Great location for the O2 and free parking was a bonus! The rooms probably reflect the price - quite tired with a musty smell. We had room 2 which was downstairs and next to the kitchen so it was noisy at times (someone had a 1am snack!!)..upstairs rooms may be ok. Entry instructions were clear and simple (key codes)

Perfect Oxford Base!

What a great find!
If you are staying in Oxford Iffley Town House is the perfect place for one two or three nights away.
Located close to the city centre with bus stops both ways literally outside the door, its convenient.
The room was spacious, clean and with great towels and soap provided. There was even a fan and it was a warm night so it was appreciated. Bed was large. Communication and directions to enter the property simple and easy. When I rang the owner as I had a problem with parking I had booked they sorted that for me as there was space outside I was then able to use. Wonderful coffee shop 2 doors down too! Overall definitely a great place to stay!

Would not recommend staying here

The place was okay but I had a lot of issues while staying here which I’ve listed below:
- noisy
- soap (handwash) provided burned hands
- mothball smell which stains clothes
- lots do wear and tear
- if you have asthma wouldn’t recommend staying here
There is no help desk just a number so not most useful in the evening but okay
When issues are reported if they are after the stay they will not compensate you or reply to your concerns even if you send an email.
Stay is 2*ish and is fine if you don’t mind issues above and don’t really care where you stay

Beds were clean & great. Bathrooms very clean. Temp in the rooms very good. Kitchen was lovely with everything available for cooking. The garden was nice. A few cushions for the outdoor furniture would be a bonus. And some touch up painting on inside of rooms & wall’s going upstairs. We had issues with the hot water but when we called there was immediate help. The female cleaning the rooms was very efficient and helpful. Accent chairs in rms appeared to be old and much used.

Have to say this is a very average place to stay .
Positives are it’s very easy to find from the train station and gaining access was very easy .
Negatives - needs a good lick of paint and the bed provided was so uncomfortable I hardly slept .
I would give it a 2 star rating certainly should be charging less for a room

Whilst the room is idyllic, the walls are thin, meaning when others engage in activities such as talking or watching TV, you can hear everything subconsciously when trying to sleep. However, its fantastic location compensates for such matters, especially if it is a weekend night.
While Iffley Town House may not fit the traditional image of a hotel in Oxford, it offers a unique cultural experience for a brief city break in the vibrant heart of East Oxford. It's a refreshing escape from the city's sights, sounds, and exceptional attractions, with a variety of food and drink options available nearby throughout the day.

Property was very clean and well laid out. There was no tea making in the room. Admittedly, I did not check out the shared room downstairs. Two criticisms: I had to chase up the code for the door for my 2nd room I had booked (I received a message for just 1 room). And I had requested the beds to be singles when booking on Expedia app. I further reiterated that request in the Expedia message thread some days prior to arrival. The room was set out as king bed. To their credit, they dealt with the beds after phone calls. However, it should not have to be sorted out whilst I am there and through my effort. It’s unclear if the property people ignored my initial requests or Expedia’s app has glitches in how it shares requests from guests.

Another enjoyable stay

We have stayed at the Iffley Hown House a few times and always enjoy a comfortable stay. The rooms are always spotlessly clean and the communal kitchen is a real bonus.
The property is ideal for concerts at SJE and is 15 minute walk into the city centre so located well.
We hope to see you again next year!

Customer services is not great!

I would have rated the place higher if customer service was better. We had a power-cut and was informed it be sorted out in a couple of hours. We didn't have any heating, lights, WIFI, tv for the remainder of our stay. It was freezing old and we had use our phone torches lights and our phones died because no electricity to charge our phones. As I understood it was a power-cut the next day I tried to talk to the owners for some compensation as I have still used their bed and shower so wasn't expecting a refund or anything. No communication whatsoever since we left and have been chasing them for weeks now. Hence why the low rating as I would have given better rating but customer services isn't great.

Clean, comfortable bed.

However, my room (No. 5) was quite noisy in the morning; one of the bay windows does not shut properly, which might have resulted in a cold room (even with the radiator on). I understand that B&B does not offer shampoo and shower gel. Yet I I do think the room should come with a bar of soap as a necessity.

