Nice hotel lovely setting. Room was nice. Breakfast was ample and good choice. Pool facilities were nice but shower out of use. No bathrobes in bedroom or slippers had to get reception to deliver them they were not held at dos pool either other than that a very pleasant stay

The staff were excellent for the most part, and the room and breakfast was very nice. But I was disappointed in Hotels.com because I felt very misled during the booking process.

I was given the impression that by choosing a more expensive option, I would have a separate bath and shower. In fact, only one bedroom in the whole of Voco Oxford Thames has a separate bath and shower, and this would have been a downgrade from the room I chose - so if the Hotels.com booking process had been better and more clear, I could have saved myself money and still get what I wanted.

I would like to see Hotels.com be more honest and transparent about what is actually on offer, rather than encouraging incorrect assumptions on the part of the customer, in order to potentially make more money - which, whilst this may not be the case, is certainly how I feel as a customer.

The reason I have given three stars and not one is because of how gracious the hotel staff were during my stay.

Not a lot of bench space in bathroom to put bathroom items.
Bed was nice and comfortable.

It is far from Oxford city, handy if you have a car, but not great if needing a taxi.

The hotel is a bit far front the university, but there is a bus stop just outside the hotel so that is real it an issue, the hotel is lovely, the rooms are cozy, clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient, the shower, Wifi and everything else was also good so if we ever go back to beautiful Oxford, we would definitely stay at the Vocco again.

Absolutely superb in every way; about 4th time we have stayed in 6-7 years, though several upgrades/refurbished areas apparent this visit. Lovely in every way and service excellent. The breakfast display and variety is even better, and the room/bed SO comfortable. The ONLY disappointment is now having to pay £10/night to park on site, especially when occupancy was not full and IHG Holiday Inn at Peartree roundabout charge £6 which location is more understandable to deter city visitors from leaving cars there to catch a bus into the centre (which Voco Thames overnight guests may choose to do but not casual 'scroungers' I would have hoped)

I moved here after my conference accommodations in the city turned out to be substandard.

It’s a great little hotel. Very peaceful. Staff is mostly young, professional, warm.

I didn’t have the opportunity to use the spa amenities. However, I had a great meal at the restaurant. My room was spacious, clean, well equipped.

During non-rush-hour, it was about 15 British pounds to Uber into the city. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a catalogue of poor service from the start. My entitlement to free parking was queried by two people. I told them I don’t tell lies. We had to wait to check in when another staff member could have attended to us. We booked a twin room and were given a double. The slippers were missing and had to be asked for. One chair in the room had a dangerous broken leg. My dinner was only just warm enough to eat a some vegetables were cold. The fish was lukewarm and overcooked ruining a good piece of hake. Staff showed us to our table, asked if we wanted water which was not brought until a waiter turned up 20 minutes later to take our order. We were not offered a drink while we read the menu and had to ask for it when the waiter turned up to take our food order. Breakfast was ok with a good selection but the advertised eggs cooked to perfection weren’t unless specially ordered. Overall very poor for a supposed 4star hotel.

We used the pool and sauna/steam room several times over our stay. The area was reasonably clean but there are a few missing tiles and the changing rooms would also have benefited from deep cleaning on a more regular basis. The steam room was poor with no hose to clean down and inadequate steam. The sauna however was good though a little on the small side.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic, as soon as we arrived the lady on reception was friendly and helpful. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary and little things they done really made it special, some chocolates for us, a few glass of prosecco with dinner and 'Happy Anniversary' on our dessert plate. Food was amazing and all the staff are so friendly. My only negative was that you have to pay for parking, which if we were close to the town centre yes, but there is nothing around. But this did not ruin our stay

Amazing hotel and just what we were looking for! We were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and wanted a peaceful retreat and we got just that! The service was perfect, we had dinner at Napiers, breakfast, utilised the bar area, swimming pool, room service amongst speaking with reception and all friendly and attentive. The grounds are simply stunning also. We had a room with a balcony and i can definitely recommend one of these. Cant wait to come back again!

First impressions: the drive and facia of the hotel is beautiful

Check in: flawless. My prior online chat was evident and already in play.

