Second time we’ve stayed here and it’s become the preferred option for visiting friends who live nearby in Oxford. It’s recently renovated, super clean and very comfortable. It’s self checkin but lots of comms from staff and a very straightforward process. Also found staff to be very responsive when messaging to arrange a late checkout. Rooms might be a bit small for a multi day stay, but for one or two nights it’s perfect.

Near a bus stop with connections to city centre and train station, easily walkable to restaurants, bars and cafes around Iffley and Cowley Road.

This is a sweet guest house with a walkable location and neighbourhood feeling
The room was certainly cozy with a terrific shower and really good mattress!
It uses a self check-in feature with no available staff yet response time online was swift and helpful.
All in all a nice option from the typical hotel experience…..

We appreciated a cost effective way to have 3 of us in one room (my husband and our 26 year-old-daughter). We had the "Superior Family Room" (Room 7), with 2 queen beds and 1 bathroom, with the beds in separate bedrooms and the bathroom off the slightly larger room. The room was clean and offered a good place to sleep. The downside is that the room is quite tight, and frankly, it's not a good place to hang out, eat, or do anything other than sleep.

I was a little worried that we were too far from town -but that was not an issue, and I was grateful. I had no idea that Oxford was such a tourist attraction and town was PACKED.. the short and frequent busride was a good buffer to get to/from and the bus 3/3A ran quite frequently.

I was also super frustrated. The wifi password was actually an email address. Unfortunately, email addresses will NOT be transmitted through Hotels.com. Thus, I had to ask someone else at the facility for the password (I had to hang out in the hall to wait for someone to come out). I really needed it to get my work done.

So hosts... I suggest that you one or all of the following:
a) change the wifi password to something that it is NOT an email address
b) leave the password in the room (I did eventually see it on the front door)
c) do NOT send it through hotels.com

Very easy to find with the bus stop from city centre just over the road. Outside the property could do with a bit of TLC but inside it was lovely. Our studio had everything we needed though the enormous window onto the patio meant it was very warm! Check in was very easy. Would recommend.

We had a great stay at 192, it was clean and modern. Excellent location for getting the bus into oxford. There is a bus stop pretty much outside the property. You need to get the 3 or 3a, this takes you into the centre or all the way to the train station.
We would stay here again if we came back to Oxford!

We loved staying here! There was a bus from the city center that drops you off right in front of the property. It is also only a 20-25 walk to the main city center with shops and restaurants. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Everything was very clean and we loved the tray with teas and coffee. The communication was very smooth and we heard back promptly when we had questions. We loved our stay and would definitely come here again!

Conveniently located on a city bus route. Walk to town centre takes about 20 to 25 minutes. Large glass wall faced south into the back garden area. The automated check in was easily navigated.

We really enjoyed the location of the hotel, it's easy to access the city center and there are great cafes and pubs nearby. It's a self check-in hotel, but the procedure is very easy, we had no problems with that. Also the staff is very nice and kind and it was easy to send them a message and they've replied very quickly. The room was very nice and clean, it had great water pressure in the shower and the bed was comfortable. The only downside for us was that the front door to the property and the doors to the rooms were banging very loudly, if you didn't hold them while closing. We were staying in the room on the first floor just next to the entrance, so we were woken up many times by those doors.

Good location for a short walk in to Oxford. Ideal for a few days away with plently to do in Oxford. We stayed in the studio at the back which looked out on the garden, had a small kitchen, and a bath. Would reccomend staying in either of the back rooms which have outside seating.

You can hear people coming and going, and doors as they are heavy in the property, but this did not affect our stay or disturb my sleep. This might be because we stayed at the back of the property on the lower ground floor.

Check-in was easy using the kiosk, you will recevie a code a week before your stay which you type onscreen and your keycard is generated. The property are then contactable via Expedia, an email, or by phone with prompt responce times.

The Iffley Road location was handy for both Cowley Road and the towpath. It takes a half-hour or so to walk into the city centre and there is a good bus service if you don't fancy walking.

Nothing actually wrong with no.192 but this was my first experience of staying at an un-staffed hotel and I've realised what the disadvantages are.

* Checking in was frustrating, involving a machine that wasn't very user-friendly
* If you're staying for more than one night, you don't get your room cleaned and you can't get fresh towels or more teabags or whatever
* You can't easily report any issues - in our case, a leaking sink slowly flooding the bathroom floor
* It doesn't feel as safe - there was a guy hanging around on the landing outside our room very late at night.

I reported the sink via email after we left and got a promise they'll look into it. But I don't think I'd choose to stay in a hotel with no reception desk or staff again.

Very nice hotel. Great communication before and during our stay. There’s not a front desk, but there is a very easy check in process. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and in a nice area. If I ever come back to Oxford, would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed staying here. We chose this location because It was walking distance to our friends house. Although it was on the other side of tge touristy area. Location worked for us. It was walking distance from the main bus stop (St Clements Stop C) - which is where buses from Heathrow Airport typically stop.

The place was clean and quiet. There were several other rooms nearby but all guests were respectful. The location is also away from the hustle bustle of Oxford. There is no elevator and we had to take our luggage up the stairs (which we knew). Check in was easy with a Kiosk. We did have an issue with WiFi but were compensated for that by the host. Rooms are small but serve the purpose. Bathroom was clean with a shower (This was absolutely appreciated because lot of places have bathtub that you have to climb in to shower which can be problematic and sometimes dangerous for elderly in the group). We appreciated the standing shower.

