There was no customer service at all. When we arrived all i got was 'fill the form, this is your room' and when we checked out the lady on the desk didnt even acknowledge us.

A little tired in the bathrooms but overall good
When we arrived through the back entrance (road was closed at front) the building looked in poor condition. Once we arrived at front and entered the building our impression changed. Rhe reception was clean and modern and the receptionist helpful and polite. All the rooms we had (4) we large and comfortable. So of the bathrooms could do with a revamp but the majority of them clean and functional. We slept well. It was quite considering the hotel was on a main road. We had a drink in the bar, again this was a large modern area. Drinks were reasonable and again staff polite. We didnt have breakfast so unable to comment. Overall we didnt expect much as the price was very reasonable but we were pleasantly surprised.

The hotel boasts of a nice location. On entry it looks like a building site. There is debris and temporary fencing all over the place. The reception was nice. The receptionist was in jeans and a T shirt, no uniform. We were told that there was no bar service until 18:00hrs. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The outlook was on to a grotty courtyard full of cigarette butts. The window had no block on it, it opened fully. The bathroom was fine, but old. The basin light did not work. Towels were nice and provided toiletries were very good. We did sleep well albeit there was a lot of noise from an adjacent room early in the morning. We did have a drink at the bar. It was fine but the bar person was dressed as if for a nightclub. Very short dress and extremely high shoes. No thought for corporate image. In all it was budget and not great but it catered for our needs and we slept well.

The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot - although the shower curtain was one of those horrid ones that cling to you at the slightest hint of water being introduced! I initially started to regret making this booking as I drove up to the building. It looked like there was a lot of building work going on. Parking was sufficient, staff were friendly, the rooms were clean although a little tired. I have paid double the amount for rooms in other hotels in the past that were of a similar standard. So whilst it wasn’t the best room I’ve stayed in, for the money I’d say it was acceptable. Breakfast wasn’t the best in terms of menu choice, but was still reasonably tasty and hot. I was pleased my room had a balcony, but was disappointed I couldn’t access it. On the whole, don’t be put off by the exterior. It’s a little dated but good value for money

The shower in the bath room was awful and needs a good clean, no plug for the bath but where the shower was so built up with lime scale you couldn’t have a good shower. Lift also wasn’t working so had to carry suitcase up 4 flights of stairs with no offer of help. Came back on the Saturday night and cleaners had been in to our room made the bed and gice clean towels but fail to close our door fully so wa slept open for over 12 hours, thankfully nothing was taken.

As this is an older hotel the exterior could do with some love and attention, but the interior was clean and tidy. £68.50 for a twin room was a fairly decent price and the rooms were a decent size and comfy. There is no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Enquired about breakfast as it's not included. £9.50 per person for breakfast is a bit steep so didn't take up the offer.

Its not a five star hotel but the rooms are comfy. The rooms were all decorated by someone who didnt pay attention to the little things and some little things need fixing . However don't let this put you off as its a perfectly fine hotel and place to stay. Its a mile from the Motorway and 2 miles from Reading too, you can walk to reading in half an hour. Rooms get cleaned daily. Rate it 7/10. Nice and cheap. Better looking inside than out.
