Plantation Island in Fiji is the perfect balance of fun for kids and relaxation for parents. It truly feels like a giant playground, with endless activities to keep children entertained and happy all day long. Meanwhile, parents can unwind, soak up the beautiful surroundings, and enjoy some well-earned downtime. What really makes the experience special is the staff—they are incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely amazing, going above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where the whole family can enjoy their own version of paradise. Highly recommend the hotel side and accomodation or the waterfront bures

We had a fabulous time celebrating a birthday with friends and their children. Arrived right after the Cyclone and the staff were doing an amazing job cleaning the resort up & dealing with the punters too.
We last visited 12 years ago & we were really impressed at how different the resort is now! So much more professional, new & updated apartments, marina & tonnes more food and beverage options, along with the ever smiling and friendly staff.
It is difficult to get your head around Fiji time & laid backness of the resort but we realise that is also the charm of it all!
Also a special mention to your Activities staff, the music at all of your venues all week was outstanding!
Looking forward to visiting our home again in a few years to see what you have next in store!

Great experience for the family. We have 2 kids under 9.
Perfect setup for families to have a good time. A great way to disconnect and recharge.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
We had the garden studio bure. Basic. All you need. Nothing you don't. No TV. They're starting to look a bit tired and dated. Cracked tiles etc. But perfectly livable. I'm just calling it out.
Kids eat free is great. All kids meals get deducted off the bill when you pay at checkout which is great.
Kids had a good time with kids club. They made tie dyed t-shirts which look great.
A couple of the pool areas are starting to look their age an could use a refurb. Again, just calling it out. The pool by Tavola is nice and we grabbed a Cabana each day by there.
Overall we would do it again in a couple of years.

My son’s bed sheet had someone’s make up face on it.

Black Coral restaurant was excellent. Great food.

Tavola restaurant.
Before we checked out, we decided to have breakfast.
An hour waiting for food and the waitress tells my son there is no more pancakes. Literally an hour later.
We got our food and mine was incorrect but they fixed it very fast. 1 hour 40 mins for breakfast and now we are late for check out. Our cards got locked out of our room since check out was late so we had to go explain what happen.

Seems like you get stuck on this island just to spend more money. They should have an all inclusive accommodation.
Don’t think we would go back, honestly.

The location is beautiful and the water a pleasure to swim in. Love the free of charge non motorised watersports. There was plenty to keep our teenagers occupied. The new kids club looks great! The food offerings and quality could be better. We did like the addition of the Poke bowl hut as an option.
Excited to come back after the renovations.

We stayed at Plantation Island Resort over New Year for four nights as a family of two adults and three children (aged 12, 9, and 7).
Our welcome was lovely. We booked a poolside room, and upon check-in, the air conditioning worked well and our luggage was promptly delivered. The room was clean and cosy, though the beds were extremely firm and uncomfortable. We also had an issue with ants in the room, which staff quickly addressed by spraying the room, though this was less than ideal during our stay.
The exterior verandah and poolside area were quite run down, with cracked tiles, weeds growing, and deteriorating pool coping. This did not reflect the images online.
After exploring the resort, we found better accommodation options and would recommend the Beachside Bure for a more comfortable stay.
Our children loved the inflatables, though they were positioned too far offshore for younger children. While they played, my wife and I tried to relax on the available loungers, but we found empty cocktail glasses and cigarette butts left in the side table, which was disappointing.
Dining at the Black Coral Grill was enjoyable, especially the sizzling steak. The Copra buffet was repetitive despite themed nights. Tavola Restaurant provided good breakfast and lunch, though service was slow.
Snorkeling at the underwater museum was the highlight of our stay.Overall, we enjoyed our time but would recommend booking a Beachside Bure. An all-inclusive package would also enhance the experience

The resort is beautiful and we pass there a wonderful time. The organization should be improved. Last day I made my checking and I pay al the receipts charged to my room and when I was in the ferry to go to another island they call me because the forgot some expenses. When I went to the reception they told me they can't find the receipts but I should pay anyway. I told them that I am going to loose the Ferry. They answer me, no problem you take the next one. Finally I pay the bill and I go running to the port. We pass a wonderful day's there but I leave the resort with the perception I was cheated.

