The Grand is an imposing Victorian hotel nestled at the foot of the Great Orme with views over the bay and promenade. The Grand underwent a refurbishment programme in 2006 and is now one of the resort's premier hotels.

Booked as advertised as dog friendly! We were not allowed to eat, drink or attend the cabaret with the dog. Dog was only allowed in the room! This is not dig friendly which meant we had to go out in the freezing cold wet westher to find somewhere that would allow dogs.

Shower tray was overflowing, and the room was very basic—only one bedside table and lamp, and no pictures or decor. Apart from that, they were sparkling clean and a pleasant surprise after reading past reviews. We got there only to find the kitchens were closed due to refurbishment, so we couldn't wake up and nip down for breakfast. An email or notification when booking to let us know would have been nice. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and the evening entertainment was brilliant.would definitely stay again for this price..

We booked a post-New Year getaway looking for a cheap change of scenery and didn't mind that the hotel is currently being refurbished. While the room was basic, it was spotless and boasted an incredible view of the sea. There was something \"Overlook Hotel\" about the atmosphere (in a good way!), and watching the wild weather from the comfort of a warm bed was a highlight.

However, the breakfast experience was a letdown. The main draw here is the view, but we were stopped from sitting by the windows. A rather surly chef told us to sit in an adjoining room facing a wall, pointing out that two high chairs were blocking the way as a \"barrier.\" When we tried to find another seat, we were told to move again. It feels like a missed opportunity not to let guests enjoy the scenery they came for.

On the plus side, the reception staff were lovely and the holiday decor was very festive. The sea view ultimately made the trip worth it, but the dining service could use some of that same friendliness.

First room was bad then I asked to be moved having to pay more money to move that room was just a bad had cracked toilet room dirty dirt and dust under the bed the sink would not empty and when flushing the toilet came up in to sink balcony unsafe bed not comfortable both was glad to leave report everything to manager who is looking into it and offered full refund

Major negative !
There were black marks possibly from previous damp penetration on the west facing wall. We had unpacked or I would have refused the room. I cleaned them off myself.
When I explained to reception they simply apologised but didn’t see over concerned???
Hotel very run down in need of major refurbishment.

Positive.
Room was clean apart from DAMP wall.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Entertainment was mediocre .
Breakfast was average.

The sea view was excellent.

Would stay again but would inspect room before occupying.

Overall enjoyable stay.

Old and dated. Definitely needs a massive surge of cash spending on it but staff were pleasant, bedding was clean and water was hot.
Evening meal was unimaginative and basic. Evening entertainment was good with a quiz, bingo , show and karaoke - just what we needed on a blustery, rainy evening which was too bad to venture out. We had a good stay, no problem.

place needed a good clean in places bedding was clean and fresh and it could do with a lick of paint everywhere. no service of your room the whole entire stay if you want fresh towels, tea coffee etc or toilet roll you have to ask at reception. breakfast was ok plenty of it and warm. staff very friendly i would stop again as it met our needs

No parking, Patio door wouldn`t lock and safety device was not connected even though there was a warning on the hotel leaflet not to use the balcony for safety reasons. Bathroom door could not be closed from outside ( no handles) to stop the permanent light shining through during the night. The staff were excellent as was the food the dining room was also well kept.

Me and my family stayed here for the weekend, ill start with the Negatives the ground floor toilets has you enter were not acceptable there was never any toilet paper or soap and a dirty nappy was left in the middle of the floor which i understand is not the hotels fault but the disgusting person who left it there but when the reception staff were informed they said they couldint do anything about it at that time and the nappy was still there later that day which just means there is no regular cleaner or inspection of the toilets. On first appearances the hotel didnt really impress me its shabby looking and there is bird poo on all the windows which is quite sickening when your eating breakfast in the dining room, all the wndows could do with a good clean. These were my only nagative points has i was pleasently supprised just how much i enjoyed my stay here, the staff are pleasent, the hotel was nicer on the inside, our quadruple room was basic and nice with tea making facilities, t.v, wardrobe, the room was clean and the bed was the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. The entertainment that night was good also with 2 singers and then a giggle at the karaoke, i stayed up way past my bedtime for it lol. The dining room was a nice size, i liked the buffet breakfast and the food was good. Overall despite my nagatives i would stay in this hotel again.

