Our family of 4 (kids aged 6 and 4) stayed at this resort for 2 weeks and we had the best vacation! Here are our big takeaways.
1. Check in is at 3pm- pack your swim suits close to kill time at the pool. Public bathrooms have big showers too. Check out is at 11am, book your boat back to mainland accordingly (it's also a 1.5 hour trip back on the boat, it stops at other islands).
2. Bring water bottles, you'll be filling them up regularly at the beach restaurant.
3. Bug spray is available throughout the resort, including under your bathroom sink- use it.
4. Bring water shoes- beach is a combo of rough rock, crushed seashells, and sand.
5. Bring an underwater camera- you will encounter reef sharks, sting rays, and beautiful fish on the daily. If you go island hopping, you'll have the opportunity to snorkel in the most beautiful spots.
6. Go line fishing, you will catch fish! If you go deep sea trolling, you might get sea sick.
Staff is amazing, they remember your names from day 1. Rooms are attended to twice daily and the AC in the rooms is excellent. Food is delicious and lots of options if you try different things.

This resort has a good staff that is committed to you having an enjoyable stay. I like the amount of free water toys available. There is a reef on the west end that is good for snorkeling, it does have number of jelly fish, but their sting is very mild. There is boat traffic so you need to swim and snorkel within a designated area. The dinning is on the East side so if your room is on the west side you could be in for a lot of walking. They have a lot of little activities all day like crab races or fire dancing to keep you busy.

We had a wonderful time & really enjoyed the effort made by the staff to ensure everything was to our liking. Tema, Tina, Ace, Sherry, Philly, Atu, & the whole team did a fabulous job. We had a great 5 days at Malolo island resort. Staff was excellent, happy, friendly and helpful, particularly restaurant staff who made us feel super special. The whole atmosphere made us smile even on slightly cloudy days. Food was great, we ate mostly seafood and it was fresh and tasty in all three restaurants. We enjoyed the best hot stone massage in the spa to relief muscle tensions from travel. Had a great snorkelling trip to Tavarua to see turtles and giant clams, luckily it was just the two of us in the sea with the guide on a perfect sunny day. Last night was my wife’s birthday and it was crowned with a stunning (and huge) seafood platter finished with a surprise cake and live bands happy b’day performance. A truly fantastic home away from home, perfect for winding down, enjoying turquoise sea, calm ambiance and chill.

Friendly staff, everyone greets you with a ‘Bula’ everywhere you go. We chose the meal plan and it was a great not to worry about cost of food (drinks extra). All 3 restaurants are delicious but our favorite was dinner at The Terrace. Bura 10 (2 bedroom family bungalow) was awesome and close to everything.

When you go on vacation, the food can make or break your time away. At Malolo Island Resort we were more than impressed. After the food, the entire experience was wonderful for our kids (7 and 11), from activities, snorkeling, pools, to just the absolute most relaxing stay all around. And the staff... We booked a beachfront Buke, it was really cool, the view is amazing right onto the beautiful reef, took some great pictures. Very relaxing, wish I booked more nights as we only stayed for two nights so not quite enough time. Loads of activities to choose from. The food was good, we had the dining package and there were plenty of choices between the three restaurants!

Special shout out to Atu, the staff at the restaurant and pool bar, super positive guy who made the stay even more enjoyable - also Luke, and the band were great!! The rest of the staff were super friendly and great too. Very memorable experience and many thanks … Vinaka !

This was our 3rd stay at Malolo Island Resort, which in itself should give a good indication on how we feel about the resort. We highly recommend it. Lovely intimate experience, with fantastic staff, good food and wonderful atmosphere. It's fantastic for family holidays. We'll likely be back for a 4th stay in the next year or 2!

None of our family had ever stayed at a resort before this trip .

It was an incredible experience for young and old. (our family included grandparents, parents and kids)

The kids club was a highlight for our kids - 2 and 7 years. It was nice to see the staff singing, dancing and playing around with the kids and there was a great range of activities for the kids to enjoy.

The staff were all incredibly friendly and always helpful and welcoming.

The food was amazing!

Beautiful resort, smaller and more peaceful than others. A lot of attention to detail including espresso machines in the rooms, tours of the property and personalized meet and greet. Restaurant menus come with lights. Really high speed internet. Close to some of the best surf spots in Fiji, and a lot of other activities. Food was delicious. Would stay again. Amazing staff.