Great stay here for 9 nights. With a whole extended family. The 2bedroon garden bure was perfect, quiet, set back from the ocean pool (kids). Staff were so lovely, just be aware that the rooms only have mugs and cups no other utensils or crockery. Will definitely be back

Most of the staff were lovely but the reception to check out and billing was terrible. Charged for many things not even on a bill. Took days to clear up and many expensive phone calls. Half of our family got sick -gastro - think from food. You cannot drink the water in your room. Yet, lots of great amenities for families and kids. Beautiful grounds. Lovely staff. Room was clean! Yet, Chairs, bean bags, and cabanas were filthy. Beautiful views of water.

Wonderful stay! Our 6 year old son absolutely loved kids club, which really made our holiday. We stayed in a poolside room which was just perfect. The pool near our room was big and clean and just the right depth for kids who can swim but are still learning. One end has some shard.

We spend time scuba diving and snorkelling, also great. We’d come again for the kids club.

This is a big resort, lots of families. The food was fine. Outdoor seating could be kept cleaner (lots of bird poo). But it’s really my only complaint.

Stayed for a week on Plantation Island in Jan 2025 with family. The area is HUGE which means a lot of walking depending on where your bungalow is located! Despite website offering breakfast, half and full board meals we were told breakfast only was not possible and because we do not eat much, even half board would've been overkill so we opted out. This however means you only have ONE option for breakfast with the same breakfast menu EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. This restaurant was located on the other end of the island from our room so it was a long walk with kids every morning (hiring bula bikes made this much easier). If we had known this we would've prepared to bring milk, cereal and plastic bowls/cutlery to have quick breakfast. Mini fridge does NOT include any milk and you have to walk into the mini mart in Muskat Cove Resort to buy milk.

Other things to note - free wifi in the restaurant areas was patchy/unreliable. Tap water is not drinkable and there were no water bottles in our room - had to ask and carry them from reception. There is no small light in the bathroom that can be left on overnight for the kids. The shower water pressure is weak which made washing off sand on the feet/lower legs difficult. Room however is large and spacious with a fans and a/c which worked well. The best part of Plantation is the free kids club which feature movies every night and free water sport activities. Water is clear and nice to swim in.

Overall we all enjoyed our time!

Beautiful location but food is average, service is pretty rubbish - has to wait 45mins for a coffee and had to chase 3-4 times. In fact, of 23 meals at the resort, there wasn’t one where we didn’t have to chase up the order several times. Staff don’t seem to care and things can be pretty dirty at times - vomit on the walls of the bathroom in the room we were in, communal toilets not great, etc. others seemed to love it.

Stayed here over Christmas and unfortunately struck a rainy week.
We used to stay at Plantation regularly when our kids were little and came back this time with the Grandkids.
Grandkids loved it even in the rain but we found the whole hospitality side needs a shake up.
We arrived on late ferry because of Air New Zealand was delayed.
On checking in were told even though we were unable to book a restaurant reservation we would be fed.
Yeah Right after unhappy discussions we were then sorted out by someone who overruled the young officious ones and we were told to sit in the corner and later served a half cooked pizza and cold fries.
Reluctant service which unfortunately became the way this resort was run throughout our stay.
There is still some of the real lovely,friendly Fijian staff but the strict holiday camp way the restaurants are run do not account for a relaxed holiday appeal.
Someone running this food and beverage side has forgotten about the customer and who is paying their high prices.
Obviously some of the staff do not want to be working there and it shows in their attitude.
Once back on the mainland it was nice to see the smiling faces again.
There are other resorts in the Pacific Islands who welcome our hard earned dollars.

We made a last minute change at check-in and requested a bigger room, luckily they were able to accommodate and gave us the additional space. It was so convenient to everything we needed. Food, dancing, bars, water activities, swimming and good old fashion chillin. It was a good getaway for us.
Also the themed menus at Copra were awesome too.

