The room was excellent, but then again we paid a fortune for it.

The issue I have is that we arrived on Jan 1st, and left on Jan 6th. On Jan 6th is when the Hotel was fully opened again, besides the swimming pool bar which was still closed. The inside pool doesn't allow children, and I have 2 kids who wanted to be there.

There was no options for Room Service as everything was closed due to the time of year, which I would have thought would be peak period and being a Hotel, everything should be open.

The hotel is far away from most things, so you had to walk a long way everywhere or get a Taxi.

We booked in for the hotel restaurant and when we sat down, we realized there was no kids menu, and prices started at $125AUD per person, without drinks.

Even the inside cafe/bar was charging $10AUD for a Pepsi Max.

The country is ridiculously expensive, and for the $700AUD a night I paid, I cannot recommend at all.

On the good side - all staff were very friendly and welcoming, and did their best to speak English. The room was lovely and spacious for the 4 of us.

We thought it would be a private beach rather than shared with the public. It was gated for us to enter and exit the beach area but it was shared with the public and hotel next door which meant it was generally very busy.

The kitchen in our room was not a full kitchen. It lacked many useful appliances, such as a toaster and utensils were bare minimal for cooking. Odd numbers of glasses and tiny cups.

The food options in the restaurants on site were limited and had restricted times for certain items. One night we wanted to order a burger and we were told we could only order that item from room service, which seemed odd when we ordered it at the restaurant another night. Once we ordered it from our rooms it arrived cold, and missing some of the items of the dish. With the price of the food we would have expected better all round. We avoided eating there again after this.

Dorieann and Clare at the front desk were most helpful with our requests and understanding and we wanted to mention these two ladies as they went that extra mile to help and communicate with us.

This resort could have so much more potential, it's a beautiful location, the rooms are a great size and it is clean and modern. The swimming pool has a lovely view, but disappointing the pool bar was closed and no reason given. We were on our honeymoon and we would have loved the perfect accommodation to spend it at, generally we had a great time but those points mentioned above lowered the rating for us.

Pleasantly Surprised and Highly Recommended!

Read so many reviews about this hotel that does not aligns with my experience. This is still an amazing hotel for a relaxed getaway in August 2025.

First time in Noumea, so I don’t know what it’s like pre-2024 - but I’m glad I came and stayed here! Great hotel staff, excellent service, amazing and convenient location + the fact that there is a kitchenette made our trip so much better.

Thank you and highly recommended. Will definitely come back the next time.

It’s a lovely garden setting to sit and watch the sunset and have a drink. It seems many of the locals think so too which is a good sign. The spatronic pool is very relaxing but perhaps hotel guests could be offered 1 for free and then buy a weekly pass. I would have gone every day then! We did go 3 times in 7 days! The rooms are well set out but I think it’s worth getting the top tier one as we could see the sea but also looked out on to the hotel next door. The food is very delicious and the servers were very accommodating and happy to help. The staff on the desk were very helpful and friendly. There are not many places to go for food around Anse Vata that matched the quality of food that the hotel offered. Thanks for a lovely mother daughter holiday Chateau Royal!

Beautiful room and view, very nice staff, nice pool, private beach with shark net, super clean. Free and easy parking, kitchen well appointed, beds super comfy.
Only downside was the disco 2-3 times per week at the hotel next door that goes until 4am (yes you read that right). We moved rooms to escape the noise (we had to pay XPF 5000 per night for the pleasure) and we could still hear the thumping of the music.

Chateau Royalw was wonderful. It is kept spotlessly clean and the staff go out of there to help you with anything you need. The pool area is beautiful and the bar will come by with free mini drinks or fruit to help you keep cool. The spa is excellent, we had two different treatments and they were both worth every penny.
Rooms are very nice and comfortable. We had a partial ocean view. The balcony was tilted downward, and pretty small so we never really used it.
My only complaint is they were putting in a new gate so the area to go down to the water had an ugly orange temporary fence and plywood, but by the time we left the new fence was almost inn.
I would definitely come back to this property again.

Despite it being peak season, the pool bar and main bar were both closed and they were both listed as open on their website. They had a bell by the pool bar to call for service but it was rarely answered and even when it was, it was likely the drinks would not arrive. The pool area is very small with nowhere near enough loungers. Staff were clearly overworked and those that were there were slow and didn’t really seem to care. Breakfast was not worth the money. Rooms very overpriced. The bed was very comfortable though, I will give them that. Reception staff were helpful. Honestly would never stay here again. Very disappointing.

The overall stay was okay the cleaners and the kitchen were probably the best things about this place. There’s a lot of construction on the property that takes away holiday atmosphere.

I booked a birthday surprise on arrival however arrived to the room to find nothing had been set up for my wife this was rectified later.

