Staff was astounding. Breakfast was tasty. The staff is what made the stay positive. clogged sink but no maintenance on weekend duty so we were moved to another room. In new room the shower door was broken. Get rid of the carpeted floors in the bedroom, collects bacteria and didn't feel comfortable in bare feet. Maid left us a clean hotel room!

All is fine, except one should be forewarned that the swimming pool is not existant (demolished and filled with rubble). The brewery on premises is not functioning. Restaurant was not open on Sunday nor Monday. That meant having to either go outside or order delivery. Otherwise all was fine

The lobby, bar and restaurant were clean and inviting. Staff was friendly, nice and pleasure to talk too. Rooms were a different story. Absolutely disappointing, mold on ceiling, broken shower head, frame on mirror falling off, TV stopped working many times, but the worst was the blood splatter on the wall. The hotel can do much better. Would probably never stay there or any Clarion Hotels again after this.

Nice view of the lake. Easy parking. Staff were nice and the room was good. The bathtub wasn't pristine by any stretch. The property needs an update badly, but I understand that's costly. It was a solid stay for a driving trip in upstate NY on a holiday weekend.

The location and the view were excellent. The hotel needs a lot of repair. Our room: the floor was damp, the bathroom mirror had weird burn like streaking, there was rust in the bathtub, the water pressure was excellent, the walls in the room had had paint touch-ups that did not match the rest of the paint. We were barely able to see out of the window because the seal on the window had broken and it was fogged over. The beds were firm but okay.
Restaurant: the breakfast was what every other free breakfast was. Make your own waffles, fruit, eggs, sausage, yogurt, etc,,,, It was hit or miss if the restaurant was open for dinner.
Hotel: We used a side door to get in and out based on where our room was. It smelled like mushrooms. Like if we were growing mushrooms. Very musty. Wallpaper was torn in the hallways, rugs were literally taped to the floor. I am sure to prevent tripping but there should be a better way. They were installing a new elevator while we were there so hopefully it means they are working on things.
The view was excellent though.

This is the only hotel I stay in when visiting Dunkirk. The property is old, but kept clean and maintained well. The rooms are large and views of Lake Erie are a nice amenity. There are no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms which is not on par with other hotels in the area. For me this is the major downside. I do like the staff who are always very kind and helpful.

The Breakfast was very good and the Attendant was a very friendly and happy woman who always helped start the day off in a good way. The Curtains need to be replaced and the mini fridge in the room was removed and the ice maker was broken. The Bar closed early, wish it was open at least 1 hour longer.
The Bed was very comfortable and pillows were very comfortable. Towels very soft and smelled good. Was disappointed the local Hockey Broadcast was not on the tv. Rooms need a little general maintenance like fixing the peeling wall paper. Maybe a USB outlet or 2 would be nice.

The hotel as a whole needs updating. The front desk person when we checked in wasn’t very clear of instructions(didn’t tell us floor) they also didn’t want car info or check my id(which makes me nervous that anyone can use your name and check in). There was carpets taped down to the floor, there was chunks of dried mud in the hall. Our room was ok but the bathroom needed a nice deep clean, especially the tub/shower. Overall it was an ok experience but I would not stay there again unless it has been updated.

Needs updating for sure but was ok. Had an issue with my TV not working and the staff at the desk had me unplug the cable box to try resetting it. When I called back to say that wasn’t working she gave me a hard time. She did offer to change my room but it was already late at night and I didn’t want to do that. Told me she had no solutions and there was no maintenance staff on grounds.

This is a hotel that time has forgotten. The staff were very sweet, which is the only reason I'd give it even two stars. It felt isolated and in serious need of some repairs and updating. The tub in our room was disgusting with lots of gunk near the drain. The toilet required a lot of work to flush and the pipes ran loudly. The heater was also extremely loud and neither the vending machine nor the ice machine on our floor worked, which was disappointing given the very limited and unimpressive breakfast. I thought convention hotels were usually held to a higher standard, but maybe this passes for that in Fredonia.

Elevator was also having issues.
TV also had no signal, couldn’t get it to work.
No plug ports for cell phone chargers.

lovely views of the lake, the facility was a little run down looking, but only in minor ways. person who checked us in was not very friendly, and gave us one key card that didn't work at all, and both cards were not working in the morning. person at the desk at that time was gracious and fixed them both. breakfast what you'd expect, nothing great, eggs that weird consistency that hotel eggs always seem to have. Bathroom counter and shower were not very clean.

