All staff were very polite and helpful. I liked they responded my questions quickly by messages. Good location to go to Ortigia, also to Neapolis. Room was spacious and very clean.
We loved our stay, however we didn't feel luxurious as a five star hotel.

Convenient location

The hotel is conveniently located to easily walk places of interest, especially to Ortigia. Although there was no parking around the hotel, it was very easy to walk across to the nearby public parking. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The continental style breakfast had all we needed. Although the room we had was spotlessly clean and comfortable, it was a little tired/worn in parts that I wouldn’t normally expect in a 5*. But overall it was a comfortable room.

The hotel was truly lovely, clean and in a perfect location for all our jaunts; we were greeted warmly by all staff we encountered. The included Buffet Breakfast was varied and fresh. We did not try the in-house restaurant but the menu was very interesting snd upscale. I highly recommend the Caportigia Boutique Hotel and we would gladly stay again!

Save your money - pick another hotel

A/C in the room was unable to keep room at a temperature that was even close to comfortable. Upon arriving, there was zero attempt to assist with our bags or even show us the way to the room. Upon checkout, there was a gentlemen standing next to the desk simply watching my partner try to haul bags out to the waiting car while I was waiting for the slowest ever check out process to proceed. Zero attempt to help was made by the staff. If this was a 3 star, it would make sense. They bill themselves as a 5 star - there is zero about this hotel or the staff that says 5 star. Barely even 4.

This stay was part of a surprise trip to Sicily for my husband’s 40th. I had high expectations for this hotel given the reviews and the images. Sadly it was a let down.

Parking was free street parking, thankfully this was easy. The walk to Ortigia was a simple 10 mins. Beyond that, those were the only real pluses. Our room was right next to the lift (203) and was pretty tired. Mould in the bathroom, peeling paint and not a single mirror in the bedroom. Just a mirror above the sink, so no chance to check your outfit. It also has one of those old fashioned hair dryer units on the wall to dry your hair but is sadly so weak you could be there several days before your hair is dry. We had come from a 4* in Taormina which had basic amenities you come to expect from a hotel - an actual hair dryer, dressing gowns, slippers and a steamer. None of which was present at this hotel. The worst thing though was the constant dripping sound from the air con unit. For me this wasn’t the soundtrack to a good night’s sleep. Sadly this wasn’t the hotel experience I wanted for my husband’s birthday. I suspect there are better hotels in a similar price bracket.

Hotel was a very short walk to old town and in a great place for places to eat and drink.

Chic, charming hotel in the heart of Syracuse

This is a chic, well-appointed hotel with charming rooms in a central location in Syracuse -- situated between the enormous Greek ruins and the charming old Roman section of Ortigia. The rooms are clean and elegant, with creative decor, comfortable beds, and modern bathrooms. The lobby is bright and cheerful. The attached dining area is large and airy, offering a large, many-option and reasonably-priced buffet breakfast. The staff are kind and helpful.

My only suggestion to the hotel is to offer in-room fresh water in pitchers or reusable glass bottles instead of in single-use plastic bottles.

We enjoyed our stay. Not sure it is a 5 star hotel but definitely 4! The room had high ceilings and a tall window looking on to a courtyard.
The bed was comfortable. Everything to Ortigia was within walking distance.
The roof top patio was a lovely addition and we enjoyed reading and soaking up some sun .. in November which was lovely.
The staff were friendly at reception and the breakfast was decent.. particularly enjoyed the coffee.
The one thing that we found rather cheap for a 5 star hotel is the minibar offers water complimentary on the first day but after that there is a charge. When a reputable guidebook strongly says don’t drink the water particularly in Siracusa, due to old pipes… ( there definitely was hard water at this hotel with some iron) then it would have been nice to have had water each day.. included!!

I was so disappointed with this "Fancy" hotel. The location was great and easy to find. When we got to the lobby, the hotel looked clean and nicely decorated. Check in was easy. We got to our room 205 and it was nice.

We immediately noticed some water damage on the ceiling in the bathroom areas and closet. Didn't think much of it until that night it started raining..As we were sleeping around 3am, they was water coming out of the bathroom ceiling. It was so bad that it sounded like someone had turned on the shower. My husband quickly got up and started to hold the trash can under.

I ran down to the lobby to get help, and the whole lobby was flooded. The older guy at the reception was in the phone. Once he got off I asked to call the manager and help us out. He just said "I don't know".

Next morning, we went down to talk to someone else and got no help. We explained that basically we had to use all our towels to stop the water. The lady at the reception said to me " we are on code red and this is not hotels fault". I was pissed and finally told her that I wanted her to tell her Manager that I'm not paying for the night and this unacceptable.

She said she would talk to her manager. Then she came in our room with house cleaning and brought extra towels. She also took pictures of the areas that were leaking.

Second night it rained again and we complained again. Eventually, they did not charge us for the first night and discount the second night.