Traffic in Oxford can be quite backed up so we do recommend walking (even buses can take longer than walking) . Bus stops can be out of service and one would not know unless you download the Oxford Bus app.

We walked to the area with the ethnic foods on Cowley Road. There is great variety available .

In general area felt very safe and great location with kids to stay

No Response Over and Over

We were recently in Oxford for vacation and a summer course. We booked the studio with kitchenette. The good: the rooms are clean and recently remodeled. The location: The location is a very healthy walk from downtown Oxford. Bus is readily available. The exterior is not what I expected—the building and especially those around it looked worn.
The challenges: 1. Staff members are not on site. They reach out and suggest you email if you need service. 2. We emailed several times with very spotty responses. 3. There was nothing to make coffee. One of the main reasons I booked this room was the kitchenette and terrace so we had a nice place to make and eat breakfast and coffee. There were pots and pans, etc but only instant coffee. I reached out and requested a pour over or French press twice but was declined and then ignored. 3. The hallways or other part of the building seemed to be air conditioned but our room was terrifically hot, even in the basement. Several afternoons it reached around 30 degrees Celsius because it was a direct western exposure and it remained too hot to sleep at night. A note in the room said to reach out if the room was uncomfortable and so I did. Again, I did not even receive a response. The management states that they want good reviews but even this morning when I listed these concerns in a final communication—you guessed it—no response!

Location is great (walk to Oxford town Center in 10 minutes). Property was clean and easy checkin. There is not air conditioning at the property, which is fine. However, there are also no fans and Iffley Road is very loud so having windows open not great. Would recommend placing portable fans in each room. It was not a pleasant experience when the temperature hit 30c.

Great location. Small place, but that was expected and bathroom was very nice.

Have to give 3 stars for 2 reasons: 1) after requesting the cleaners not come, they came anyway. I had my suitcase open on the stand with clean clothes laying folded on each side (not strapped) and a dirty clothes bag on the ground. I guess the cleaners wanted space, so they threw the dirty bag in the suitcase and folded it and moved it. Now my clean folded clothes are sitting crumpled up with the dirty ones. Who does that. 2). Room door has a big gap that lets the hallway light through, and the light is always on, and bright.

My room was very cozy and comfortable. I had an upstairs room in the back with a lovely view. It was very clean and although small, had everything I needed ans was cute. The bed was very comfortable. It was a nice walk to the Oxford « campus » where my daughter was doing a summer study. It wa self check in so the code sent with check in info is needed. My only negative is that there didn’t seem to be a way to contact anyone with concerns. No contact info is on the how-to check in sign. My toilet lid was array which was very minor but if something major was an issue I’m not sure how i would have contacted anyone. However, I would definitely stay there again!!

Extremely close to the bus stop in what feels like a very safe neighbourhood. Busing to the city centre takes about 10 minutes, walking is about 30 but it's very flat.

Cell reception in the area is not great--I could not access my phone data network easily. Wifi connection is great and the password is posted in the check in area. I was told there would be an information folder in the room but could not find it, however the team quickly sent me a digital copy when I requested. No staff are on site but they responded pretty quickly to direct emails (not as quickly to Expedia messages.)

Check in is quick and easy, you enter your information on a kiosk which spits out a room key for you. There is a drop box to leave the key at the end of your stay. The carpet in the hall is pretty stained but hey its where everyone is walking with their shoes on so it can't be helped. Inside the room was pretty clean but there is no mini fridge to keep food or snacks. Soundproofing is not great - you can hear people walking in the hallways and doors opening and closing. I found people were pretty respectful about keeping quiet after 10:30ish.

I stayed for 8 days and housekeeping visited once about halfway through my stay. I wish I had been notified about which day they were coming in advance.

Overall a good place to stay!

Double bed opening onto the garden was nice. Three suggestions for improvement:
1. Four steps from bed up to bathroom. Would be helpful to have a handrail up those steps, especially for elderly and/or in the dark.
2. Heat was off, but plug-in heater does not work (makes noise, but no output) so nights were chilly.
3. Phone reception is poor. Had to step into the garden at night to make a call. Any chance of improving?

A beautiful clean comfortable location

Really clean,comfortable and well appointed rooms. Located within yards of a bus stop taking us to the city centre.
The TV was a little unreliable- probably due to Wi-Fi connectivity but it wasn’t a big issue. There’s ironing boards and irons but the info sheet didn’t say how to find them - in a cupboard on ground floor for future reference. The property was generally quiet and we felt safe. Just about 10 minutes away walking distance was the Magdalen inn which had great food - maybe a tad pricey for our pockets but nevertheless good. I’m that sane street a lovely bakers and a couple of small coffee shops and a general store - although when we visited they had no milk! We found Royal Cars very reliable when we needed a taxi - not often as the buses were great. A taxi to the station was £8. When planning your visit around Oxford be aware of serious traffic holdups particularly around the evening rush hour.

Comfortable stay, but wish there was a fridge.

Overall our stay was great. We slept ok. Our room overlooked the garden and was comfortable and quiet. The only thing we didn’t like was that the room wasn’t serviced during our stay (4 nights). This meant that we ran out of milk sachets for coffee on our second day & they weren’t topped up. Had there been a mini fridge in the room, we could have bought a carton of milk from the supermarket & it would have kept fresh in the fridge.