Stunning magical place to celebrate my partners 40th birthday! Snorkelling off the beach, crystal Clearwater! We loved our stay here and the staff had a massive part in this, could not do enough for you and so friendly. Food is amazing too, bbq buffet was my favourite but over all it’s all good.
Had a beach front bungalow which was a good size and perfect spot.
Sunsets cocktails unreal!
Recommend doing the meal plan as it’s not cheap, shame there was no drinks package as we would have done this too.
Thanks to all at the resort for a great stay, also our 3 yr old bit loved it too, kids club is great.

This resort is phenomenal!! Rooms are spacious and spotless, all with amazing sea views. The resort facilities and grounds were all well maintained and we loved the pools. Snorkelling off the beach was great (colourful coral, huge amount & variety of fish, & we even saw a stingray).
The staff were nothing short of amazing, very welcoming and so great with our three year old. Our daughter has a severe egg allergy and the kitchen and dining staff went above and beyond to make sure she was well catered for, they even make her a special cake.
Thank you so much Malolo for making our trip stress free and so magical.

Our group of 5 adults and 3 young kids stayed for a family holiday at Malolo and everyone just had the best time. The staff are amazing and really do make you feel at home. The location is absolutely stunning with plenty of fish just at your doorstep to snorkel with. It’s also quite accessible to Cloudbreak and other surf spots. Food was delicious from all the restaurants they had but our favourite was having dinner in the sand at the beach bar overlooking the sunset. Definitely recommend giving this resort a try if you like a quiet and chilled out holiday.

Some of the best service we have ever experienced, been all over the world, and the staff here were second to none. Resort is a bit tired but they are working on it. Its a jungle, nature will have its way with wood. This island resort, is just that. There is nowhere to go, without a water taxi or ferry, you are at their mercy for all things. No shops on the island. They permit duty free, but otherwise

Just wow. Kids club activities were great, with very caring nanies: pool games, coconut boat making, even banana ride (at some extra cost). Adult activities were also awesome with fijian dance, kava ceremony at evening.. but also guided kayaks with no extra charge during the day. We took a few excursions.. island hopping was superb, village tour was ok and not great. Snorkeling just from the coast was just awesome with corals, loads of fish, and even blacktip reef sharks during sunset. Overall, you feel the great fijian culture in Malolo, i would highly recommend this place for families.

what a special place! We love our stay at Malolo. The staff is so warm and welcoming like a family. The resort is clean, comfortable and the our bura(?) is steps away from the ocean. We snorkel every day in front of the resort ( beautiful colorful fish). Food is well prepared and delicious. We were there for 5 days and were spoiled for choices. The best restaurants (both Treetop and Terrace) have very good food. So far it has the best food of all the hotels we stayed at in our 5 weeks of travel. We were very sad to leave….until then, see you again.

Good range of gear supplied for snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking.

Overall a beautiful place to relax very safe and quiet not a lot of things to do like adult activities. The beach is very rocky good for snorkeling but not for swimming. A lot of mosquitoes be prepared. Staff is very friendly and polite.

Amazing island, beautiful friendly staff. The rooms are clean, stylish and very close to the ocean. I have been to Fiji 5 times and this was the best of all the resorts and islands I’ve stayed at. The food is really good- reasonable price and fantastic for all of us including the kids. Get over to the tiny private Mociu island which only Malolo and Likuliku guests can use. We had 3 hours to ourselves on this island with a packed eski/hamper for FJD 375. Snorkel alone with your family on the most colourful reef and climb the mountain for a 360 degree view of the mamanuca islands. It was probably the most special thing we have experienced as a family.

This was our second time to Malolo Island Resort - our first being 7 years ago. We had always wanted to return. We love the fact that it is a small, boutique resort so you feel as though you get to know the staff really well. Special shoutout to Sereana and Meli (from the restaurants) and Mela the nurse who looked after my husband when he came down with a bad cold. There were so many other lovely staff but hard to remember all of the names! The resort is well maintained, and the bures are very comfortable and well serviced. We opted for the food package which was possibly too much food for us and it was hard to do it justice. We particularly enjoyed all of the local food and the seafood. Oh, and my husband loved the desserts! The snorkelling is great right out in front of the bures (so many fish and beautiful coral in certain spots) which is a prerequisite for us along with the kayaking. We didn't get a chance to sail this time around. The thing we most love about Malolo is the friendly staff who really engage with guests and go out of their way to make it a special visit. We also love the Fijian singing and dancing, showcasing the beautiful Fijian culture. There is live music happening pretty much all day! There were some works being undertaken around the resort while we were there, but we were made aware of this and understand it is necessary to keep the resort maintained. All in all, another wonderful trip to Fiji and Malolo. Soto tale. Until next time...!

