Excellent location for transport (Reading Station/RailAir etc), a great welcome when I arrived from the reception staff, room was clean and comfortable and breakfast had a wide choice of foods. What more could I ask for? Will definitely use again and have already booked another stay in 4 weeks. Thank you!

Room was clean and a good size. Bathroom door didn't close and tv didn't work. We reported the door to staff who offered a change of rooms but as we had unpacked we stayed put. Maintenance didn't turn up to fix it however. One of the lifts was out of order.

I had one night in Reading and this was perfect for that. It's a super easy walk from the train station, and very easily walkable to the city center. There were lots of great options for food and shopping. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe during my whole stay. The room was simple, but comfortable, and there was a nice touch with the kettle and some hot drink options in the room.

I’ve stayed in the ibis a few times when I’ve been here for work. The rooms are clean, but sometimes the corridors leading to the rooms are less clean. For the price, the rooms are comfortable but one thing I value is that they’re always quiet. I normally prefer to stay in other hotels when I’m here but the ibis is a perfectly reasonable hotel!

Suggestions: muffins and non microwaved scrambled eggs (because they tasted hard), and the option to have fried eggs, seeded bread and grapes.

Tired rooms with maintenance issues

Stayed two different nights in one week and had issues in each room. First night the tap was loose fitting and moved each time you changed temperature. The air con wouldn’t cool the room so had to keep window open which was noisy. The second night after unpacking we found the tv wasn’t working. This is the second time this has happened. Got moved to a new room where the shower sits in the holder, it wasn’t tight so the shower head was not at the right angle and only pointed down so had to be held to have a shower. The area around the base of the tap was dirty/mouldy. All rooms we were in looked tired and needed a refresh and bit of maintenance. The best thing about the hotel is the location.

Friday night stay with friends

Basic and poor service

Stayed before. Air conditioning now only gives out heat due to the “time of the year” even though it’s 19c outside and 300c in the room. Tap in bathroom has no water pressure.

Tall male at reception had no care, no customer service and refused a fan and according to the lady the following morning at checkout said they have lots of fans.

The room was a fisabled access toom that I was given on the 11 th floor. The carpet in front of the bathroom was damp, the shower curtain was black at the bottom of the curtain and in need of cleaning or replacing. The air conditioning was not working and the room was very hot.

Utterly hideous bed. If you like sleeping on concrete, this is for you. I got about 2 hours sleep and in the morning i felt like i had been pushed down stairs.

I rang reception about 7pm to see if they had a mattress topper, any rooms with softer beds or even another quilt. The man on the desk could not give a toss and just said NO NO NO. didn't even listen to my reasons.
He said house keeping had gone home.

So in a big hotel in the center of Reading, you will not get any help at all after 7pm.

Zero parking here, due to it being slap bang in the centre! Parking was a 10 min ish walk. Car park is reduced from £14 per a 24hr period, to £7 when the hotel validate your parking ticket. Issues with room. Moved room, then issues with second room. Offered a complimentary breakfast which was mediocre at best. Couldn’t fault the staff. All polite and helpful.

The reception area appeared to be understaffed because I had to wait a while to be seen on 2 occasions.

Staff- Polite, friendly and approachable.

Room: Bed was comfortable, firm mattress and a good height. Pillows nice and firm.

The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, I had to clean the toilet and the sink had a couple of little black particles (looked like fluff), on the
sides.
Flooring in the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly.
The carpet outside the bathroom was filthy. Window should have been open to let air in.
The bedroom chair wasn't comfortable, should be padded.
Tea selection wasn't great, (only one peppermint teabag).

Breakfast- the scrambled eggs had water in it, the food (mushrooms, beans, eggs, and bacon was all cold. The hot chocolate was beautiful though 😍
Great location, close to amenities and local shops. This is the second time I've stayed at the Ibis and I like it, however in comparison to another hotel I've stayed at in Reading, which was slightly cheaper, improvements need to be made.
