Martyn was a gracious host and room. Ery clean and comfortable. I’ve rated it a 4 as we had to walk into Oxford for breakfast. Having said that, we enjoyed the Sunday morning walk. Would stay again and highly recommend.

Great to have onsite parking and we were lucky to get a space for our 2 night stay although a car park was only another 5 mins walk away. I booked less than 2 weeks ago. 24 hours got an email from the owner. Woe is me on about small business. No breakfast and has not been for a long time. The property was well maintained and nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable. Shower was lovely. No breakfast served anymore but we didn't need it as we had breakfast plans. I loved having instant hot chocolate and a kettle in the room in addition to instant coffee and tea.The staff were really nice and helpful. Fairly close to the centre and easy route as it's on a main road but not noisy. I'd recommend it and would stay there again.

Small but adequate accommodation with car parking
The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom very small but adequate for our 2 night stay. Being an old building the floorboards are loud and squeaky, so grateful for being on the top floor and not the room below. The shower was great the first day, however the temperature got stuck on scalding hot the second morning and was unusable. The walk to town is direct and only 15min. The parking was a real bonus and adds value to the stay overall.

It was in a good location with nice furnishings and hosts. A king sized bed would have suited us better. Unfortunately other guests on the creaky floorboards above woke me up much earlier than id have liked and appeared to walk around for a full 90 minutes so I would recommend asking for the highest floor.

Great safe secure parking. We were met by the friendly owner who gave us maps of the local area. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was newly decorated with lush carpet. The house was warm and welcoming. The bed was so comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee etc. bus stop right outside. 15 minute walk to town. Lots of earring drinking places nearby. Great value for the money. We would definitely book again.

While this small hotel is situated on a main road in Oxford, it was still a very nice facility to stay in. Buses are easy to catch into town, and there are several nice and small restaurants close by that are easily walked to. Even though they don’t serve breakfast, they are accommodating with their facilities if you purchase food locally and need to store something, along with providing dishes and cutlery. The rims are very comfortable, and the en suite bathroom is very nice. Would recommend this property without hesitation.

Great location, easy walk into Oxford city centre. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Amirr. We arrived early hoping to drop the bags off, but we were lucky and our room was ready so able to get straight in. The car park around the back has spaces for 6 cars, so advise to get there early, it was about 11.30am when we arrived and were only car there. It is an old building but has been renovated tastefully with neutral decor throughout. The en-suite whilst quite small was perfectly functional with a good shower and plenty of shower gel etc. The fan in the room was a very welcome addition on a warm night.

Furnishings and cleanliness were excellent. 2 drawbacks- if you were elderly, or not in the best of shape, carrying cases to the top floor would be a difficult task. Newton House was clean, comfortable and well presented. The welcome was friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room was spacious and well equipped with a lovely bathroom and good shower. It was a pleasant walk into the city and had we had more time we would have taken advantage of the proximity to the river walks and Christ Church Meadow. Our room did face the road, but with good double glazing and less traffic overnight we were not disturbed. There are two pubs very close by. The high score on Expedia is well earned.

It was really easy checking in. There is first come first served free parking at the back. It's a really close distance to the town centre and is walkable in nice weather. The room was spacious and clean with plenty of space. The bathroom was modern and had a Good warm/powerful shower. There is a working TV and kettle on the room. The only downside was the lack of towels. There was only one bath towel.

The rooms are basic but the shower was fab. No breakfast, but we knew that.
Oxford town centre is easily walkable. Parking is limited to a small yard around the back of the hotel. We got parked ok, however it’s in an area where there’s mostly residents parking only, so it could have been awkward.
Having said all that, I’d stay there again.

We had a twin room facing the street and initially was concerned about noise upon arrival. But after rush hour passed it was fine. Beds were comfortable. Thankful a fan was provided in the room as it was a little warmer than usual outdoors. For Americans, please note that Brits use duvets-no top sheets. Since it was warmer outside the duvet was a little warm for sleep. Opening the window & using the fan all night definitely was needed. Shower head pressure was weak but it sufficed. This was our last B & B at the end of 3 weeks in the UK and was our least favorite of everywhere we stayed-but the price was right, plus it was a close walk to the city center & Oxford campus. Good restaurants are nearby:Tap Social and Head of the River (right on the Thames) were great. Bus stop nearby too. If you’re “decor sensitive” the purple flowered wallpaper behind the beds didn’t work well with the light blue & white hydrangea drapes. Would have been a lovely room if the purple wallpaper was replaced with a coordinating blue from the curtains. Abdington Street has lots of row houses with many not in the best condition (college student rentals maybe?) but after passing a few blocks the architecture improved significantly. We enjoyed our 3 day stay there and got sufficient rest for all our wandering! Be sure to visit the Oxford Botanic Garden if you love gardening/flowers. Also. We stumbled upon the Saxon tower of St. Michael’s which is definitely worth seeing-climb the tower for a great view.

Very comfortable and affordable Guest House close to the heart of Oxford with friendly staff and pleasant room. Even though it is on a busy street once you close the windows it is silent. Would definitely truenos and highly recommend to anyone who doesn’t require an oversized room.

However, don 't stay here if you are planning any day trips out of Oxford because you may not have a parking space when you arrive back to the guest house. We could not find any reasonably priced parking nearby.
