Staff were excellent my 11 year old son asked fredy the gardener to open up a coconut for him so he went out of his way to do so then the next day Fredy went and picked him a fresh coconut to try, he was excellent all the staff went out of their way like this to make your stay grest

This is an older resort so no not expect it to be luxurious! The night auditor was wonderful. A few other staff not so helpful, we asked about dinner and were told one restaurant closed and other only doing buffet. We do not eat much so never do buffet. They ended up saying they could fit us in for à la carte at 6:45pm - when we went down it was pretty much empty!
The bed was comfortable and the room nice. Probably a little pricy for the dated facilities.

The resort has undergone some upgrading which is good since 2016/2017 when we were last there.
The nurses are spacious and generally well maintained in terms of cleaning however they are tired. The staff are generally friendly and good to deal with. We met up with a few from 2016/2017 who continue in evidencing Fiji hospitality of the old days. I don’t know that new staff are continuing with that same d style hospitality . Keisha/ Samantha / Miri / sala/ Anup / Sarona/ Vase our housejeroer for her beautiful note on our departure . Lovely staff to mention. One of the things we recommend is more loungers out and away from the pool areas. Not everyone likes to sit around the pool all the time. A really bad experience going into Jacks to buy gifts. They ounce on you and literally follow you around as if you are there to steal not to buy. We did complain about it . Although we bought gifts at the clothing section we did not buy with our discount clincher anything more. We have been travelling to Fiji for over 20 years and bought a lot of things from Jacks however will never support that business again as they are so unwelcoming and rude.

We had a constant stream of problems during our stay with the Double Tree. The room was not as nice as we expected the curtains had holes from moths and some of the lights were burned out in the main room so it felt like a dark cave. We found a dead cockroach in the main room on the first night that was not cleaned up for 2 days. A second roach showed up in the bathroom the very next day too.

The shower was fantastic and lived up to the pictures. Shower towels were the most frequent issue. They kept getting taken by the cleaning staff and not replaced. We OFTEN requested fresh towels from the front desk. We had to air dry ourselves after showers once because we got back from excursions, needed to shower, and had no towels...

The front desk staff was frequently rude to us and often didn't return our “Bula's”. We often felt unwelcome and heard similar feelings from some of the other guests.

Most of the service staff was friendly and got to know us fast because we ordered drinks often an gave them big tips. One waiter always remembered our names and would wave at us from across the pool! The breakfast was pretty good but the dinners were often not worth the money. However, the grill is TOTALLY worth the price!!! My wife and I ate there a couple of times because it was so fantastic!

It always felt like they were trying to bleed all the money out of you that they could. Everything had an additional charge attached, from the WiFi to the pools Towels... We wont be back...

Staff weren’t overly friendly!! Often ignored for a period of time when wanting a table (staff busy talking to other staff and on the computer)
Be prepared to pay top dollar for shuttles for excursions as a lot don’t offer a pick up from this resort being quite a wee way from everything.
Bar staff were very helpful and bubbly, the most part a neat place to visit

We all came back feeling so refreshed — this trip was exactly what we needed as a family. There's plenty to keep you busy without ever leaving the resort; just make sure you book ahead. And honestly, the massage I had there? One of the best I've ever had.
One person who really made our trip special was Samuela from the horse stables. He was absolutely wonderful with our one-year-old, getting him all excited around the horses and even letting him try fresh coconut water straight from the tree — a first for our little one!

One thing to know before you go — the resort is a bit out of the way, so we'd really suggest hiring a rental car. It makes such a difference being able to explore at your own pace and see the real Fiji rather than just the tourist spots.

Speaking of which, Denarau is lovely but very touristy, so don't skip the island trips. Just head over to Port Denarau and choose which island takes your fancy.

We also had a brilliant dinner at Indigo Restaurant in Port Denarau — highly recommend it.

And for families travelling with little ones like us, South Seas Island was a perfect choice. We booked through GetYourGuide which worked out much cheaper, so definitely worth checking out.

The Doubletree Resort was like a home away from home. The staff turned into family-family you like. Everyone was so helpful, kind, and accommodating. So many activities available to keep every age entertained. The meals were excellent-a wide assortment for the buffet breakfast and dinners. Great for families or couples.

