We loved the location. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The rooms were a good size but the cleaning was lacking. The floors were so dirty we had to wear our shoes inside. The roosters are a major deterrent. They are crowing all the time and it was hard to sleep, even with earplugs. The staff was friendly in person but never in the lobby. They tell you to use what’s app but then didn’t answer most of our questions. The breakfast was very disappointing. It was a small amount of food and very limited options. If you didn’t get there early all the good stuff was gone. It was more of a snack than an actual breakfast
as the options were very limited. It was an okay hotel but if we came back to the island we would find somewhere else to stay.

Hotel Vai Moana – Honest Review

Hotel Vai Moana sits on a beautifully landscaped property with vibrant hibiscus flowers lining the walkways, creating a lush, tropical feel. However, while the setting is picturesque, the overall experience left much to be desired.

The Good:
•Scenic Property: The grounds are well-maintained, adding to the island’s natural beauty.
•Convenient Location: Within walking distance (1-2 miles) of markets, restaurants, oceanfront views, and some Moai statues.
•Quiet and Rustic: If you’re looking for a simple, no-frills stay immersed in nature, this might work for you.

The Not-So-Good:
•No Air Conditioning & Poor Ventilation: The rooms get very hot, even with windows open. No screens on windows or sliding doors, so leaving them open invites bugs. A small tabletop fan is provided, but it’s not enough.
•Sparse Rooms & Amenities: Rooms are very basic, dimly lit, with no fridges and limited towels. Beds were okay but not particularly comfortable.
•Limited WiFi: It only worked (sporadically) in the reception area.
•Minimal Staff Presence: While we eventually saw one or two additional staff members helping with breakfast, there was little assistance otherwise. The main staff member we interacted with was courteous but inexperienced. Requests, like pool towels, took a while, and the ones we received looked like old, left-behind beach towels.
•Pool & Bar Hours: The small pool is not well-maintained and closes at 7 PM—before sunset. The bar do

Good experience

We had a good stay. The staff made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The room, which was one of their newer, better ones was stylish and comfortable. The biggest complaint is that there was a lot of noise from barking dogs and crowing roosters in the immediate surroundings at night (this is probably common at many other hotels on Easter Island, which has a large dog and chicken population). The location, however is close to the park and the shore and only a few blocks' walk from town. The wifi was broken for all the four days we were there, but services on Easter Island are not as reliable as in more populated and developed places.

Basic but enough

The hotel is located to the north of the city so you have a walk to go to the center, if you hire a car as we do, the location is not a issue. The room was enough but not luxury, the bathroom is basic. It has a nice but small swimming pool. The breakfast is basic as well.
It's very noisy, there are chicken and cocks around and dogs or wolves so during the night and the sunrise there a symphony of \"animal songs\".
The price is not cheap (around 200USD), so If I come again and find something better for the same price or something similar cheaper probably I won't repeat.

Solid Hotel - Horrible Wifi

The hotel overall was great. Had some issues with the water at first but staff was priompt there. The main issue here is the Wifi is a joke, I mean it goes down every 5 minutes. For international travelers this can be a huge issue, I relied on phone calls and messaging through Wifi so it was a huge pain in my rear.

Very comfortable hotel -- Island Style

We had a very pleasant stay at the Vai Moana. During our stay, they were under construction, but the staff did everything they could to minimize any disruption and it was not a problem. Rooms are basic, but clean and functional. The shower pressure was good and the hot water readily available. Plenty of outlets for chargers and the WiFi signal was as strong as anywhere on the Island. The WiFi is a little slow all over the Island but the cell signal was fairly strong. Continental Breakfast was very good with lots of options. Nice pool, but not heated. We would stay there again if we visit the Island.

Perfect for our needs....

...reasonably priced and easy walking into town...accomodating staff to set-up tours if you're not renting a car. Breakfast was sufficient and we out out for lunch and dinner. ...friendly staff, nice reception area and well kept grounds. Safe neighborhood and nice local flavor. Wake-up to to the roosters crowing!

Der var ikke rigtig wifi, ikke på værelset men ved baren og morgenmadstedet.
Men man skal være opmærksom på kakerlakker både uden og inde i værelset. I sær på badeværelset om natten. En god ide er at lukke døren der ud til. Vi sagde det flere gange til dem men uden held. Samme når man sidder og spiser morgenmad. Det er ikke så lækkert. Men ellers er renlighed og høfligheden god.

Chambre propre conforme a la description. Cependant il manque un mini bar pour mettre de l'eau au frais. Je ne savais pas qu'il y'en avait pas, et n'avions pas d'eau fraîche. Une fontaine a eau au niveau de l'accueil aurait été appréciable pour palier a ce manque.
Le petit déjeuner pour 4 personnes est bon mais n'est pas assez fourni, nous devions systématiquement redemander de nous rajouter des portions. (fromage, beurre, confiture...)
La dame de l'accueil est très gentille, souriante et accueillante.
Hotel correct dans l'ensemble, nous avons passé un bon séjour au Vai Moana 👍

Hotel accueillant, proche de la plage, dans la ville mais avec la présence très désagréable des aboiements constants de chiens errants, des coqs et poules. Chambre propre mais d'un confort très limité. Personnel agréable.
