundable prepaid breakfast package was the best option. However upon receiving our bill we had been additionally charged breakfast everyday at a cheaper rate they wouldn't honour.

My daughter picked up a gastro bug and passed that to 3 out of the 4 of us. I had a massage booked for our last day (which I even confirmed 2 hours prior) however when I arrived at the spa with my receipt from reception the booking didn't exist. Extremely disappointing experience for what we paid and due to this we won't go back.

Absolutely loved Castaway and we’ve all declared it was our best family holiday. From the beautiful traditional welcome on the beach, the bure which was perfect for our family of five, to the food, the idyllic beach and mostly the staff - they make a point of knowing your names and getting to know you. I cried saying goodbye! Our 8 yr old loved the kids club and our 11 and 13 year olds took full advantage of the water sports, and fishing trips.
We will definitely be back!

We had the best time at Castaway. The people who work there are genuinely such lovely people who brought so much fun and joy to every experience. It’s a small property and that enables the ability to either lean into the community vibe or just have a quiet and relaxed holiday. My kids (8&12) were never lonely or bored with all the water sports and activities. We had a south beach bura which was lovely and right on the beach giving a beautiful place to sit for the stunning sunsets. Highly recommend!!

This is the only hotel on an island about 1 1/2 hr ferry ride from the mainland. Snorkeling is on site; the rooms are beautiful. The staff is super friendly. Nanny service is affordable and a big plus. A few things that were not perfect: kids club is small, the south bures face heavy wind during their winter time; the food is OK and could get a bit tiring for longer stay. But overall it was as close to perfect as it could get for a tropical vacation

Amazing family holiday - I don’t see us ever staying anywhere else in Fiji. The staff say from when they meet you on the boat that you are now family and they truly mean it, by the time we’d been there 24 hours, all the staff knew our kids names and you never passed anyone without a smile and a “Bula”. Great food, buffet a little overpriced but expected on an island. Fantastic kids club, we thought our kids might go once or twice but they begged to go everyday. Lolli, Mickey, Repunzel & Cinderella (their kids club names) were fast friends. The whole place is set up so kid friendly but with parents firmly in mind. Great snorkelling right off the beach, the pools are great (but a bit cold given it is technically winter!). A perfect week spent in the best part of Fiji, we can’t wait to come back.

No words good enough to describe our week!!! Other than Beyond Perfect!! Remember it is a FAMILY resort, so there are kids! But rarely were they a problem, and that problem was a parent problem!!! Staff was unbelievable, and we immediately fell in love with all of them! Only, and I mean only!, issue was breakfast. We don’t usually eat a large breakfast, and you really have a single option, which is a buffet! Only problem with our trip, is that I didn’t plan on having “watery eyes” on our leaving, and we are already trying to plan a return trip to see our friends and family at Castaway Island!

We have stayed multiple times at Castaway and this was by far the most disappointing. The staff were lovely as always, however the dining options were extremely disappointing.
Being forced on some nights to have the buffet when all we wanted was a single dish each meant that dining was very expensive for a family of four. The resort also feels very dated now
We now are in 2 minds as to whether we would come back.

This was our first time at Castaway Island Resort. It is beautiful place. The staff are outstanding. We enjoyed the waterfront activities and we were grateful for Paul’s help. It was just my wife and me there. We enjoyed running into the kids club on occasion.

The Wednesday evening Fiji night was lots of fun. We loved the staff dancing and singing. We loved the singing as we arrived and were leaving. Thank you for a very memorable 3 nights!

Dining at the resort was a delight thanks to Agi and Bubu at the restaurant, whose heart warming smiles, happy attitude and wonderful baby entertaining skills are to be commended, on top of serving delectable meals and catering to our vegetarian diet with creativity and finesse. The talented chefs deserve special mention for their dedication in crafting flavorful vegetarian dishes that delighted our taste buds every day.

The snorkelling was incredible. A trigger fish bit us. They should post a warning of what they look like and to avoid them.
Again,the snorkelling is beautiful! We had a glimps of a shark.
Live music at meals was beautiful.
We talked to families and the kids club was very popular.
$10 for tea or coffee at meals but free in the room. Water was filtered and clean. Safe to drink.
Very good buffet. The restaurants are not as advertised. One is just a different seating area from the rest and it’s too windy to use.
All drinks were extremely expensive. Only unfriendly staff was the man at pool bar.
Being sang to on and off the island was fun and memorable.
Definitely want to go back.
It’s paradise.
The small round shells are very unique.
There were no mosquitoes but as we pulled of we seen them spray a huge fog over everything. This seemed unhealthy. I wonder if they wash everything enough after this.

