A little out of the way from the city centre, but that can be resolved via a short cab ride. Excellent customer service and amazing rooms make up for it and there is plenty of parking. Definitely stay here again and would highly recommend the Voco Reading by IHG.

Everything was much as expected, friendly staff, clean tidy rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast. Not too busy even though the hotel is connected to the Football Stadium and there was an evening match - that did mot affect us, stadium activity did not disturb the peace of a quiet 4th floor room.

Rooms not the most up-to-date but perfectly adequate. (Remember to bring your phone charger - no USB outlets in the rooms, but you can borrow from reception).

Good hotel but the room was cold - I complained and was told someone would come up and sort thing - I waiting 30 mins no one came!
I phoned back to reception but was told they could warm the room centrally - no improvement so put a few layers on, I mentioned it again at reception when checking out but no gesture or offer which made the score poor!!!

Whilst the hotel was large, the staff didn’t seem equipped to deal with more than one thing at once.
Drinks at the bar took 25 mins to come to the table (we were the only table in there). At dinner we asked for some broccoli for the children as zero veg on children’s menu. They served broccoli with adult mains but the chefs refused to give any of this as a side for children. They said it was too expensive (even though we offered to pay).

Fine for adults wanting a room but wouldn’t recommend for food, drinks or being family friendly.

Family room was fantastic. Two superking beds plus a comfy camp bed. Fantastic. Excellent menu choices in the restaurant for dinner & the staff were really attentive & friendly.
A couple of things to improve on…very limited vegan options for brekkie. Our daughter is dairy-free & butter was the only option to put on toast, no margarine etc. It’s a minor point but so easy to put right.

Staffing was awful in the bar. Took half the plates left the rest until we left. Probably could have left without paying thats how much attention we got. Went to the toilet to find one of the staff members on the toilet just chilling on their phone when we had been waiting for out the rwst of out plates to be cleaned and drinks to be ordered. Awful service. Checked out, never even asked how our stay was. Ok hotel but terrible service.

The bed, pillows and duvet was 1 of the most comfortable I've slept in, top quality. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Didnt eat there but there were options that looked good. The hotel felt spacious, modern and well maintained. Plenty of parking and several retail parks close by.

We love the room type. A wide floor to ceiling window provides a bright and panoramic view. Room is clean and big. You have all amenities you need. The day we check in is my daughter’s birthday. Staff wrote her a birthday card and prepared a birthday treats for her. That’s lovely.

Family suite

Room although a suite ( two king size beds and sofa bed) was internal and therefore no outside windows which was disappointing considering the online photos. Therefore room dark with very little natural light. The bathroom had a shallow, very narrow bath with shower curtain, again disappointing either put a proper bath in or just a shower. Have to say bedding was very good and comfy.

All very good except the TV

Everything from check-in to chec-out, cleanliness, breakfast is very good. The Not good thing was the TV which except the very few free tv channels didn’t have anything else. Couldn’t connect to a phone or laptop or the internet. A useless flat screen tv.

Hotel was a nice 3 star level with a good breakfast with vegan options eg pancakes!

Swimming booking process is rigid and not flexible and so more oriented towards business users rather than families. There should be a free for all session on a daily basis.

Great family stay

Really pleasant stay on the way home from holiday. The room was massive and great for a full family stay. With two king size beds and a single bed. The pool was nice for a little relax after being in the car all day but be warned you have to book slot, luckily some one did not show up to there’s or the kids would have been disappointed as the only ones available when we arrived was 20:00, so book early. Would stay again.

Property is basically a holiday inn. Despite being built into the Reading football stadium, they do not have Sky and my son and I were unable to watch premiere league games. They sent us to their sister holiday inn (funny that) saying they would have it. But they didn’t. All a bit shoddy and low end for what we paid

We were a family of 5 staying at the hotel.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was tidy. The swimming pool was great and not crowded.

They could do better with the tiles above the bath tub . It has some limescale which made it look a bit dirty.
The windows in the rooms have no white curtains. When we move the curtains for light to come in, anyone can see us from outside. The door does not have security chain. This made me feel insecure overnight that an intruder may come in overnight while I am sleeping.


Breakfast is good and healthy but not a lot of options.

Overall, I like the hotel but I will strongly suggest they put security chains or locks on the doors.

The staff was polite and friendly. The pool and breakfast was great. Our issue was the room.
The blinds for the windows were not clean, bathroom didn't really have much privacy since you can see the silhouette of the person showering as well as the toilet. And the room I had only had 1 sliding door to the bathroom from the bed but other side was open to the front door.
The other issue I had was the sheets appeared clean but we found some sticky stuff on the blanket. The staff was able to get us clean sheets. But at this rate, it ruin my night.

Upon arrival I learnt the AC was malfunctioning for odd room numbers however my room was even number. 33 degrees in the room with a 1 yo and 4 yo who couldn't sleep. Extra fans were provided. Partial refund offered by Mgmt although took 3 months to actually have it processed

Overall a good stay

We didn't realise the hotel was attached to Madjeski Stadium until we arrived on a match day. We checked in just after kick off though so most fans inside the stadium by then. Check in was very slow. We did receive apologies and told that the IT was failing however, service in other areas and later was also slow. Staff were polite courteous and helpful though.

The room was lovely. Spacious, air con, complimentary water and the bedding was extremely comfortable.

Do not use the recommended Top Cars cab company. We and many other guests experienced problems with them.

We stayed here on a Friday night. Didn’t use the pool or bar. Bedrooms ok but shower pressure is low so could be an issue if you have lots of suds in your hair. Breakfast we booked and had lots to cater for different tastes. Would stay again.

The VOCO in Reading was our last stay after a 9 day trip with overnight stays in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and London, and the BEST stay of the entire trip. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like five star guests in a five star hotel. The front desk was so helpful in making recommendations and offering to arrange taxi service, and then rescheduling that service when I needed it. The restaurant was great with fantastic hours; despite checking in late after 8 PM, we were still able to enjoy a great dinner and drink in the hotel bar. The restaurant and bar staff were also top-notch. We had a party of three, with two adults and a 13 year-old and had special requests about dining the next day. When we were arrived for dinner, even though we had a different server, they were aware of what we had shared the night before and fully prepared. We stayed for two nights and the accommodations were extremely comfortable. From being from America, we are used to air-conditioning and the air-conditioning in that hotel was great – the best of any hotel across our trip. We can’t speak more highly about the service. The only drawback, and it’s very small, there was no coffee or tea in the room and you needed to go down to the restaurant and I pay for a cup (or it was included if you dined in for a fee). Overall, this hotel was fantastic and probably the best service we’ve ever received while traveling.

Wonderful family stay

2 night family stay with my wife and 2 young kids which was a treat for our 13th year old daughters birthday weekend which we combined with a trip to LEGOLAND. Check in was quick and easy. The room was amazing which the girls loved, especially a “big” bed to themselves. We used the indoor swimming pool on both days which was a good treat for all. Breakfast was amazing with so much food. Plenty of parking with a quick and easy check out. We will definitely be back!!!

We had a lovely one-night stay at Voco Reading as a family. Parking was easy, and the staff were so welcoming—especially Leon, who gave us great tips on where to go for my daughter’s birthday. The highlight was coming back to find a mini cake and birthday card waiting in our room, such a thoughtful touch!

Our family stay at voco Reading was truly enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and well taken care of. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day out. My family was really happy with how cozy and well-maintained everything was.

One of the highlights for us was the pool—it was clean, well-kept, and a great way for the whole family to unwind and have fun.
