The included breakfast is amazing. It is not a continental breakfast. It’s a full breakfast and you have a choice of about seven options. The coffee juice, etc. all included. The people that run the place are absolutely amazing and very helpful and friendly. The views were amazing and very convenient to everywhere we wanted to go.

Once past the rude receptionist we learned we were on the top floor with no elevator and stairs that were narrow and barely big enough for a suitcase. There should be a disclaimer on the website that is easily seen when making reservations that says no elevator other than the tiny printed words in accessibility. No Kleenex in our room and there was a charge for 2 extra coffee pods.

Stayed five days. The premium location on the water in Gananoque. Some rooms are crammed into this property and really do a disservice to the potential of such a location, so a view of the water makes a huge difference in room quality. The main building is antique and idiosyncratic, so this may or may not irritate some people. Room are nice and are clean but not cleaned behind doors. Breakfast is generous and full but the competence of the kitchen staff varies. Off season, staff may play bollywood music loudly through the hotel's outdoor speakers which was irritating. This hotel has docks and this may make it an attractive overnight stay for boaters.

Good comfortable room with a waterfront view on the third floor. No elevator. Only stairs. Dinner in the pub style restaurant was very poor and no attempt to reconcile the meal. Complementary breakfast the next morning also very poor. Although we were the first for the breakfast buffet the scrambled eggs were overcooked and dry.

It’s seems like a lovely East Indian family run this Canadian historic inn today . The property is beautiful .. the included breakfast was very good .. the view from our bedroom outstanding .. the room had a musty smell but the beds seemed clean although not made well . There is a gap under the door so bugs can get in .. bathroom was decent but no extra toilet paper .. there was a dirty fridge but it worked .. sitting by the water was lovely .. they need to work on cleanliness and should check the rooms before guest arrives .. .. the decor in the lobby should remain authentic for the time period of the hotel and no East Indian decor in my opinion. The front entrance smells too and they should fix that .. other than that it’s a nice place ..

We loved staying at the Gananoque Inn. The staff were wonderful and very kind. The room was clean and well appointed. We had breakfast at the hotel both days, and although tasty, we found the portions were smaller. The breakfasts were complementary with our stay, but if paying was an option it would have been too expensive for what you got.

Room was tidy a bit dusty but clean and linen was clean Great Bed, love that this place is on the water and you can sit on the dock. Breakfast is included but it was not great definitely not the worst and you can choose from a small menu .
Staff was so friendly and kind I will go back just because they are so welcoming . Great price for snacks in the lobby too .
Also got upgraded to a king room which was a great free surprise.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Inn, especially since it was not the busy season. The breakfast menu could have been more than egg based items, such as granola, yogurt, fruit selection. We found the staff friendly & accommodating.

I booked The Gananoque Inn & Spa because of its beautiful waterfront location and its reputation as a historic landmark in the Thousand Islands area. Unfortunately, my stay revealed how far the property has declined from what it once was.

The Inn still enjoys a prime location by the water, with a large front yard offering relaxing views of the river. The staff were reasonably friendly, and the surrounding area is peaceful, with a small park and the river cruise terminal nearby.

The warning signs started at the entrance. The front door is covered with award stickers from various travel organizations — but most are from 2014 or earlier. The first clue that the property’s glory days are long gone.

Despite calling itself a “Spa,” the spa has been closed. The carpets in both the corridor and my room looked and smelled dirty. The Samsung 32” TV was an first-generation flat screen with a four-inch frame, paired with a broken remote held together by Scotch tape. The cabinet designed for a minibar was empty, while a small fridge was awkwardly placed under the desk instead.

It feels like the rooms haven’t been updated in at least a decade. Breakfast was included, but the omelette was paper thin.

The area around the Inn is very quiet. Aside from the nearby river cruise terminal, there isn’t much within walking distance except a large, deserted industrial building.

This property clearly once had character and charm, but it’s now stuck in time and in serious need of renovations.

They property seems to be half renovated and a not good job of it. Very disappointing, things were just horribly build or covered up problems. The bathroom door was broke at the top and would not close. There was no soap in the room, the air conditioning was loud and non stop…and we were in the Prime ministers room…..was horrible.
We did not get the room I reserved from expidea…..way over rated…..so disappointed

Worst stay ever. The person at front desk horrible and very rude. Room was not clean. Other guest shoes left in the room. Fridge shook in the middle of the night. We stayed in the annex. Not worst $280 a night. At 5am a motorcycle right near the room started. There should be no room near a parking lot. Not at $280 a night. At checkout simply asked if we could park an additional 3 hours and was denied after saying our experience. This is unacceptable. Stay far away from the hotel. Not worth the money. Many other hotels nearby.

