Excellent location for tourists, boat tours right outside the door, easy access to restaurants and shopping. Be aware that most of the shops are closed on Wednesdays, but that’s not the fault of the hotel. The hotel is old-school, but clean and quaint. No elevators for upper floors.

A little bit of parking space anxiety, a slow draining sink(they might not have known of) and basic cable that leaves a bit to be desired, it does not take away from the breathtaking views, the clean rooms and the staff that was more friendly and courteous than most people that work for tips. We had a great time revisiting the Alexandria Bay area. I highly recommend staying at Capt Thompson resort. The pool area is a nice place to hang out and visit with each other. We had a great meal at Bonnie Castle too. The resort is centrally located so within walking distance to the shops and boat tours. Enjoy!

Nicely laid out, our room had a great view of the Boldt Castle. My wife and I (both senior citizens) were very appreciative of the staff, who went above and beyond, to assist us with our luggage. The only downside was that every morning our balcony was covered with dead insects, and the only one who controls that is mother nature. Very enjoyable stay.

I can’t remember the last time we had a freezer compartment that worked in our mini-fridge (so nice). The bed was so comfortable and the room was nice sized. It also has been a long time since we had a real key for the door. Although old school, it was evident that pretty much the whole area was vintage. Overall, a good stay I would go there again.

We loved our room--bright, clean, and comfortable. The bed was super comfy--soft sheets and great pillows. Our favorite part was the balcony overlooking the river and Boldt Castle. We couldn't have asked for a better setting. Even though it was October and chilly, we spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the water and several times watching the big ships go by. It felt like we were on a cruise boat.

Note: Alex Bay is a summer season tour town. Many bars, restaurants close down by late Sept. Room was clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

The staff were informative, friendly, professional, and responsive. For example, at around 8:20 PM the first night we were there, we could not figure out how to work the TV remote; we left a voicemail on the hotel’s phone number. I figured probably that no one would hear it till the next morning. But within 10 minutes, someone was knocking on our door, who said he heard the voicemail and was here to help.
The bed pillows were very comfortable. There was delicious, freshly brewed coffee in the lobby in the morning.
Another thing that I liked is they have a strict quiet time in the hotel 10 PM to 9 AM; so you don’t have to worry about raucous neighbors making too much noise.
We were in Alexandria Bay September 29 to October 1. One thing to note at that time of the year a lot of restaurants are closed for breakfast; a few were open for dinner. The town is kind of quiet, which I liked. Capt. Thomson’s has a restaurant across the street from the hotel, which is open for all meals; the meals were good and service was quick at the dinner and breakfast meal we had over there.

The staff at the front desk was very nice and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed and sofa was very comfortable. It had pretty good water view and so relaxing just sitting on the balcony. The only downside was the walking noise from upstairs. It was pretty loud and someone was walking even in the middle of the night and woke me up. We only hear one person walking and didn’t hear talking. Overall it was great stay. We’ll definitely come back but for the second floor.
