Beautiful hotel, but lacks service. We had several issues with the hotel from being locked in the bathroom (they had to break the door to open) to another room flooding out. It was all handled, but no apology from the managment or anything. Wrote hotel and only received an immediate response from Marriott, not Ortea.

There were ants in our first floor bathroom. They sent someone to clean and take care of them. They essentially just left them on the ground dead. Hotel was nice. No complimentary bikes to use per website. Pool can only be used with kids 2 hrs per day allotted time.

During our 3 nights in the hotel the air conditioning system didn't function, there was a thunderstorm that flooded our room and the entrance door to our room wouldn't lock when we exited the room.

The hotel/ Expedia did not adequately compensate us for the inconvenience.

The hotel is beautiful, well located and very comfortable however.

Best luxury hotel in Ortigia/Syracusa

The best (perhaps the only) luxury hotel in Ortigia. Excellent location on the sea within walking distance to the everything. Very nice rooms. We had a Garamond Jr. Suite. The staff is super friendly and sleep good English. Service was excellent. The buffet breakfast was very nice (€50 if you prepay it). Valet parking available (€40). The only complaints we had were that the pillows were not comfortable, the mattress was super firm, there was no comforter (only a thin blanket), and that may things were not functioning. For example there were two awnings in our balcony and one could not be opened. The pool has pretty mosaics but no chairs to rest near the pool. Hamas/steam room and some of the showers didn’t work. The pool has nice chairs inside the pool with spa jets but none of them worked. Still in spite of all that we would defiantly stay there again since it’s the only luxury hotel in town

Beautiful historical building with common areas that have a “wow” factor. Room was specious and had a view of the water.

Everything on the island is walkable. Enjoyed being in proximity to the market and shopping.

Only minor piece of feedback was this was the one and only hotel during our trip to Sicily that did not provide complimentary breakfast. Seems like that could be considered given the price of the room.

Location: Excellent, on Ortigia island but close to mainland. Near open air market & many good restaurants.
Facilities: Common areas are superb & luxurious. Room is OK, not great. Bathroom too small, especially shower, which also leaks after each use.
Service: At breakfast, service is excellent. Housekeeping is OK, sometimes good, sometimes a bit off.
Food: Judging from breakfast, restaurant probably very good.
In conclusion: If the bathroom was larger and better, it would truly be a 5-star experience, otherwise I feel it's only 4-star.

The hotel is superbly comfortable and the staff have been attentive yo the needs of guests. The building is unique and has preserved it’s original features without compromising comfort. Breakfast staff members have been both very kind to me and to my little dog (thank you, Frderica). Talking about my dog, he loved the room and the bed. I cannot wait to return.

We had such a wonderful stay. The hotel staff were always welcoming and treated us so well. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel was located in an excellent location: bus to airport was a 10min walk away; bars, restaurants and shops just a short stroll; it was also very quiet so not disturbed at all. An amazing hotel with fantastic staff who are really friendly and can’t do enough for you but are genuine and not sycophantic. The room we had was brilliant - split over two levels with a fab bath it was u like any other room we’d been in.

Unfortunately the surrounding area doesn’t match the high standards of Ortea Palace. Not that it’s bad but you’d expect the area to be lovely too and it’s not of the same standard. Still highly recommended but just the surrounding area isn’t five star. The hotel definitely is!!!

A Unique and Exquisitely Elegant Hotel

This is an exquisite property beautifully refurbished in every detail. The staff make you feel welcome the minute you arrive until the day you leave, the entire time like totality.

A few practical recommendations to help enhance the experience would be to provide a rubber bath mat in the shower. The marble floor with soapy water is extremely slippery and dangerous. A trash can is needed under the sink in the bedroom. The bedroom is dominated by the bathtub, a chair is needed here too. An iron and ironing board in the closet would be a nice addition to help travelers immediately fix their wrinkled clothes. Nearly all Marriotts provide them.

It's a very cool hotel that used to be a post office, so there is an interesting mix of old and new building design. Overall, the room we stayed in was very elegant with high ceilings, velvet curtains and chairs, and antique furniture, with modern technology and bathrooms. The location is great -- just over the bridge which makes it easy to get on and off Ortigia -- and within easy walking distance of all the things to do and see on the island. The only downside is parking which is near impossible to find on your own, so we paid the 40 Euros a day to valet park. Also, the front desk is sorely understaffed, which meant we were always waiting for help. A hotel like this should not have one person working the front desk during check out!

Lovely staff at the check-in desk who were so welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. Breakfast was great and made to order options included was a nice bonus! The rooms were beautiful and clean. Easy to notice since everything is white. Self parking is just in front of the hotel. It’s a public lot and 15 Euros for 24 hours. Hotel will register your car for you with the municipality. There’s valet but not worth it when you can literally walk outside and get into your car yourself and go. Location is central to many sites and easy to navigate. Only downside was that it was a bit warm in the rooms. Thankfully the windows open and it was cool outside during our late May visit. Overall we would absolutely recommend and stay here again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Ortea Palace Luxury Hotel, and I can confidently say that it was an outstanding experience. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, exuding a perfect blend of modern elegance and timeless charm. The attention to detail was impeccable, creating a luxurious and comfortable retreat. However, what truly made my stay exceptional was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Concetta, in particular, went above and beyond to assist us with activity suggestions, making plans, and securing reservations. Her expertise and genuine care made our stay truly memorable. Additionally, the breakfast spread was simply amazing, offering a wide variety of delectable options. The restaurant staff, especially Angelo, Frederica and Stefano provided exceptional service with their kindness and attentiveness. From start to finish, the Ortea Palace Luxury Hotel provided an unforgettable experience, and I cannot wait to return in the future.