We felt that such a spacious room should have had a chair each. Perhaps a small table would have added to our comfort. Very comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. We chose Iffley Town House because we needed a short notice stay for an early start for local hospital, so would stay again if necessary.

The check-in process was NOT good. The email confirmation stated codes would be sent ahead of arrival. However, on arrival I realised they had not. In the blistering heat, with poor internet connection on a dying phone, I had to hunt for a phone number, left a voicemail and waited for approx 15 minutes to get my door codes.

Sightseeing trip to Oxford

A perfectly adequate stay for a quick trip to Oxford, comfy bed and good linen, shower very compact and power not great.
No kettle , cups or glasses in room however was a kitchen at bottom of house.
Did have access issues as I didn’t receive the codes as apparently sent, suggest you check you have these 36hours before you arrive.
I managed to park on-site but only 2 places for 8 rooms and very limited on street parking nearby.

The place has a lot of potential and it's mainly clean however our bathroom had mould in the shower and on the walls. Furthermore, there was not even hand soap. Other things were lacking or looked very cheap (e.g., the plastic hangers).

Very convenient for my needs - clean and pleasant room and en suite - on quite a busy road but noise not a problem if windows shut
Communication about codes etc to get in was clear
There was possibly room for 1 or maybe 2 cars to park in front of the building but space was small so I parked locally and walked to the place.
Buses from town centre stop outside. Centre of Oxford is about 10/15 minutes walk away
The only problem was that the room was really hot and there seemed to be no way to turn the heating down ! - and this was on all night so we had to sleep with the windows open
Large clean kitchen downstairs for guests use
Lovely coffee shop around the corner

For a group of students reuniting after many years, the accommodation was ideally suited. However, as there is no reception, access initially proved to be a problem. The owner forwards front door and room door access codes to providers when a room is booked. The problem is that Hotels.com don’t forward these to guests. So we had to contact the owner directly and she forwarded the codes directly to us. Just beware that unless Hotels fixes this, you will need to go through the same process as us.

Instructions to open front door were inadequate. I’m from Canada and I don’t know what a “latch” is. Instructions should say “turn both handles at the same time and push”.

Tried to get help with phone numbers provided, but they DID NOT ANSWER.

Information about buses to get there are WRONG. You need the 3, 3A or X40 to get there.

Finally, put a sign outside the property. Why wouldn’t you? Are they operating this place without a licence?

Iffley Townhouse has no reception/ staff on site and I didn’t receive any access codes. I had to call many times on the day to finally catch someone. Not fun.

Room was ok but smelled strongly of damp ( coming from mould in bathroom I think). Bathroom was tiny with an unusable sink.

I was traveling solo on business & found the Iffley House. It is near some pubs and a local grocery store. Directly on the bus 3/3a route (don’t use the bus directions they send you!). About a 25 min casual walk to city center (or 5min bus ride if not in rush hour).

We booked two rooms and they only sent the combination and room number for one of the rooms. But we were able to contact them and get the information we needed quickly. There was also an issue with the heated towel rack being stuck on. They were very responsive and getting that resolved.

I loved the shower, the towels, and the beds were very comfortable, It would be nice if they provided glasses or plastic cups in the bathroom and something to put suitcases on, everything had to be on the floor.

Overall it was a great place to stay and easy get to the City Crnter. I would stay there again.

There was no soap or facecloths in the bathroom when we checked in. The bathroom was clean but the floor smelled of mildew - the shower must be leaking under the floor. The bathroom had the world’s tiniest sink, hard to use. The bed and clean linens were good. No A/C, just a small fan. The adjoining common kitchen is large.

It’s a modest accommodation; I can see why the charge is so reasonable.

Iffley Town House was an excellent choice for me. My room was extremely comfortable. The weather was rather warm, but there was a fan in the room. The shared kitchen is nice and big, and everything was quite clean. The location is great as it is not too far to walk to the city center where the colleges are, and the river is also a nice area to walk. I loved visiting Oxford, and would be happy to stay in this same hotel/house again if I ever return.