Double Tree is quite good but I have been here when it was the Sonaisali Island Resort many years ago and it was beautiful back then.
It is looking a bit tired these days
Good value for money but it is quite a way out from Denerau etc so expect to be paying for taxis or transfers if you want to do bost trips etc
Overall pretty good but certainly not \"high end\" like you would expect from a Hilton
Many guests were complaining while we were there about the food
I thought the food was ok but again not high end
The pool area looks bliss in photos but having a volleyball net through the middle and kids floaties everywhere is not good when your a couple trying to relax

My room went out of electricity and AC during the second night. I had to get dressed in the dark in the morning because no one that could fix it was on staff till 8am. The issue was fixed by the time I got back to my room at 5:30pm.

Disappointing stay - would not recommend

My recent stay at this hotel was far below expectations and a waste of money. From check-in onward, I encountered multiple issues across every aspect of the property.

The room itself was not as clean as it should have been - I noticed dust in corners, insects, stains on the bedding, and the bathroom could have used better attention to detail. The furniture looked worn and outdated, making the space feel uninviting.

The staff was indifferent. When I had questions or requests, responses were dismissive and slow. For a hotel, guest service should be a priority, and this was clearly lacking.

Breakfast was disappointing. The selection was limited and the quality was poor. Items clearly hadn’t been refreshed regularly. It felt like an afterthought rather than a proper amenity.

The outdoor pool area, which should have been a nice feature, was actually the biggest letdown. The seating was uncomfortable plastic chairs with no cushioning and there were no proper lounge areas. It felt neglected.

For the price I paid, this hotel simply does not deliver value. There are much better options that would actually be worth your money. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this property.

A lovely property with charming staff who really want guests to enjoy themselves. The private ferry to the island is charming. The property is lovely for walking. Meals are not great, but solidly good, with some nice weekly features e.g. Fiji Night, BBQ. In May of 2026, there was no beach at all which came as a big surprise (apparently the result of a recent cyclone, but management never acknowledged this). Thus there was no beach to walk on, and there were limited loungers along the rocky part of the ocean -- scenic and pleasant, but less than we anticipated for a Fiji holiday.

I was unsure how the arrival and check-in experience would go, as I'd heard you need to take a short boat ride across to the hotel from the mainland. This turned out to be super easy, and we didn't need to wait long for the boat to come across and collect us. The service runs 24hrs which is good to know, especially if you have an early or late flight. We had to leave for the airport at 04:30 am on check-out and had no issues. We were on the boat with some of the workers, which was fun.

Things I liked
*Hotel setting is beautiful, with hut-style rooms amongst palm trees. Our room had an ocean view, which was dreamy to wake up to.
*Room was spacious with a nice-sized bathroom, a safe, an ironing board, and a fridge.
*The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful
*The pool area was nice and overlooks the ocean

Things I didn't like
*There was no hair dryer
*You have to pay for Wi-Fi, which is almost unheard of these days
*There's no written information telling guests about the hotel facilities
*Can't swim in the ocean
*Only 2 restaurants - Vulani food was terrible & had not a single healthy option. Tavu was nice, but it's the fancy, more expensive option and only does dinner.
*Given the location, it's an effort to leave the hotel and find other restaurants or shops
*3% surcharge for credit card payments or 10FJFD per transaction to withdraw cash

This hotel was okay for a couple of nights, but I personally wouldn't spend my whole trip here.

We were disappointed to learn there isn’t a beach. Pictures and descriptions state beaches however, you are not able to swim from this area and their beach is covered with debris and the sea walls falling apart. Room was clean. Staff very kind and helpful. The best part of the place, is the pool. The float up bar is nice. The buffet, especially the “burger” night was awful. There are not many options and most items are geared to their Indian guests. So much so, that there were nights where even the adults were getting chicken nuggets from the “kids offerings”. We tried to go to Tavu for dinner for our last night and were turned away because they said we needed a reservation. No one told us this, there was no sign, nothing was told to us at check-in. They had 6-7 tables open. When we questioned how people were supposed to know they had to make a reservation, they could not answer and instead offered us a table that didn’t have a reservation until 8 pm. We were there at 6 pm. She couldn’t make it make sense. They could definitely upgrade their flat pillows. We were glad we only booked 3 nights for our stay, as staying longer, would have been miserable with the food options.

The place was nice but looked a little tired. The staff were lovely and very helpful, which was the best part of our stay. There were a few things in the room that needed attention, and we had to move rooms because the fan was making a pounding noise in the roof.