Our toilet overflowed a couple of days into our stay due to the septic tank being full. They emptied the tank but it took multiple calls to get someone to mop the bathroom floor so we could use the toilet again, and even then it was a terrible job cleaning it.
Tavola isn't a good restaurant. Worse than an RSL. The buffet is ok. Black Coral is good.
Highly recommend the trip to the sandbank for snorkelling if you have kids!!
Proabably wouldn't return to this resort.

Plantation Island Resort is located on the most beautiful island and so close to mainland, just a 50 minute ferry ride to get there. We love having the option of multiple pools and swimming/snorkelling in the gorgeous sea. Tavola is a great restaurant too. PIR is a tropical paradise!

Money making operation!!! TOO EXPENSIVE AND QUALITY HAS BECOME POOR, FOOD WAS NOT INCLUDED AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS AND STAFF KEEP EYE ON EVERYTHING YOU EAT, DRINK, AND TOUCH. THEY WOULD CHARGE FOR AIR WE BREATHE IF THEY COULD. Boat ride 1 Way is $300 American, BLUA BIKES RIPOFF, SOMEONE TOOK OFF WE MY 10 olds daughter bike we renter for $50 for 24hours. They charge and keep charging while quality has suffered, along with quality.
We stayed previously in 2023 and had great experience, but this time we stayed and will not spend $1700.00 for 2 day stay, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING WORTH IT. IF YOU THINKING ABOUT IT, DONT DO IT. WASTE OF GOOD MONEY and be ready to be liberated from your cash.
BTW, on our way back waiting for ferry, guy tried to explain someone stoked his wallet, but staff not having it. Him and his family sat in corner trying to make arrangements for payment.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS BEEN THERE WITH FAMILY 2 years in a row, NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Plantation Island is an absolute paradise for families with young kids or teenagers. There is so much to do 4 beautiful pools, a beautiful (yet tidal) beach and lagoon, Bula bikes, snorkeling, paddle boarding, small yachts, kayaks. Our kids are not usually ‘kids club’ kids but the little one went a couple of times with their cousins and enjoyed it. Made a very cute ty die t shirt which he wore the rest of the trip. The new cabanas around the pools are awesome! It never seems too busy. Some beautiful photo opportunities on the beach towards Lomani Resort. At High tide the beach is gorgeous around there. It’s our second trip, we stayed for a week and we will be back. I probably wouldn’t choose it for an adult only trip. There are a lot of kids which brings crying, whining, splashing etc. we did the sandbank snorkeling and dolphin safari. The snorkeling on the dolphin trip was amazing! Got to see dolphins too. We also did the sunrise Kayak. Very hard to get up at 5.30am but it was worth it. A great adventure for the kids.

Just returned from nine nights (single Dad & two kids, 11 & 5) and we all loved it. I've been to Fiji a couple of times previously but this was the first time out to an island and it was definitely worth the extra expense.

Water activities were excellent, in particular the water jungle and even the sand-bar snorkelling was good for kids. Food was pretty good, though it was difficult to get booked into anything other than the main buffet rom for evening meal, but we did go to Tavola twice.

I'd probably only do 5-nights next time and go somewhere else too, but I would definitely return here.

Unfortunately we got sick and weren’t the only ones at the time. The doctor told us not to drink the filtered water, but we think it came from either the fresh fruits/veggies, or the pools.