We ( my mother and I) had a wonderful stay at this bed and breakfast. Customer service was excellent and efficient, check in was hassle free, the house is immaculate, our room with twin beds was beautiful (great bathroom), the kitchen was functional and spacious, and the back garden was enchanting. There is a Co-op grocery store a block away and a cafe next door that opens on the weekends. A bus stop right outside or a 20min walk will take you to the city centre. The only inconvenience might be if a room faces the road, it might be noisy as the property is on a main street. Our room was facing the garden, it was a little noisy in the morning the cafe was open.

We didn't stay here because OYO failed to send us the code to use on the front door. I made 3 phone xalls to OYO on the check in day, from 10am onwards. We had booked and paid for 2 rooms. Confusion reigned on the OYO offices; they said there were technical problems. Finally, at 4.15 pm they said they could not locate the keys. We still hadn't had the code for the front door. We were outside the property at the time. I phoned Hotels.com , who then tried to contact OYO, but could not get an answer. A young man arrived and he tried to use a code sent to him to open the front door, but this repeatedly did not work. At this juncture we gave up and had to find alternative accomodation ourselves. I hope to get a full refund from.Hotels.com, but have not heard from them yet.OYO rang me back at about 5.30 to offer alternative accomodation but we had no faith in them at this stage. They said they had not taken our money from Hotels .com.

As they are all parking permits. We drove around for about 30 mins and eventually found a place. Apart from that allnwas very nice.

Nice and clean, quiet, slept well, easy to check in using the codes. The room was a bit small (room 2) but totally OK for one night for sure. Only thing I would say is, even though there is a beautiful kitchen to use, it would be nice to have a kettle and tea etc in the room, so you can have a cup tea early without having to get dressed !

Very clean well maintained property. Felt somewhat vulnerable being totally reliant on key pads to gain entrance to the property and room especially as the 'C' on the key pad to get into the room was stiff and took several attempts to connect. Room was spacious and immaculate, unfortunately the down side was it was in the front of the house facing the main road with the relentless traffic and road works noise .

The credit card used to book the account had expired. Rather than checking us in or communicating in a reasonable manner, once the hotel had discovered this we received several threatening emails and calls whilst we were out at a wedding. Unable to take a credit card over the phone I resorted to doing a bank transfer whilst at the wedding.

Love this quaint townhouse conveniently located near Oxford University. Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated place to stay with all the amenities needed for travelers.

Situated 7 bus stops from the city centre on a main road is this converted Victorian town house. Completely renovated to a very high standard and spotlessly clean.
We were in room 8, a teeny tiny room at the top of the house. The bed was small, and the sink minuscule, but otherwise the room was perfect for our needs (overnight stay after a concert). We chose not to drive and were glad as the two parking spaces were taken up by a van and a car for the duration of our time there.
The only problem we had was that the booking wasnt confirmed until 3pm on the day of our stay so we paid for somewhere else to stay much further out from the city, then were left with two room bills, bit annoying.

The information about the guest house said there was a bar- there wasn't.
Also, in the kitchen there is a STEP ... which i proceeded to trip up as i was carrying the kettle to the sink . I have a black eye and bruises on my legs and arms. There should be a hazard tape across it as all the floor tiles are the same colour.

The general stay was fine. The instructions about check in was very clear through email. The spacious lounge on the ground floor was a highlight for a leisure self prepared breakfast .However, there wasn’t parking space like it’s described online which made our visit very stressful and inconvenient. If I had known there wasn’t parking, I wouldn’t have chosen this place to stay. This was the main reason why we chose one close to city center. On street parking is expensive but it’s not difficult to find 2 hours or even 3 hours free parking alongside the nearby streets. The tricky thing is that you have to come back to remove the car which is not practical for a day visit plan. I contacted the staff before we arrived and quite a few times afterwards, they said it should be fine by 4pm to park my car in front of the house, but there wasn’t any space available for a whole day and night! Next time I would definitely find a place with parking so that we can enjoy our activities in the city without worrying about moving the car every a couple of hours.
