Constructed in 1874 and set in 133 acres of parkland, The Springs is a fine example of a Victorian Tudor style country house. The elegant reception halls still retain all their period features such as oak panelling, beams and stone fireplaces where you will be welcomed with crackling log fires through the winter months.
Nearly all the bedrooms have recently been refurbished in neutral colours with modern white bathroom suites and many have balconies and enjoy picturesque views across the lake and beautifully manicured grounds. All rooms are non-smoking.
The award winning AA Rosette Lakeside Restaurant serves excellent cuisine. Only the finest freshly sourced ingredients are used so the menu is updated daily.
As the name suggests, the restaurant enjoys wonderful views across the lake through attractive floor to ceiling latticed windows. The hotel offers golf, weddings, conference and banqueting facilities.
Also on site, there is a putting green, croquet lawn, coarse fishing on the River Thames, sauna and outdoor pool. The pool was installed by former owner rock star, Ian Gillan, from the band Deep Purple) and is often commented on by guests for its quirky design in the shape of a guitar.

Beautiful property. My only complaint is that everything is extra. For the amount you spend on the room there should be at least a free breakfast included. Very expensive.

We had such a great stay at The Springs Resort & Spa at Arenal! The rooms and grounds were super clean, and everything felt really well taken care of. There are so many amenities, hot spring pools, a spa, restaurants, and even fun activities on-site. The views of Arenal Volcano are amazing and make the whole place feel like a true getaway. What really stood out was the staff, they’re so friendly and helpful, always willing to answer questions or point us to the best spots. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Excellent experience! The hotel is magnificent and the springs are beautiful. The hotel did not feel very crowded. However, there were quite a few families so given the price it did not provide an exclusive experience.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary here and it could not have been better. They upgraded our room and gave us a bottle of wine. The massage I had here was the best I’ve ever had. We can't say enough about the luxuries and comfort of the Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal. This was the best 3 days we have had on our weeklong vacation to Costa Rica! The staff was EXCELLENT. They were very attentive and helpful. Several things stand out about the Springs Resort. The resort is built inside a rainforest. There are natural hot springs scattered throughout the property, the wildlife is extraordinary to interact with. I love the greenery; CLUB RIO is beautiful. There is wildlife, tubing, nature walking, a rock wall and more. We ate lunch at the restaurant. We also ate at the restaurant on the second floor near the springs (can't recall the name of it). The service and food were above average. The traditional Costa Rican dish, Arroz Con Pollo was our favorite. The tour of the Cat feeding was wonderful. The guide is well informed. The overall wildlife sanctuary is well run, and the animals are cared for in such an empathic manner. The night before we departed to Guanacaste, we washed our clothes in the laundry room. I couldn't believe a hotel would provide a convenient laundry room for guest free of charge. The attention to detail at the Springs Resort is second to none. We were sad when we had to leave. We will definitely be lodging at the Springs resort on our next visit to Costa Rica. Thank You so very much to Expedia for adding The Springs to their list of hotels/resorts in La Fortuna. THANK YOU EVEN MORE to the Springs resort staff.

The Springs Resort and Spa far exceeded our expectations. The resort was beautiful, well maintained and guest friendly. The three staff members we had the most contact with were exceptional, Esteban and Carlos, our golf cart drivers and Saul, our guide at the wildlife sanctuary. Every single staff member we came in contact was friendly and helpful, many going out of their way to assist us. Our arrival was especially great. When the reception staff saw my wife had mobility issues, they immediately offered us a complementary upgrade to a first floor room, which made everything so much nicer for us. We will definitely be returning, and we highly recommend the Springs Resort to anyone seeking a fabulous vacation.

The Springs Resort & Spa is a stunning property with breathtaking views and world-class facilities. The setting is truly fabulous, but the overall customer experience can be hit or miss. While there are many dining options, the quality of food doesn’t quite justify the exorbitant prices. We had a great stay overall, but given the cost, we’re not sure we’d return—there are more consistent luxury resorts globally that offer better value for money.

The resort staff knew us by name and were genuinely concerned with our happiness. The food was fresh and delicious from the buffet breakfast to the poolside dining or the sushi restaurant. The beds were comfortable and rooms nice and dark as well as quiet for a good night’s rest after an active day exploring the grounds. We had a blast river tubing and sitting in the springs as well as having smores by the firepit. The wildlife animal tour was incredible. Will definitely return.