We had read some average reviews on plantation island so had lower expectations than our previous stay at Castaway.
We were pleasantly surprised at how great plantation was and rated it even higher than Castaway for a lot of things. The selection of great restaurants and la carte menus was fantastic. Also we were able to afford a beach bure which was amazing (the bed was only a queen though, would have preferred a king, and the set up of the room didn’t allow you to lie in your bed and look at the sea). We were right in front of the beautiful beach and turquoise water, near snorkeling spot.
For the kids (our 4 and 8 year old) there were so many fun things to play on and the kids club was great. Note kids have to be 4 for the kids club or you’ll be paying a nanny $15 Fijian an hour).
We bought a lot of our own food as don’t like to eat lots of buffet meals, there’s a fridge, but no microwave which we recommend booking before you come as it took us 3 days to get ours.
We went first week of Jan which was nice. It rained a couple of times at night, but clear days to do activities. Was a bit on the warmer side after 10am to sit outside in the hammock and read so spent afternoons in our room while kids napped.
Snorkeling at plantation wasn’t as good as Castaway but the short one hour snorkeling trips were well worth it and only $35 Fijian a trip so we did a couple.
Loved the couples massage on the beach but the let them know where you want them to focus or you’ll be disappointed.

Me and my two young boys had such a great time on the Island we could have happily stayed much longer!
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean. Felt super safe as a mum travelling alone with children. So many activities!

Would have liked more selection in the grocery/market shop. and night time entertainment could have started a littler earlier for younger children. But no complaints here - we'd love to return again one day thank you! :)

The property is a dream for kids, so much to do. The Kids Club, Playgrounds and Water Park are epic. Beautiful lagoon, and good amount of free watersports available. We were given the wrong room type on arrival, but managed to move the next day. I would recommend the Studio Ocean or Garden Bures they are quite spacious will fit up to 5 with a rollaway. Also the new Beachfront Hotel rooms are great, but not as spacious. Tavola Restaurant was our favourite!

Beach is stunning, buffet was great. Staff were amazing. Cleaning was an issue. Lots of cigarette butts, bottle caps outside our room. Sheets were never changed within our 4 night stay. Toilet was really gross and shower pressure almost none existent during peak usage time (literally ran out of the shower head in a single stream trickle). Lots of mosquitoes compared to other resorts. Overall this place is really fun for kids at a reasonable price, just a little run down.

If you ever thought of being stranded on a island with all the luxuries of life, then this is the place for You.
We had a blast with our children, we stayed 3 nights, did scuba, snorkel, paddle boarding, I even walked on the other side to do some fishing on my own.
Go enjoy and treat yourself.
Dining buffet for breakfast and dinner is AWESOME, plenty of choices.
Staff there is A1,, be back soon for another visit!!!

The real FIJiI experience is at plantation,,
I was not sure if was worth the xtra $$$ yo go to private resort and pay, but the Xperia e made me feel better about myself and my family.
The place is awesome and so laid back, people actually say hi and hello. Everyone is in local motion mode and there is no hurry like the states or U.K.
I did some simple fishing w/ rod and real and plastic and spinner baits as I walked around the small island and it was ,,,, liberating, got a chance to catch my breath after running bz as CEO since 2005.
The traditional grog ceremony my was awesome and so powerful w/the Fijian guys & gals singing with all their heart. The young man who did solo show was awesome, only 28 yrs old, I told him he gave me strong energey to last for 5 yrs.
Thank you plantation crew,,, and we will be back soon as possible on✅😘🙏.

Amazing experience with the family. We enjoyed the included activities such as kayak, SUP boards, sail boat, sports balls, board games. Staff was incredibly courteous and helpful. The location is amazing, the water is crystal clear.

We visited Plantation Island resort during the Australian school holiday period. Plantation Island Resort is an excellent option for families with young children. Overall, the staff are excellent AND pushed beyond to look after the guests. The location is beautiful, offering fun for everyone. We would recommend this place to our adult children with young grandchildren.
We did not want to eat buffet food.
Although the a la carte food was tasty, it was sometimes served a bit cool. We think this was because of the large numbers of dining guests. Our next visit to Plantation Island Resort will be off-school holiday period.

Service was terrible even when the restaurant was slow. They wouldn’t let us take food out to our daughter who was sick. The resort lists activities which are not there such as mini golf and para-sailing. Rooms are cinder block with peeling paint in the windows. Would never go back.

Great place to spend a couple of nights, very friendly staff, great view, nice food, close to grocery store. Limited parking available & a lot of stray dogs but was aware of both of these when I booked.