In the second room, the toilet was slow to refill, the wardrobe light would not turn off, and the kettle base was hanging off.

The biggest disappointment was the buffet food. It was barely warm, and in the evening, if you were not there by 6pm, much of the food was already gone.

Overall, it was not the standard we have come to expect from a Hilton Hotel.

Very disappointed with our stay. We had stayed here twice before and the overall care and attention to the simple basic room needs for guests were not met.
Took 4 trips to the front desk to even get cards to open the door. Was a fault with the machine on the door.
Aircon not working after night two became unbearable group had to move rooms
only to have rain drip on their heads over night.
Not once were the rooms completely replenished of basic necessities. Ie. towels, then a floor mat for the shower, toilet paper, water, tea, milk. We had to daily ask for something the staff had forgotten. My bed sheets were pilled to the point it felt like I was sleeping on sand. After day 5 we gave up asking for the basic necessities and just worked around what we had.
Travelled with a group coming for a special occasion and the stay put a huge damper on the holiday having to come back to your room, no toilet paper, no water, no soap. You go on holiday to relax, and trust the hotel takes cares of basic needs.
This is a Hilton branded hotel, guests should expect better. Understand it’s a chilled vibe at the island resorts, however believe it or not guests still need toilet paper. It’s basic room service.

Overall, a really nice stay, but if we’d known how isolated it was, we might have chosen somewhere closer to the marina for easier access to tours and dining options.

Detailed: The room was very nice, spacious, and comfortable. Cleaning was good, although we had to request fresh towels a couple of times as they weren’t replaced daily. The air conditioning worked, but didn’t cool the room enough to feel fully comfortable. We still felt a bit warm even with the fans & AC on.
The staff were a highlight, always friendly, smiling, and happy to help.
Breakfast had a good variety of options, but they started packing things up about 20–30 minutes before the official closing time. The same happened with dinner, where shows started late and kitchen service wrapped up earlier than expected, so you had to arrive early to avoid missing out.
The pool area and pool bar were great ☺️clean, well maintained, and a lovely spot to relax, especially with shaded areas during the hottest part of the day.
One thing to keep in mind is the LOCATION. The hotel is quite far from the main marina, and there are no nearby restaurants. Unless you book tours through the hotel or hire a car, you’ll likely spend most of your time on the resort. The boat transfer staff were always kind and helpful, which made getting across easy.

The property is badly rundown.
The every other outlets in the room is not working, we put something in the refrigerator to find out next morning the cheese melted.
The room barely cleaned - dust on the bed overheads, dirty doors. White towels and robs not white anymore.
Breakfast buffet food is absolutely average , to say the least.
Tables and utensils not washed/cleaned properly.
Honestly speaking I have no idea, why the price is do high.
On a top of it: traffic is terrible. It took 90 min for us to get to the hotel from the airport, and another 30 min to check in and get to the room…
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I recently stayed at DoubleTree Resort Fiji for 5 nights, and overall it was a wonderful experience.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout the stay, always ready to help with a smile. The views from the resort are absolutely stunning—perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a great variety of options to start the day, and the pool area was excellent, clean, and enjoyable for both adults and kids.

We also tried some activities like the river cruise and horse riding, which were both really enjoyable and added a nice touch to the holiday experience.

The buffet dinners were delicious with a wide range of food, though they are on the expensive side. One important thing to note is that almost every transaction is done by card, and there is a 3% transaction fee added each time. Having access to cash could help save some money on these extra charges.

Overall, it’s a beautiful resort with great service, amazing views, and plenty to do—just be mindful of the additional card fees.

I has high expectation since it was a Double Tree we frequent Double Trees in the USA. We arrived by boat and there was no attendant at the dock. We pulled our bags all the way to the office to find the front desk overwhelmed. We purchased an ocean view bure, the room was in the back with \"the view being a narrow space between two buildings. There is no beach at this hotel just a rock wall. No free internet at your room. The food was slow to prepare and tasted bad. My daughter got sick in the bed and we had to call the front desk 3 times to get fresh sheets. You have to take a boat to get to the road and the only cabs available there are run by the hotel at an inflated rate. The pool was nice and the rooms were big and clean.