Limited dinning options and food is average.

The bed and bedding is terrible I asked for a mattress topper it was so thin and after the first night sleep on the comforter I went to see the receptionist and showed him my face had bites all over it he replied what should I do and if I got more to call him unsure what he would of done then so didn’t bother. After 7 nights came back to NZ and had to see a chiropractor the beds are old and hard.

There were ants in the bedroom area we advised the reception no one came to look until three days later.

The lack of care for long staying customers was disappointing. Wouldn’t stay here again however enjoyed Le Meridien food options, staff and overalll atmosphere.

From the moment I booked through to check-out the accommodation and their services have been amazing. This trip was a surprise birthday present for my husband. I contacted the resort ahead of time to organise a surprise in our room on the night of his birthday. The staff were very accommodating and went above and beyond what they could do to make the surprise successful.

Every staff member we came across whether at the concierge or restaurants - were extremely friendly and welcoming. The only suggestion I would have is to have a breakfast variety. I paid extra to have breakfast included into our stay, but each day it was the same breakfast items. It was good food, however, eating the same meal each day became a bit tedious.

Other than this I would highly recommend this accommodation. We had the one bedroom suit with partial sea view and balcony. The room was spacious and clean. The sea view was worth it. Location wise, we were able to access the beach from the resort. It was also a waking distance to the local strip for food and drinks. The staff were also helpful in calling us private taxi's without any problems. Could possibly say one of the best accommodations my husband and I have resided at.

We had a great 10 days here. You can manage getting around with bus and walking but we hired a car for most of our trip which was fantastic as we had freedom to go further, and the hotel has free parking which is great. The pool is small but nice. Would be better if they got the swim up bar running again, a real missed trick there. The restaurant was shut during our stay but the little cafe burgers were nice enough. One of the lifts was down for most of our stay, then the other lift went down one evening so they took us to a service elevator but that collapsed down half a level with the door half open so we all hastily scrambled out and found some stairs! Basically the property could do with a fair bit of maintenance and repairs. The rooms are very spacious though. We did ask for a mattress topper as the beds are very hard. They also have washers and dryers on level 5 and 7 which was very useful for a long stay like ours.

An average stay. Room was nice and spacious and clean. Bed was pretty hard.
Pre ordered a taxi through the hotel from the airport which didn’t turn up. Had to wait an hour for a different taxi to turn up.
Breakfast was good but food from the restaurant was pretty poor and very over priced for what it was. Cocktails were average and had to ask for lemon to go in to add flavour.

This was a nice facility with some shortcomings. Of particular note, breakfast was not up to scratch for the amount you pay. Secondly the gym lacks basic equipment. While the staff were friendly, they weren’t as attentive to requests. Rooms very nice.

A beautiful resort in the tropical paradise of Nouméa. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff helpful and friendly and the resort had a friendly, relaxed ambience. Beautiful garden area to read, relax and have an evening a drink. Pool was well maintained and inviting. Close enough to walk to the local restaurants and bus stop, which takes you into Nouméa. Highly recommend staying here.

What a week! Gorgeous weather, amazing ocean front room, lovely people…what more could you want! Nothing was too much of a hassle for the delightful front desk staff. Quentin, in particular, was so helpful and lovely to us. Our only issue was, as a Coeliac, gluten free food is hard to find but La Pirogue on site was one of the few restaurants which had marked gluten free dishes. More Australians should visit New Caledonia - a sunny taste of France on our own doorstep. Magnifique!

We had an awesome stay at Chateau Royal. We were a big group (six couples) and the staff were so helpful with booking us taxis and dinner reservations. The rooms were great with full kitchen facilities (ask at reception if you don't have a toaster, they will give you one). The restaurant was average, but that wasn't an issue as there are so many places to eat in town.

Only complaint is that the pool is quite cold - would be nice if it was slightly heated. There is a warmer indoor pool you can use but you have to pay.

Excellent hotel, clean, functional, great location only few minutes to the shops and food, hotel restaurant had great food, reception stuff was amazing.
The only problem and that is why I deducted one star is that it is noisy. There is a discotheque 200 metres from the hotel which is open 5 nights a week until 3am and the music booms through the area. I out headphones, aircon, closed the windows and coils hear basses. Didn’t sleep well. Other wise, great place.

the staff were so helpful and friendly at this Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and with sunsets looking directly over the ocean, it was a real treat in the evenings sitting out on the deck chairs provided. Would thoroughly recommend this Hotel. The rooms with a kitchen and lounge and separate bedroom were very spacious. The bus stop was just outside the Hotel which was also convenient.

