The bathroom had a leak bubbling up from beneath the tile floor and your feet got wet if you went in there. We told someone and they did nothing to solve it. The wifi was very poor. And, the beach they show is miles away and closed for the season.

Hotel is very good and the staff and amenities are excellent. Great rooftop restaurant and bar with a great view. Our room was rather small and the bathroom was barely manageable because it was so small and they crammed in the bidet and shower. But, that is probably our fault as we booked a basic room. The wifi also was very weak and not effective most of the time. Breakfast was very good and parking was very convenient.

Okay but not sure about 5 star

Nice view for breakfast, but besides that it wasn’t really a 5 star hotel, the room was very small for the cost, the bed wasn’t very comfortable and the breakfast wasn’t the best, for a 5 star hotel. Location is great and the staff were lovely though.

5 Star in Ortigia with a spa and safe easy parking

Location, location, location!

Great location, many Americans staying here end of June, not why we booked, still very Italian hotel. Reception staff are professional and kind, upgraded one of our two triple rooms but we had booked sea view rooms and we did not receive this, we let it slide without mentioning. Breakfast was above average and the servers were outstanding, lovely view and fresh food, good coffee. We had drinks at the roof top bar one evening, great service but over priced drinks, paying for the view, expensive spritz is too much.
The spa was wonderful, we had booked three Acqua express treatments and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, very professional service in a charming venue, don’t miss the small museum next to the spa room with Ancient Greek ruins!
Parking was the best, right across the street from the hotel, safe and easy, 15€ per day was economical for Ortigia.
Our only mention is the bathroom had mold on the marble walls, just a small bit but I am allergic, though we kept the door closed and it was ok. The nightly cookie service was a treat, so try the almond bites!
We will stay here again!

This is not a 5 star hotel. Since you walk in no one helps you with the bags, there is no hospitality and people are extremely rude and not helpful. The rooms smell like an old perfume store and it’s extremely noisy.
Don’t make the same mistake i made! There are better options

Lovely hotel at the north western tip of Ortigia. The whole island is easily walkable and it only yook us 20 minutes ir so to walk to the archealogical park on the mainland.
The staff at the hotel were all very polite, friendly and really helpful especially with our airport transfer at 4.30 am! They even packed us a fantastic breakfast to take with us. Would definitely stay with them again should we return to Sicily.

Great hotel and staff. Only issue i had is that there was no iron in the room. So I had to go to dinner with clothes totally wrinkled. Called front desk and they said they have laundry service and do NOT provide irons to guests? I was in shock. Had dinner in 35 mins and no iron!! Only complaint Front desk was rude when telling me this Otherwise great hotel. Terrace on roof is spectacular, staff there beyond good! Location ideal.

A gem, old school elegance and charm but modern comfort. The hotel was built in the 1860s. It has so much charm and character but the rooms have been redecorated and are elegant and very comfortable. A wonderful rooftop restaurant so you have a view of the harbour and Island. The perfect location. The staff were fantastic and went the extra mile and arranged private tours, gave advice and were just fantastic. Don't stay anywhere else!

The hotel is nicely situated on the island of Ortigia, and is well located for exploring the sights of Siracusa. There is a luxurious quality to the service and some of the fittings in the hotel. The rooms was a good size and clean, and the bed was very comfortable with pillows of various firmness so there is a choice. The only thing I didn’t like about the room was the lighting in the bathroom. It was a bit too dim, a brighter more modern bathroom would be better.
The hotel is facing the sea on the western side of the island, which makes for an ideal location for watching the sunset. The guests were given a voucher on arrival for a free glass of bubbly and some snacks on the rooftop bar in the evening, to take advantage of that. However, at the moment the view is pretty much blocked out by a large Norwegian cruise liner. So if you like looking at big cruise ships, great, otherwise, not so great.
Most importantly the air-conditioning system in the room was great, and really helped me cope with the heat. Also very importantly, of the 3 hotels I stay in on this trip, the only one that had a kettle and tea/coffee.
Breakfast is also on the rooftop bar. There is a good range of food, and to manage the buffet bar due to Covid restrictions, you stood behind a rope and pointed to what you wanted and a server gets the items for you.
Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely be happy to stay there again.

It's classic, which means few outlets (it took me forever to find the off switch for the overhead lights... behind the pillows, in a logical place). Harder place to get any work done in the room. But that's a very minor gripe.

At Euro 300 per night for a family room was told the single bottle of water would be free but any more would be charged. Drank the water on the first night and left out for replacement. It was not replaced. Same water available from supermarket at less than Euro1. Are they serious about customer service. While I booked the room over 6 months ago , the rate I paid was way above the rate on the day. I suggested an upgrade and was shown a room with a sea view, but told an extra Euro 40 per night even though this room was still available on line at less than I had paid.

