This is truly a hidden gem! The staff, amazing. The room we stayed in was the oak room, it was fantastic! The resturant on site is too notch! Hats off to the chef as every meal, was absolutely fantastic and better than i would have ever thought! My wife and i pride ourselves in staying in random new places everytime we go somewhere new, this is the first rime we both agreed that when we come back to oxford for travels we'd come back to this hotel for sure 110%

I had a wonderful stay at The George Hotel. I stayed in the beautiful four-poster bedroom called “Ian Fleming,” which was full of character and very comfortable. The room felt spacious and well maintained, and the four-poster bed really added a special touch to the stay.
The hotel also has a great parking facility, which made arrival and departure very easy and stress-free.
Although I didn’t opt for breakfast because I was fasting, I really appreciated that there was a coffee machine in the room, which meant I could still enjoy a good coffee in the morning.
Another highlight was the excellent shower pressure, which made for a very refreshing start to the day.
Overall, a very pleasant stay with comfortable rooms, helpful staff, and convenient parking. I would happily stay again.

Lovely, friendly hotel. We stayed in the deluxe suite and cannot fault it. Large space, very clean, super comfortable bed and seating. All staff are very friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious, we had our evening meal and breakfast and again cannot fault it. Plenty of spaces for parking and we had an added bonus of an extra hour before checkout at no extra charge. We had loved our stay here in a very nice quaint village opposite the Dorchester Abbey which is beautiful.

Also, the toilet in the replacement room was broken, causing it to flush automatically every 5-10mins.
There was what seemed to be pips banging together, which could be heard until then kitchen staff went home. Possibly watershutting off somewhere, shocking the pipes.
I was glad to check out and go home, to be fair.

We stayed in the Superior double in the main building in room 103 (the Poirot room). The room was beautifully decorated with a big comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, plug sockets and even a coffee machine with tea, coffee and hor chocolate provided.

Lovely room, a huge space with a large bed and a seating area. Pointless feature bath, for the Tik Tok generation to post about. A real downer was first the TV stopped working and then no heating at all for the second night. It was freezing as you would expect in a vast room with 18in thick walls. Turns out a fuse popped in another room! Bar area was ok, breakfast adequate but limited choice.

At about 6:30 we went to the bar for a drink and to book a table for dinner only to be told that they could not accommodate us as they did not have enough cutlery!
So we took our custom to the Fleur de Lys down the road where the staff were extremely friendly and the food was good.

We stayed at The George just one night to break up a longer journey. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the overall look and feel of the place was charming and welcoming. Our room was lovely however they could fit a bigger bed to make it more luxurious. The en-suite felt very luxurious with double shower and separate bathtub however it appeared you had to pay for any toiletries as there was a price list for them and they were also luxury prices. Breakfast was included in our booking, which offered both continental and full english though as kitchen staff finished at 9am there was no option of a lay-in even though check out wasnt until 11am.

We had an amazing stay at The George Hotel from start to finish. It certainly exceeded our expectations! What stood out most about the whole experience was how friendly the staff were. Each and every one took the time to acknowledge and genuinely be interested in us as individuals. This alone has made me want to return there, in the future, but that isn’t forgetting how comfortable the room was. The room was immaculately clean and the large bed gave us a wonderful nights sleep. The location of the hotel was perfect, with plenty of parking and in a beautiful village with lots of walks nearby but also near to other villages and towns to visit. We look forward to booking here again.

My experience at the George Hotel was interesting. My room, the James Bond Room, was large (verging on very large and nicely equipped. The housekeeping could have been better with cobwebs hanging on the window frames. The staff were very young and quite inexperienced and I’m not keen on establishments that don’t take cash. The bar prices were eye wateringly high for a ‘coaching inn’.
I didn’t eat at the George as I had a family dinner arranged elsewhere. I was pleased as the menu, in the main, offer the standard pub dishes which I thought was a disappointment. I’m so bored of fish and chips, burgers etc.
