Not really what I expected. The door to the balcony didn't close properly; the bathtub has spots where the paint was worn out, the TV service stopped working, there was a piece of wood (panel) in the top shelf of the closet covering a whole.

Hotel was very clean and charming. Location is great. It was a rainy day. There were leaks in the lobby area by the wheelchair ramp and also in the hallway to our room. There was a wedding at the hotel. We were assigned a room above the activity saloon and it was very very noisy. Staff were not helpful with this. We had little rest due to the loud music.

Tv channels selection was limited and there was no option to use streaming apps because the provided remote won’t support them. There ir no coffee maker, refrigerator much less microwave in the room. Bare essentials.

The first room I was assigned was a bit larger than a closet. When I complained they moved to another room which was fine but the bathroom was so small that if you sat on the toilet your face would be resting on the washing basin.

The service of the counter were nice and courteous, Its the hotel that is bad. It is a shame because I had been staying in the Melia since the '70s. This was my last stay with them.

This hotel is beautiful and I'm sure was top of the line in its heyday. But now it's just tired. Here are a few suggestions:
1. When housekeeping comes by, they shouldn't come at 8 AM. We only saw housekeeping 1 day out of 4 and then she only changed towels.
2. On the ground floor there is an open patio with a cigar store. In the afternoon and evening people gather outside to smoke cigars, but this travels directly up to the rooms which overlook the patio. Yuck
3. The wi-fi does not reach to the far rooms. I had to go to a sitting area to use it because my room was too far away.
4. Each day something else stopped working properly. By day 2 the AC wasn't working properly and by day 3 the toilet wasn't working.
5. Some days there was hot water in the shower, others there was not.
As I said, in its time I'm sure it was great, but now there are lots of empty spaces where there should be a bar, restaurant, snack bar etc.

The room amenities lacked. There were no luggage racks so our suitcases sat on the floor during our four night stay. There was an ironing board but no iron. The hairdryer didn’t work and I asked for a replacement that was never replaced so I had to go buy one. There were cracks in the tub so the water got underneath the skin of the tub and it felt like you were standing on a squishy pillow. One morning there was no hot water for the shower. No notification about this but when we inquired at the front desk we were told they were working on the boiler.
The lobby held it’s beautiful history but unfortunately with the lack of the room amenities we will not stay there in the future.

Hotel Melia is in a great location. We loved the restaurants and coffee bars within short walking distance. But our balcony room had no hot water and was very noisy, due to the Carnaval Ponceno festivities in the.plaza below. The music from the concerts, which went on until almost 1:00 a.m., was so loud that the walls and windows vibrated.

I would call this a boarding house. Good for 1 night . Its clean and we’ll kept. However the bathrooms are closets converted into a bathroom. Sitting on the toilet you will find your knees under the sink!! Additionally, most rooms overlook a courtyard which is noisy 24/7 .. so if you’re looking for quiet.. this place isn’t it. Parking on-site is first come first serve so not guaranteed!!

Pensé que por el nombre Melia” debía ser de muy buena categoría, si le hicieron algunas renovaciones, pero ya tienen tiempo y las hicieron con el presupuesto más bajo que encontraron!
Da asco bañarse y no por sucio
Está tan viejo el baño que las marcas no las pueden borrar la bañera pintada a brocha y la marca de sucio no sale !!!
Renovaron algo pero con equipo de Ikea enserio podría decir mil cosas pero pues resuelve para una emergencia!

PROS - Buena ubicación, el área de la piscina estaba limpia.

CONS - El cuarto NO estaba en buenas condiciones, comenzando por la puerta principal la cual no tenía cerradura, solo un seguro que hasta mi niño podía abrir con facilidad. La puerta del baño no tenía seguro, la puerta del closet estaba rota y la puerta que daba al balcón solo tenía un pestillo por lo cual es insegura al tener niños pequen̈os.

La plancha estaba inservible, al ir a la recepción a llevarla buscaron otra en un cuarto que tienen y al menos funcionó. Los empleados se disculparon por el inconveniente.

El lugar no tiene seguridad o al menos no vimos a nadie vigilando. La habitación no tenía zafacon y nunca fueron a hacer el servicio al cuarto. El lugar necesita mantenimiento.

The staff were great but the hotel was bad, no restaurant in the details from expedia mentioned there was breakfast. The bathroom was horrible there was no room to shower the room wasnt cleaned well we found old socks and some makeup stuff for women. The wifi was horrible also. Couldn't watch tv dtv satellite was terrible also. For what we paid it truly wasnt worth it. The ambiance and employees were great. Very disappointed!!

The toilet is clogged and after talking with the Receptionist and another employee nothing has been done. The A/C makes so much noise that even after buying ear plugs we couldn’t sleep. The bedroom and hotel need more maintenance to fix cracked or unglued baseboards, cracks in the wall and ceiling, no smoke detector but the whole in the wall, there is a steep to go into the bathroom with no signs in which we both tripped over, one of the night stand lamps did not worked, the cable tv was not working at night, there is no space in the bathroom to put your toiletries and to open the bedroom door with the key was a struggle. Will never stay here again and do not recommend it.