Third stay at this property, I don’t think we would stay again. Basic amenities not replaced in the room, towels. Toilet paper, water etc. Key cards unable to open doors. Air con was broken. No one ever seemed interested came for a special birthday and over all pretty disappointing stay. Understand it’s Fiji, and it’s relaxed. However we shouldn’t need to ask for the rooms to be cleaned, and basic room

The staff was very nice and welcoming from the moment we arrived to when we left. The only issue we had was when we were trying to get back into our room and the room key stopped working. They kept giving us the key and saying it would work but it took walking to the desk 4 times before they finally sent someone from engineering over to fix the lock. The food was pretty expensive and not much in the way of different options everyday. We wish the pool was open longer at night since that was the only time it wasn't so crowded. Overall, very relaxing and the food and beverage team was so nice.

We loved everything about this resort. From the beautiful welcome, clean large accommodations, the pool and the friendly staff. Our only complaint is it took us 3 days to figure out where we could get lunch and dinners in different parts of the resort. We were under the impression that there was only one restaurant so we ended up eating every meal there. It started getting very boring after a few days; literally had everything they could offer after a few days. The themed buffets were great but expensive. I would have liked a bit of a property map tour to explain where things are and how things work. It could have saved us a lot of money if we knew ahead of time.

I wouldn't stay here again. The first room we were allocated was dark & far away & had a view of a small wall & not much else.
The second room we had was better, but our neighbours had kids who screamed all night long for 2 nights in a row (and the parents didn't seem to care) & the resort weren't that phased about assisting. The food was ok, but not worth the price considering we changed to another resort in Nadi & it was $5 less per person at the buffet & had way more options and much higher quality. We ordered room service one night & it took over and hour & two phone calls to follow up (for bottled water and sprite) - it seems their ordering app doesn't actually tell the staff you've ordered? The front desk were also pretty gruff that night. Pool/bar were good, and the staff were by far the strongest part of the resort - they were all friendly and attentive. I just didn't feel this stay was worth the money we paid, especially considering you're paying $65 each time you leave the resort to go anywhere and $65 to come back as it's far from most amenities and you're paying tourist prices to travel. Aside from the pool and the bar, there's not much of anything to do at the resort so you most likely will want to leave if you want to do anything other than swim or drink or nap. We ended up leaving midway through our booking (giving up three paid nights at DT by choice) and were much happier at the next resort - I didn't feel the DoubleTree hit the mark we were expecting.

Expected better! There were no amenities, room service plate not cleaned for over 3 days, flickering lights especially not ok for photosensitive people, not cleaning floors and bedding, buggy service not coming when requested, no TV or Netflix, cockroaches, lizards, bird droppings on bed, no water for over 5 hours even when requested 3 times to follow up after housekeeping in the morning. Really disappointing!

Great location, very friendly staff , nice pool . My entire stay was very comfortable . kids loved it . Had the opportunity to watch the traditional fire dance which was very nice. Only improvements could be in the area of having more varieties in food options across multiple restaurants. After 7 days of stay we literally had eaten almost all the items on the menu and it became repetitive after few days of stay at the resort.

We loved our room. Our 2 nights was absolutely rocking.
Staffs were super friendly and very helpful when needed help.
The 2 chefs that make dinner in the restaurant near bar is mind blowing. The chefs are a 100. The food was super tasty and my husband and i loved it.

The property location is beautiful and worth it even if it is a bit far from the airport and main action.

Staff is helpful in general but front desk is not. We arrived early and since our room was not ready, and there was no reasonable facility to shower and freshen up for a morning out, we accepted the offer to upgrade to a higher-priced Bures which was available. Only to sit around waiting for hours for housekeeping to clean it. The lady at front desk ended her shift and walked away. When my wife went to check with the new staff in charge, she was rudely shooed away. I had to escalate to the manager, Margaret, who did get us the room ASAP. Overall, rontdesk was neither efficient nor nice to deal with. Suggest to get male senior staff to keep the catty women in check and make it a friendly atmosphere.

Pizza for lunch at the pool was terrible - not Margherita but just frozen Cheese and tomato on old dough heated up. Just not Hilton standard.

Not enough vegetarian options on the a la carte menu - but Penne Arrabiata for dinner was excellent.

Sunset River Cruise was a major fail - boat did not startup and we just spent the evening on our balcony.

Overall, expect more from a Hilton - looks like it was recently taken over and the staff and menu may be a carryover. Suggest a refresh of leadership and more training to make this world-class and worthy of the lovely property instead of a mediocre local experience.
