This hotel is just 12 mile from Michigan City and Blue Chip Four Wind Casino and shopping at the Lighthouse Premium Outlet Mall. The University of Notre Dame and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore are within 30 minutes There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

My room smelled of cat pee. My coffee maker did not work at all. The breakfast they served was just unbeatable. I had to ask them to change my sheets and empty my trash!! The vending machines were nowhere near acceptable! The night manager was rude! The floor i was on smelled of pure weed!! NOT ACCEPTABLE!!

The place is very dingy. There was a strong chemical air freshener smell in my room that irritated my throat. The white towels were stained gray, the bathtub was gross, there were very noticeable stains on the upholstered chair, holes in the bedspread. Housekeeping started banging on doors at 9:30 AM! As I was leaving I needed to make several trips to the car and the housekeeper told me I was fine, that I still had time at 10:30. My room key quit working before 11 AM which is the designated checkout. My last trip back in the room I shut the door to use the toilet etc. and at 10:55 housekeeping entered the room unannounced and when I protested, she said she was “just checking.” I know I got a discounted rate, but cleanliness and respect for privacy, checkout time, etc. are just non-negotiables in my book!

I also noticed that they removed all of the muffins and sweet rolls before breakfast on Sunday morning... that seemed pretty chintzy to me.

Caulking cracked around tub and some water damage around the sink etc. Great place to fall into bed after a long day on the road, wake up and get back on the road.

Beds were terrible about 3’ off the ground and very uncomfortable, lumpy. Room furniture was ripped and worn out, (office chair was falling apart) found bug in bathroom. Room maintenance came to our room to clean it we were just leaving she said she would be back in an hour.. we left for the day got back room was not done garbage was full, no clean towels, told front desk they sent down 2. Called front desk to tell them that our room wasn’t clean they said ok we will clean tomorrow I said we are leaving tomorrow. Oh he said. Worst 2 nights in a hotel on this trip!!! I do not recommend Travelodge in Laporte In.

The first room we were out in tracked of cigarettes and it was a “non smoking facility”. The second room smelled of musty, moldy, bleach, and old smoke smell. The smell turned my stomach and made my eyes and throat burn. We had to stay the night due to us arriving at midnight after a day of driving 12 hours with a 4 year old. But we didn’t even sleep under the blankets of sheets. The room was dirty, out dated, loud and the smell was absolutely terrible!!! Do not stay here!! It feels unsafe as all the doors to the outside remain unlocked at all times and there is a door right to the rooms from the sidewalk. Anyone could just walk in.

I did not get any sleep due to someone trying to get in my room, bedding was dirty and stained. It was so bad, I did not stay the 2nd night! I tried to call and talk to a manager and when I said I would like to talk to someone about my stay, they hung up on me. Not once but twice! This is a place that does not care about providing a safe and clean place to stay when you travel.

Good location and friendly staff. Beds were comfortable, but very high. One of us could have used a stool. Desk chair - the only chair in the room - was in poor condition and not built to support larger people. This should be improved upon. A second chair in the room to sit on, if there's space, would be appreciated. The hotel has no elevator, and the front door to the hotel was locked (safety concerns?) which leads to a safety concerns if there was a fire. The room smelled of a strong odor of marijuana, and there were hairs in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable but the a/c /heater sounded like it was going to fall off the wall every time it turned off. At 7am (breakfast is 6am-9am), I walked downstairs to the small lobby to get breakfast. They had coffee and apple juice. They had cereal, but no milk, and NOTHING else. There was no staff either to ask. I searched through the drawers but there was nothing but some styrofoam cups and plastic ware. Nothing to eat or snack on but a note that says to “limit 2 eggs per person” sign, on a locked small refrigerator. Around 7:30am the following morning, the cleaning staff was extremely loud using vulgar curse words complaining about her cleaning supplies and how her vacuum wasn’t working. It was so loud, it sounded like they were in my room, that I even chained my door. I decided NOT to stay my second night, as I didn’t feel safe or comfortable. I will say that I did call ahead of time and asked for an early check-in, but had to call back to see if I could. They did accommodate that request.
