Sad to see a 4-star facility degraded to a 2-star one. Furniture and electrical items were in a terrible state. Complaints were met with 'we have reported it to maintenance' which basically means that nothing will be done during your stay! Shower head had to be propped up with rope to stop it falling! Wifi was poor and TV that runs on it meant that that programmes were constantly crashing. Netflix, iplayer, ITVX etc needed a paid subscription for access.

Rooms need improved maintenance. They aren't as good as the ones in Kings Road. Lift also in need of immediate maintenance.
Last minute (same day the reservation started) moved me to a room on a fight floor without lift access (4th to 5th floor by stairs) without asking if there was any mobility concerns or if I agreed with the change.

So Sum

The location and property were very nice and clean.

However, it was my worst experience waiting outside dealing with the “confirmation”. I received an email “on the arrival day” asking us to “confirm” our booking by providing ID copies and paying deposit.

Q1. Where was the link to pay deposit? Not mentioned.
Q2. What method did the property want us to provide our ID copies? Not mentioned.
Q3. Did any sentence in the email mention that you want us to send as an attachment / a reply to that email? NO.
Q4. Did any sentence mention once the first requirement (ID copies) is received, the payment link would then be sent? NO.

NOT CLEAR AT ALL. Would not book again.

Communication on how to supply ID / pay deposit wasn't as clear as it could've been.

The bed wasn't the most comfortable and was very squeaky.

The location and business on the ground floor meant we were woke up promptly each day at around 6am.

Good location wouldnt return after communication

Location good and all the facilities you would expect in an aaprtment and good welcome pack.
Communication poor and needs adressed. Issue reported with sink ignored. Also the matress cover was badly stained shower felt like it was poorly installed very loose.
After booking I was asked for ID and a deposit. I assumed this was a scam so ignored.
On the day of my stay I was contacted to ask why I hadn't paid deposit or sent ID. I understood hotels.com advise not sending any money outwith the site but was told if I didnt the stay would be cancelled.
I was also told my deposit would be refunded the day I checked out. This did not happen and in fact was only sent the following day after I emailed to ask.

Good value.

The location is great, just 10 minutes from the main train and tube station and next to all the shops.
The place was clean and it had plenty of kirchen utensils. My studio faced the back of the building which meant i got the sunshine but not the street noise. I would have preferred black-out curtains as the blinds are great for privacy but the sunshine will wake you up in the middle of the night.
Like any other hotel, once the neighbours start turning in for the night, you can hear all the doors shutting.

Clean and comfortable, but would benefit from refurbishment! If flat is on the front of the building, there’s a lot of noise and light from the street, at all hours! There are no blackout blinds, so bring an eye mask! Double glazing reduces the noise, but you’ll need ear plugs if sleeping with windows open. The hot water cylinder only heats up at night, so it’s not unusual to have no hot water in the evenings!

Decent stay right in the middle of Reading

Really decent for what it was. It's super close to and in the middle of the city center for Reading so it was a lot easier to get places because it's also close to the freeways. There's a polish market right next door and bank which made it super easy to get stuff in a pinch. I wish the network was better because it was super laggy. The place was alright it was like a 90s blast from the past three big old tv that you can't stream to and the furniture but I mean for the price it was great to have a full real sized fridge(not as big as stateside but a lot better than baby fridges we encountered), toy washing machine that took forever to dry but at least they had it and a dishwasher that worked. Loved the cleaning and fact everything you need was there it was kinda like a extended stay mixed with like a mariott residence inn minus a free breakfast and free parking. That was a trip though the parking was tiny in that broad street mall parking structure and you have to automatically pay for like a week at the machine. Super hard to manuever a SUV up that tight, steep ramp. The bed was ok and everything was clean. Kinda weird way to check in but that seems to be the thing over there.

I've stayed here a few times now and every stay I have the same issue with the television not working or being available. It's a shame that this makes this accommodation no good. I'm travelling for work, so the basics matter. I've just cancelled 8 weeks of bookings after experiencing 3 weeks of the same problem.

My Stay in City Wall House

The management team is bad , not good responsive on complaints, they tried to twist the problem to the guest instead of solving it.
Lack of communication skills.
Maintenance team is bad as well and not changing an old tools to save money spending on the property.
Housekeeping is unqualified, they left some parts dirty and unclean.

It’s all excellent. The property has well maintenance. Kitchen appliances , bathroom, heater are well-functioning. The location is very good, close to walking street and you can walk everywhere in reading.

This apartment is in a perfect location. I even got a free upgrade from studio to one-bed. The view from the window wasn't very attractive, but the property is clean, well equipped and comfortable. Easy check-in instructions.

It stank of curry and spices. It is being used as hostel accommodation by migrant families with numerous children and people isolating with Covid. There was Rubbish bags and shoes in the corridors which is a fire hazard.
The apartment itself was clean and well maintained
When we arrived after a 3 hour drive we had no key. After a 1/2 hour wait we entered to find someone else’s stuff in our room, which breaks covid rules. We were moved to another room. I would not recommend this place currently due to its use.

Excellent accommodation - I highly recommend

The studio apartment was clean and comfortable. I was not expecting a washer dryer to be included so that was a bonus. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes and utensils you'd require and the bed was comfortable.

The only negative point was that I couldn't work out how to tune into the Sky channels so some directions would have been useful.

The apartment was very clean, tidy and stylishly furnished. The air cos was very good (especially in late August). Check in and check out instructions were very clear and easy. Communication from the management team was excellent. I Would definitely stay here again the next time I go to Reading Festival.

The apartment was excellently appointed with good facilities and a very comfortable bed. Check-in and check-out was extremely easy
If there was one negative it would be that the blinds did not block the morning sun which woke me and my partner earlier than we would have liked.

Nice hotel - needs attention

The apartment itself was great. There were a few hairs in the bed and bath though. The reason for the poor rating is because there was an extremely pungent smell throughout the apartment - which did not disappear even with the windows open. It is a pity as great location and overall clean.

Very handy central location, I was expecting street noise but there was none, probably because the bars are all at the other end of town. Out of hours help is efficient and helpful. Kettle was broken, some fittings were a bit dated. Bed fairly comfortable.

Good central location but be careful of noise

The apartment was lovely with everything you needed for a weeks' stay. Handy for work too. The room was at the front and as such I got all the noise of drunken people each evening and the awful cacophony of buses, road sweepers, boy racers and recycling vans. Had to have windows open but a fan or air con would have been better.
Easy instructions for accessing building.
Bedroom wall shook every time another door was closed in the building which was a little disconcerting. Would happily stay here again but would insist on a room to the back.
No washing up liquid so had to use dishwasher.

Has a good and very modern interior that makes it very confortable. Although there are no carparks provided. Carparks are gery important.
