Very efficient and warm welcome and very attentive staff. The room and breakfast were excellent. Sadly, the restaurant service on three evenings was terrible. I hosted a graduation dinner on 26th Feb. and my guests had to wait 2 hours (YES, 2 hours) for the starters to arrive. Then the main courses arrived one by one, not all together, and ladies were served last. How is this from a hotel claiming to be at the forefront of hospitality and even running a hospitality school.

I would have given a perfect score if it was not for a small glitch , I was waken up by some guests discussing accross my door at 1 am , while this is to be on the guest one has to admit the room is rather easily disturbed by external noise which makes it a bit of an issue when you need some very needy rest after a long week

A very nice hotel that offers good value for money. This hotel is located near the city centre. The staff very courteous, friendly and obliging. The food excellent. The rooms modern, very clean and well presented. The only negative is that the sheets, though clean were stained. I will definitely stay here again.

The staff are the greatest asset, very friendly, helpful and caring. The hotel also responds promptly to requests and feedback. They could do better with environmental concerns such as waste and water by not automatically washing towels every day and taking soap that is still usable.

I have stayed here a few times this year and really like the property. Service is excellent - probably the best in Kampala - Sarah, Christopher, Phillip, Sharon and Florence deserve a special mention. Pleasantly surprised to get a room upgrade at check-in. A fantastic central Kampala option - especially when they finally finish the gym upgrade!

Best Service in Uganda

I wasn't expecting much but was absolutely blown away by the level of service from nearly everyone at this property. From a tangible overall commitment to guests to some small but brilliant touches from individual staff members the level of service and attention to detail was better than I have seen anywhere in Uganda - and I have been here for more than 10 years, Bravo Fairway, I have already booked my next stay.

This was my first stay in Kampala, and Fairway was a really nice part of my stay. The grounds are beautiful and provide a little fresh air as a break from traffic exhaust on the streets. Very pleasant and professional staff - my room was really well kept. The restaurant was quite good and convenient to have on the grounds. Very reliable wifi too!

Never again . Very noisy at night , wedding party , people talking load in the corridor until late 2 or 3 am
Breakfast correct but no have place for seat when it is raining bcoz it is out door dinning place . Have only one bottole of water for 2 person , the door of batheroom need to be repairing , the general standard is not matching of the price , better to staid in the Hilton for simular range of prices .

I booked an executive room and was very happy with the product. The rooms are quite spacious and very quiet as they face the inner courtyard. I recommend the first or second floor in this block as you get a bit more sun than the ground floor.
The location is fantastic and walking distance to many restaurants, although they have an Asian restaurant on site which is also very good.
Staff are very friendly. The hotel is large so there are some nice areas to sit and read.
I would only recommend improving the furniture by the swimming pool, otherwise it was a great stay.

The story of how this hotel came to be was very interesting to me, I really enjoy staying in properties that are more than just a business.
The staff are AMAZING!! They are very well trained, polite, and helpful.

The executive rooms are very well designed, nice and spacious, the garden view from the balcony is quite relaxing.
The Asian Fusion Restaurant was probably my best meal in Kampala, a beautiful ambiance and really great food.
You can see that they are still doing minor upgrades so looking forward to my next stay!

This is one of those oversized African hotels built in the 1960's, but efforts have been made to update it and they've done a pretty good job. The Asian Fusion restaurant on the ground is delicious. Parts of the hotel are still very dated. The hotel is massive and a bit of a maze. The breakfast was not very good. However, the price point is great and contemporary updates made to parts of the facility are pleasing.

Would have rated higher but for one issue - asked for ground floor room at time of booking but request overlooked at check-in. Ended up with first floor room.

If you’re looking for comfort close to the chaos of downtown Kampala this is the place for you. It’s reasonably priced for all the amenities and there is some effort made to make you realize you are still in Africa. A little business-y, for the average traveler, but, my wife and I were there with backpacks, in our backpackers wardrobes and we never felt we didn’t belong.

The Fairway is an excellent choice

This was our third time to stay at the Fairway. The staff is most helpful. The improvements to the property are very nice. This was a great place to come back to after work days. We stayed 7 nights and there were 6 of us. The restaurant and staff are very nice. Everyone is most accommodating at the Fairway. We will be back.

The most pleasing aspect of this hotel is the Asian restaurant - it is superb with a wide range of Indian and Chineese dishes.

Staff are also extremley pleasant and efficinet, while the rooms are sufficinetly comfortable.

The one big drawback for this hotel is the internet - it is terrible. So, business travellers, be warned.

All things considered, I would certainly recommend this hotel.

This is a legacy hotel that every taxi (Uber) driver would know straight off, so its very convenient. The standard rooms, though clean, really scream for maintenance. Otherwise the food and service are quite good. Mid range hotel.

I was charged for an extra person and yet at the point of booking I clearly indicate a single for two.
The confirmation print out also erroneously I dicTed 1 person yet the booking page indicates by default two persons.
I would like a refund from Hotels.com of 37 USD AS I WAS CHARGED AN EXTRA OF 18.50 USD per night

All around clean, nice, and hospitable!

We enjoyed our 3 days, two nights at Fairway Hotel in Kampala. It was at the end of our two week trip in Uganda and Fairway offered a relaxing and comfortable room/atmosphere to wind down from 12 days of traveling around the country, as well as a convenient location to quickly get to many major areas of central Kampala, including malls, restaurants, and craft markets. We enjoyed our breakfast buffet each morning and REALLY enjoyed the option for room service at night, taking advantage of this for our dinner on the night of arrival since we were very tired after a full day of rafting in Jinja and an almost 3 hour trip back to Kampala on a bus. The hotel has two in house restuarants that can both provide room service. The second night we ordered a repeat of our dessert from the night before, even after going out for dinner, because we enjoyed the chocolate brownie sundae so much. Lastly, we felt that the guest services were very good quality, as everyone treated us with great kindness and understanding, even with extra requests such as storing our bags for 6 hours after our checkout (before we left for the airport at 5pm), using the pool during the day after our checkout, and others. We also each enjoyed a spa treatment at the Spa within the hotel courtyard, my wife a pedicure and myself a swedish massage, both at good prices. Very thankful for this good quality, clean, AC included room for our last two days.

Deteriorated historic hotel

The Fairway Hotel is an historic hotel that has been a central player in Kampala life for decades. The best part of the hotel is the orridor display of the hotel's history! However, the hotel's best years were long ago. The hotel is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment. Everything is rundown, poorly maintained, or inoperative. The rooms and dining room are dingy but clean. The AC and wifi worked marginally; bathrooms are dated and there was no hot water. When I complained upon departure they informed me that I should have called them the night before so they could turn on the central water heater! The breakfast was below average. The pool is large however, there is no food or drink service, few loungers, and towels available only if the attendant happens to be on duty. This is not a comfortable hotel, but if you care only about a sense of Uganda history and are willing to stay in a deteriorated hotel to experience it, then this is the place for you.

The hotel is very old and dirty. The sheets were not clean on the first day, the towels are very old and discoloured. The rooms are in need of attention in every aspect.
