I was welcomed so warmly. Great staff who went out of their way to make it a great stay. The room was a bit old, the shower was a bit unusual, but it was very charming and the view out over the water was amazing! Close to everything but also off to the side to be quiet enough. Would definitely recommend

Highly recommend this cozy waterfront property. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We received beautiful upgraded seaview rooms. The rooms were clean and modern with 24 hr front desk attendants. If you are travelling solo, you will feel very safe here. Shout out to Cinzia! She recommended local restaurants, all of which were excellent. Parking is available at a private parking garage nearby for €25.00/day which includes valet pick up and drop off. We will not hesitate to book this hotel on our next trip to Ortigia.

We weren't the easiest guests im sure, we had many small, but persistent requests and the staff were consistently friendly, and more than happy to meet our requests with grace and enthusiasm. Our stay in Ortigia was enhanced by the staff at the Dorus Mariae Albergo. I can't comment on breakfast, as we opted to have brunch at a nearby Bistro, but this is in no way a comment on the breakfasts at the hotel; this is simply how we like to holiday.
Overall, a wonderful experience here, with wonderful staff in an absolutely beautiful location.

The Domus Mariae Albergo was an exceptional find! The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in finding parking (an issue in Ortigia), recommending sites to see as well as authentic restaurants patronized by the locals. The room was clean, the linens crisp and bathroom well appointed. We will stay here again when next in Siracusa!

Just left a wonderful stay in Ortigia. The hotel was amazing! Friendly, sweet staff.. very helpful. The room was quiet, clean with a little balcony. The entire island is walkable in every direction. 15 mins max from one side to the other. 3 mins from fresh food market for fresh spices, seafood, veggies and fruit, and much much more.

On hotels.com website, they said they has elevator. But they don't. The front desk is on 2nd FL and our room was on 4th FL. The staircases are narrow and slippery. The ceiling above the staircases are low and must bend head to pass. Otegia is a small island. This hotel is far from all the atractions and restaurants. Its name include doumo. I thought it must be very close to catherdral. But it is quite a walk. The amenities in the room is very basic, nearly to none.

This was the nicest place we stayed in Sicily. The staff was absolutely the friendliest and best. They gave us free complimentary breakfast each day. Make sure to ask for an ocean-view room with balcony - absolutely stunning vistas, and you can go out and swim in the crystal-clear warm blue waters or sun on the rocks. Hotel is in Ortigia, the trendy island that was ancient Syracuse, walking distance to wonderful restaurants, shops, outdoor cafes, gelato, and all the important archeological sites of Syracuse. This place was a gem! Parking was available nearby. One small warning: no elevator, and rooms are up two or three flights of stairs, but they carry luggage up stairs to you room for free. They also help with getting a shuttle or cab, tour reservations and recommendations. They even have free bicycles you can use to explore the city.

Hotel was overall very tired, bathroom requres update, toilet seat cheap and wobbled, shower didnt drain properly so showering had to be quick. Kettle had no near socket and had to be plugged into light socket and handle became hot, TV didnt work. Terrace nothing like the picture as most furniture old and broken. Gym not available but some very old pieces of gym equipment were available which we used but doubt it met safety standards. Such a shame as the location was fantastic and the staff were great and really helpful. The entire hotel requires an internal facelift

Look no further, this is a lovely place to stay with amazing views from the windows and perfectly situated for exploring Syracusa. Staff were so friendly and helpful, I felt very well looked after.

This place is more like a B&B. Location is excellent, on water and walkable to everything. It is an old convent converted to B&B, there are no elevators. If you are not in an ocean view room then it is just an ordinary experience. We had the view and it was amazing.

Just a great location with a balcony with incredible sea views! We loved the place! Staff kind and helpful and they went out of their way to help us! No elevator but the staff brought our bags up to the room. So nice! No parking on site, but they have a nearby parking garage staff come and get the car and park it for you. This does cost an extra €20/night but well worth it. We didn’t opt for their €13 breakfast buffet but instead found a great breakfast cafe just down the street recommended by the staff. We were able to swim near the hotel off the sea wall. Water was warm and very clear! Overall a great experience for us!! We would stay there again for sure!!

Domus Mariae Albergó is a gem overlooking the sea in Ortigia. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the sea and the sounds and salt breeze were delightful. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was at sister inn across the street Staff were very helpful. Location was close to sea wall but not far - a few minutes walk- from restaurants and shopping.

We stayed 1 night in Syracuse and really enjoyed our stay at Domus Mariae Albergo. One huge bonus for us was the ability to drive right up to the property and drop off our luggage. This isn't always possible when traveling in Italy. As mentioned by other reviewers, this property doesn't have an elevator so if you large luggage, this might be a challenge.
Our room was pretty basic, but because we weren't in Syracuse for very long, location was most important for us. The property is close to historical sites in Ortigia and has great restaurants nearby. In addition to that, the staff at Domus Mariae Albergo were extremely friendly and helpful. The clerk at the front desk even took the initiative to note down our license plate and register our car while we got settled into our rooms.
Free parking is available near the property but is very limited so we ended up parking in a paid lot. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay here.

We had a lovely stay here. The staff are absolutely wonderful! They recommended marvelous places for dinner and lunch, were so helpful making sure we were comfortable. The view from our room was AMAZING. We looked right out onto the sea. So beautiful! The location of the hotel is fantastic for seeing the historic part of Syracuse and we will definitely stay there again if ever we are in town.

Wonderful hotel, beautiful view of the sea and some of the friendliest, most helpful staff we've ever experienced at any hotel anywhere. Cinzia and Davide made us feel like family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was great, the room was clean and the location was perfect for exploring Ortygia. Would definitely stay here again. The property is right near the water and we had a sea-view room (which I highly recommend) with the magnificent view of the harbor and the fresh ocean breeze and huge breaking waves. There is no elevator that might be a concern for some people and one cannot drive up to the hotel to drop off the luggage before parking the car at a municipal covered parking about 10 min walk away. If this is not a concern, then I highly recommend this property because of its great location. The staff was very helpful with everything. Breakfast was very good served across the street at a nice cafe.

We stayed in the converted convent across the road from the main hotel. No lift and 58 steps to climb to our room on the top floor. Not suitable if you have walking or climbing issues. Great way to keep fit though. Great sea view from the room. Breakfast across the road in the main hotel was very good. Main hotel even has its own church! Bathroom was very tired and the shower cubicle was clearly from the 20th century and very tired. On arrival and during stay Cinzia was amazingly helpful and all the other staff very very good also. Good location for sight seeing and local restaurants.

Good size rooms with comfortable bed. Views to the front are right on the ocean but even the back on the top floor looks over picturesque rooftops. We were with friends for 4 nights and the staff provided glasses for our roof deck picnic and beach towels when we ventured to the beaches south of Noto. And we could walk everywhere in the old city! Only drawback for some would be the stairs- there is no elevator.
