When we checked in the room looked great, so we were really pleased and excited for our two night stay. What we didn’t expect was the room not to have any sound proofing whatsoever. We could hear everything in the hallway. People walking and talking in the corridor, the door opening in the corridor even though it wasn’t close to the room. Cleaners with hoovers and talking from 8:30am. Bins outside our window being emptied. We could hear everything - and I’m not a light sleeper. Our bed also sloped to one side so my parter felt like he was falling out of bed if he turned. We paid for a late checkout only to have fire alarms blazing 5 times from 11am. Can’t it wait until early afternoon?
Overall the hotel looks great, but the quality of our stay was poor I’m afraid.

The hotel was acceptable but quite disappointing overall. The location is not very convenient, as it’s a long walk to the city centre. The facilities felt outdated, and the swimming pool was below average. Staff were polite, but service could be improved. Overall, it did not meet expectations for the price.

Nice hotel but we paid in advance for early check in and set off 3 hours earlier so we could enjoy the afternoon in Oxford but when we arrived we were told it was ‘subject to availability’ despite having actually paid for it and a confirmation saying it was accepted and contained no caveats.

The hotel is located in a really great place which is walking distance to Oxford, either along the river or main road.
The room was large and clean. A bit of moisture damage to the bathroom door, but a big heated mirror.

My only comment would be the front desk staff need some training…smile at the customer, tell the customer where their room is, tell the customer what time breakfast is and if it’s past of their reservation, tell the customer about the use of the pool and spa facilities. Very basic stuff?

Lovely hotel, and as I asked for a quiet room, I was given a room in an adjacent cottage, which was perfectly quiet. This room was exceptional, but unfortunately did not have a fridge, which meant i was drinking room temperature water which I dislike.

Waiting staff were friendly and helpful, especially Eldhose. He was exceptional. Reception staff were more officious than friendly.

I’m disappointed to say that a few minor hitches with technology, did make me irritated. Ie, having to continually get my card pre authorised at reception to make charges to my room, a broken card reader kept declining my card, causing discomfort. Parking added twice to my checkout bill. While packing my car up, my room card locked me out as it did not appreciate I had a late checkout, which was just another small irritation in the rain and in a cottage away from reception. Calling days later after checkout to have a pre authorised £50 charge on my credit card removed.

Smart, comfortable room. Lovely lighting choices, black out curtains. Main bed & sofa bed, very comfortable. Smelt very clean. Tea and other choices of drink, including biscuits. We could adjust heating of the room to our liking.
Lovely spa facilities to make use of including pool, jacuzzi, steam & sauna room.
Dinner and breakfast options fabulous. Tasty and well presented.
Loads of parking in the grounds of the hotel. Wasnt aware of parking charge of £25 for one night, until after I booked.

Good property. Most of the staff is very accommodating. There are no washers and dryers on the property and the dry cleaning service is very expensive. The gym is small but functional. There are no windows around the indoor pool so the smell of chlorine is intense. The waiters at dinner took a while to bring our food, so the food wasn’t very warm when we got it. Otherwise the food itself was delicious but kind of cold.

Staff were nice and friendly. The property was old. We were given a room that was not accessible by elevator and we had to carry suitcases up the stairs. The room was dated (particularly the bathroom). The beds were not comfortable. I would not rate it as a four star property based on North American standards.

Had to get 2 rooms, but only used one as traveled with family of 3 small kids. The rooms were on different floors and not connected, so did not have use for one of the rooms although we had to pay for it.

Location was ok, not in the center but walkable. Might consider staying here again in the future, but with some reservations.

A very comfortable hotel with excellent staff set in attractive grounds close to the Thames. Plenty of parking, if expensive, but this is Oxford of course.

The food is very good and available all day.

The coffee table in our bedroom showed a bit of wear and tear and there were many doorways where the frames had been damaged then carefully painted over without repairing the wood. Probably only noticeable to a perfectionist!

Two electric car chargers were also a reason for choosing the hotel. More would be welcome since cars take all night to charge on these and EVs are much more common now.

Lovely hotel, comfortable beds, staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was buffet style and one of the nicest buffet breakfasts we have had, with a very good range of options. We also used the pool, poolside jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There are towels in the spa area for you to use and shampoo, conditioner and shower wash in the changing room showers. There are also lockers which you use a PIN code to lock, so no change needed.
We walked into Oxford along the Thames river path and enjoyed not being right in the centre. It took us around 15 minutes to get into Oxford and probably only 10 minutes to get the Christ College from the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and the hotel had everything we needed, as well as enabling us to relax after a long day of sightseeing. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

We really enjoyed the location of the property - very easily walkable to Oxford city centre (either on a pavement by the main road or along the river) - around 10-15mins but in a quieter and secluded location. Taxi took 10mins from the train station despite a bit of traffic (£6). Staff were very helpful as attentive, room was spacious with double aspect. Swimming pool was much smaller than expected and the changing areas could do with a bit more frequent cleaning (I was surprised that people were let into the main pool area in their shoes without plastic covers) but it was good enough for me and my son to have a splash for half an hour and a bit of a soak in the jacuzzi. Breakfast was very good although my rate did not include it and £20.95 felt steep but children come free so it ended up being good value. Overall would recommend for those who want to stay close to Oxford but not right in the centre.
