Everything was amazing from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. There were no hiccups. Just smooth, professional service throughout our stay. The staff was welcoming and attentive.

The location is also great. Very central and convenient for getting to different parts of Seoul.

The only area I personally feel could be improved is the room temperature system. The hotel uses a central AC/heating system, so individual room temperature can’t be adjusted based on the season. We visited during winter, and the room felt quite warm, but we weren’t able to turn on the AC to cool it down. The only solution was to open the windows.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and truly appreciated the hospitality.

Within the span of a few days, I was moved to two different rooms (3rd and 5th) and ended up on the 9th floor, in one of the rooms, where I woke up extremely itchy with rashes and small bite marks. I'm not sure if it was bedbugs??? the hotel Inconvenient location for tourists traveling to Seoul; the walking distance to the bus and train was terrible. There was no coin laundry nearby; the one laundry shop I was referred to close by was beyond overpriced; I thought it was a sick joke. Little things added up; I had a rough time in Seoul because of it.

Their advertisement saying it’s two twin beds is false. It is two single beds which is completely different. They advertise that there is air conditioning. There is no mention that this means only when they feel it should be turned on. I like to sleep in a cool room and even on hot days we were forced to open the window which meant you had the sound of a busy street. I complained and they said they would send up a fan. Very disappointed that they advertise falsely. Would not stay there again and very disappointed since we couldn’t move to another hotel as prices had gone up.

The location is in a very convenient area and even has a 7/11 store next to the hotel. Lots of restaurants within walking distance even a McDonald’s. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious style buffet. I definitely enjoyed my time here.

I have stayed (not kidding) over 60 nights at this hotel in 2025 for business. The primary factor was the location near Gongdeok Station, which is amazing for subway access and transfer. Keep in mind that the rooms are smallish (even for Korea), but the main detractors from 5-stars are two-fold: the A/C (for summer visitors) is horrendous; it will not get below 24 in the room, even running it all night. Second, Korea prides themselves on their internet speeds, and the hotel's is the worst I've seen in Korea for WiFi. Drops at least 2 times per hour, so streaming is exceptionally challenging.

Public transportation was nearby. The staff is extremely helpful. Plenty of connivence stores nearby and lots of restaurant options. Plus there was a gym on the floor with a view. The view from our room was amazing. Also there was a park nearby that I could walk.

Unacceptable Cleanliness & Maintenance Issues and Lack of Professionalism by the Staff
My three-night stay at Shilla Stay Mapo was profoundly disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a hotel in the Shilla group. The experience was ruined by serious cleanliness and maintenance issues, which were compounded by a lack of professionalism from the staff, beginning with my check-in.
At check-in, I gave my credit card to the receptionist, who then failed to return it to me. I had to realize this myself and retrieve it. This oversight is a significant sign of unprofessionalism and lack of training, and I am very concerned about the security risk it posed.
Upon arriving at my room, I discovered two further significant problems. First, the tile trim around the bathroom sink was faulty, leaving a dirty, black residue. This substance stained my pants and was visibly dirty when wiped. Second, I found a large, unidentified, and disturbing oily stain on the underside of the desk. The stain was sticky, and its presence made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable in my room.
The hotel's response to these issues was a major disappointment. When I called the front desk, the receptionist seemed to have difficulty with English and did not seem to take my concerns seriously. I was told someone would be sent to my room, but after a long wait, no one arrived. I had to go to the front desk in person, wasting valuable time from my trip to Seoul. This hotel is rated as a four star. In all of my travels I can honestly say that it should be a 3 star. Room pictures are deceiving making them look larger. Lobby has only 2 chairs and a bench. Air conditioning will not cool the rooms any lower than 23.5 C, and room hallways are not air conditioned at all. Buffet breakfast is ok, and staff are very polite and courteous. Building is run down...in need of a major renovation. Been to other Shilla Stay hotels and I have never had these issues in the past

hotel room was hot and AC was not cooling it off. staff gave us a floor fan but that was not sufficient and made the stay very uncomfortable. no fan in bathroom, and no way to keep bathroom light on without turning the light in the entire room on. rooms are very small with no good storage options. for anything more than 1 traveler this makes it very cramped experience. Staff was great at accommodating as much they could, but the facilities were not very pleasant.

Pro - location close to trains to airports
Cons - bathroom is the worst, no where you can put your toiletries and clean clothes.
No divider between shower area and toilet so after shower, you need to come out to the room to dress yourself as the floor is all wet.
Tap in vanity is those sensor type, a pain to use when you try to wash your face in the morning as water just stopped as soon as your hands moved away.
Not that easy to access restaurants, most close around 8 pm so if yours is late flight it would be hard for you to find something decent to eat.
It is the first time I go to Seoul so I chose somewhere close to the train line and it turned out thats the only useful features this hotel offers.
Make sure you don't choose their special deal with the Korea pass and duty free vouchers as they are pretty useless \"bonus\" but you pay more to book this in the first place.
Will stay elsewhere next time now I have some idea about Seoul.

I stayed at this hotel based on a friend’s recommendation. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the metro, and it takes about 15 to 30 minutes to reach various main areas in Seoul. I felt very safe walking between the hotel and the station, even at night. The room was clean and had everything I needed. I was a bit disappointed with the gym, as the equipment was quite old and there weren’t many options, although it did offer a nice view. Overall, everything was good and I had a pleasant stay.

Not the most pleasant stay at a 4-star hotel

Best thing about the stay was daily room service and very comfortable bed. The A/C was broken for the entire stay, despite it being late winter / spring the room was stuffy and hot during the day. We let the front desk know on our second day, we were told that they were working on it and nothing improved for the rest of the week. They suggested to keep the windows open, which only helped a bit. Luckily the temperature was bearable at night. It didn't help that Korean hotels have much smaller rooms. This hotel in general also had older furnitures, can see tables cracked and metal in the shower fall off.

With the brand value, the hotel location is ideal for people who need to go to the airport - as there is a direct airport line or business district Yeoido, which is visible from the hotel or shopping / eatery within the area. Convenience store is connected to the hotel.

The place was clean and comfortable to stay at. The staffs spoke English and offered excellent service!

The hotel has a laundry room where you can do your own or you can use their laundry services. It was close to subway and bus stops so it was easy to travel around the city. There is also a 7-Eleven next to it so it is very convenient if you need something.

We enjoyed our stay and don't have any complaints.

I was shocked to learn that at night, they do not have the air conditioning on, instead they circulate the air from outside. As a result, I had to sleep in a hot and stuffy room. Very unacceptable for price of the room. House keeping only came for 1 day out of the 3 days I stayed.

I booked because of the name Shilla but it was not like a Shilla quality, table, toilet, shower all dirty and nasty. and when others closing their room door, door is automatically closing so hard and loudly so I had to wake up middle of nights, so many times. this is the worst hotel in my life!! book other hotel near this place.

We were here a few days ago then went to Jeju Island. I wrote a quick review on Expedia regarding our first stay. When we checked-in this time, the front desk personnel were aware of our review and made sure that during our current stay we wouldn’t have the same issue. Impressive! The hotel is clean & conveniently located regarding to public transportation access & restaurants. We didn’t use their restaurant on 2F but I used their gym. It’s a small gym but has what I needed. The hotel provides you with water bottles & towels. I would definitely come back to Shilla Stay.
