Good hotel but unhappy with hidden extra cost

Enjoyed the hotel but deeply unhappy to find an extra cost applied to our bill as a tip for the cleaning staff. We were not asked about this and therefore had to make extra effort to have it removed. Don’t like hidden costs so will stay elsewhere when next in Oxford.

What an amazing place, customer service was brilliant and the whole team were outstanding. They were polite, professional and always available. The hotel itself was beautiful and the courtyard where you could have meals or drinks was magical. Great location and even managed to park the car which in Oxford is gold dust. We stayed in a deluxe room which was beautiful and comfy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩

We had a really lovely stay. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was perfect although disappointed to find all the lights on in our room after the house staff had been in to make the beds and we’d been out all day. Thought meals were expensive for what they were and in comparison with similar quality elsewhere, although delicious nonetheless. Hotel is well located for visiting Oxford centre and room not noisy.

Very small room for the price and the queen Bed was the size of uUS double bed - very small. The room just about only fit the bed and a tiny bit extra space. Very expensive for $450 a night. Also I consistently feel like booking through Expedia in Europe you get the worst rooms.

We were also told that we could not eat at the bar but then I asked the bartender — he said, “Sure!” We had a delightful meal and martini at the bar — great memory.

Nice stay at the Old Parsonage Hotel in Oxford

This was out first trip to visit Oxford. Staying at the Old Parsonage Hotel enhanced this with their convenience, comfort, and suggestions.
The Hotel was, as described on the website. It is comfortable, good rooms, and fine location. The food for breakfast and dinner was prepared to order and of good quality. While the hotel staff were friendly and genuinely helpful, they could have benefitted from more training specific to the area, and some of the services available at the hotel.
Overall a good stay which is a 4 out of 5.

Great Hotel central Oxford

Gorgeous hotel, great staff and service, clean and tidy. Fab from the moment we pulled in the carpark and saw a personalised car park space. Room was spacious if not enormous. Opposite our door was the hotel library which was perfect for a little work. Room was lovely and quiet even with the balcony door open. Reception organised taxis for us with no fuss. The bar was nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good. Only complaint was bed was only a queen size and we found it a bit uncomfortable. Could be bigger for £300 a night room. Bathroom was clean with a great walk in shower. But we would certainly stay there again with pleasure. Well done to all the staff who made our brief stay a pleasure.

We went for the weekend and this is one of the nicest hotels in all of the UK. The staff and service are second to none. I didn't want to single one person out as every single person we dealt with was exceptional. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I've not stayed in every hotel in Oxford but if there's a better one, I'd be shocked.

Old World Charm, New World Comfort

The Old Parsonage is a hotel whose facade and location next to the St. Giles Church out of Dickens. The lobby has an inviting fireplace where one may enjoy mulled wine (lovely in the winter) or spritzer in the summer. The rooms are clean and spacious if you go for the doubles or Jr. suites. The appointments are thoughtful. The cleanliness is bar none. There is a library where you may have a drink (second floor with a terrace). And the menu offers fresh sourdough bread breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea. The menu changes seasonally.

The staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is superior...you may walk to shops and cafes and restaurants on Little Clarendon Street and visit historic renowned pubs, The Eagle and Child and The Lamb and the Flag.

I felt safe, comfortable and really enjoyed the homey atmosphere. I always feel peaceful in Oxford, the city that is just busy enough that it provides a restful place to relax. The Old Parsonage offers that peace, comfort and luxury as well.

The Old Parsonage, History and Modernism

The Old Parsonage Hotel in Oxford is a lovely, quiet place to stay in a historic and profound city. The hotel reflects the nature and tenor of Oxford. It has historical significance and modern values, with exceptional attention to comfort (bed, climate controlled rooms, shower, etc.) The hotel retains the facade from past centuries and the beauty of the current, lovely and modern with all the amenities that one would wish from maid and concierge service, to the room appointments. These are thoughtfully prepared even down to the floral and Christmas decorations.

The hotel location is perfect, near the city center and the colleges and is in walking distance to everything: cafes, restaurants, bookstores, shops and the Christmas market. The dining room provides a fine breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea and the wait staff is extremely accommodating, the food is excellently prepared. The bread is homemade. My venison last night for dinner was bar none. There are also vegetarian selections.

In short the staff and the chef did everything possible to make our stay here the best that could be offered. I would return in a heartbeat during the Christmas season when I enjoy traveling to the UK. I particularly loved the fireplace in the lobby area where a friend and I sipped mulled wine.

I will think fondly of the Old Parsonage after I return to the U.S. What a grand time I've had hear.

Excellent and wonderfully charming hotel. Great bar, wonderful very helpful front desk and very conveniently located but not noisy. Rooms are small but lovely, modern and spotless. Bar and restaurant serve great food and drinks and had several guests meet us for drinks or tea who loved it so much they came back another day! Fireplace in bar area near entrance for cold days and large open air patio for warmer days and nights. Lovely small rooftop library for quiet aoutdoirs and indoor options. Free bikes based on availability. LOVED MY STAY and will be back ( Thabks to Crispin for excellent help with train tickets )

This is a wonderful hotel. The property is very beautiful and the central location makes it easy to walk around the city. I loved the decor and the little touches like motion sensor lights in the hallways and bathroom. The only issue was that there was a lot of noise coming from upstairs above our room 22, which made it a little difficult to sleep at certain hours.

The Old Parsonage Hotel is a wonderful mix of the old and the new in England. The service is impeccable. Food (and high tea) is outstanding. Rooms are well furnished, but some are hard to get to--no elevator and narrow, twisting staircases. City of Oxford is charming, and the Cotswolds are nearby. This is a lovely, small hotel in Oxford. We had one night here in one of the smaller bedrooms. The room was excellent though and had everything needed. We even had a small outside seating area, which was privately screened. The hotel is small so that bar area does feel more like reception as it is right by the reception desk. There is a library on the first floor that is for hotel residents only and you can also order food or drinks to be eaten in the library. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent and had a good selection, as well as breakfast which again was excellent. The service is really good and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The parking is limited but we managed to get a space. Overall a wonderful hotel in Oxford and I would return again.
