The bar in the shower is loose and I was given a citation after repeatedly giving the front desk attendant our plate information.

Hotel was nice, but the front counter staff did not seem interested at all, not welcoming us when leaving and returning to the hotel. They were just at the counter on their phones. Check-in was great though the the employee there was very attentive and helpful.
Carpet and bathtub both had stains on them. The beds were very old and used, we felt like we were rolling off the bed all night due to the mattress being so worn down on both sides of the bed.
Overall, good hotel, except for the items listed above.

They literally told us they had no extra pillows and two mornings in a row we waited for clean towels before we could even shower. And to top it all off the pool was closed for some fake reason and that is the whole reason we booked that hotel! Just awful
Janelle
First, us and others in our group were placed into the wrong booked rooms. We had reserved 2 queen beds with a pull out sofa and were given one king bed with a pull out sofa. The hotel could not due anything to fix as they were sold out. We were so uncomfortable since our family does not fit those sleeping arrangements comfortably that we left a night early. The rooms need a little work done: the cabinet hiding the mini fridge was deteriorating due to water damage, stains on the carpet and the wardrobe smelled awful. The pool was also closed although it was supposed to be open by the time of our travel when we made our reservations. House keeping was friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. Overall, I would never stay here again.
Connie
The lady who checked us in was absolutely wonderful. So nice and helpful. The room itself was the issue. There was what appeared to be black mold on the ceiling in front of the vent, and the vent itself was very dirty. The carpet felt wet, and really the whole room had a wet, damp feeling. Our feet/socks were filthy after walking on the carpet. Pretty disappointing for such an expensive room! We will not be back.
April
Highly recommend - great location and staff! The only downside was the pool was closed for renovations.
Michael
The shower gel was empty. Someone was blocking the driveway in a work truck with both doors open so no one could get by and no things to do book in the bedroom
Frank
Service desk for check in was not friendly. When I entered my room to use the bathroom, the toilet was not working. Hand towel had been used and there was toilet paper in the toilet. Hand soap was also used. Went back to service desk to get a different room, attendant did not say sorry or do an upgrade. When we discussed parking, he had not given me the full information on how I would pay for the garage, etc. I picked this hotel because it was highly rated, but that was not my experience.
Kristy
From check-in to check-out our stay was fantastic!
Jeffrey
Location was key
Amanda
Perfect location. Great, safe parking garage across the street that is included in your stay. Friendly staff and walking distance to local shopping and food
richard
Nice clean property centrally located near dining
Ross
We had a great stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms and hotel were clean. Breakfast was good, lots of variety. Amenities were good, minus the pool ( it was closed due to maintenance/renovation).
Michael
Overall, great hotel: clean rooms and common areas, comfy beds, good water pressure and temperature, effective darkening blinds, plenty of room space, and adequate breakfast offerings. The location is near ISU campus and nice shops and restaurants at easy walking distance. Parking is inconvenient being in a ramp across the street. Not too far away, but be aware of this in poor weather. Positives out weigh any negatives, I would stay here again.
Kelley
Great location, super close to ISU. Staff was so friendly and helpful, clean and comfortable room. Loved the 2nd floor patio. Very relaxing space to decompress after a day of travel
Mitzi
My stay at the Hyatt in Bloomington/normal was great experience, the rooms were very clean, the staff was very helpful, they were very friendly and I would stay there again when I go see my baby again.

Tim

Easy one night stay with parking included right across the street. Easy check in and quiet at night. Friendly staff.
Morgan
The front desk staff working 6/11 in the evening really listened to my concern about checking my daughter in. He called the manager explained a unique situation and then the manager helped with the concern. I cannot be more thankful that my daughter was safe that night (severe weather in the area). I appreciate the kindness and going the extra mile.
Beth
Parking is difficult
Gary
Parking is the only drawback. It is in a parking garage and if weather is bad is inconvenient. Also it is a walk to get to the elevators in the garage.
BETTY
Room is clean and big enough to accommodate three people
Teresa
Overall not bad. Some of breakfast was cold and should have been warm. No pool due to maintenance. Lock on inside of bathroom door was broke but the outside part worked
margaret
pool and hot tub area closed

Disappointed in pool being under construction. I live in town. Spent 445$ to get 2 rooms for a birthday party specifically wanting a pool only to find out after check in that the pool is under construction and after looking at the pool there was a work order on The door posted back in December 2025. Would have picked the hotel cross the street if I would have known that. Disclosing broken/missing amenities should be required.
Ryo
Great dining options in the area!