Worst i ever found, blocked my door next day because they forgot to take from me the deposit for the pet and to be refunded after check out, i didn't receive my money back,Expedia site they do nothing, the only nice things its where it is the hotel,nice view...nothing else,very expensive for the condition, dirty on the windows,small of bleach and a lot of hear on the floor,toilet small in the morning....disappointed for the money i paid for 2 nights its not worth

Nice hotel and location but staff need training and need to welcome in good manner as they need to know the hospitality and warm welcome and explain all the facilities such as breakfast timing ,breakfast area ,check out time ,prices of breakfast internet facilities and how to connect and also surrounding and many more which makes the guest more satisfied and happy for the services as people pay for services and wanted to feel that they are in such environment where they enjoy and get relax and enjoy the holidays and stay .

Not so “Grand”…

Check in was ok - despite conflicting information on the Hotels.com website. The room had a view of the sea, but also had a hole in the wall. There was no plug in the wash basin. When this was reported, a plug was provided - but it was too small and we had to McGuiver a solution. There was only one bedside table, no power outlets close to the bed, no extra blankets in case the room was cold, and the window didn’t close properly. We stayed for four nights and there was no housekeeping (clean sheets, towels etc) during our stay. No toilet brush…

Although it appears improvements have been made to the property, I’m sure there are better places available for a lower price.

The property did not respond to various enquiries made through the Hotels.com app, and there helpline number was a premium rate number.

Location was perfect but rooms were terrible walls wafer thin you could hear neighbours both sides and above, the floor boards creaked so loud in all rooms by us, a few times when we were in bed we thought people had entered our room due to thin wall's.Had a family room with grandson it was so small you had to walk sideways to get to the dirty french windows that was falling apart, balcony was dismal. Worse hotel weve ever stayed in in over 30years. Blonde haired receptionist was cocky and unhelpful, asked for milk, teabags, toilet roll and towels to be taken to room, she started laying them out on counter! We had a 4 night stay. Best advice i can give is give it a wide berth.

It is what it is - a good price for an ok hotel

We needed a last-minute hotel for one night at a reasonable price and this was by far the cheapest. I was aware of its reputation and was very wary.
But check-in was very quick and the room was ok.
The bathroom has been refurbished so it wasn't too bad although the finish and attention to detail was awful. I was pleasantly surprised to find a panel not curtain for the shower.
Room was small but includes an iron and kettle with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. There are plenty of plugs.
Of course, by far the best feature is the hotel's location right next to the pier with amazing views across the bay.
If the price were right, I would definitely stay again.

It's basic accommodation, so dont expect too much. If that doesn't bother you, then you'll be happy staying there. No housekeeping service or much maintenance in general, but you get what you pay for. The breakfast is very basic and bland, not worth mentioning, to be honest. I was happy with the room, basic but perfect location. :)

This must have been a truly magnificent building when it was new, now it's a bit tired, there are plastic conduits stuck onto the old walls with high ceilings that take the power to the crystal chandeliers. The green carpet does not go with the turquoise ceiling and battle ship grey paint on the wood chip wallpaper, but it all shows the history of the building and I find the result charming, it has character.

Requested a refund and we ended up getting told non refundable so was £144 out of pocket and had to fork out more money to get a different hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE

We were there for 2days. No one bothered us and it was nice & quiet. Staff were friendly. However although inside the rooms were clean, the windows were very dirty. The rest of the hotel was very stuffy with no proper insulation and ventilation. It had very dusty smells which almost triggered my asthma whenever we left our room. The balcony was very dirty as well with broken metal rods and bird soils all around. We felt a bit unsafe to stand the balcony and this needs maintenance and cleaning.


Other than everything else went smooth and I enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a very nice spot that is very accessible to most things we needed.