This hotel is very well situated in Ortigia, the older historic part of Siracusa. The staff were very attentive and the property was very clean. The decor is a bit older and dated but oK. We stayed in a room that consisted of 2 levels which was inconvenient because of some steep stairs separating the bedroom from the washroom and sitting room. Risky walk down to the bathroom was sometimes trying. These rooms are not for those having trouble walking or navigating stairs. Otherwise the room was quiet. The breakfast was great and served on the roof terrace overlooking the harbor with a beautiful view.

A three star experience at a five star hotel.

Air conditioning not working throughout hotel. Stayed in 3 rooms one night and still did not sleep due to heat. No apology from staff (except Chiara the following day). Staff quite rude. There was no compensation offered for inconvenience. Charged full rate for two nights without sleep. Never have we experienced such poor customer service from a supposedly 5 star establishment. Website shows beach facilities but none available. Had to pay $40 Euro for beach experience elsewhere. No offer of compensation. They are the worst 5 star we have ever stayed at and can’t understand how they merit 5 star.

This is a lovely hotel located on the waterfront. Exceptional location, wonderful reception staff (Chiara) and the rooftop bar is amazing (Lorenzo) the breakfast is unbelievable with cappuccino forte (Francesco) We had 6 rooms and my room 22 was on the main level with a hugely high ceiling and my housekeeper did a fabulous job daily. I think this is a gem of a hotel.

The Grand Hotel is in a great location and is a nice hotel. We had a double sea view room and it was good sized and clean and the bed was comfortable. The window opened which was good as the room was quite warm even when it was chilly outside. The main disappointment we had was that the only thing on the rooftop is the restaurant - we were hoping for a bar and/or a common sitting area to relax and enjoy the view but there is none at the hotel.

Great traditional style hotel, situated in a quiet corner of Ortiga yet only a few steps from the bustling historic streets of this beautiful place. Our triple room was set out over two levels and very comfortable. Breakfast on the roof terrace is a treat not to be missed.

Only criticism is the WiFi was poor and not up to current expected standard.

All the common areas of the hotel are magnificent! The bathrooms are updated and very nice as well. The room itself leaves something to be desired and is very small. I would definitely stay here again as the location is perfect and the rooftop restaurant makes some of the best food in the city.

We had a wonderful time in Siracusa. The Grant Hotel Ortigia was excellent and the service was likewise. The concierge got us a terrific guide for our visit to the archaeological sites. The rooms we had were just what we had requested including a fabulous view of the sea. In addition, we had to go from Siracusa to Catania to catch a late overnight train to Milan. The manager graciously allowed us a room until our departure. It was extremely important. Sebastian was just terrific and we so appreciate his gesture on our behalf.

Mixed feelings about this hotel.

Stayed 2 nights. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed and had a nice view over the marina. However, it was beneath the restaurant, and the noise from the kitchen came right into your room. When we complained we were immediately offered an alternative room but as the noise had disappeared by then we stayed where we were. Then we discovered the shower tap was broken and the water temperature varied during the span of a shower. Also, the shower leaked badly so the floor was sopping wet by the time your shower was done. we complained about the tap and it was fixed.

We stayed one day in Ortigia and one night at the hotel. Ortigia is a nice old town but there isn't a lot to do and see so one day was more than enough. Our room had a loft where the bed and the bathroom were located - hadn't seen that layout in a hotel room before.

Grand Hotel Ortigia

The Grand Hotel Ortigia was probably one of the best hotels in Saracuse. However for a 5* hotel I did not expect to find a large crack in the sink in the bathroom and the bath/shower area in need of re-grouting. All communal areas were well maintained. The rooftop dining area overlooking the harbour was a very pleasant area to enjoy breakfast. All in all due to the hotel's good location and the fact we did not see another hotel better than this (except one other 5* hotel that was closed for refurbishment) I would recommend this hotel.

Room was so small that there was no place to put luggage. Bed barely fit in bedroom. Bathroom was extra small as well. Very uncomfortable and dark accommodations, checked in late so likely got the worse room left. Staff was great and accommodating and the breakfast buffet was excellent, would not stay here again for fear of same situation next time.

The room we stayed in October did not go below 25.5c despite the air conditioning set on 18. The stairs to the bed space were very steep and the only toilet was down stairs.
The lights were very complicated and no explanation was offered..

This hotel has many qualities, location, service and friendly staff are just a few.
The room we had was on the side of the hotel with a partial view of the bay. We asked for an up grade on arrival only to find the hotel was dulled booked......good indicator.