I enjoyed the room darkening shades, room was clean AC was nice.
The pool was down for maintenance.
The exercise room, 2 bikes were broken, there was NO sanitizer bottles or wipes to wipe down the equipment, hand sanitizer was empty.
The kitchen staff was very nice, but the microwave had not been cleaned in a while, reminds you of a college microwave.

The facility is showing signs of wear. Frayed carpet, stains on the carpet and wall paper, etc.
The shower stall was not as clean as it should have been, especially the grout around the edges. I considered picking up Tylex to spray on it like I would at home!
The “second day cleaning” also did not happen.
Also, there is a problem with people who are not guests at the hotel coming in and loading up on food at the breakfast Buffett. One group even took plates “to go”. We watched this happen both days we were there, so more security is in order for the hotel at that location. This also makes the actual guests feel uncomfortable.

Amazing staff!!! Ruth was amazing at check in. The families were nice during breakfast. My son was disappointed the pool was closed but still enjoyed being able to walk around Uptown. A little stretch walking with a toddler to the parking garage due to some drivers just don’t have patience. 10/10 cannot wait to stay again.
Teresa
Booking a (by review) very nice Hyatt, sight unseen and arriving late evening, I was unpleasant surprised to learn the parking is not at the property, but is a shared lot with the local Amtrack station. It was only a couple of blocks to walk, but because we were also traveling with a large UHaul, we had to park that vehicle a mile away at a local park.
They staff were very helpful in giving instructions, etc., but I did expect more and am more disappointed with hotels.com that this distinguishing factor was not quickly apparent when booking online using their app. This feels like something a human could correct instead of letting a computer \"take care of everything.\"

There are a few important things about this hotel that you don’t find in the description or the reviews. First, this hotel is on the campus of IL State University. I was there on a weekend when college was not in session. I’m certain that if you are there during the time courses are in session, the traffic will be very busy. Second, the parking is less than desirable. As a single woman, I would like to know that I will have to park across the street in a parking garage that’s attached to the city hall offices and the Amtrak train station. Had I known the latter, I would have chosen a different hotel. There is no valet services so you are left to deal with that on your own. Lastly, I stay at higher end hotels because I’m willing to pay more for better amenities. This hotel is clean, but very very outdated. The entry is beautiful and very aesthetically pleasing, however, the rooms are very old😔! There was not a microwave in the room, the carpet was old and stained. The motion censored lights in the bathroom were not working properly and the furniture was not very appealing and needs to be replaced.
Would I stay here again? For the price I paid and the inconveniences, no, I would not.

This was a great place to stay. Very clean and friendly staff. Free Parking was nice too. It was quiet at night with no problems sleeping. Will be back in august.

This was a nice place to stay, clean friendly staff close to shopping and returants..

This was the perfect overnight stop on our road-trip. The rooms were nice, location was safe, breakfast was amazing and the Bar snacks were perfect for a late night snack. I would highly recommend.

Breakfast was good. Property was in great shape as Embassy is expected to be. Had trouble with the Louie at the front desk. Rude, not accomodating. Shaking his head before I finish explaining myself. He used the term, I've been in this business for a longer time...
Other than that, it was un a great location, too bad Louie ruined it.