This place is worn out and neglected. Our room smelled like an old basement, and after spotting mold on the seams of the wallpaper and ceiling we requested another room. I can’t list off everything that was disappointing about this whole stay, it’s just too much. This place just needs a complete overhaul. But it’s a struggling town, and I guess this is what you get. It’s just a shame.

The place should not be in service

The room door felt flimsy when it was closed. The vent unit smelled when it blew, and there was mold on the ceiling. The rooms could use an update for sure. The bathroom was good. It's crazy that there is no refrigerator in the room. That is a big letdown. Beds were comfy and clean. The restaurant was fine, but with only one server, things went a bit slow.

This is in a great location right on Lake Erie. The breakfast was good, and the beds and room comfortable. Some of the hotel common spaces look a bit run down. It could use updating. It's a good value when not at peak price, but overpriced at popular times.

Booked a lake front room. Easily checked in. Started down the hallway to our room and it smelled, musty. We got in our room, first floor. It was extremely musty smelling. My eldest son is very sensitive to things like mold started coughing shortly after. We left the room, walked around the lake front. Came back, and we started noticing more of the moisture problems. Everything with fabric felt damp. The carpet. Chairs. I then noticed the metal lamp bases were metal, and rusted (moisture). I was telling my eldest boy as he was coughing badly I bet there’s mold in this room. He points to the wall near the ceiling. You mean like that black mold there. I confirm, yup, just like that black mold on the wall! We start looking and see more moldy spots. My wife and I go to the front desk, and explain what’s going on. The front desk fella was very helpful. Got us a new room on the 4th floor. Said they know they have moisture issues in some rooms. Then offered to discount our $280 stay to $180 (we never asked for a discount that was offered by the hotel staff themselves). The second room was dry. A light didn’t work in it. Was a basic hotel room. Mini fridges aren’t included at this hotel. Over a week later, I check my credit card for a credit as promised. It’s not there. I contact Expedia, they call the hotel. Hotel confirms they moved our room but deny the credit they offered on their own accord. Bonus review- the Steelbound restaurant in the hotel. Food & service was awful.

The location was convenient to the reunion location I was in town to attend. The lobby had recently been renovated, I feel that expense would have been better used to upgrade rooms! Room 323 was in horrible condition. Ceiling had water damage, black mold, wall covering was peeling. Air conditioner sounded like an airplane taking off each time it started. Bathtub tiles were stained, no exhaust fan, old hairdryer wall hanger bracket was bare, corner of door frame at floor looked like there was feces on it. Plus the price nearly doubled for Friday and Saturday nights. If I had been able to go elsewhere I would have. Besides reunions happening, there was a softball tournament in the area, and a fishing tournament. So no rooms available nearby. I’ll never stay there again! I wish I could get a refund.

We loved the location. Our room was very clean except for the dampness. There was no vent in the bathroom, the carpet was clean but damp. The beds were clean. I could not use the internet available due to lack of security.
We did notice that there was renovation going on in the building which was promising. We would visit the hotel again and hopefully the reno will be complete

The staff was fantastic, very friendly, helpful & professional. The woman who oversees the breakfast was extremely attentive & friendly! I hate to leave a less than stellar review but the hotel accommodations was just ok. The rooms were clean but shabby: ceiling with obvious water damage, beds were just ok, and just seemed dingy overall. The hallway smelled like stale smoke. Just not what I would have expected for what I paid.

This hotel should be condemned

Very great staff- but ownership clearly doesn’t deserve them. Mold in the shower, rips in the carpet, heater in room smelled like it was burning, dirt/grime EVERYWHERE. They were out of towels for the entire hotel when I asked for a refresh three days into our stay after not having housekeeping the entire time.

My husband and I have stayed here for almost 15 years, but hadn’t been in several and wow were we not prepared for how much it’s declined.

Homeless and drug-addled people all around the property, lacking security- exterior doors consistently propped open, no proper lock on our room door.

We won’t stay here again.

This was our third time staying at this property. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. The facility is having issues with ground water and moisture. The rug in our room was wet and there were water puddles in the hallway. We did elevate to management and were told that was normal for the first floor. They told us we should have stayed on the upper floors. Actually, they shouldn't be renting these rooms until they remedy the water problems. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.
This is a health concern.
