Hotel was absolutely lovely, however the service in the restaurant was very slow and staff were just hanging about chatting and ignored us for quite a while to bring menus, take the order, clean plates etc. They automatically add on the service to the bill.
We had 2 cookies and 2 soft drinks on arrival £17! An excessive mark up!

Lovely place in a stunning setting, would have without a doubt been 5 stars across the board until we went for breakfast. Food was very nice, but we were sat at a table that wasn’t the best situated and felt a bit close to others when better tables were available and offered to other guests but not us. Table hadn’t been cleaned properly and there were marks on the glass. Getting the attention of staff was an issue and I didn’t want to bring this up in front of other paying guests. We then sat there nearly 30 minutes without the table being cleared or being asked for any further drinks, then another 10 minutes to get the bill, left us with little time to get back to our room and pack before our checkout time.

Totally luxurious and relaxing experience. The surrounding river environment and villages idyllic. Well appointed room and comfortable bed. The Coppa can sting you a bit with service fees but good service food and atmosphere. Loved the Peirpont Cafe across the bridge for breakfast or lunch

The riverside setting is wonderful and design superb, but the hotel lets itself down with maintenence issues, and the enormous Coppa Club is beautiful but chaotic, serving food that can only be described as 'average' at that are definitely not, with friendly but poor service. I was part of a party booking a lot of rooms over different platforms, since the venue was near to a wedding we were attending.

Unfortunately, several had issues. My daughter's initial room featured a constant, throbbing vibration neither she nor I could tolerate (it's inappropriate to offer it). A friend turned on her basin tap and if fell off in her hand. Both were offered alternative rooms. Room service was negligible: we came back to a shabbily made bed and nothing else addressed, such as dirty cups, and our milk wasn't replenished so I had to ask for more.

Our room was great but there was no net behind the curtains so, since we were road-facing, we couldn't dress for the wedding in natural light. Other guests had nets. Some rooms offered free little pots of honey for guests. Ours didn't. It was odd.

The worst bit? Dinner took more that an hour to arrive for some people and was no more than adequate. Breakfast was even worse: burnt offerings at exhorbitant prices, coffee that arrived after I'd finished eating. Staff were charming but seemed in a consant state of confusion.

Despite all this, the hotel is almost perfect. But it needs to pull up its socks.

Nice hotel in a beautiful area, staff were polite but not very friendly. I did feel that I was being ripped off as the prices were top end and the quality wasn’t.
DO NOT ask for a taxi, they organised a cab from central Reading that charged £40 for a 2 mile 10 minute journey at 3:30 in the afternoon!! Totally shocked at this.

Staff were good. Poor nights sleep though as the room we had on the upper floor was far too hot and uncomfortable to sleep in ( not sure how people cope in summer as it was 10 degrees outside) . No other rooms available as there was a wedding going on at the hotel .They had already provided a fan in the room ( so they must know about the issue) which we had to use all night as well as keep the Juliette balcony door open. Food in the restaurant was ok but service and staff were very good. Leaving disappointed , especially given the cost of the room.

The property is lovely, scenic in beautiful surroundings. We stayed in a comfy double room for 1 night which was fine and we appreciated the amenities in the room (iron/ironing board, bottled water etc). It was generally clean, with some minor points. The soundproofing isnt great as you could hear people in the corridor and the neighbouring room but thankfully it was a peaceful night. The staff were friendly and overall it is a nice Hotel and I would stay again.

We were dissappinted that breakfast was unavailable in the morning as it was fully booked. We did ask the day before and were told there was no need to book and to just go to the restaurant in the morning. We understand it was Mothers Day that morning but we should have been told to book a table for breakfast. The fact that we were hotel guests didnt mean anything.

The hotel itself was great however the restaurant really let itself down. It was New Years Eve and understandably busy however we were left with empty drinks for thirty minuets and a number of other issues.

I would love to stay at the hotel again because that side of it was gorgeous and well organised but I would not return to the restaurant!

Booked 3 rooms of same style for 1 night for offsite wedding. Location is idyllic. 2 other rooms were modern and spacious, our room was cosey (double sloping roof eves). Our only issue was tiny wardrobe with room safe and ironing board which would not take our wedding outfits. Light switches took a while to work out, suggest you label. Had to ask for milk but staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was to a high standard but pricy as you have to pay for each item. Didn’t use restaurant but Coffee shop was good. Hotel entrance is by rear car park. Had enjoyable stay and would recommend Hotel.

We stay here once each year for a function in London and we’re never disappointed. Staff are friendly and professional, which in our book is what makes a hotel special. The setting is lovely, right next to the river, and transport links into London are excellent. We always try to get a certain river suite so we can enjoy some time on the balcony watching the river and wildlife. We didn’t eat in the restaurant this time although we had breakfast one morning, which was pretty good, albeit a bit expensive if you don’t get it in with your room price. All in all, another lovely stay and we will definitely be back ! Dave & Caz

Loved the access to the river and the small boat facility. Lovely grounds. Some good restaurants nearby. Was a little bit cold with the air con on and every window and door open in the evening. Cab availability was expensive due to the fact they had to come a fair distance from their base. All in all though, a positive experience. We shall certainly return.

Not a proper hotel, more like a series of rooms between a bar and a restaurant where the room corridor was used a a thoroughfare between. The rooms have no soundproofing so good luck trying to get any sleep when people are just standing around drinking (and drunk) in the corridor outside up to midnight. Clearly the restaurant is the reason any of this is here so I can see it would have some use for group functions, but this place not at all suitable for families or business travellers.

