This is our go to hotel when travelling to Reading. Hotel is clean, staff friendly, excellent breakfast, pool, sauna. Its location is a short walk to the town centre and the Oracle shopping area and canal side restaurants. The train station is also a short walk to take you into London, Windsor, Oxford or any other places to visit

Novotel Reading is our go to hotel when staying in Reading - this was our 4th stay this year alone. Reception friendly and professional as always. Requested room at back of hotel away from Friar Street and given room 903. Smaller room than we usually have, but fine for one night. Once again couldnt get the bath to switch from shower to fill the bath - same problem as previous stay in room 1016. Staff came up to see if could be solved but couldnt - frustrating. Carpets and curtains in room very shabby and no bathrobes or bottled water as usually have. Bed comfy but room very warm even with window open and fan on. Pool lovely as always. Breakfast good choice once again. Already have a booking for next year.

Lovely clean, comfortable hotel right in the centre of Reading, only a short walk away from the train station. The bed was very comfortable (a firm mattress, as I like it). Breakfast options were abundant and the quality was excellent. Overall this place is great value for money, will definitely stay here again!

It deactivated its self 4 times in 2 days. This was a little annoying as we were staying on the 12th floor and the lifts were always busy.

The shower was unbearably hot and appeared to be broken on that setting. There was another shower attached to the bath, but again the fixtures holding it was broken. The sink plug plunger was also disconnected and broken. I did not use the gym or pool as i had planned to and left early instead as i knew i wouldnt be able to use the shower after. Rooms are very plain and boring. Not the premium experience i was expecting. Staff are nice and friendly, however the poor maintenance really let it down.

The hotel is starting to look quite dated now, and the lack of any cool air flow makes for an uncomfortable night, especially when on the 12th floor as we were!
The location is good, and the staff were all friendly, it was more that the rooms suggested they needed to be brought up to standard with modern 4* hotels.

Not a great location, felt unsafe walking from the station to the hotel at night. Windows are paper thin so staying ok the 3rd floor heard every street noise. No water in rooms but reception charge £3.99 for a small bottle. Place felt tired, service was very average. Lifts took forever.

The room presented a clean atmosphere, although it seemed somewhat outdated. The bed and pillows, however, were exceptionally comfortable. I enjoyed a remarkably restful night's sleep. Overall, my experience was quite pleasant. I would certainly consider staying there again.
P.S We noticed that the swimming pools were exceptionally busy, with many children enjoying the water. It appears the high number of youngsters made it difficult for others to find space to relax. Perhaps, some consideration could be given to adjusting the pool's usage guidelines. Implementing time restrictions for children might help to balance accessibility and enhance everyone's experience...

My sincere thank you to Marissa for her amazing commitment to customer service. Due to an imminent Air Canada flight attendant strike in Canada, we were unable to use our original non-refundable hotel reservation date at Novotel and had to rebook with new dates, in effect having to pay twice. I contacted my original booking agent, Hotel.ca, numerous times not to get a refund, because we knew it was not possible, but rather a modification of our dates given the extenuating circumstances but there was no relief. Upon our arrival at Novotel, I spoke with Marissa who immediately helped us. She contacted the booking agent directly to facilitate the modification of dates on her end and approve the special waiver. Marissa was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and made it happen. Once again, thank you Marissa for your compassion.

Great spot in central Reading

Front desk staff were so welcoming & helpful, especially Marissa! Breakfast staff were friendly. Didn’t meet housekeeping but they did a lovely job with the room. Comfortable bed, in a quiet & nice-sized room. Very conveniently located, 3 minutes from the train station & RailAir bus stop (to LHR) — as well as being right by the high street & some nice restaurants. Close to the Oracle mall for more shops and a selection of restaurants along the river.

Sleepless in reading

Room was not made up for 2 as booked , reception said they fix it whilst we were out . When we came back they had but the people who did had left our door on snib so the door to our hotel room was open the entire time . I went and complained whilst my friend checked the room . As you can imagine we were very unhappy , 2 girls staying on our own . They refunded my parking as by way of an apology in the evening but had to chase in the morning. Room was uber noisy no sound proofing, all in all a highly stressful stay which was meant to be a birthday treat.

Reading

Close to train station from where we walked. Good visit. Room was comfortable and well thought out with everything we needed. Check in/out excellent and fast. Breakfast was enough to set us up for the day.

The Novotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was overall clean but the carpet looked like it had been in the wars! The bar was fun if the music was a little loud. The pool was a really welcome facility. Friar Street can have some characters around, but it's very convenient for the station and the shops.

The staff were very accommodating for us and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a little dated and would benefit from a rewire, however was extremely clean and spacious. A huge selection of food available at breakfast. The only negative was the windows would benefit from secondary glazing as the room faced the main high street, and I had to sleep with earbuds in due to the high level noises outside.

Lovely stay!

We had such a good time staying over a weekend! Hotel is in a very good, convenient, central location in the middle of Reading with the train station, bus stops, restaurants, and shops very close to the hotel. Our favourite part of the trip was the free access to gym/pool/sauna/steam room - we had so much fun, the pool is a fantastic size with a few sun loungers around it. We parked at the Broad Street Mall car park (short walk away) - lots of spaces and the hotel gives a discounted rate when you give them the ticket at checkout. Excited to come back!

No sleep as they have a night club across the road playing extremely loud music until 3am

And as an added bonus the fire alarm went of at 7.40 am for 30 minutes with no fire in sight !

Very bad stay, avoid!

I came to the property for my birthday and didn’t get a greeting,
Was asked to produce ID which I have never been asked before.
There was a broken light with made a loud noise without interruption.
The plumbing in the bathroom seems dodgy and broken, the bath didn’t leave the water I had to stay over and try to make the water go down the pipes. There was a lot of dust in the room and it seems it has not been cleaned since person was in the room. There was holes in the sofa.

Good location right in the city centre. Getting to the car park is not easy and the parking spaces are tiny and expensive. Reception was pleasant, and we had a room facing the back of the hotel. View isn’t good but it likely quieter as the other side faces the busy high street with bars and clubs. Room was just fine, only complaint was half a dozen holes in the curtains which makes it look scruffy and unloved. Very clean hotel and room. Breakfast is good quality and Klara the lady running the breakfast room was a ray of sunshine and a real credit to the hotel and its brand. Would stay there again.

Convenient town centre hotel.

Had executive room 1016 for one night. Very spacious, seating area, bath with seperate shower and comfy, although smallish bed. Does look onto Friar Street so very noisy and had to keep windows shut which did mean room got very warm even with AC on. Parking on site very convenient. Staff all very helpful. Pool lovely.