Looks like a WWII bombsite outside due to historic fire damage.Very shabby, tired, delapidated decoration externally. Top floor (5) not accessable by lift as out of order and requiring hand luggage to be carried by myself, from floor 4 to floor 5, I was not even offered assistance at all. The bannister hand rail from floors 4 to 5 was very dirty and sticky, our request to have it cleaned was carried out very quickly by the house staff in their defence. The corridors to our room, like the external, tired and shabby, rainwater stains, marks on the walls and ceilings, water penetration evident! The room was pleasant enough, clean and well presented, The windows have probably not been cleaned since installation leading to the requested sea view being some what obscured! No car parking facilities at all, so parking available in council roadside at £5.50 for 4 hours, though free between 4pm till 10am, assuming you can find a space, We have stayed in other Hotels in the past in LLandudno, we appreciate that they are all Victorian / Edwardian properties and require a lot of love and attention, some properties obviously receiving more than others, it would appear that, I`m sorry to say` the supposed `Grand`est is receiving the least. This despite the high turnover of Guests. I believe our experience of \"The Grand Hotel\" fell very short of our expectations and has left us very disappointed considering the price we paid for our 49th Wedding Anniversary accomodation !

Dirty. Room smelt like urine and the carpet was soggy. Placed in a top attic window with window looking into a window tunnel, with it being so windy the window kept blowing open through the night and it was so noisy.

Both my daughters have coughs since going (foisty and mould probably to blame). Bar staff miserable except one young lad. Check in said 1pm on a Wednesday... But couldnt check in till 3. Very dirty overall and saw several police visits to hotel rooms.

Will NOT be returning.

Food extremely basic 2 choices at dinner + vegetarian if you are not there at 5.30 expect 1 choice , staff have no manners, the ents team are the only good thing and put 100% into with little feed back. The public areas the reception , bar and restaurant are beautiful and clean, the rest of building very tired looking and looks like minimal clean done. Would not go back like a typical pontins

Grand Not Grand !!!

Room was way too hot all night, room very basic and dark,lack of plug sockets and one was broken. Very noisy with doors banging and loud voices. Drinks poor quality and flat for the high cost. Poor cleaning standards in the gents toilets with toilet paper thrown onto the ceiling tiles. Over cooked breakfast with what appeared to be tinned mushrooms, and a poor set up no tea pots for tea had to make in the cup no milk on the tables really needs an overhaul. A hotel that needs more attention to detail and a facelift to bring it up to a good basic standard. The company that owns it needs to realise that they are a custodian of a beautiful building and treat it as such. Shame when the views from the bar area are so nice.

The room was not clean when we arrived and was not cleaned during our stay. We were not told breakfast times and in booklet it said times were subject to change. We paid for our breakfast but on bank holiday Sunday when we arrived at 9am were told we were too late.
The hotel is very noisy, people shouting and whooping. The parking is a nightmare. Before I arrived I was told I could park on the streets, but the streets were full and all had meters. The car park would let you pay a maximum of 24 hours so we had to get up early every day to keep paying. When I asked at reception he laughed and said good luck. Not very helpful.
However the hotel is right next to the sea and the great Orme, also close to shops and amenities. Lots of great restaurants.

Due to event organiser changed the weekend dates, I booked into this hotel. They won't change the date because it was non-refundable booking. Bit they simply don't answer phone calls nor emails. Hotel.com tried for me to no avail. We came anyway to enjoy North Wales and Llandudno. Despite the owner of this hotel reassuring how much money has been invested to modernised this hotel. I can't see any modern fixtures or items or decor. There must be only three rooms which have been modernized because the one I stayed in is nothing like the photos online. I just hope I haven't brought any creatures home with me.

This hotel is not grand by any means. Our arrival was 30 mins early and desk staff were not particularly welcoming. They do not make up beds and replace used drink items, or empty the bins daily. My bathroom had deep scratches on the bath, some mould, a leaky radiator pipe, leaky soap dispenser and damaged fixings. The so-called balcony restriction devices were not fixed to both sides of the doors and could easily be opened. Dangerous considering the height of some rooms. Balconies are rusty on the edges and do not encourage use. Then there are the ants in the bathroom and near the bed and eventually, they crawled over my bed. Both my room and my friend's room had them. I was offered fly spray and advised the maintenance team would investigate. I was moved to another room, (balcony issues the same), and subjected to a loud whirring noise until late evening. (? mechanical) When I enquired the next day about maintenance I overheard a receptionist say there were no maintenance staff. Whether she meant on that day or always, she did not elaborate. As we were leaving, we sat in the quiet room where luggage is openly displayed and not locked away, and the chair my friend leant on collapsed. The leg fell off. Finally, we asked for a taxi booking and it did not turn up. We would never go back and never recommend it to anyone.