This place has so much potential. Located on the water, two restaurants, right in such a quaint section of the town. It’s charming, full of character, and clean. There were just a few things I can’t quite put my finger on. It wasn’t welcoming; staff was OK, our bath towels were ripped. The breakfast was cold.
These things aren’t deal breakers. I’m speaking more from the perspective that for the money, and the vibe it looks like should have upon arrival, it could just be so much more.

I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. When we first checked into our room, it was in an unacceptable condition. The bed had a dead mosquito on it, and the bedsheets and pillowcases were covered with multiple stains. The back door was not properly closed, and outside the door there were two chairs with used cups and Tim Hortons items left behind, as well as a dirty towel on the ground. I assume those chairs belonged to our room, but it was obvious that no one had cleaned the area at all.

After raising the issue, the staff did move us to another room, which was somewhat cleaner. However, even in the new room there were still stains on the pillow, and the walls had spider webs and insects.

Overall, the level of cleanliness and maintenance was very poor.

Room was dirty - dusty, bathtub dirty including hair in tub, shower curtain mouldy and dirty. Breakfast omelette was hard and flat - unable to eat it. Waite staff couldn’t find a cloth to clean the table and when they did they can back with a dirty cloth. The front door was not welcoming - everyday it was dirty. I don’t mind if a place is a little tired and dated, but cleanliness is a must.

Needs updating and care. The photos of this hotel looked great but our room smelled musty, lots of fingerprints and dirt in the room. We were in the Annex, a redone motel. Breakfast was free thank goodness but only 2 strips bacon, eggs dry and tasteless, a few tasteless potatoes. Great location but next time I’d stay one block away at a better hotel. Staff was very hospitable but they need to update the rooms and clean them better. Not worth the money.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Pros: beds were very comfortable, great location and beautiful views out to the water. Room was very clean and front desk were very nice.
Cons: expensive, no fridge in room, ice machine is on the first floor (we were on the 3rd), a bit outdated and bathrooms in restaurant need a complete renovation
We were going to a play at the Playhouse so the location was key for us this trip. Beach was a very short walk and less the 1 km to King street. We would probably stay there again.

Do not stay here! It's so sad that such a great location is so run down and dirty. I'm talking years of dirt and filth. You know when someone hasn't wiped down doors or light switches for years and they get black and sticky. Ya, like that everywhere. Walls, doors, door handles, bathroom fixtures, everywhere!

It looks like they don't even own a vacuum. Carpets were filthy. Bathroom was not cleaned after the previous guest. Hair in the shower and sink, urine on the toilet seat, mold and mildew in the shower.

Their restaurant looked a bit cleaner, but the food was terrible. Cold, greasy plates and scrambled eggs that looked like they were cooked for an hour and had the texture of cut up cardboard.

Great location, but that's it. Do not stay here!!!

We stayed at the Gananoque inn.
For 2 nights and 3 days. My wife and I were very happy with the inn. All the staff was very friendly.. A lady at the front desk was very helpful. We were able to move rooms. When I book my room, I did not request a waterfront
room, but they're very accommodating, and I was able to switch my rooms, and we went to room 503 which had a beautiful view of the lake and a area for us to sit in the evening and enjoy our drinks.
We were very happy with breakfast. It was a sit down and you're able to choose off of a menu.
We also ate at both restaurants. The first night was Muskie Jake tap and Gill, the food was very good. It was a little busier than the Watermark, but we were on holidays and we were in no rush. The second night we ate at the Watermark, they call it fine dining, not sure. If I would call that, but the food was very good. And they had quite a bit of selection to choose from, and you were able to sit outside on the patio and overlook the lake. The view was very nice and relaxing. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this hotel. If you are planning to do the boat cruise, it is walking distance docks., I would say, a five minute walk.( parking was free included in the inn)
Just also quick note, we did the three hour cruise, which was amazing We thought it might be a bit too long but there was so much to see and also there was a lot of information given to us over the speakers. So kept a trip interesting.