Breakfast was fresh. Normal variety for free breakfast. Staff very friendly. Parking is across street. I was pleasantly surprised it was not busy when we were there. Did feel weird to go thru Amtrak depot to parking, but worked. Nice they have restuarant to order from for dinner when we came in.
Iva
We like ld everything, except of the poo
Suzanne
Great place to stay. Have stayed here several times
John
We arrived and they didnt have a room for our reservation
Serwa
Breakfast although complimentary can be a lot better. The waffles and potatoes were hard everyday. The yogurt bar wasn't fresh. Both apple and orange juice didn't taste well. There were soiled bowls with cleaned ones, more improperly cleaned. Rooms should have a microwave. The restaurant food wasn't too good, but priced fairly. Starbucks is conveniently attached to the building. The hotel was quiet and staff were amazing. The bar was very helpful. The room was clean and stocked with towels, toilet paper and toiletries. Out of the entire stay breakfast is 3/10. And everything else is 7/10.
michelle
Very nice staff. Very clean. Parking not great. Shower pressure could be better. Great location. Very nice lobby.
Nina
The hotel felt luxurious, in terms of the lobby and our room. The on-site restaurant was more of a slightly elevated pub, so we opted not to eat dinner there, but we enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
Rebecca
Pool was unavailable. Room was comfortable, good beds, good breakfast.
Next door to shops and ISU, and a great Mexican restaurant.

One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had!!!! the hot buffet in the morning was exceptional!
Diane
Nice room. Really enjoyed the lobby lounge area and the breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
Len
Property was OK but over priced and the staff was terrible . Manager Wanda was rude and even called the police to have us removed . We paid for a room with a single king bed and was given 2 doubles. When I complained or asked for a credit to ny bill she refused because I purchased through a 3rd party (Expedia) . Also kids were in the hall ways screaming and yelling . If you book through a 3rd party the hotel says you can be treated like a 2nd class citizen .
Rebecca
It was wonderful!
Richard
Great breakfast. Rooms were clean for the most part and nice and quiet.
Cecilia
I had no pets but others did. Staff was great
Andrea

The best hotel in Bloomington very nice friendly staff
Mark
The room was very clean. The staff was great. I had an issue with parking. I was not told that, to park there that the parking needs to be paid ahead of time. If you do not pay ahead of time you will be charged $23.
Tonya
All good
Colleen
We love staying there! We always have a great stay!
nita
Love the Hyatt brand!
Teresa
I wanted to share a concern about my stay. The toilet in my room was not working properly, and a staff member initially showed me how to fix the chain myself. Unfortunately, the issue kept happening, and I had to call three different times to have it addressed.
While I appreciate the staff trying to help, I don’t feel it’s reasonable for a guest to repeatedly fix a maintenance issue during their stay. Given the inconvenience, I believe it would have been appropriate to offer some form of compensation or a small discount on the room.
I just wanted to bring this to your attention so situations like this can be handled differently in the future.

Staff was very good except for the lady bar tender, who was not very friendly and quite grumpy.

The pool was under renovation, which is one of the main reasons we stayed here. At no point did hotels.com or the hotel mention this during check-in.
Linens were not great, expected more out of the highest priced hotel in Bloomington-Normal area.

This hotel is a disgrace to the Hyatt brand. The pool was being renovated, which was not stated online. The staff did tell us it is stated in ‘fine print’ at check out. The outlets in the room were either loose or didn’t work at all. The refrigerator did not get cold. The bathroom sink was cracked. The stairway was dirty and had piles of leaves in it. We are giving it 2 stars simply because the staff was very friendly and attempted to resolve the pool issue by offering to refund our money and cancel our stay, but because we had booked through Expedia there was nothing they could do.
Steph
I booked 3 rooms as I manage the travel for a band that was performing in the area. 2 king rooms and 1 double Queen with a pull out. The double was for 3 men in the band. I called the day before to confirm rooms and all was confirmed. Upon check in we were informed the manager made the decision to switch our double to another king and there were no doubles left. I was told they have the right to change our rooms....REALLY?!!! I will NEVER book a Hyatt place for any bands, myself or my husbands travels.
Lisa
The room is requested was not available so I ended up in a room with 2 queen beds. Not a big deal but the black-out shade didn’t work so I felt like I had no privacy since there were windows to other buildings right outside. The bathroom sink had a huge crack and chunk taken out of it. I’m surprised it wasn’t leaking. All night long there was a clicking noise that kept me up half the night. I finally figured out in the morning that there were messages left on the phone that were causing it so beep. When I checked into the room there were messages on the phone. The breakfast in the morning was terrible. Worst than a motel! I took one bite of eggs and threw the rest away. I was extremely disappointed in this Hyatt.
Linda
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was just ok.
