As I got into town on the day of check-in, I was passing by the Inn anyway so I stopped in to see if my room was ready. It was 1:30 pm and check-in was stated at 3:00 pm. While I did not get my hopes up for early check-in, I was met at the front desk with a very rude woman while she was on her cellphone yelling at someone else. She informed me with a very stern voice that check-in is at 3:00 pm. She claimed the rooms were being cleaned. Well, after I was able to check-in, the cleaning part of her statement was a lie. The room was filthy, including dirty carpets, dust everywhere, work desk half wiped, cobwebs along the walls, lamp shades, heater. The cupboard had an open bag of chips with some kind of liquid spill in the cupboard as well as on the fridge. If I ordered the insurance, I would have canceled the room when I first tried to see if the room was ready after the interaction with whom I’m guessing was the owner with her demeanor, oh and her Subaru park job under the underpass where normally guests would offload their luggage. Pretty obvious she’s not there for the guests. The two other personal I spoke with during my stay were pleasant, but I would guess they won’t last long with the current management. The heated pool was freezing, not to mention the algae in the pool. The fitness room, again dirty with dust and what looked like sweat stains on the equipment as well as on the floor. Lesson learned.

My girlfriend and I were in the Cortland area for a baby shower in Freeville, as we live almost 3 hours away (Schenectady area), and staying overnight was a no-brainer since driving almost 200 miles one way was enough for anyone to be tired; so in preparations for our trip, I went on hotels.com to book a 1 night stay at the Best Western Plus Finger Lakes hotel. After checking out and heading home, here’s what I have to say:

Checking into the hotel was relatively easy, but noticed issues with the staff lacking professionalism from the start. The check-in clerk was wearing a SUNY Cortland T shirt, with a durag; if he wasn’t sitting at the front desk, we could have mistaken from for a patron, let alone hotel staff. He was nice, but not very hospitable. Didn’t tell us much about the hotel, where the elevators were, we practically were on our own at that point. You’d think working at a BW they would be in company-branded apparel, and be more hospitable, but apparently not here. It’s sad really.

The room itself was reasonably clean, we didn’t see anything concerning like prior posts on here about the rooms; everything worked. AC was good but needed a dusting, toilet worked, shower was OK, but the TV we had: the remote had issues, and it was hard to navigate. But for one night; whatever. I did notice that the elevators are slower than molasses in an igloo, that was evident as mentioned.

As a quick staycation, this was a great hotel for the value. You could tell that the few staff were working double duty to ensure a great experience and pulled that off. The room was clean and spacious. While generally quiet, the rooms above were rather loud. Breakfast had a good variety with hot options like a waffle maker, eggs, sausage, bagels and toast. Along with yogurt, fruit, muffins, and cereal, plus assorted beverages. I think the only real complaint was that the pool water was quite chilly. We managed to get in, but at least 5 degrees warmer would help immensely.

The stairwell to the room was simply gross. Stains, food, and nose waste on the walls and floor. Several dead bees at the side exit, inside. Spills on the wall in my room. Black marks on one bed pillow. Pull out couch sheets were not changed from last guest. Clogged tub, low water pressure. TV would not stream from my phone as indicated. On a positive note, staff were pleasant and the location was close to stores and food chains. No where near the quality expected given what we paid per night. Will not stay again.

We atayed here two years ago and it was a great, clean, well kept hotel. This time was very different. The staff were talking loudly about a problem when i was waiting to check in. The carpets were filthy. The room smelled of cat urine. They put me in the room closest to the lobby and it was loud as the night went on. Breakfast was the same both days with rubbery sausage and brown oranges along witg stale bagels in sandwich bags.
We wont be back. Very disappointed.

This was a perfect place to stay close to the baseball fields (like less than 1 min close). Breakfast was your standard continental breakfast. I do have 2 suggestions for breakfast, 1. with games starting at 8am and being so close to the fields, starting at 7am is a bit late. 6 or even 6:30am would be much better. 2. The individual servings of cream cheese need to be refrigerated at all times placing them in with the breads that are not refrigerated isn’t good. This was the case on both Sat and Sun mornings. The rooms were clean, most stuff seems to be updated fairly recently and the bed was comfortable. The only area that didn’t looked to be touched was the stairwells but honestly it’s not a big deal to me. I will say the noise from the road can be a bit loud sometimes but it’s manageable.