The property itself has been renovated very well. Rooms are actually mini-suites and very nicely appointed. Common areas also well done.
Unfortunately the staff seem to be quite poorly trained and supervised, eg. check in took 30 minutes because they couldn't locate the booking and tried to book us under a different name - even though they had our passport! Service in restaurant also quite ordinary.

Where to start - after checking in we were told that we will be charged extra for our children despite booking a one bedroom room with a sofa bed. We were then welcomed by ants in our room, leaking dishwasher and fridge, view of carpark (despite every room supposedly having beach views), freezing pool water & construction noise all throughout the day making it unbearable to sit by the pool side.

At night, we were put to sleep by the whirling wind noise given poor window insulation. Upon checkout, we were surprised by additional restaurants charges that others must have put towards our room. Daily cleaning was completed by sunset if lucky. Management were trained well to act like they care but when issues were flagged no action was taken - including the mysterious manager at the back of reception who never came out to speak to customers.

At best, this is a 2 star hotel and we really struggled to understand the value proposition -
save your money by avoiding this place. Either stay at a cheaper hotel and spend time doing day trips off the mainland or stay another hotel. We spent the other half of our holiday at the Hilton îlot Maître and had a relaxing holiday with friendly staff, fantastic customer service and amazing surrounds.

A lovely hotel with an excellent view. Large rooms and bathroom. Short walk to tourist attractions. Very attentive staff. We found food and drink to be quite expensive both at the hotel and generally in Nouméa and were happy to have an apartment where we could choose to prepare some of our own meals. Kitchen was basic but functional. I found the bed a little hard but that is simply personal preference. My wife very much enjoyed her massage, I however was very disappointed as I was short changed in the time I had paid for and the masseuse ignored all the preferences indicated in the premassage form.

If you are not French speaking the staff are extremely rude and do not want to serve you. We had several instances of extremely rude staff, we had burgers at lunch one day and although the Pattie’s were large they were extremely dry and overcooked they were also out of salads the same day restricting the menu even more. The charcuterie platter was nice. Do not order cocktails from the restaurant downstairs, my cosmopolitan came out completely clear and tasted like water and lime juice but staff gave attitude when we gave feedback when you’re paying over $25NZD a cocktail you want it to be good!. The lounge bar upstairs knew how to make cocktails so don’t waste your time going downstairs. The pool bar wasn’t open our whole stay due to “weather” despite it just being a little cloudy. The pool opens at 830am which is quite late if you have kids, construction started earlier than this so can’t be a sound thing and you cannot get towels until 9am which doesn’t align with pool opening time. The facilities are nice and we had a nice massage but the staff and restaurants tainted our experience.

A great location with an easy stroll to other restaurants, bakeries and convenience stores (which is great as the food options at the hotel are a bit limited and expensive). The room are very nuce, but the beds are not king bed as we booked, it is 2 singles moved together, and hold togeter by kind size protector, and creating a holl in thw middle.
We asked at reception about this and they told us all beds are like this regadless how much you pay for the room. The pillows very uncomfotable alsi.
We stayed at le meridian last time and bed and pillows are great.

Location is ok however the service is pathetic. The reception service manager has no ettiquettes to talk to guests. Would never recommend to stay in this hotel, simply AVOID

this was our second 5 night stay in 5 months. Paid for next level room category for the view this time- enjoyed that. The elevators need to be replaced, getting trapped in the lifts or having them out of order so often that staff are desensitised to it. I didn’t enjoy being trapped for 5 minutes with my 19 month old daughter…

love the kitchen, apartments are well maintained otherwise. Was great to see the pool bar open and the aquatonic pool available as well.

Nice 4 star Hotel, we’ll maintained ,nicely located at the beach close enough to the city by car or bus no.3. Nice firm beds and kitchen in the room for breakfast/ lunch. Unfortunately the beach was closed due to shark attacks, so hanging at the pool.

the resort rooms were well maintained and very clean and spacious
It was a shame that the beach was closed due to the recent shark attacks.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, a special thank you to the receptionist Madeleine, she went above and beyond to help us find somewhere to swim and snorkel in the ocean.

The superior units are fantastic and the food and service is excellent. Pool and beach are lovely and it is a short walk to Anse Vata restaurants and shops.

Check-in, after 3pm our room was not ready and yhe staff could not give us a time when it would be ready. It was sometime after 4pm when it was finally ready. For a room that is over $650 a night l would expect to check in immediately. So that was really poor

The staff were so helpful and friendly. Facilities were excellent. Shame about the spa maintenance whilst we were there. But we were notified of this. Great location. Walking distance to main part of town. Easy access to beach. We did have a few little ants in our bathroom/kitchen. We’re given bug spray. It wasn’t that bad.
Overall would definitely stay again

A wonderful holiday destination. Rooms are modern, large and overall are very clean. The pool is situated in a good location that overlooks the ocean.