The hotel was fabulous, very clean and modern in design with beautiful fixtures and fittings. The bedroom was very large with a king size bed but did not overlook the river as was specified on the website, but was to the side of the river overlooking a seated garden with river in the distance. On entering the bedroom the throw on the bed was found to be covered in stains which we were extremely disappointed with and this was removed by a member of staff immediately. The bathroom was fabulous. Overall our stay at the hotel was very pleasant and breakfast was very good and service excellent. The area the hotel is located is very pretty with restaurants close-by should you wish to eat out. An excellent location to stay for a few days.

One of my favourite hotels ever

I love this hotel, this is my third stay, first time with the family.
The hotel overall is gorgeous in beautiful surroundings.
The restaurant was lovely as was the food and the cocktails and the service was impeccable.
The room was a family room and was huge! No falling over each other loads of space, plus an added touch the fan was already running when we got there as it was a warm day, thank you.
Tiny issue with team doors banging in the morning (not unreasonable time but nonetheless) but this will not stop booking another visit at all.

Terrible night's sleep.

Terrible night's sleep. We stayed in a room a few feet away from a very loud wedding disco. When I complained thry said a mistake had been made and thry should have either booked a room further away or told me about the wedding. Although I had very little sleep I was given a full refund. The dinner and breakfast was fine, sltaff were very good and a beautiful location. If only thry were more organised in their room allocations I would have given a 4 star review.

Only bugbear is that the service at breakfast is ok if you've got all day but not great if you want to get a move on. Why aren't you like other hotels where I can help myself to juice and cereal and that will shave 10 - 15 minutes off the time?

Loved everything about our stay - hotel was lovely and in a beautiful setting next to the river, food in the restaurant was superb.

The only downside was the hotel’s response to there being no water in our room in the morning.

I tried several times to contact reception on the phone, but it was engaged every time. When we went down for breakfast and I spoke to the receptionist, she was sat playing on her mobile phone and her response was very dismissive - “oh yeah, a few rooms have reported the water is out and the gym too”. I’m surprised that in this situation there wasn’t more effort to proactively contact guests and apologise, perhaps make alternative arrangements to allow people to shower etc.

Unfortunately the issue wasn’t fixed before we checked out and so we had to leave without being able to shower. There was no attempt to apologise, let alone offer any kind of reimbursement for the poor experience.

A disappointing end to an otherwise lovely stay.

We had a really great stay at The Coppa. The hotel is dog-friendly, and the food was fantastic — we enjoyed lunch, breakfast, and dinner there during our stay.

Our room didn't have air conditioning, and we arrived during particularly hot weather. Being on the ground floor, we didn’t feel entirely comfortable leaving the windows open overnight, as our room overlooked the entrance and carpark, and there’s no gate or barrier and it felt a bit exposed.

That being said, the positives far outweighed the negatives, and I would definitely stay again. A great spot for a weekend away, especially if you’re bringing your dog along!

Room (50) was okay, bit rough around the edges where some of the lights didn’t work next to bed and desk, window missing sash stops so unable to safely sleep at night if window partly open and unlocked. No aircon so fan helped a little as room very hot. Shower temperature all over the place as one second cold, next second hot and temperature gauge appeared very temperamental. Was great to have a mini fridge in the room and complimentary milk/bottled water. Location is great for some nice walks and very near to several local pubs, including Coppa Club and Lobster Bar.

The Swan is in a lovely position overlooking the Thames. We had a nice spacious room overlooking the gardens and river.

I love this hotel. It is beautiful and has so many amenities! First class. This is my second stay here and I can’t wait till the next one. The staff is awesome! I came in on an early flight and Tonya was able to get me into my room by 10 o’clock because it was empty that night before. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that after spending 12 hours flying. Hotel is beautiful, the Thames Riveris beautiful, the staff is amazing. I have to say is the finest hotel I’ve ever stayed in Europe. The view is breathtaking. This Swan is perfect!💕

A pretentious hotel, aimed at Henrys and young set. It is a skandi/ alps chalet style - stripped floors with trip hazard rugs, cold public areas when just sitting. A warren of long corridors to get from A to B. Expensive restaurant and bar.
Room was clean but again bare boards with thin rugs. Taps at bathroom basin are difficult for arthritic fingers to turn and water difficult to adjust. No plug so unable to hold water ( not eco friendly). no lift so be prepared to carry luggage. Quite pretty outside. Ok for one night but won’t return.

Absolutely thrilled with our recent stay at The Swan at Streatley! From the moment we walked in, we felt warmly welcomed into a haven that perfectly balances family-friendliness with a sense of luxury. Our family room was spacious, and even with two teenagers in tow, there was more than enough room to relax comfortably , no cramped feeling whatsoever!

Our family dog, Margot, was treated like a VIP herself, greeted with her own treats and a cosy blanket, making this one of the most dog-friendly hotels we've ever visited. She loved roaming the beautiful grounds and felt just as pampered as we did.

The attention to detail here is exceptional, from the lush bedding to the thoughtfully curated amenities. The shower products were so divine that we couldn’t resist picking some up from the on-site spa as a lovely reminder of our stay.

The atmosphere is wonderfully friendly and relaxed, yet every corner of the hotel exudes a tasteful elegance. We left feeling refreshed and already planning our next visit. Truly deserving of 5 stars!

Great hotel in a lovely location

This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in here in the UK - big room, river view and balcony - huge bed and large bathroom. On a sunny day the deck chairs by the Thames were a beautiful location for a morning coffee. Good value for a mid week stay.