The staff were lovely and the location is fairly good, however it does not feel like a 5 star hotel - felt a lot closer to 3 stars or maybe 4 stars at a push. It just felt a bit dingy for the price unfortunately, there were lots of dark marks on the wall in the room, unexplained yellow staining in the wardrobe, also noticed some bubbles in the wall in the bathroom so maybe some condensation, and the tap was also really limescaley and needed a good clean. There was also no bath and no other rooms with a bath when we asked, which is not the biggest issue but would've been good if it were clearly stated there were only showers. We were in the junior room which had the bed on a separate floor to the bathroom/living area which wasn't ideal but not the biggest issue overall, just wish that had been clearly specified as the pictures didnt make it look clear that was every room and we were told there were no other options without the separate floor when we asked.

The included breakfast was also a bit disappointing. Not really any hot food included (you can get a portion scrambled/fried eggs made to order), everything else is just various cakes and bread which is okay but not really what you'd expect for 5 stars. We ordered from the a la carte menu on one of the days to see if that improved it, but the avocado we received was really underipe and unpleasant so we didn't attempt it again.

Not a bad hotel but given the 5 star price point it didn't really deliver

A modernised building with good size bedrooms and bathrooms. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The evening restaurant is run by a very creative lady chef. The wines and food were expensive. Although the dishes were not large plates of food, quality produce was used and meals were memorable. It is possible to have room only and then add on breakfast or dinner if needed.

I really liked this hotel. The breakfast was amazing, pastries, yogurt, eggs to order. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. Our train had problems, and we did not arrive in Syracusa till midnight. The hotel put us in touch with a cab driver who met us at the station, and the hotel staff checked us in late. They also helped arrange a boat tour around the island. The room was a good size, and comfortable and clean.

We stayed 2 nights in Syracuse and the staff assisted us with arranging excursions and a bonus discount. They made our stay comfortable by providing a fan, and leaving the air conditioning on when we were away from the property. The weather has been exceptionally warm so we were very appreciative. The property is clean, the staff is friendly and redponsive6. The location is within walking distance from the downtown and parking was available. Highly recommend it to anyone!!

Great hotel, but important to know where to park!

We had a lovely stay and the team was incredibly accommodating throughout our time there.

However we pulled into Siracusa expecting to find parking at the hotel only to find out the parking is 15 minutes away and managed by a valet service. The hotel helped us find a free spot on the street for our car, but it made for a very confusing start to the stay!

Beautiful boutique hotel fully renovate

We had a very nice stay at Caportigia. We had to book a "Classic" room since no larger rooms were available. The room was adequate by European standards but there is no armchair or couch to sit on. The bathroom is very well appointed.
The size of the room does not matter too much as there is a lovely rooftop terrace if the weather is nice, or a large lounge on the ground floor.

This is a small boutique hotel, located about 15 min walk from the island of Ortigia. The walk is easy, safe, and interesting. It is down one of the main streets. The same walking distance is toward archeological park. I liked the location of this hotel - it was right in the middle, next to a lovely park and had a free street parking.
This hotel has a roof-top terrace with jacuzzi (which is lovely after a long day of exploring) and a restaurant. The restaurant is fine dinning with unique flavors and good selection of Sicilian wines. Service is impeccable. We had a dinner there one night and enjoyed it very much. Breakfast is in the same restaurant in the morning and it is lovely. Great variety and very tasty.
The room that we had was on the top floor, with individual terrace and individual jacuzzi. It was clean and comfortable, nice big bed, coffee maker, fridge. Very nice! Suggestion: use slippers when your feet are wet and especially when you are stepping out of a jacuzzi. All floors are tiled and could very slippery when wet.

Martina at the front desk who welcomed us was fantastic the breakfast was great good location car parking made easy two things that we found needed to be addressed, on the first night we had turn down , second and third night , no turn down, second night night we asked for the extra amenities, shampoo etc, , after a big walk on first walked into the restaurant area to have a drink, no one in the restaurant and I was told to wait by the young waiter and we decided to go to our room , I would like to know what we had to wait for when no one was in the restaurant, all we wanted was a night cap

Very convenient location to restaurants and sights in Siracusa. Our suite could have used more counter space and drawers. The bedroom was up steep stairs with no handrail making it dangerous for seniors.

This hotel is a real find, a good location and beautiful facilities. The breakfast was amazing! Staff were very friendly and helpful.
If you arrive by car take care to check for parking restrictions as we were caught out by these and had to pay a fine.

This boutique hotel was an excellent choice for our 2 night stay in Siracusa, wish we could have stayed longer. The property has been nicely remodeled with so many artsy details to emphasize the history of the building. The location is a short walk away from Ortigia, very convenient yet outside the main crowded areas. The room was very comfortable and the amenities excellent. The breakfast buffet was very nice with a variety for savory and sweet options. Lastly, the staff from the reception and the restaurant was very friendly and helpful, thank you all for the hospitality!

Very stylish. Interesting use of materials.
Beutiful room and bathroom with small balcony over the street.
Well located, short walking distance of Ortigia.
Hard edged and not cosy.