La cama muy cómoda, la habitación limpia, el baño muy pequeño, NO tiene pasa mano de seguridad en la ducha, es peligroso. Lo peor es el ruido, desperté a las 6:30am por gente hablando y gritando en las áreas comunes, tienen que sellar los cuartos para minimizar los ruidos, no se puede descansar, es la segunda vez que me pasa.

The staff super friendly and helpful. Hotel in great spot in front of the the town Plaza and in the middle of everything thats going around. Avoid rooms with Plaza view...you will not sleep if there are activities going on. From the music, car noise...to the blower and water hose street and Plaza cleaning between 4:30 and 6am... Parking is included. Room was not spotless and we never got hot water.

Había un equipo de baloncesto alojándose, en casi todo el hotel. Había DEMASIADO RUIDO, apenas pudimos dormir. Lo notificamos a recepción, no hubo control por parte del hotel.

El baño de la habitación era muy pequeño y peligroso. Había muy poco espacio entre el lavamanos, inodoro y la ducha, se tropieza con facilidad y eso resulta peligroso. Tampoco hay barras de seguridad en la pared.

En general la experiencia fue fatal.

We had a nice view with a balcony overlooking the square (el Parque bomberos y la Catedral). The building is charming, especially from the outside, but the inside, especially the room was worn. The bathtub had paint chips coming off and floating (the water didn’t drain well when showering). The toilet was constantly running. The sink had issues too (general plumbing issues). We were surprised not to have access to coffee — a coffee pot in the room — though there was a great locally run mobile coffee stand that the hotel should promote. The AC worked really well. The staff were very nice and we discovered a locally owned boutique with great jewelry: Vonqiue (the owner is lovely).

Great location within the city historic center. Checkin was simple and easy. Old historic hotel feel and vibe. Nonetheless, room was a dirty with paint in the floor, dirty around door knobs, door frames and hairs in the bathroom. Shower head was corroded and made a mess of water all over the floor. AC cooled well the room but was very noisy (even with the fan in low speed). No blackouts in window so patio/street lights came through all night and sunlight early in the morning. Bed was comfy. With a bit of upkeep and upgrades this hotel would be a gem.

I expected to have a restful night after a day of hard work. Since arrival I had problems: the key didn’t open the room door; had to change room because of the the smoke detector noise (battery hadn’t been changed before arrival); no hot water for bathing; wet floors all over; no security or guards; the a/c of the new room assigned was defective making noise all night; dirty room and wet floor rug; hotel did not comply with the size of the bed requested. I don’t recommend this hotel.

The building is one of the oldest hotel it is a beautiful hotel
Some rooms are newer. My gf had a newer room very well decorated and modern on the first floor and I was on the third floor and had balcony to the street view but no dark out drapes and in the mornings it was loud. My room was older set up like a motel stay shower tub was clean but oxidized. Very basic room. They have a bar but never ever open we were there 5 days. It is in the middle of everything very convenient and walkable

Deberían prepararla para un piano bar o cualquier otra actividad que el huésped permanezca en el hotel y no tenga que salir a comprar algún snack o alguna bebida. I don’t recommend this hotel. Although they are trying to preserve the architectural style. The building needs more maintenance, specifically the bathrooms. The front desk does not maintain a master key to open the rooms in case of an emergency. They had to break my locks to access my room and change it the next day. I was asked to leave my room open the entire day. Incredible. Just not acceptable. They must have security standards for emergencies situations. No good hotel. Go to another place.

Me hospedé un fin de semana largo (sábado a lunes feriado) con mi bebé de 1 año. El lobby y las áreas comunes como la piscina son bonitas y la ubicación es excelente, justo en el pueblo de Ponce con varios restaurantes buenos cerca. Las camas también fueron cómodas.

El hotel necesita urgentemente una remodelación. El cuarto estaba en malas condiciones: no había agua caliente en la ducha. La ducha estaba dañada, el agua con mucha presión desprendía la pintura. El elevador es viejo, sin botón funcional (hay que usar un bolígrafo para oprimirlo). Las puertas abren solo con llave, sin cerradura adicional y mi bebé podía abrirla por lo que tuve que bloquearla con la maleta. Las cortinas dejan pasar la luz del pasillo toda la noche. Solo había un zafacón en todo el cuarto; la iluminación era pésima y las paredes tenían grietas. Los muebles y facilidades estaban viejos o dañados (gavetas que no abren bien, marco de cama roto, televisor anticuado).

El servicio de habitación fue lo peor: solicité recogido de basura y nunca lo hicieron, tuve que bajar yo misma el zafacón al lobby. No había suficientes sábanas ni toallas. Cuando pedí, me dijeron que debía llevar las toallas usadas al front desk para que me dieran nuevas, además prometieron llevar sábanas pero nunca lo hicieron.

Terrible experience. Properly is falling apart badly. Furniture is in pieces, no hot (nor even warm) water, bed mattress has a gigantic hole in the middle, hallway smoke detector battery beeping all night, no blockout curtains and last but not least, housekeeping lady knocking on the door (like she’s serving an arrest warrant) just to confirm if we were still in the room. Never again and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