Reception: Liza is remarkable. She never seems to go home! She remembered my room number 5 days after check in!

Breakfast:Maître D Akeesha (apologies for the spelling) has a great team. They keep a relatively tight ship.

Maid service: impeccable.

The entire place, buildings and grounds are spotless and beautiful.

Pool is warm, not too big, but welcoming.
(For those who like to find fault - there is one tile missing on the poolside ;)

No job is too big, or demanding, for everyone in this place.

I rarely give 5 stars. Then again, I rarely am THIS impressed!

Little Note, for hospitality management / staff … when spraying the cleaner onto a vacant table, in the restaurant, guard the spray splatter with your cloth (nobody likes to sit eating, whilst being sprayed with some level of detergent from the next table)

This is a true gem of a hotel and we felt that it was perfectly located for our needs. It is a lovely hour long riverside stroll into Oxford

Our only complaint would be that you have to pay for parking on site. If parking must be made we would prefer to have the charge added to the bill rather than appear as an extra charge

Every staff member was incredible and could not do enough to make our stay more pleasurable. Bonus points for having a sauna and steamroom

We will be visiting again

We stayed for a mini break, just two nights. Really fortunate to have a ground floor room. The room was great, really spacious, kingsize bed and really well furnished and decorated. The bathroom was excellent with a great shower. We had dinner the first night, very enjoyable and reasonably priced. Breakfast was outstanding, lots of choice and excellant produce. The setting by the side of the Thames was good, we enjoyed walking along the towpath. All in all a great stay and highly recommended.

The hotel was so clean and comfortable. We had everything that we needed and more. Every member of staff that we came across was really friendly and helpful. Our room was very large and we had a beautiful, huge, cloud-like bed. The pool was lovely and clean. The filtered bottles of water are a really lovely touch, along with the honeycombe on arrival. I have dietry requirements, which were catered to wonderfully for breakfast and when we ordered room service (which was yum!)

We went away for a long weekend break. We had a fantastic time! The hotel is absolutely lovely. Great location within walking distance of the centre Oxford along the river. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant one Friday evening and the food was great and beautifully presented.
The staff at this hotel are absolutely amazing and that made our stay extra special. In particular, the head waiter/manager in the restaurant went out of his way to help. Highly recommend this hotel and we will defintely be returning

Enjoyed a great 3 night stay. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, polite and helpful. Lovely big comfortable room, huge choice at breakfast.
Perfect (quiet) location. A short drive to the park and ride for Oxford city centre and a few minutes walk to the river - we walked along the Thames path into the city centre one day.
On Saturday there was a wedding taking place but the hotel is so large and sprawling we were not disturbed by it at all.

An Enjoyable return to the Voco Oxford Thames

Enjoyed our most recent visit to Voco Oxford Thames. Looked after by all team members we engaged with throughout trust day. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed our time in the lounge and bar areas. Breakfast runs smoothly and we sat down before 9 am so the restaurant was relatively quiet. We use the 3A bus service to get in and out of the city, which worked very well for us. Thank you for looking after us during our time at the Voco Oxford Thames.

Only slight downside had a bar meal on the Friday night starters came out at different times mine was eaten before my wife’s came out and the pizza was burnt on the bottom

Hotel is very tidy and the service good. The food in the restaurant is top notch so we can highly recommend it. The breakfast is a well stocked self service and held in the restaurant area which is pleasant although lacks a bit of character.
We would suggest that the staff should ask whether this is your first day when going into breakfast otherwise you sit at the table you’re shown to and wonder whether you should wait to be served or help yourself.
We went for a walk around the grounds which is ringed by rivers. I personally felt the grounds could be landscaped to provide a more enjoyable experience as it’s basically a large lawn to walk in and some works barriers which don’t exactly lend visual appeal.
The room was very nice with good sound proofing and facilities. No complaints there at all.
We would be more than happy to stay here again.
A word of warning. On the site we used to book it read ‘Parking available’. What that means is you have to pay for it. I would advise that this is made more clear as people want to know this prior and feel it’s a little sneaky not doing so. It’s a stealth payment.