Fabulous stay, understand why it was voted best Fiji resort. So beautiful, comfortable, quaint, complete… staff were over the top caring and “real”. So much to do, great location. Sunsets were amazing, close to top surfing and snorkeling. Free access to lots of “toys”, kayaks, paddle boards, honor cats, high end snorkeling gear… And did I say that what an incredible staff!!!

We had such a relaxing honeymoon here. The food at the Tree Top restaurant was fantastic, the service was incredible, and the accomodations were very comfortable. It's a family resort, but our bure was near the end of the island and we found that we could find plenty of privacy and quiet date nights. They also have an adults only pool which is nice. The spa was also quite lovely. On the whole, we would certainly recommend it to any family or couple travelling to Fiji.

Malolo completely raises the bar for hospitality. We’ve never experienced such authentic warmth and friendliness anywhere. It’s in every detail. For example, Jean, who makes omelettes at breakfast, also brings even the shyest of kids out of their shells with her sincere interest in and friendliness to them. My husband and I got married in 2020 during the pandemic and were not able to go overseas for a honeymoon. We knew we wanted to visit Fiji and had read wonderful reviews about Malolo. It was worth the 3-year wait! Upon our arrival to the resort's dock, we were welcomed with cheerful song and necklaces from the staff. From our first moment until the end, the staff was warm, thoughtful, kind, and helpful. We enjoyed the variety of the 3 places you could eat at the resort. Each day there were various activities to choose from both at the resort and out on the ocean. I enjoyed a couple of massages at the spa. My husband and I enjoyed hiking around the property. There was so much to do. We highly recommend this resort and have talked about going back!

Mediocre not inspiring

Just not impressed to put it simply. Service was satisfactory, not great just basic.
Much dirtier grounds than other places in Fiji we have stayed. Food wasn’t impressive and no Wi-Fi in the rooms.

We had a lovely time. It is a family resort so you need to be happy to have kids around. There is a adults only restaurant and pool though. Food very good also and they have happy hours for a range of half price drinks. Staff lovely and great with kids

Food choices were very limited. One restaurant had only three main items, and no sides come with it. Very expensive to boot. Wouldn't go back as other resorts offer more for the price.

From the moment I got off the boat the experience began. They saying to us and said welcome home. I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was so friendly. They went out of their way to make sure that we had everything that we needed at all times. They made us feel like we are at home.
Our ocean front bure was very nice. The air conditioning worked well and it was very comfortable.
The only negative I really have for the resort was the food. Some of it was good. Some of it was not. The family dining room, food, seamed re-purposed. If you have kids, it’s a good resort but for adults only stay in the adult side if they were able to set up some adventures for us and it made it very fun. I would absolutely recommend staying here. And a big shout out to Jim. He took care of every need we had.

The resort is in a beautiful location. Snorkelling was amazing. Friendly staff. Kids club was amazing the kids had a great time doing the daily activities.
Clean and tidy resort however needs a lot of work to make it 4 star. The gutters on the bures need fixing due to leaks. Men were on our roof fixing the roof and gutters most days. Smoke alarms continually beeping, The decking boards around the adult pool are all soft and rotten and need replacing. The wooden paths leading up to the main house need a good clean as when wet they are dangerously slippery. The kids slipped over multiple times walking around, and one lady slipped holding her baby. The roof over the day beds leaks and the day bed mattresses have mould on them as a result.
Food at the beach bar was ok a bit boring after 6 days of eating it. Kids food prices were expensive considering they don't eat much.
Meal plans are ridiculous DO NOT BUY as they are $185 FJD per person per day. Its cheaper to eat normally. Was not expecting to pay up to $2K to eat here for 6 nights and not drinking that much.
Very expensive holiday for what it is.