Our time on castaway was the most amazing experience and we didn't want to leave. The island is beautiful, there are lots of activities to keep you entertained if you wish or you can relax and soak up the sun and the wonderful hospitality. All the staff were helpful, kind and attentive. The entertainment at nights was varied and engaging. Imani and Rabbit's signing was always welcome, with a great range of songs and always smiling. I had an amazing massage that I can highly recommend. Our bure was clean and very comfortable, with daily maintenance and its location on the beach was perfect. Anyone looking for an island holiday should consider castaway island. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Amazing sunsets, adventure walks, snorkeling, water sports, tennis and what looked like a great kids club (we didn't use this as we don't have small children).

Castaway is a very special place. The people, location and resort are simply wonderful.
Nothing is too hard and their ability to cater to dietary requirements was exemplary.
Whether you want to do nothing but relax or fill your days with snorkelling, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, tennis, diving or fishing it’s all available.

A wonderful experience. So staff is so welcoming and accommodating. The food is very good and there is a lot of variety. It’s the perfect place for families. We were impressed with the kid’s club which provides activities up to 10 PM. Usually our kids don’t want to go, but here it’s more like camp at this hotel. All the kids go and the activities are fun and engaging. They made new friends and did things like camp fire dance party on the beach for the older kids. The snorkeling is right off shore and you can kayak, sail and snorkel right from the beach. We had a beach bure and the kids could wake up and play in the sand and swim right out our door. We will definitely be back and next time bring a bunch of friends.

Warm, kind and extremely hospitable staff. Always friendly and willing to go above and beyond to meet our needs. The bure's are stunning and better than the photos. Location is very nice, lots to see on and off the island. We visited during the rainy season and didn't get too many wet days. Our children had so much fun and made lots of friends. Beautiful island, one of the nicest in the Mamanuca Group. Lpovely friendly people. Comfortable accommodation. Very relaxing. The only negative was the meals. Although very enjoyable most of the time, prices were extremely high and at times, for example, Saturday night no other option (other than pizza) was availble so you were more or less forced to attend the BBQ/Carvery which at $A60pp was way over priced . Apar5 from that it was a very enjoyable holiday.

We came back to Castaway after one horrible night at Treasure Island. Lucky Castaway had availability and could accommodate us back after a blissful 5 days before we left. We were welcomed back with open loving arms and it truly felt like we were home. Castaway is truly the best. See my previous review for a detailed review of the things we love about Castaway. We loved everything about this property. It's so clean and homely. You feel relaxed and in island mode as soon as you step off the boat. The staff are so so friendly and lovely but very professional in their jobs as well. They truly treat you like family. The facilities are beautifully maintained from the pools to the gardens. The food is fantastic. And the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. Can't say a bad thing about Castaway!

Wow, I've never seen more friendly staff. Our first waitress asked our names, then greeted my girls by name all the rest of the time she saw us about the island. The aquatics staff were extremely helpful as well, big burly guys always willing to help get a kayak in the water or kick around a rugby ball at sunset. Loved it.

This place is amazing!!! We took a boat to the island - from the beginning, it was an amazing experience. Castaway Island is paradise!

Love, love, love Castaway Island! Truly was amazing! The water is incredible and the resort is 5 Star! The burres are very clean and comfortable for a family of 4 and the food was fresh and plentiful! We took advantage of the many water sports opportunities available right from the hotel. Kayak trip around the island is a must!

Great for kids and families

We had a great experience at Castaway, location was excellent and the service solid. We came to Fiji for wedding on Viti Levu but wanted to get smaller island experience as well. Getting here was easy on South Sea Cruises and transfers to Nadi airport seamless. Our room or \"bure\" was excellent, located just off the North beach and sized well for our big family. All the villas are just off the beach, but I would recommend a villa on the north side of island and has picturesque beach. Kids Club was excellent spot for our kids with activities in 2 hour spurts and range of fun things to do, the big highlight was the dance and costume making leading up to a performance in front of whole group. Water activities like kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, and paddle boarding included and easy to do, just sign up and take equipment. We did jet skis as well which was awesome to cruise around the neighboring islands. Kids pool had great set-up with its own bar/grille that allows you to get drinks/food while watching kids. The food set-up is mostly buffett and dinner a little confusing as kids eat at 5:30 pm, adults at 6:30, so recommend getting babysitter so adults can eat in peace. We thought the 1808 Restaurant was great and recommend for adults for sit down service, the pizza bar was also good for casual break. One challenge was figuring out the food set-up and the buffet times for dinner, but once we did we got into a routine. Overall, I highly recommend Castaway for families.