This review could have been so different if the hotel had expressed any sort of acknowledgement to our situation.
On our first night, there was a leak in the upstairs bedroom ceiling. When going to bed around 11 pm, I slipped and fell on the water puddle, thankfully I did not get hurt. The hotel immediately sent two workers to investigate. Apparently there was a leak in the ceiling which the hotel knew about as they had placed a small container above the ceiling to catch water from a dripping pipe. Unfortunately the container was not in the correct place and the water dripped from the ceiling onto the bedroom floor, creating a large puddle. The hotel offered us two other rooms to choose from. We repacked our clothes then moved to the new room, it was the same type room, just a little smaller. After this the hotel made no effort to say that they were sorry for the inconvenience, not even a note from the manager. There was a note the next day , but it was a welcome note to another guest. After our three night stay at checkout, I mentioned the flood to the front desk and said it would be nice if the hotel comped us for our incidental charges ( totaling 95 euros) due to the inconvenience of having to change rooms at midnight. The desk person checked with the manager and the response was \"not possible\" as we had prepaid the room and the hotel bar was part of a different system. Definitely not a five star luxury experience.

Highlight hotel of our trip

This hotel is only four years old. The original building was an elegant former post office. Although the standard room was not large in floorplan, it was artfully appointed with high ceilings, faced an inner courtyard, and in an ideal location to explore the island on foot. The staff was outstanding! We were given a welcome iced drink on check in, sat in plush chairs in their lobby, while we waited a few minutes to check into our room. Cannoli and bottled water was on the table in our guest room. The staff dropped off a dessert each night as well. The spa was free, we reserved it for two hours and that meant we had the entire place to our selves. What value for the money! Breakfast was outstanding! They do everything right at this place:)
Only drawback, there was no signs outside with the hotel’s name. Almost like they wanted to keep it as a “ private club”. The hotel has been bought by a large American chain. I hope it can retain its Sicilian charm!

Stayed all over Sicily on this trip and the Ortega Palace was by far the best hotel experience. The room was superb (Junior Suite) and the hospitality service was fantastic.

We were greeted at check in by what seemed to be our own personal check in assistant, shown to our room and she did not leave until we were happy with the accommodations (we were). The breakfast and service was fantastic and the reserved, complimentary use of the spa area (pool, sauna, steam room) made it a very nice, private experience. It was also much welcomed relaxation after spending a day walking the streets of Siracusa and Ortigia.

Beautiful hotel with great service, conveniently located adjacent to paid public parking. I realized how great the parking was after watching large numbers of people lugging their suitcases through the streets of Ortigia to get to hotels more centrally located near Piazza Minerva.

Hotel very well located in front on one of the two municipal parking lots so you can leave your car in front of the hotel. Since it is at the entry of Ortigia island, every interesting restaurant or sight is within walking distance. The staff was courteous and the property is really a luxury setting.

The property itself was wonderful and the room was excellent. The property deserves five stars. Housed in a fully renovated post office with great views of the sea. However, the service needs some help - considering that “luxury” is in the name of the hotel. I had to ask four times over a four hour period to get an iron. The 75 rooms share only one or two irons. When it arrived the iron was leaking and the top of the board was badly burned with a long sheet covering it. They also do not allow you to control the temperature on the room - at least below 23C which is warm in my opinion. Oh, you can turn the thermostat down to 13C upon request but that will NOT lower the temperature in the room below 23C because the hotel controls it centrally. When ask - which I did repeatedly - three individual staff members misrepresented the situation until the fourth actually told me the truth. Beautiful hotel and room but not particularly focused on customer service or comfort.

Fantastic staff and customer service. Concierge Conchetta was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and has contacts to help get us a last minute dinner booking. The hotel is top of the line. We were greeted by Nicollette with a cool granite refreshment when we arrived. The hotel is a restored post office. Nicollette gave us a tour of the post office architecture. It is elegant, yet unpretentious. There was a safe, public parking in front of the hotel. The inclusive breakfast was vast, with American and Italian food. The duplex room was amazing with a full bathroom on each floor. The hotel is on the north east side of Ortiga. It was easy to see all of the sights.

Such a beautiful property near the waterfront. Close to shops, restaurants, Historical sites, and not to far from the Caravaggio painting. The hotel contains paintings and beautiful lighting and flourishes. We Loved our room and the staff was so helpful. I needed to print paperwork and have paperwork scanned and emailed back to me. It was done quickly and efficiently. Public parking is nearby or have your car valeted. So convenient.