Had a wedding to attend and stayed bc it was move-in week for the area colleges. The staff were helpful. The breakfast was limited but sufficient. The bed was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the facility was not the cleanest. The pool was dirty, and the room had a musty smell. The lobby was hot and humid. The curtains were broken. The AC in the room worked well, but made loud noises that sounded like it was going to break. It did not and remained a working unit throughout the reservation (3 days/2 nights). Overall, not worth the cost per night. Cortland is a depressed area overall with little to do, but if you are in the area, check out the 1890 house.

we were in town for one night to move her son into his college dorm in Ithaca. We had to rebook our stay from a hotel in Ithaca and this was the only room available. We paid almost $300 to stay in this room and it was absolutely filthy. The people at the front desk were very nice. They were the only real employees that we had any interaction with but overall the hotel needs a major update in furniture as well as carpet replacement and paint. It was pretty gross.

We stayed for two nights at Best Western Plus Finger Lakes. The location is convenient - close to shopping, restaurants, and right next to a mini golf course. Parking was easy and plentiful, which we appreciated.

Unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Customer service at the front desk was poor, and they weren’t flexible about a late checkout. Breakfast options were limited, there was no hairdryer in our bathroom, and no room service during our stay. If you need extra towels, you’re required to bring your used ones down to the front desk to exchange them, which felt unnecessarily inconvenient.
We also had the bad luck of being placed next to few rooms booked by families attending a youth baseball tournament. The teenage boys were loud and unsupervised in the hallways both nights, keeping us up until midnight when we had early mornings planned. It made for a frustrating and restless stay.

For the price, you’d expect a bit more in terms of service, amenities, and overall experience. While the location is great, we likely wouldn’t return.

It was ok. If you’re going to a PBR tournament in Cortland, it’s location is perfect.

I don’t have anything bad to say - it was on the shabbier side - but it was a clean comfortable place to sleep. nothing special.

FYI, the “hot breakfast” promised was powdered eggs & make your own waffle. Otherwise it was a fridge with yogurts & some prepackaged muffins.

Convenient to SUNY Cortland. Helpful staff. Good breakfast options. Comfortable beds. My only concern about this property is in the general upkeep and maintenance. I was given a room with a window that didn’t close completely, making the road noise very loud inside the room. The staff member graciously moved me to a different room and said he would make note of the maintenance issue. However, when I spoke with my husband later, he told me that he had also been placed in that room on his last trip and asked to move. That was well over a year ago. It seems like that would be enough time to fix a window. Other than that, the hotel was sufficient for my needs, though if I had a choice of staying there again or down the road, I would probably choose down the road.

This was last minute booking on a Friday and room rate of almost $300 combined with photos seemed reasonable, but room didn't deliver at that price point despite great friendly and helpful staff.
When entering room it was freezing. Heat was not on (which is fine to save energy) but window was not full closed in winter, letting cold in. Window was difficult to close, did not slide, lock did not align.
Heater worked but had funny smell, coils were visually dirty.
TV did not work at first. We played with connections, source, remotes, etc with no luck. Called for help. Before help arrived we reset TV and seemed to work. TV Listing on counter didn't match channel numbers.
Later had other issues with TV.
Bedside lights did not work, either of them.
Bathroom was a surface remodel, but old adhesive drips from sink install remained on sink. Remodel was of poor quality.
Staff was great, breakfast had good variety and items did not run out. Drink dispenser broken but they had pitchers instead.

Overall, for the cost, just not a good value. Property had space, and short drive to amenities, but not close. Weekend rate, especially in winter, should be closer to $120 and rating would have been higher. Staff made it not a one star review.

Everyone was so friendly, the front desk staff from the moment we checked in until we checked out were so helpful and courteous. I ran into problems printing something in the Business Center and even though it was very late at night, I was still helped by the staff. The bathroom was a little dated with some repaired wall damage, but other than that, this was a great value for the money. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice stay near the Greek Peak ski area and Shipwrecks waterpark. We arrived to our room to find it approximately 197°F. We immediately cracked the window, turned off the heat, and engaged the air conditioning device until a more comfortable living temperature was achieved. Staff were friendly. The refrigerator made a bunch of noise. WiFi didn't work that great. The hotel is conveniently located within a short distance of Cortland and Homer which both have quality dining options. The vending machines were apparently recently removed which is peculiar. The front desk has bottled water available for purchase. Didn't make it into the pool, but it was a nice area and I'm sure would be refreshing. It was a nice stay despite the few minor issues.

We booked this hotel so our family could swim in the pool. The indoor “heated” pool was freezing and we could not swim. I gave my kids a warm shower and hot bath. The bathroom door was so heavy it shut on my son’s fingers leaving a welt across his ring finger. The juice and hot chocolate machines were not working at breakfast and we had to go back to the room to grab water bottles .

Stains on carpet (hallway and rooms), broken down equipment, dresser in room had pack of tissues under it to try and keep drawer from coming open. Overall staff seemed to do the best they could with the resources they had. I just expected more from Best Western.
